Motorola recruiting Beta testers for software updates - Motorola Photon 4G

Found this on the Motorola support forums on the Photon 4G. Looks like they are trying to recruit around 1000 people to help test future software update releases for bugs before it is released to the public OTA. Sign up if you are interested.

Optimus p500 to get update in may !![india]

We already know the Froyo-running LG Optimus One best-seller will be getting the Android Gingerbread update, but so far there was no telling when this might happen. Now, thanks to LG India we know that the update will most likely be happening in May
LG initially stated the Optimus One won't be upgraded to Android 2.3 because it doesn't meet the minimum requirements. However the company changed its mind shortly after that and promised us a Gingerbread update. It will come half a year later - somewhere by the end of May.
And just when we thought things are about to become crystal-clear LG posted another statement to confuse us. It seems the May thing is not confirmed and things might change.
We are hoping this second message has something to do with the LG legal department, who are afraid of the consequences if the company misses a promised release date.
Anyway, the most important thing here is LG is working on the Gingerbread update and it close to being completed.
thanks for the update... where did LG India mention a release in may???
Lucky Lucky , I called Singapore's LG Service Centre and they don't think it's possible for gingerbread to be updated.
But I'm being optimistic and I'm sure that Gingerbread update will happen.
it is confirmed in my country, as LG has publish an Ad with a promise that O1 is 'upgradeable' to Gingerbread.
thanks for posting old news. search before creating new thread in future.
also post the source of the news. in this case, gsm arena.

Gingerbread will be launching in July here in india
Can't wait for the offical upgrade...
What does this mean for people like me that have already installed 2.3.3 thru CM7 ????
It doesn't matter. As soon as we will have an official version, somebody will root it and create a flashable zip. So don't worry.
lets hope that the touchscreen bug is fixed otherwise the gingerbread update would be a waste

[Sourcecode] Motorola RAZR source code released!

Motorola DROID RAZR source code released
Android hackers and RAZR fans alike can rejoice today as Motorola has just released the source code for their new and popular DROID RAZR. It was announced back in October and became available earlier this month and now all the developers have full access to the code if needed.
As you can see in our image above the phone is still a little locked down, as usual with Motorola the bootloader is locked down quite tight. However, the RAZR was rooted very quickly after being launched and details for root are available here. Some modders might be worried with a non-removable battery but we found out it actually does come out — it just takes some effort.
The source code will allow the full development and modding to really begin, for those that aren’t familiar and hopefully we’ll be seeing some progress for this amazingly thin and sleek phone soon. Covered in Kevlar now we just need some Ice Cream Sandwich and it’d be perfect. The DROID Bionic has some CM7 ports under way but I have a feeling most of the development community will be aiming for Android 4.0 ICS for the RAZR. We’ll be sure to update once some ROM’s start becoming available. Don’t forget to check out our full DROID RAZR review while you’re here.
From sourceforge!
It'd been posted about a week ago but didn't even mentioned here
Hopefully we could see Cyanogenmod and its variations sooner.
It came out a couple of weeks ago and it has been already posted on XDA. I think it was moved in the General section.
Yeah man read the forums before posting.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA App
Lol anticlimax rofl

Is it allowed to request sources before official ICS release?

Samsung released the ICS kernel sources for the euro version N7000 2 days ago, just go here and search for "n7000"
Nothing for our i717 yet. There is an "Inquiry" link on the right of every file, allowing to request sources for a device. So, my question is - is it allowed/legal to request release of the ICS sources, given the fact ICS for our phone still hasn't been officially released?
Doesn't hurt to try. Although if I were them, I'd be asking...who are you to ask?
My guess is that once the official ICS OTA is out from at&t, they'll release the sources to the public.

The beauty of GPL is that there is no criteria/requirements for any credentials. Anyone is allowed to ask for a source code of a software released under GPL, and the developer must provide it, no questions asked.
It's allowed..
Fat chance them actually giving it to you, the gpl does not apply to software that has not been released to the public...
but you're allowed to ask, not like the feds are gonna raid your bedroom from a simple question.
And once it's released, you don't have to ask, it's just posted for all to download.
Word son. lol but asking for source early is probobly even more of a joke to sammy then asking for leak

Photon ics

So I know there's threads about photon ICS..
But I wanted to throw out the question that bothered me when I was going through Th3bills MIUI 2.8.3 thread
Will photon ics be canceled with the Q4 release?
Its just something bothering me a lot.

No one knows.. They said the Atrix would get it in Q3 (no later than September), and the Photon would get it in Q4 (no later than December). The only way we could get shafted into not getting official ICS is if they canceled both the Atrix version and the Photon version as either release will get us perfect ICS and near perfect JB. I know Moto has a history of promising things that never happen, but i highly double that both versions will get canceled. Worry not, just stay patient. And honestly, this question could have easily been answered by posting in one of the 2384589 ICS ETA threads we have already
it is still on schedule

Motorola Update Servers ?

Does anyone have the Adresses for the Update Servers Motorola uses to push out OTA's ?
It would be really nice to be able to download the Update directly, as OTA will not work right now with the Software Version i'm using... or to take a look if the fastboot-files are available.
I frickin' had it with waiting for Motorola to get their butt in gear.
If the update is not somewhere available for download on Monday next week, i'm selling my Razr at the end of the Month and get myself a Samsung S2 or S3.

Ok, first things first. What update are you talking about? The .215? Second, there's an app called cheesecake that you can install that will check for any leaks/updates. There havent been any leaks since .215 as far as i know so why don't you just flash the .215 leak? Takes 10 minutes.
I want the frickin OTA that is supposedly being rolled out in the UK and in some non-english speaking countries.
The only download links for Cheesecake that I found where all dead, so I can forget this.
I'll just report my thread to the mods, and hope they close it down, obviously it's too much to hope for that Motorola will finally deliver.
SOB's...
OP's request
