Can't Flash Boot .img!! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use the LG GT540
As the title says i can't flash any boot images
expect swiftdroids boot .img
Everytime i go onto recovery the swiftdroid boot image
comes up for about 1 sec and then the recovery menu
comes up!!!
I also tried flashing different CWMs but the same!!
My normal boot image does come up if i don't go to
recovery!! (It is the android boot image)
Cause of this i can't flash any type of boot .img
expect the swiftdroid's boot .img
Anyone know how i can get rid of this??
I am using SuperFast Froyo so its got nothing to do
with swiftdroid!!
I did go to data/local/
but nothings there so i went into data/local/tmp
and nothings there too. (used root explorer)
Eit: I have tried to delete recovery and flash it again
and the swiftdroids boot animation doesn't come up now!!
But when i try and flash a boot .img it only some of the rom's
boot .img flash!!!
Please help!!
Any help will be appreciated!!
Thank you!!

guess you need to flash to stock again to unbrick it.

Flashing boot.img files can only be done in fastboot mode.
X10 cannot enter into fastboot, so how did you try to do it?
Try PC companion to repair.
try this

if you can boot into the rom try reflashing recovery, and check that fast boot isn't checked in settings-power

+1
Also, you can try to do a search for flash image gui on XDA and that will also let you flash your recovery on your SD card w/ out having to reboot and renaming a file... Hope it helps and good luck
Just load into bootloader then fastboot usb. Go over to your pc and into terminal navigate to your folder with adb tools and recovery image and type in fastboot boot recovery nameofyourrecovery.img. May I recommend twrp1.1.1. But the easiest way is like what zsibisi said.
u guys are the **** thanks it works now lol

[Q] Instaliing a Rom issue

I installed a custom ROM (carbondev) but when my phone loads it just shows a carbondev load screen.
I have no back up in clockworkMod to revert back to the stock ROM...
Iv managed to use adb push to send ROM's to my phone.. i know its worked because in cmd it says (so many bytes in so many seconds)...
I cant manage to locate any ROM's in clockwork mod to install one through recovery.
Did you installed the boot.img for the Rom? If not try it via Fastboot.

This is a good Tutorial for installing Boot.img via Fastboot. We can't flash boot.img with the .zip in the Rom because S-ON won't allow it (If I read correclty).
If you need more help you can write me a PM
Thanks i'll try this after download the ROM again and putting it back in the folder.. think iv deleted the boot.img for it xD

Re: [Q] Help cynogenmod stock in boot circle.
Don't boot the image, you need to flash it. "Fastboot flash boot boot.img".

Phone won`t boot, not even into recovery.

Hey,
I just tried to install an custom rom at my Android, i unlocked it on HTCdev`s site, but i think i was a little fast with the DooMLoRD_v2_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip
I then bootet the phone into fastboot, and did the command fastboot flash boot boot.img, this worked very fine but now the phone wont boot.
I think maybe the phone is unlocked, but it is S-ON. I have tried diffrent recovery modes with the fastboot flash recovery recovery.img etc, but none of them are working.
Now im sitting with a phone that wont boot at all, what to do?
Is it possible to keep going on with the custom rom install, or can i resett the phone into the stock rom?
-Thanks.
i just tried an factory resett, but when i do the HTC logo shows for about 5 secounds, then the phone turns black and nothing happens.
also tried to boot the phone in all modes, but it hangs on the htc quietly brilliant screen.
Not booting is usually the kernel. Try reflashing the kernel or another compatible one. The recovery.img should be placed where you have placed fastboot.exe normally on c:/android.
If the kernel and recovery flashed you should be able to access the bootloader and recovery by a button combo.

Is there any way to pull out the orginal boot.img or just install a new kernel?

[SOLVED] Stuck on TWRP recovery after OTA update

Hi,
My (well, not mine, my sister's) Honor 7 is stuck on the TWRP recovery since I downloaded the OTA update (not sure which one) (yup, I know, bad idea).
It seems that the bootloader is not accessible. The TWRP is in chinese, and it doesn't show any "bootloader" option, only a "download" one. I have to swipe to activate it.
So, for the moment, I have performed a full wipe (except for data and microsd), but the phone doesn't boot better. Only got access to the TWRP recovery. And not sure how I can fix this...
Could you please give me some help ?
Thanks a lot.

same here. cannot even enter fastboot or erecovery mode
Isnt it a option to download the last full Update file from Honor, extracting the system.img. Boot.img and recovery.img from it using the updateextractor app and flashing it with twrp?
As i remember, there is an Option to access the micro-sd via usb to transfer the files while in twrp..
Okay, flashing the recovery would be my last step, if flashing system and Boot will fix the loop.
Well, I thought about it, but I'm not sure if it's possible and if it will not brick the phone :/ If someone can confirm that it's possible to flash the Boot.img with TWRP (and if possible with a link to a subject, or tutorial), I would do it

so i thought you'r already stuck in the twrp and can't boot....
Here is the changelog from TWTP with remarks how to flash IMG files
http://www.droidviews.com/now-flash-image-files-using-twrp-2-8-4-0/
Maybe that helps
I'm stuck on TWRP, yes. Even with TWRP i can't access bootloader... And I don't know why :/ So, I need to flash all img files from the update.app, and the recovery.img in last ? Hope it should do it...

I would leave the recovery unflashed till you can guaratee the the system will Boot. Seems that twrp is currently your only chance to change something. So dont cut the tree you are sitting on. Right?
But no guaranter, that these procedure will work. That would be my way of fixing these..
flashed recovery.img in TWRP reboot took me to update mode with 2 errors.
now it is stuck on honor logo and will not do anything, no vol up, down, recovery, fastboot, erecovery, nothing!
it'll just repeatedly reboot if vol up or down...
Did you tried to flash the Boot.img, system.img, etc, before recovery.img, and reboot before flashing recovery.img ?

seems, that you didn't read, what we've posted before:

yes, thats my fault. I only flased recovery.img
I can now get back into the 'Rescue Mode' using both vol + - and power. it shows:
Error!
Func NO: 11 (recovery image)
Error NO: 2 (load failed!)
I have full B121 update.app file in dload folder in micro SD card. That's as far as it goes
If you flash a recovery.img it really have to match to the currently installed system.img as we pointed out in another forum. if it doesn't match, it will result in a boot loop...
You said, you can run the erecovery?
So as i think there the fastboot tool from the pc via usb should work and you can flash images from there... Maybe the Multitool can help you out...
more about these in another thread: hope that helps

Update: Here is a solution:

many thanks for the help
how can i determine the correct versions required? the phone was on B170 before trying to update to B180 using TWRP. However, TWRP is completely wiped system and data, so not sure what to chose?
Here we are.... i'd suggest you the B170 recovery because i think your updated failed because of twrp and so i think you'r still on a bricked b170..
All attached Recoveries are extraced by me from the official Honor Full Updated/OTA Updates.
https://www.wetransfer.com/download...bf822f892c6fc4772b6f113820160221204857/194eef
the files will stay online here till the 28 February, 2016.... (sorry for the short lifetime)
Edit: It's not a good idea to apply a downloaded OTA Update files using twrp to the system. It's better to apply the stock recovery, remove root (if available) and let the honor update decide themself, how to apply the update or to put the update in the update folder..
Thanks @Dattel01 but how do I flash these? They are IMG files. Shouldn't they be in update.app format?
Please search these forum for "fastboot". I think i already posted a link to a topic where fastboot will be described...
Problem is that I cannot enter fastboot, only the rescue mode mentioned
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=65420964
managed to get into fastboot by letting the battery drain then connecting usb cable with computer whilst holding vol down.
flashed boot, recovery, and system via fastboot. Now stuck in continuous boot loop with no mode responding. just restart after honor logo.
will let battery drain again and see if I could get back into fastboot
Maybe that tool helps you
