Software specifications in my signiture for ur reference! however i dont think it is quite related to ROM/kernel/scripts etc...
My phone is about 1 year old, and as well as its accessories except sd card which is bought 2 months ago.
also, i am very sure that the combination of mik6.6.1 and francos 1.1 newest, would NOT cause this problem. also, i am very sure that i installed them carefully and correctly from recovery
Recently, my phone is experiencing random shutdowns at random moments. (keyboard using / web browsing / music playing as the most often)
screen blackens suddenly (with a few electric beams at the top of the screen) and is shut down.
if external power is unplugged, it can be normally and stably powered up using power button.
if external power is plugged, phone will normally and stably power up by itself since receiving external power.
after power on, everything is stable and normal even the shutdown occured during apps download/update from android market.
note: there is NO SIGNS of kernel panics and i am sure it is not.
information from own knowledge and internet
Phones from different manufacturers (including LG, Samsung, HTC) is possible to face this problem and it is mostly not related to software. (ROM, kernel, etc)
It is possibly related to:
- internal hardware of the phone
- phone battery
- external SD card itself
- SD card reader of the phone
on oct 1 i plugged my SD card to windows and ran a "partition repair", windows kind of repaired my card and it was all normal.
however today justnow it happened again and i can say that i would firstly ignore the possibility that my card is the cause of the problem. it is pretty new, too.

updated camera360 ultimate v2.5.5
now i hv 3 questions to ask:
1) for the purpose of using darktremor stably, 05mountsd in /system/etc/init.d is removed. is this any related?
2) for the other 3 hardware possibilities, which one do u think is the most possible to happen?
the battery ITSELF? (i am abit suspecting this as my battery deplets faster than those reported times in kernel thread, eg they got 70% left when normal 10 hrs usage with 3g on while i got only 20% left of the same situation)
or would there be any problems on those wires connecting the battery?
3) is this mostly happen when sd card is "suddenly physically unmounted"? any experiences? so should i repartition my sd card? (takes a long time )
please as my school work is very busy i dont have enough time to try everything possible
if you have experienced any similar things before please tell me or please help me if you got any idea!!! thank you!!

I've had my phone for only about a month, and this problem started for me about four days ago. There are older threads about this issue, but I couldn't find an answer as to what is causing the problem. The only major change that I made around the time that this started is that I began using S2E (for apps and dalvik cache). Previously, I had not been using any method of apps2sd beyond what is possible in CM7. Could the problem be connected to that?
I have exactly the same problem.
But with me, all the buttons flicker the times and sometime the display shows weird text..
Anyway,i am using miks 6.5.7 with goldenleaf franco 19.4 v18a gbs cfs
I thought it was not on Francos..
I think I am going to install a catlog to see what is happening. My problem appeared first after flashing dt on mik I think. But have fully whiped, reflashed and etc.
If you have a solution, please tell

hopefully you are using moderate cpu settings and yes darktremor does causes issues like sd card not mounting, phone hanging sometimes and rebooting.
so the ultimate solution use s2e and check ur overclock settings.
if not, than do a clean install and use s2e for cm7 rom which works wonders, remember s2e only works with cm7 rom
I'm using S2E, and this has nothing to do with overclocking. This is happening when the phone is in standby, at any clock speed.

Hi There!
I am running Stock Galaxy SII and lately maybe 1-2 times a day my phone switches off. I am not sure why? How can I troubleshoot this? Are logs kept on the device as to the reason for shutdowns?
It happen me too with a stock rom when i tryed to move some applications from the phone memory to the SD (using the setting menu).
What i understood is that if you move appications that was auto installed in the phone memory, the phone itself start to be crazy and do random power off.
Now i flashed a custom rom and reinstalled all applications. I let applications to install automatically in the default memory storage position (sometime is the SD and sometime is the phone memory, it depend if the application itself is designed to work with the Frojo android version or not).
I noticed that now the phone stopped to do random power off so, i presume, the problem is fixed.
Hope this will help you too.
I looked at the similar threads and none them had to do with my phone. I think it has to do with the sd card as I have unmounted it and it doesn't seem to restart. Today it was restarting about ever 10 minutes. I looked at the log cat and it has no terrible faliures just a bunch of errors which seem to keep occuring but not restarting my phone afterwords. Some of these errors are parsing error in audiofilter.csv, write int failed to open sys class leds red brightness, console unable to post message :0 and a few other random errors. But the audio one and the console messages appear way more often. The sys class leds appeared only once. Is there something I can do to fix this? I just had the phone flashed with the ICS 2.3.7 Rom and everything seemed fine til today.
1) what phone are u using?
2) which kernel are u using?
3) which rom are u using?
4) did you install any new apps/scripts prior to the problem?
1. LG Optimus V
2. 2.6.32.9-v3.3 [email protected]# 1
3. ICSandwich2.3.7 - Final Edition [November 29, 2011]
4. Micdroid, 4shared, micdroid, rootexplorer, and updates for superuser.
Those are the only things I have installed when flashing this rom like the night before yesterday. Also the kernel is the one that the rom came with it seems like all roms I have used so far have this kernel I would really like a different kernel if possible. Other than that I really think it has to do with the sdcard. I have it unmounted and ever since then it has stopped restarting the phone. I have had this same problem with all roms no matter which one I use even when I first got the phone and didn't touch anything on it. The phone randomly restarts when the sdcard is mounted and when trying to play games that are on the sdcard the phone freezes. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue because I don't have a bunch of space on the phone itself to store games so they work and I can't keep the sdcard mounted as it will restart the phone there must be something that can fix this sdcard issue.
Are you using any ext partitions? seems to me as though the sd card is faulty, have you tried with another sd card? does the problem persist when the sd card is NOT mounted?
how about u try reformatting your sd card, after backing up the contents, then remount it.
"I think it has to do with the sd card as I have unmounted it and it doesn't seem to restart." First post. "Other than that I really think it has to do with the sdcard. I have it unmounted and ever since then it has stopped restarting the phone." Second post. So yes I have unmounted the sd card and the problem no longer presists. Just one thing that does happen even with the sd card unmounted which would be the web stops working. I have to turn off the mobile data for a second or so then turn it back on then it starts to work again. But this doesn't seem to happen too often. I will get back to you tomorrow on the reformatting the card as it is a little late and I am going to be going to bed soon.
Well it would seem like formatting the card didn't do anything for it and I have tried different ones they are all identical cards though. Also I have the issue of the phone shutting down entirely with no notice or anything. Like I could have it on to charge and later I go to it and find that it is off completely even though it is on the charger. I could have it where I can see it on the charger and keep an eye on it but it shows no sign of turning the screen on and telling me of it going to shut off. So is it that the phone gets overheated and shuts off with no notice or what?
This **** used to happen to me when I had go launcher... no root... no custom ROM, nothing, go launcher made me do my 1st factory reset... I woke up every night when it kept doing the boot sound... then I got bootloops... after 1 month, thought I give GO launcher another try... this time I had it rooted... so I just flashed cm7, did a full wipe, and now I am happy with it...

Well this rom doesn't have go launcher it has ics theme with magic locker which I think might be causing some issues.
I had the same problems with my Optimus One and 2.2, but I could stop it by not turning wifi off.
I know, it sounds completely unrelated and I didn't even want to try it at first but it stopped my phone from rebooting randomly. My device did "only" reboot once or twice a day, though.
Then it may not be the wifi either. It has to be something. I haven't had this many issues since I got the phone. I guess I will be flashing to a rom that hasn't given me little to no issues.
I have decided to reformat my phone with a different rom. Now I have BACKside-IHO-VM670-12072011 ([ROM+Kernel] Inferior Human Organs unofficial CM7.1) it has only restarted on me once within 2 days but the main problem is that even though I have wiped the battery stats and the battery is at 100% while on the charger and I am using it after 3 hours it seems to shut off like it is dead when I leave it for a minute. It just has a black screen and it won't power up. I have to remove the battery and put it back in and then it comes on and boots up and says it is still at 100%.
Hi Folks,
i guess my Xperia Pro (= Xperia Neo + keyboard, Android 2.3.4) is dying on me, it doesn't start anymore. I am actually not quite sure if this thread should really be here, as this may well be a general problem with SONY Xperia's, mods feel free to move it if so.
Here is what is happening:
Before, when i shut down the phone and connected it to the charger, a kind of BIOS screen flashed up shortly after that, showing 'SONY Ericsson' and then some simple graphics displaying the loading status of the battery.
Now, if i shut down the phone normally, these BIOS screens are not there anymore, and subsequently the phone can also not be started. Here is what i have to do get it working again:
- pull the battery
- wait for 5 - 10 mins
- connect the phone to the charger with NO battery inserted
- wait for the 'SONY Ericsson' screen, then insert the battery quickly
The phone will then startup normally. The following potential problems were checked:
- battery is fully loaded
- SD card removed, to no avail
- SIM card removed, to no avail
Phone is rooted, and has a 1 GB EXT3 partition on the SD card as ROM extension (SD Link).
Strange enough, the phone is also sometimes not correctly recognized on my laptop. If that happens, also SONY's support program for Windows, called 'PC Companion 2.0', is unable to connect to the phone when on USB.
What could that be ? Is my battery dying on me ? That's highly unlikely, because the phone is only 3 months old and i can run the phone for 3 days without recharging, if necessary (Thanks to root, removing facebook and the like, and the app 'SetXperia').
On the other side, the missing recognition from my Laptop would most likely indicate a problem with that BIOS being loaded from the ROM, no ? Do ANDROID phones even have something like a BIOS ? If so, is it made by the phone manufacturers ?
Thank you for helping me out, as i have rooted the phone i can not easily send it to service.
Regards
Christian
ADDENDUM / 0% battery problem related :
It may so happen that my problem is somehow related to the fuel gauge problem reported in this thread here, but i never experience a 0% loading state ? My batter never goes lower than 30% typically, and the restart problem will also happen if the battery status was showing 98% when i am shutting it down. However, it seems that the guys suffering from this do have a similar problem, i.e. the KERNEL not booting when they try to switch on the phone ?
Is it possible that some hardware part in the phone checks the status of the battery, detects it as too low and refuses to start-up, even though the battery is actually full ? But then, why doesn't it start with battery inserted when i connect it to the charger ? I first have to pull the battery, then it will start ?
ADDENDUM 2 / Power Saving App SetXperia messing with CPU clock:
As mentioned above, i am using the app 'SetXperia' to save battery. In 'default' mode it will constantly vary the CPU clock according to real need, in order to save on battery. Can this app confuse the fuel gauge, and my battery show it is fully loaded, while in reality it is almost down ?
Sounds to me like you removed an app that you shouldn't have. This happened to me the first time I rooted my Xperia Pro. Ended up in an endless boot loop.
The fix? Factory reset of the phone via PC Companion. There's information on exactly how to do it in PC Companion.
After it's reset, you can re-root it. Then be more careful about what you remove.

Hi, thanks for the input, but i am pretty sure this is not the case. Here is what i removed, using Titanium Backup:
SONY Sales Demo
Facebook 1.7.1
Facebook Setup 2.0.A.0.2
Facebook Calendar Sync
Facebook Extension 2.0.13
Facebook Notification Publisher 1.0
Facebook Post Viewer 1.0.A.0.3
Fun & Downloads 2.2.3
Moxier Pro 2.4.0
Music Unlimited 1.0.2
SEMC Facebook Proxy 1.0.A.0.7
Games and Applications 1.0.A.0.6
Street View 1.7.0.4
Twitter Extension 2.0.9
UEFA.com 1.0.0
Video Unlimited 1.2.0
Xperia HotShots 0.1.1
Anyhow, i have made a backup of all of them in Titanium before de-installation, so i could restore them if you really think that any of them could have an influence on whether the KERNEL (BIOS) will start after being shut down ?
moving posts here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471928&page=2
Hey Guys,
So I flashed to CM10a3 a while back, but have been having some issues with which I'm hoping someone can help. The issues are:
Battery Indicator is sometimes inaccurate - Usually after the phones has to reboot
not too big of a deal
If the Battery Indicator is at 100%, the phone will not charge even if the battery is almost dead
This is very annoying as my phone randomly died at the beginning of the day a few times, but I'm going to try turning the phone off, and seeing if it will charge
When the phone reboots, any apps that did not come with CM10 cannot access internal or external SD cards
To fix this I have to go into the terminal and create links to the SD cards and the proper directories. I use
mount -o bind /storage/sdcard0 /mnt/sdcard
mount -o bind /storage/sdcard1 /mnt/sdcard-ext
Then my apps work just fine.
I've been looking at the init*.rc files, but quickly learned a Linux lesson as these were unpacked and overwritten on the next reboot. Is there a way to make permanent changes to these files to resolve this issue and the next one?
When the phone reboots, USB Debugging is always turned back on
My phone won't hook up to my car with USB Debugging on, so I'd like to turn this off and leave it off by default.
When the screen turns off while on a call (proximity sensor or timeout), the phone locks up until the person on the other end hangs up. This does not happen if the phone is plugged into a power source or USB device
This is my biggest grievance, I'll try to get a logcat and post it up for this issue.
The Gallery works just fin, however the "Gallery" in the camera app hangs all the time, making it near impossible for me to take any pictures with my phone.
I don't mind that the video recording doesn't work, but I'd like to be able to take pics of the kids
I know some of these seem pretty minor, but I spend 15-18 hours a week in the car, and that is the primary reason I use my phone (Traffic app, playing music via USB, bluetooth calls). Given that I can be in the car for 1-1.5 hours at a time, having the battery die, or the phone reboot at the start of that drive makes things unpleasant for me (I also use the traffic app to watch out for speed traps )
Also, any word on an updated GAPPS?
Honestly your best bet would be to go to cm10 alpha 2 or cm9 which to me is just more stable and the battery life is longer
I have a logcat of the phone call issue, however I"m reluctant to simply post it up online. Are there any details aside from my email address I should filter out? I have already trimmed the log to contain only information around the time of the issue.

Thanks for the tip, I'll look at one or both of those before reverting to a clean 2.3.4 rom. Hopefully I can avoid going back that far until the GS4 comes out on Verizon.
Hi guys.
I got a Galaxy Nexus long ago so I wasnt using my DS5 anymore.
Now I could give it to my father, BUT:
It still has the error of resetting once in a time.
I shut down the phone, start it again and it is set back to new flash. As if I did a clear data....
Has anybody found out why this is happening? I cannot give this phone away if this continues.
I have a 8 GB internal SD card. Could this be the problem? I simply cloned the 2 GB to the 8 GB and resized the partitions.
ROM is Traveller.
It's not just my ROM, but all Gingerbread ROMs. There is a bug where the Streak may reboot if it isn't actively used.
http://www.dell.com/support/trouble...cles/ArticleView?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&docid=436807
The solution I found is that when you put the Streak down for the night, say to go to sleep, put the Streak into airplane mode and take it off airplane mode when you first go to use it the following day. Note that this bug appears to only occur on WiFi, with mobile data unaffected. Also, reduce the number of widgets you have running, as too many widgets suck up the remaining RAM and will cause spontaneous reboots outside of the bug I just mentioned.
I haven't had a spontaneous reboot in over a month, and currently my mobile data is inactive.
