Unlocked boot screen - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I've had my new atrix for about two weeks. I've rooted and unlocked it. I was wondering if there was a way to get rid of the unlocked screen at boot. It lengthens my boot time and just plain. Any help is much appreciated.

I don't believe the boot logo lengthens your boot time, however if you're worried about boot time, then you can disable the boot animation by editing the build prop (system/build.prop) and change this value
debug.sf.nobootanimation=1
if it's plainness you're worried about then you can check out my tutorial on making and changing your boot logo

Thank you so much for this. What I mean is since I unlocked the bootloader it seems to stick on the stupid red M longer, and in the upper left hand side it says unlocked. But the M is boring so i'm going change it to something else, maybe droid killing apple . Again, thank you!

Sounds good to me. FYI, the only time I replaced my Eris I still had a custom bootscreen (not boot animation); I told them about it and they still replaced it. I did "brick" my phone otherwise so they couldn't tell I rooted it at the store I replaced it at, and I never heard anything about it after, either, and this was four months ago.
thanks.. Yea Im on a employees account so she wanted me to make sure all was good before I shipped it off.. On a side note I have been on the stock eris all day and I have had to stop myself a billion times from tossing it out the window..

Bootloader Status On Launch Day?

Has there been any word from sprint or HTC about the status of the e3d bootloader on launch day?
it will be locked at launch which is not a problem. the problem is that it will be cryptographically signed at launch

well technically every phone is locked but the term locked/encrypted is used with one another so my question is about the encryption status at launch?
HTC has had almost a month from when they reversed their policy til launch. I was wondering if they are ready
I can't find the link, but I thought I read somewhere a week or so back on Android Central (maybe) that the 3D will ship encrypted then later on (who knows how long) HTC will offer a software update that will un-encrypt it so we can have access to the bootloader/nand and be able to write ROMs and Kernels.
I could be wrong, so take it with a grain of salt
They get 30 days to unlock my phone...and then it gets returned and I swear off HTC for good....too bad, I hate samsung phones... Their radios suck

why? they have already said they will unlock it. do you know how long it takes to get things done in the real world? they will have to create a tool or new bootloader that is switchable. these things need to be created and thoroughly tested before rolling out to avoid potentially bricking phones. not to mention all the red tape im sure they will have to go through with the carriers. it will happen, but i wouldnt guess within 30 days so you might as well just not buy it.
now the devs who got the dump with the engineering bootloader may get the phone unlocked within that time frame but thats a different story

exactly thats why i started a different thread trying to discuss the official unlocking vs unofficial. Unless this engineering leak really came from HTC to keep us happy why they try to do their thing.
But I for one would love to know what their plan is.

eh I should have been more specific i was referring to the samsung phones being pieces of crap I can wait for the unlocking no biggie there.
Depending on how the phone operates out of the box, I think I can wait however long it takes for them to unlock it. I don't use wireless tether hardly at all, and aside from that, that's the only reason I would need to root it. I prefer stock ROMs sometimes, as long as they're responsive. I can go with custom ROMs built to look stock if the stock ROM functions crappy.
I will tell you the status when I have the phone in my hands.... LOL

Just curious...Will something like Z4 root work to get us the ability to use wireless tether? I don't need all the custom roms right away but would like to still be able to tether my nook!

So I've got my new 3D and I'm assuming S-boot is ON, but I can't boot into the bootloader menu to check by holding the volume and power keys down. How does one check it on the 3D?

Fast Boot is enabled which is why the phone boots up so fast. When you power off the phone it is in hibernation and not completely shut down. Disable fast boot from menu>settings and you should be able to boot into it by pressing volume down and power.
right on - thanks unCoRrUpTeD.
S-ON as expected

[Q] Atrix Screen Death Overheating

So I'm watching =3 on the youtube app on my atrix (alien rom) and the screen starts having these purple lines.
I cut out of the application to the home screen (desktop what ever its called) and the lines are exagerated.
I try locking the screen and unlocking and now its black.
Pull battery reboot, everything lights up I hear noises but the screen stays back
I took it apart (sim and all) because i noticed it was overheating and am now just letting it cool down.
any ideas ?
Also the phone seems to constantly boot when connected to any power source regardless of the battery being in
So I purchased he phone fairly recently and although the firmware was modified i was thinking about just taking it to AT&T and trying to have them replace it.
Since they can't actually use the phone to tell if it was modified

As long as there is no unlock in the upper left corner which I'm guessing there isn't with the screen totally blank then you should be alright when you take it in for a exchange but >,> if you wanna mess with it a lil try the methods to get it to fast boot and see if you can try some of the commands to tell how far along is it most likely it isn't anything to do with the system as is and is a screen malfunction possibly due to the heat. to wipe your data simply use the "fastboot -w" command then try rebooting just to see if it is in fact the screen.
Did you have it overclocked?
If "Yes", did you have profiles set up agains overheating?

Nope, I actually had it setup to clock between 600 and 700 mhz to control heat but promote preformance

Are you being serious or trolling? This happened to a guy on a different device forum. They managed to get the firmware and shared it.

Bricked my brand new phone already....

Alright so long story short I tried to rush through rooting my new phone here without checking everything out too much (complete fail on my part...but I wanted it rooted before I went out to the bars to save some battery life haha...ironic, now I'll have no phone tonight).
I went to root it and it somehow got screwed up...the sense launcher wasn't showing up along with the fact that when I pulled down the notification bar and hit settings, it crashed, so I went to unroot it with the RUU 1.13.651.1 and when I got to the comparison screen it said I had 1.13.651.1_R2...and being already frustraited at this point, decided how worse could it get? Tried it out, not my brand new phone is stuck at the black htc screen....fail.
Anyone have any suggestions on what to do? I tried running it again to no avail...I'm about to try the other RUU to just see if it works, but I'm running out of other ideas. Anyone that can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
awesome first post and congrats on your new paperweight

he could try to unlock his bootloader, manually flash the recovery and flash a rom thru there ^_^
but since he even failed at one click root, how will he do all that?

Not that hard if he actually takes his time and reads before doing anything. If he can unlock the bootloader with htcdev and flash a recovery he should be ok

Easy. Hold the volume buttons down while you turn the phone on then choose to reformat or restore or whatever the option is.

Well, the good news is the phone is not hard bricked, it has a soft brick and is recoverable. Redownload the RUU and try again, but make sure you have the correct one. If that doesn't work you'll have to unlock with htcdev, flash a recovery and flash a ROM. Then try the RUU again if you no longer want root.
Like others have said...it sounds like there is hope for your phone yet. Take your time and CAREFULLY follow instructions for whichever process you choose. Hopefully you post again later saying you were able to fix it.

First off don't feel too bad, No matter how sure you know what your doing we all make mistakes. I paperweighted mine while manually installing some mods last night. If you would of watched the how to RUU the evo lte you would of seen that that the black HTC screen is perfectly normal. The phone will sit on that screen for like 10 minutes sometimes it will reboot and sometimes you will get differnt screens. The key is to have the drivers handy and install them if ur PC ever calls the device android 1.0.
The RUU version 1.13.651.1_R2 is the one you should be using. As scary as it is you just need to be patient, and let the RUU run it may look like nothing is happening but something is.

Removing "unlocked" from boot screen

Not really sure. Besides, the unlocked text is kindof a sign of bragging rights. Is it not? :good:
Haha you have a point. A cool plus would be to change the boot logo itself to say "unlocked" smoother. Then again, I'm probably asking for too much like normal
