I did update through samsung PC Companion and the phone starts, but a little camera with arrow pointing at it shows for few seconds then the samsung name dominates till I remove the battery. I read about uninstalling software on computer so I did and updated again. It went through the process both times on 2 different computers. I have no idea about the xperia. I am on a droid x and love it. But I need to figure out how to get the xperia working again. Thanks in advance

Wait, you're using Samsung Kies(?) to update your Sony Ericsson x10?
That doesn't add up...
I must have missed something...
Use SEUS or PC Companion, that should fix it.

Try using SEUS or try pc companion using the 'repair' function and not update. Have u tried using flash tool? if that dont work, then u might be outta luck!

I just did seus and it went through and said phone was updated. I turn it on and the camera with the arrow pointing towards phone shows up and disappears. Then the sony ericsson screen comes up and stays there till I take the battery out.
The best I can figure out is that when the icon with the camera and the arrow pointing to the device means that the camera is being installed. This could be a long process. If the device is interrupted it might make the camera work wrong or not at all. If I am wrong on my analysis please let me know.
Is it a yellow triangle with the arrow in it?

Then let it be, it takes quite a while at times, so let it be, it will boot into the OS once it's finished.
I let it run till the battery died. Now I will charge it back up and try again. Thank you for the input.

what he said. Usually takes like 5-8 mins...gl
Well I guess I will reflash. I let it go for couple hours and drained the battery. I will get it accomplished if I keep trying and dont get in a hurry. This is a weird phone but I really want to try it.
After many attempts. The camera still comes on, I let it wait till drains battery still nothing. I am going to attempt to flash it back to 1.6 every time I do an update or repair it puts same software on it. I am letting it charge and will see what happens next
Finally after flashing 3 times, updating with pc companion 3 times, updating with seus 3 times. I have come to the conclusion that battery is to old to last long enough to install all of the software. I did find some excellent videos on youtube to help flash. I would post a link but I have not read to see if that is allowed. Will order new battery and do it all again. It is cool to mess with phones and figure things out.

Don't think any battery could stand 3 consecutive firmware flashes...
Flashing just drains too much...

Have you tried recalibrating your battery? that might give you some extra life yet...
Finally flashed back to 1.6 now phone is working. I need a sim to activate to get into phone. It is stuck on emergency call screen. I had to charge the battery after each flash. I came to the conclusion if it takes longer than an hour and a half there is something not right. Will try to optimize as soon as I can get into phone. Many thanks to all

I KNOW IT SOUNDS LIKE REPOST, BUT, TODAY I WAS ABOUT TO INSTALL A CUSTOM ROM ON MY SE, BUT, i didn't notice that my phone was like 0,5% of battery, and when i entered in xrecovery and started the installation, it suddenly stop. now i have a bootloop, and i can't acces to xrecovery, my phone just starts, says Sony Ericcson and then blacks out. IF ANYBODY PLZ COULD HELP ME plz. just need to enter on xrecovery
Charge it up.
Then use flash tool or SEUS to restore back to STOCK.
Then reinstall xrecovery,flash the ROM,Enjoy.
about that, i can't charge, i connect it and charge a little but then it starts with the SE logo and blacks out again... :S
Had the same problem, i took it to service center. They charged the battery on desktop charger to fix it.

just keep it connected to the charger for an hour or so...
Ok, i had to do this twice now, as i bricked it a couple of weeks ago
you'll have to reflash with sony ericsson update service here:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/supp...10?cc=gb&lc=en
Follow the instructions and press the back button before plugging in the cable.
Download the software and keep in mind that playing around with roms will result in these problems so don't go too far.
If that doesnt work, try this:
1. Take your battery out.
2. Hold the back button. Make SEUS running and ready.
3. Plug it into the computer.
4. Put your bateery back in.
Follow the instructions. Hopefully it would work and good luck
If it worked dont forget to hit thanks button.

Hi,
I bought a mini pro sk17i a week back. I updated the phone via pc companion to 2.3.4 (4.0.2.A.0.58). The phone was working fine, but after 2 days it started to reboot itself after a call. after 5 continuous reboot i reset the phone (erased all data), then it worked fine for 2 days. Today while i was shopping i made a call, then it started to reboot. One of the things i noticed was from that point any number i dialed was not showing in the call logs. i couldnt reset the data as i was busy shopping and kept the phone in ma pocket. Later i find the phone is switched off mode. I tried pressing power button but nothing happens. Took the battery out and re inserted the battery. did a reset and it started to work fine. When i took the battery out it was a lil hot (warm) and the phone was also warm (battery area).
Here are my questions;
1.Why did this happen.
2. The phone was a lil hot when i removed the battery, can any part inside the phone be damaged if it goes hot.
3. Is this because of hardware problem/Software problem.
(I did a full reflash using flashtool and the latest firmware, till now its working fine.. dunno if this will happen again)
seems like firmware problem to me.
take the phone to service center if haplens again.
but I guess its fixed now, tho I dont know the reason, might be something happened by updating
It happened again. I flashed back to 4.0.2.A.0.42. What could be the problem.

This might be due to any software you installing after flashing...
Try to remember what you do after flashing and uninstall that software
Else get global copy of .58 update and flash that .ftf packageby using flashtool...

Have you had this issue since flashing back to .42?
We will roll out a new software starting next week (.6x) mainly meant to improve the memory management to avoid reboots. Might be exactly what you need.
The roll out will start 12W02 but all phones won't get it at the same time so I cannot say for sure when your phone will get it.
Please post again and let me know when you got this so I know if it helped or not.

Hi Markus, Thanks for the response. As soon as i bought the phone i updated the firmware using pc companion. The flashing part went fine and the phone was working fine for 3 days, then it started reboots and turnoffs. I reinstalled the firmware and the same happened again. Then i observed this repeatedly happens when i finish call or lock the phone once it happens. i Also noticed the last called persons info is not stored in call log. But if u plug it for charging then the phone is fine. I rolled back to the previous .42 version. It was working fine for 4 days, yesterday after an hour of music playback (battery was around 44% or below) this happened again. i turned off the phone once it started restarting itself . then turned it on and cleaned the call logs. From that point its working fine without any shutdowns/restarts. Please help, i'm pretty sure that this is not a hardware issue. if the phone can run fine for 3 days without any probs..

me too when i use GPS or Wlan (.42 and .58 Firmware).
Thanks for the info.
I suggest you wait for the new update (.6x) which should hopefully be available for your phone very soon. If this won't fix the problem you have or if you don't feel like waiting for it (I cannot give an exact date when you will get it) you should contact a service center and have them examine the phone and do whatever necessary to get it working properly.
Repair routines varies a lot depending on market and local laws so you should give the local support a call and ask for some info about this if you choose to go with the service option.

Oops, double post.
I have bought xps about 20 days ago. Yesterday and today , while I was surfing the net via wifi (both times) , my phone suddenly switched off and made a restart. Did anyone experience a problem like this ?? It never happened before.
Not had that problem - infact I was just thinking today that I haven't restarted my phone for a week.. and it still feels super smooth... which I've never experienced before on Android!
Never had a sudden restart, lag or unresponsive device. Seems that you are the only one here with such a luck...
Is this a reason for returning my phone to Sony? Is sony obliged to replace my device with another one?

Unfortunately sudden restarts are very common in the android world. I think 80% of the android smartphones had at least once this problem. You should wait to see if it happen again and if so try a hard reset or a software repair using sony pc companion. If it will become a common problem even with other users sony with a future update it will fix the problem. What software version do you have .62 .67 or .73 ?
Hi,
If you have this reboot issue
Nothing can resolve this!
But,just in case
Do not use your phone with charger pluged in for long time!
This kill your battery very quick!
And cause autoreboot
And be careful with internet!
If you flash some FW or rom or kernel
Made a full charge before flash
Ciao
I've had this happen to me on my Xperia S twice already while using it.
It also randomly restarts while in standby once in awhile.
Not sure what's causing this. Any suggestions?

If it's not happening very offen like twice a day, the only thing you can do is wait for the 4.0 update, because If you look in all the other android smartphone forums you will see that every android model have this issue from time to time. I think is something like the Windows OS bluescreen...very very difficult for normal users to detect where is the problem. I think with the 4.0 update the problem it will be solved. But if the Xperia S become unstable and randomly rebooting every day try a software repair with pc companion and if this is not solving the problem just go to a Sony support center and give them the smartphone for replacement.
I have the reboot twice
Refresh ROM good!
Hi, my phone also has random restarts. It becomes sluggish and unresponsive, then just restarts.
I think mine has done it once or twice when just in standby mode as well.
I actually got my first Xperia S replaced as it had this problem, but the replacement is also suffering from it.
Seen a few other people saying they have the same over on the Sony forums, so I think its a software problem somewhere.

I have .73. I didn't flash my device nor I use it when charges(and I don't let it charging for hours).
I think that there was not enough RAM at that time but I am not sure. I'll have to check it out.
I just experienced the same problem not too long ago. I was web browsing and my phone crashed and rebooted on it's own. I'm on the phone with Sony right now because I have the youtube issue as well. This sounds like a software issue.
Had mine since March 6. So far only one random reboot, none since update to 6.0.A.5.6

I called Sony Mobile Canada to report this issue. I told her others are having this issue as well. She's going to escalate it. I would like to encourage everyone who's having this problem to call Sony tech support in your Country and let them be aware of this issue. The more people call about this issue, just maybe they will work on a software fix sooner rather than later. Strength in numbers!
No restart on mine
I heavy use internet 3G/wifi on it
But,
I never flash anything on mine with flashtool or seus or pcc
Pure stock FW.67
12w14
AAD-AV
Only 2 "big" issue
Phone freeze one time
when plug charger in
VolumeUp+power solve the bug,
And the yellow tint on the screen.
Normally, when the phone keep autoreboot,or autopowerOff
It is caused by a dead battery
You can identify it
by keep hold power when the phone restart by itself
and at reboot
If the led blink 3 time red when holding power
That's indicated battery die
Or made a battery test in service *#*#7378423#*#*
But your phone is new !
So try a full charge with reset battery to get best power (volumeUp + power 5second one vibrate)
If your phone is rooted
you can delete manualy "power_supply"
in sys/class and reboot
with charger pluged in
After that,
try a full restore with seus with wipe data ect..
Can't help more :-(
Ciao

Hello,
Yesterday I got my new full case for my Xperia X10i. I changed it myself viewing a tutorial on YouTube. I don't know why, but my phone was stuck in the familiar SE logo boot loop. I read all the possible answers here, tried them all. I went to a software service, they said it's not a software problem. I went to hardware service, they said the hardware is working fine, everything is fine.
I was using Gingerbread version 2.3.3 version on my phone, never changed, never bricked, never nothing "wrong" done to the phone. Now, I've followed every instruction here, tried with PC Companion, SEUS, FlashTool; everything with no luck...
I'm asking you, because I'm amateur, noob, and I don't want to lose my Xperia. What am I supposed to do? What to try?
Oh yes, and when using Flashtool I'm getting the UNROOTABLE tip on one line...
Any ideas, tips or tricks to repair my phone?
Thank you very much!
Edit: The hardware service that said the phone's hardware was fine, said that the last hope for my phone is to do something under the sticker (the sticker under the battery) that needs wired connecting to something... I didn't understand him...

It was the display that was the problem with the phone. I got it replaced and now it's working!

Hello everyone...
I'm a new member, but certainly not new to this great forum! Unfortunately, though, my first post is to report - and ask for help with - a little disaster!
Okay, so, without further ado, here's how it went down.
I had flashed both phones with ICS earlier, but wanted to get them back to the factory ROM. Having bought yet another U, I found out that the original GB ROM for phones sold in Saudi Arabia is st25i_6.0.b.3.188, as opposed to .184, which I had also flashed the phones with after I had some issues with the aforementioned ICS.
So, last night I located and downloaded the .188 kernel and flashed it using the flashtool. As it usually happens, the flashtool window seemed to go all black, as though the application had hung on me, which wasn't the first time this had happened. I just gave it some time as I normally do and then disconnect the phone, and that never caused any problems. To my surprise, though, when I first started the phone and checked the "about phone" tab in settings, it turned out that the installed version was .184!
So, again, I attempted to reflash the thing, this time being sure to remove all other kernels from the firmware folder within the flashtool. I then just let it do its thing and went off to bed (bad idea!).
In the morning, though, the phone simply wouldn't start. If I hook it to either the computer or the charger, the LED near the front camera will light up red, indicating that the battery is being charged, but nothing else. I can't even boot into recovery mode!
So, now what can I possibly do (besides buying a new one, that is)?

:good: Thanks dude! It fired up on its own as soon as I plugged it into the charger! I just charged up the batter to full 100%, and I'm about to try to reflash it for the third time. What I don't get, though, is why the battery got drained when the phone had been plugged into the laptop all night! There was about 82% of charge left in the battery when I first plugged it into the machine.
I'll report back again after reflashing. Thanks again.

Charging via usb is very slow and if you've left something like wifi on all night then there's no doubt that it you're battery is gonna die
Any way , why GB ? The .89 ICS is supposedly awesome . Haven't tried it myself but, I've heard rave reviews from all the people who have.

Yeah, that's probably it. I had this (obviously misguided) idea to try to get the phone back to the exact way it was out of the box, and then wait (and wait, and wait...) for Saudi Arabia's turn for the ICS update. Now I know better, thanks to you and all the other helpful folks over here!
