Is there an app that will show which apps drain my battery? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I get pretty bad battery life. I wiped everything and reflashed the ROM and only installed about 10 apps instead of my usual 150 or so. Total difference in battery life! Except I want want my apps back, at least most of them.
I'm wondering if there's a way of finding out which ones take the most juice or are always running when I don't want them to do I can get rid of those few.

Try "Wheres My Droid Power"

Could also try "Watchdog", I have used it a few times, good app. It also lets you know if one app is misbehaving and using too many resources.

Or system panel. I use its monitor and it will tell you how much power each app is using. You have to get the paid version to get that feature but its a good app. I'm sure there are other free apps that do the same like the ones mentioned above.

BetterBatteryStats, best there is

+1 for watchdog

Android's built in battery use monitor will tell you what's using battery. I guess it varies based on which ROM you use.

+2 for watchdog

App watchdog by proid mobile?

+3 for Watchdog!
I use the paid version to help support the developer, but there is a lite verson though.

Battery reading - tell me what you see on your phone

I installed Norton Mobile Utilities (this is not antivirus...... ) and was checking out the settings options from the main menu. At the very bottom of the settings it showed my battery only has 1390 mAh capacity. I'm curious what others show with this app installed.
TIA

First off.......it's not antivirus....not sure where you got that. All it does is monitor your phone statistics, like minutes used, texts, cpu, memory, etc. It also is a task killer that works way better than the stock task manager.
Now for anyone that has a minute, could you please install the app and let me know what you see....... our batteries are supposed to be 1620 mAh, so i'm just curious to what others are seeing. It could be the app, or maybe I just have a bad battery. Certainly isn't close to 1620.......

Try battery monitor widget

Ok so I installed both of the above mentioned apps for comparison. I am running the extended battery(2750 I think). The Norton utilities app shows 1390 under battery profile. But it is greyed out. Not sure what that signifies. Battery monitor widget shows 2720. Hope that helps with what you were asking.

It says 1390 on mine also.

I use the cyanogen data toggle or data toggle widget from the market to turn off 3G when I'm not using it and it makes a HUGE different in my battery life.

Best auto app killer?

What is the best auto app killer Facebook always continues to run in the background using 10 to 40% CPU I need an application that will kill it as soon as my screen goes off
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
I actually stopped using auto app killers about 5 months ago after reading several articles on how the android operating system works. I would suggest maybe just using task manager to kill it when yer done with it?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
That's a pain Especially since I'm not supposed to be on my phone at work and that's just one more thing I would have to do an more chance of getting caught

Advanced Task Killer seem to work well for me.

Usage Monitor disappeared!

My wife and I both have Rezounds. I went to show her the Usage Monitor so she could track her minutes, and its not in her App Drawer. Titanium Backup shows it as installed though. I've tried to freeze and defrost it in an effort to make it come back, but it didn't work. Any suggestions?
Look at settings - power - battery usage.

Appreciate the reply, but I think you misunderstood. The Rezound comes with an app that lets you track your minutes/text/data usage so you don't go over your monthly allowance. I'm not looking to track battery usage.
Go to your widgets its not an app.

No, what the op is referring to is an app, not a widget.
Op try clearing cache and restarting. If that doesn't work...try a different launcher and see if that gets the app to show up in the app drawer. If that doesn't work, I'd look at getting adb running and shell in to the system to see if u can see the app listed in /system/app, if so copy it to the sdcard and try installing it on the phone from there.
Otherwise, worst case scenario, a restore.

I had this issue on my incredible 2 running sense 3.5 roms. If you have Verizon my mobile app installed it overwrites or hides the usage monitor app.
If you uninstall Verizon my mobile and restart the rezound usage monitor will show up.
I just tried it and it worked. The one Dev I mentioned it to back on the inc2 hypothesized that the apks are similar and thus causes the stock usage app to disappear.

You da man!! Thanks! I had frozen the My Verizon app, which is why I had it. As soon as I froze it on her phone and rebooted, there it was!

Hi, I am bit confuse. Do you install Verizon my mobile app youself? I think it do come with the Rezound by default. Do you root the device or all stock?

Google experience launcher uses less ram than LG stock

Check the task manager widget. Every time I clear ram I'm over 900mb free on GEL. LG was in the 800s and 700s most of the time

Are you surprised by that?
The only shock to me is that the gap between the two is so small given GEL is coming from a much improved system in terms of system resource usage. I can only hope that once it is integrated with KitKat itself it is somehow lighter.
Seriously..what's the point? Is this HTC wildfire thread or am I missing something..

Your logic and methodology used to prove your point is irrefutable. Thanks for sharing. I've been really worried about using all 2Gb of RAM on my phone and desperately seeking another launcher.
/s I should have stopped after "task manager widget" and left the thread at "clear ram".

The Google launcher is mostly just placeholders for search. Its bare bones. All pure stock android is always basic. Everybody wants it and says they want the stock experience and then a couple of weeks go by and they are running a 3rd party launcher cause stock has no options. Lg made a launcher with options and therefore uses more resources.
I use nova launcher and I get 1GB to 1.2GB of free ram after I cleared taskmanager. BTW I also disabled a some apps.
It is nice but could really use more screens

I'd give the GEL a try if I could disable the LG stock one... but I hate having both running at once. Obviously, I'm not rooted.

Just stop it in the task manager

There is a reason 3 gigs gonna be next std. Oems are great inventing but carp at optimizing. Well used ram is good use, wasted ram because daemons and launcher tricks you don't use is just a waste of resources.
I'll test the launcher, autokiller is a bit to aggressive when low on memory, imo.
