This may be a dumb question, but will doing EXT 4 delete what's on my Sd card?
thanks in advance.

If you're referring to the zips provided in the synergy and eternity threads, then no. These format the system/data partitions on the internal storage not the SD.
Yes, any patition to your SD will delete files of you card.
Back-up you stuff to a computer (SD >> Computer) do the EXT 4 partition and then Computer >> SD).
Oh and no question is dumb question!
Thank you!! i just wasn't sure. i am planning on flashing the MIUI rom and i figured any performance increase in good. Will any EXT4 zip work if i wanted to do that??

Umm I'm honestly not sure but I wouldn't think so. Your best bet would be to ask in the MIUI dev thread and see what they think.

Alright i will ask them. I don't wanna brick my lovely phone of mine. also, in regards to boot manager; Should i make a Sense rom my phone rom cuz it will run better that way? 16 GB sandisk
Well it won't brick it regardless, it will probably bootloop though so make sure you either have a nandroid or another ROM on your SD to flash.

Did you read the guide on installing vgb in the dev section. There is a custom bootloader you need to flash...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1212239
this should work for miui, cm7, and vgb since they all are mtd based roms.
I don't think a bootloader is going to fix the SD card problems. These phones eat SD cards, even in "stock" OTA form. It's not isolated to MIUI, CM7, or OTA for that matter.

I meant the gb bootloaders.tar found in the link above. If I'm not mistaken, some folks were reporting that helped?
Hello Devs,
I am just new here. I have the YP-G70CWY-XXA GB version, it is on 2.3.5 and I want to update it to 2.3.6. My question is, What is the best version to install via Odin and will it work without updating the Kernel?
Another question is, is it possible to Ram swap with class 4 mSD on our units?
Last is, is it possible to unroot?
Thank you very much.
Just check out any rom that is compatible with your device (US/INTL). It all comes down to your personal decision.
What do you mean by ram swap? A micro sd is just extra storage.
As for unrooting, you have to see according to the rom you'll flash.

Sorry if I am mistaken. I am really new to Android and wants to learn it.
I just want to root it and change some scripts if possible and then unroot it. But if the tings that I am looking for are in one of the roms, might as well use that rom. Any Stock kernel around. I hold 2 versions of SGP. one with Button and the other has none. have soft B the none and now looking for solutions. It may just need a kernel reflashing.
Anyway, thank you for the reply and more power to the dev people like you.
Cheers!

why do you care wether it's rooted or not? it makes no real difference, other than being able to access the root of your sgp...

I do care. I respect the hard work of dev techies. Root I need to insert series of scripts for my own use. Unfortunately, I found the scripts in pastebin. This unit will serve me as a remote for a server. comprende?

Just stock is enough. I will use it to control and monitor AIX servers coupled with AS based systems. Due to my job, I wont take the risk staying rooted. besides, I just want it stock/ I got ADB running on one AIX system to dev. so, I have my reasons and you have yours I am sure. It is just a job for me.

Yes, it is possible to swap card spaces. I have a 64gb that I want to try it with, but first I have to figure out how to root and rom my Player 5.
OK you want to swap your micro sd card with another. Of course it's possible. It's just external storage. I never tried with a 64gig card but in the accessories forum other members said it works for them.

he wants to use his external sd as ram not storage, which as far as i'm concerned, you cannot do
Thank you very much to all of the dev and those who helped.
For now, I did root it and inserted the scripts I need and it is working like a charm. However, Atrix 2 has a script to switch the SD card from internal to external. Yes, I woulds like to do so. Is it possible to use class 6-10 card 64Gb? Better yet, if we can use part of the 64GB as an ADDED feature to increase the ram like a unix or linux style, will it be possible? If we could run the ram using entirely the class 10 SDcard, it would be the best. The unit will be lightning fast. Will have no lag on those who play heavy games.
It is just a question though.
By the way, the Ureadahead script for the SDcard, can it be set higher than 512 up to 1024 or 2048? or it depends on the latency of the processor and the ram capacity ?
Dev Teams,
Might see something interesting here for SGP4 & 5.

I bought 64 gb card and it works on samsung stock galaxy s3 rom BUT when i switched to Cyanogen10 mod it started showing damaged card,
I know it is because the stock has driver for that card,
My question is has someone ported or can someone please port the driver from stock and make it workable on custom roms.
Thanks.
Not sure what recovery your using now... but you might want to check out this post:

If your card is formatted in ExFat that might be the issue...

Hi,
I have a question. After I rooted my T769 20F, can I just leave it without install anything? I just want the internal memory could be bigger with the 16GB micro SD card put on. Please advise.
Thanks.

Yeah. but it doesn't release much data being you can only move certain downloaded apps. Believe me, I've tried.

You could install a custom recovery using an APK, I'm on my phone so I really can't provide a link. Its in there somewhere all u need to do is search
EDIT: Not on phone now, here you go.
I'm a little confused with the updates of ROM's and kernel's.
I'm trying alternatives to CM10, both full ROM or kernel. In almost all the tests I have done, when I finally go back to the original CM10 and CM10 kernel, I always drag some feature of the kernel or the ROM, I just try.
Does this mean that when you install a kernel or ROM, with its wipe data, etc ... there remains something of the older version?
There is a cleaner way of install?
I have readed many threads, but I have found many ways to do it. :silly:
Nobody have a opinion about this?
And if so... it s probably few MB of some left data, don t know for sure.

I think you missed my point. I do not mind a little MB deal more. The bad thing is that sometimes when you install a new ROM, there are some errors from the previous ROM. As if left 'remains' of it.
A 1TB microSD card won't solve the problem.

I get what u mean, the data from previous X ROM remain when you install Y ROM. It is highly recomended to install stock ROM before flashing any other ROM or Kernel
