You have to make sure the zip is named exactly PG86IMG.zip, and on the root of your sdcard.
Download this file. Do not rename it at all. Just download and put it on the root of your sd card. (Not in a folder) Reboot into your bootloader, (Vol. down + Power button) and let it scan for the image. Once it finds it select yes by pressing the Vol. up button. Let it do its thing and rebbot after it says update is complete.
This is Newest version of TWRP.
I'll try it later when I have my brothers phone. But I remember when I tried that last night that it was scanning a file that was PG86DIAG.zip even when I had the PG86IMG.zip on the sd card

Jay's instructions and file will work, without a doubt. No worries, just hit it up.
I had the same problem, it wouldn't install cwm. I tried dling the file and adding to SD root directory of phone as jay suggests but when I reboot into bootloader it goes through the zips real quickly saying all are either invalid or failed and then it says
Parsing...[SD ZIP]
[1] RECOVERY
up to update
down to cancel
any thoughts on how to get past this?

That's when you hit up to update and it will install the recovery.
You can also flash the recovery from fastboot.
Connect the phone your computer, ensure USB Debugging mode is on. Download and save recovery-twrp-shooter-1.0.0.img to the Android SDK platform-tools folder, open a command prompt here and run
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Once the device is stable in FastbootUSB mode run
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-twrp-shooter-1.0.0.img
I got to the part where i can be in fastboot usb but when i try to run the second command it says that it is not a recognizable command, any help again would be appreciated

What's the exact error you're getting. The second command depends on you having the file in the same directory as fastboot (or named differently), if it's not in the same directory then you have to type out the full path to the file.
ok i got to the part where it was able to write recovery in the cmd window, but when i go from usbfastboot to bootloader on the phone it still scans the zips/images and says wrong zip or invalid img and asks to update again. am i missing something? these are the files on my sd card in the root directory on my phone
PG86IMG(1).zip
PG86IMG.zip
recovery-clockwork-4.0.1.5-shooter.img
su-2.3.1-bin-signed.zip
su-2.3.6.3-efgh-sighned(1).zip
If you have a working recovery, successful flash from cmd via fastboot, then delete the PG86IMG.zip files from your sdcard.
I figured out the issue. I forgot to delete the PG86IMG file from the sd card after i flashed it. was able to get into recovery after that. thanks for all the help guys
I flashed without clockwork. I didn't like it on the OG evo so I planed on using TWRP for my phone.
Either way thought he only problem I had was the beta code for Revolutionary.
Worked like a charm. Thanks Man!
Can anyone point me in the direction of a Stock RUU for HTC EVO 3D CDMA hboot 1.50
This is the scenario...
My phone is booting up into Hboot on its own. I have tried using the PG86IMG.zip and it loads, however it just loops and goes back to the bootloader.
This is how it looks...
Loading (PC86DIAG.zip )
No Image!
Loading (PC86DIAG.ndh)
No Image!
Found PG86IMG.zip
Checking
This is when it returns to the bootloader.

Hello,
Try the following
1) Remove the PC86IMG.zip file from your SD Card (or remove the SD Card)
2) Reboot your phone
3) After fastboot goes through its check, navigate to "Recovery" using the volume buttons. Press power to select it
A) Did it pull up the recovery? If so flash a new ROM AND CLEAR ALL DATA
B) Did it not go to recovery? If so you will need to install the Fastboot/ADB Binaries and Drivers to flash a new recovery. Once a new recovery is installed, a new ROM can be flashed.
Let me know if this does not help
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Google "rootevo3dnew.zip" and you should find a site that says something like evohacks.com or something like that. Download that package and extract it to your computer. Now follow these instructions...
1. Go into the extracted folder, find the clockworkmod recovery image and rename it "cwm.img" (for easier typing).
2. Next, open your command prompt and redirect to the root evo 3d folder. (Or ifyou have windows vista/seven, hold shift and right click the evo 3d folder an click "open command prompt here"
3. Turn on fastboot USB on your phone since ur in the bootloader.
4. Next type fastboot Boot cwm.img and it should boot clockworkmod. Wipe your device Amanda flash a Tom.
This is all assuming you know how to work adb / fastboot and have a windows PC, hope it helps.!!

http://www.mediafire.com/?n72emuv5a1c00sd
Ok, I was trying to flash the newest ICS leak and being the newb I am, its borked.
Right now I have an unlocked bootloader with H-Boot 2.11.0000
I have a blank SD card and I just need to know what files to copy to it and what steps to get back to stock or possibly getting the 5/8 ROM leak installed
I'm assuming your s-on still, follow the directions in the OP to install.
Installation for S-ON Devices on Gingerbread firmware
* Copy ROM to SD Card AND PH98IMG.zip AND GB Firmware Patch to ROOT of SD Card
* Reboot to recovery
* wipe data / Factory Reset
* Flash ROM
* Flash GB Fimrware Patch
* Use Developer Menu to reboot to bootloader and flash the boot.img file in the PH98IMG.zip
* Reboot
* Profit!
How exactly do you FLASH the rom without renaming it?

1) Easiest thing for you is to turn USB Debugging on in Settings (Apps > Development), hook up to PC, and use the Hasoon2000 Noob-proof toolkit to reboot directly to recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22696442
2)Many Custom ROMs have Reboot to Recovery in the power button menu
3)Ninja grab the battery at an angle and slide SD Card out, go to recovery, and slide in while mainitaining power connection. (Not ah, recommended but good in a bind)

You need to first flash a custom recovery and then select that option (AmonRa 3.15 recommended, CWM is buggy on charging battery). That Hasoon2000 kit in last post can do that for you too if you don't have AmonRa installed.

That seems to be the biggest issue, can I flash a recovery without being able to boot my phone up... I only have access to the bootloader.
All the instructions fail to mention the requirement for the recovery app... That was the newb boo-boo.
I think there is a zip somewhere, but it's easier with adb.
fastboot flash recovery (name of recovery).img
I recommend S-Off. It makes all of this super easy. I promise its really not that hard. The wire trick looks worse than it is.
Edit: fixed. I'm retarded in the morning.

Yeah, manually you can flash a custom recovery via the same method, a PH98IMG.zip from bootloader. You delete the existing PH98IMG file and replace with one containing AmonRa (what exactly is that zip, do you need it still?)
But, adb fastboot commands when hooked up to PC can flash the recovery directly to memory from an img file. Just need USB Debugging turned on in the Settings on a regular boot to the ROM.
Sooo just use the toolkit on a PC to eliminate hassle if ya can lol. It uses that second paragraph's method. Just need to click an option and it runs the script. Now ya know both ways.
Oh, link in earlier post from my XDA app is not working :/ here is the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22696442
I guess until I find the zip and instructions I have a brick.

Ah, I meant the ROM, but not even the ROM boots because of bad flash. No worries. Don't need to be in the ROM anyway, toolkit works in the bootloader.
1) Ensure drivers for phone are properly installed on PC. (Google and download HTC Sync if unsure.)
2) Download and extract toolkit. Run the All In One exe file. The GUI comes up with your options.
3) With phone off, remove SD Card.
4) Boot into bootloader. Select Fastboot option.
5) Connect to PC via USB.
6) Select AmonRa from toolkit options and install.
7) Power down phone, disconnect and insert SD Card.
8) Connect phone, power it up and select Reboot to Recovery on the toolkit.
From recovery, you can enable USB mass storage option for memory and download/transfer files you need from your PC, delete the PH98IMG.zip, etc.

Several user reports in the forum say ClockworkMod (CWM) has an issue with charging our batteries when the drain gets low. Risk not being able to charge phone at all and brick that way. AmonRa or TWRP from the Development section are still recommended for this particular phone for now.
Hope you get sorted out on the ROM
Sounds like you're getting instructions to do more than you asked.
Go to post three on the following page and scroll down to "Latest leak and installation instructions".

my free application, Flash Image GUI, will automatically extract the boot.img file and flash it. Then the next step is to reboot into the custom recovery and install the exact same rom.zip file.
essentially with htc's unlock method, the kernel portion of a ROM .zip can't be loaded from the standard recovery boot mode. my application, Flash Image GUI, loads the kernel portion of the ROM .zip from Android mode, easily allowing you to reboot into the custom recovery and apply the system portion of the ROM .zip.
if you're interesting in the more manual/command line route, which requires access to a desktop, the command you'll need is fastboot flash boot boot.img. in addition, the ROM .zip file should be the same as any other .zip file. if it doesn't open properly, might be a corrupt download. the boot.img is generally located in the root of the rom.zip file, or sometimes in a sub folder called kernel or boot. Flash Image GUI is very good at searching/locating the boot.img file in valid ROM .zip files.
hope the suggestions and some of those technical details help!

Try downloading the ROM again and use a program like 7zip to unzip the ROM. I'm pretty sure you can go into the ROM with esfile explorer from your phone. Then use flash image GUI and select the boot.IMG exactly.

Sounds like a bad download of the ROM .zip file. Downloading a 2nd time should resolve the issue. Many times you can check the md5sum of the downloaded file to ensure the download is correct.
If you still get the error from my app, after downloading the file again and ensure the md5sums match, link me to the exact file? I'd like to take a look.
Hope that helps!

thanks bro after downloading it a couple times it still wasnt working for me but after the 8/29/2012 update i downloaded it unzipped like a charm. =0 thanks for the amazing support!
So i was able to get the cm10 boot.img and flash it through the flash Gui app. once i did that flashed the cm10 rom in recovery. i triedd to boot into it and i keep getting sent back to the bootloader. I wiped cache davlik factory reset and wiped the system. was i not supposed to wipe the system? now i cant even restore to a sense rom is it because i flashed the cm10 boot.img? i am assuming i need to FASTBOOT a sense boot.img since i cant get into a sense rom.
So finally after flash gui not working for me i Fastbooted the Boot.img through adb and was able to flash cm10 zip again and it BOOTED! i tried this method after downloading the 8/31/2012 cm10 zip. I think i wiped system last time which messed up the whole thing!

hi there.
i can help.
you need to unlock bootloader using htcdev.
install CWM for your international device from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498749
download my stock backup from here https://www.dropbox.com/s/pj9mds5lalg84lu/clockworkmodbackup.rar
uncompress my stock backup to your sdcard.
goto recovery and restore from backup
this will take you to 1.54.401 stock (only hboot 2.47 or below)
if that dont work, your hboot must have been updated. if your hboot is 2.49, then install virtuous 2.02
Thank you boss, i m downloading the files right now,
your back up is being downloaded and i also downloaded

you need to fastboot flash the recovery on there. downlod this htc one max toolkit found on this thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578663
use the toolkit to flash the cwm international recovey.
once flashed, myou can then choose recovery from hboot and hopefully it will boot cwm
so i used the toolkit to flash teh recovery. i pushed the file on the right side of the toolkit where it says flash recovery and it showed its done show how many seconds it took. now i pushed the back-up into the sd card and selected recovery in the hboot menu. it reboots and come back to the same red triangle. i do now know what to do.
i would greatly appreciate it, if you can give me step by step guide. i know i am making some type of mistake.
once again i greatly appreciate your help!
are you definitely unlocked?
need unlocked bootloader to flash recovery.
open a command prompt windows (dos window) with admin (hold shift and right click toolkit folder ond select command prompt here)
navigate to the toolkit folder where the fastboot tool sits. now copy your downloaded recovery.img in the same folder as the fastboot.
make sure the downloaded recovery file is called recovery.img
now type this
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

do a full wipe in recovery.
from the main menu in clockwork i did the wipe cache and factory reset. it took out the system and it got stuck again at the htc one screen. i am intalling it again and see. should the sd card stay in the phone the whole time?

sdcard being there all the time shouldnt make any difference.
make a full wipe/factory reset, wipe dalvik
install virtuous roms
reboot
thats all to it.

ps install twrp recovey . best recovery to install this rom
and fingerprint sensor wont work while unlocked. relock the bootloader and fingerprint works.
you can lock and unlock bootloader without htcdev as long as you got soff hboot.
