[Q] Is AT&T modem UCKH7 compatible with i9100? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Got the unlocked international SGSII and am currently using DLEV Rom 2.0 which is android 2.3.5 with XXKI3. I'm wondering if it's ok to flash the UCKH7 modem from the AT&T SGSII. I'm guessing that if it is compatible, it should work better than the modems that are not specifically made for the AT&T network? And yes, I did forget to mention I am currently in the U.S. Whaddya think? I'm getting anxious to try it but I don't want to accidentally brick my phone. Holla back!

Bumping this up. edifish, did you go for it? how did it end?

Was this ever tried? I also have an Samsung i9100 (international version) and am on AT&T in Texas. I would like to see if this modem would provide faster service in my area.

According to someone who tried data worked but voice calls didn't.
You shouldn't be able to brick the baseband, worst case reflash via odin. But still beware.

I was also wondering about this. Anyone else able to provide any info/experiences? I may try it myself but was wondering if a) there was any benefit and b) if there were any downsides (ie the claim above of voice not working). A second first-hand experience would be nice

Just tried it, and can confirm that data works, but voice does not. I can place calls, but the mic doesn't work.

T Mobile roms on att note

Hi new user to the att note. Tried to Google this question but couldn't find an answer. Is it possible to use a tmo rom on an att note? Thanks

Yes, go to the tmobile note forum and follow the instructions you can easily find in the general section. When I have a minute I well post a link to the thread I used.

Did you input the APN settings?
Yes i used apn manager to import. I keep getting insert sim card and in my pull down screen it saysno service select network (tmobile) unavailable. But if i reflash padawan. The sim card reads but on edge. Is there something going wrong with the sim card reader when changing radios?

It will prob work as is, but you could also potentially achieve faster data speeds by flashing other modems.

You have to flash both the modem and Radio for T-mobile. I believe if you are flashing a Tmobile Rom then the modem is included but that's the tricky part- I never found a reliable modem/radio combination on the T-mobile Rom that gave me the consistency of the AT&T Roms. Also, I noticed that frequently I would have to wait for a few minutes after flashing something new before I would get mobile signal.
After flashing the Tmobile Rom the last time I lost the ability to return to AT&T Roms. I would flash and flash and still get no carrier signal. I had to revert back completely to stock- unroot and start over. Luckily this is VERY easy using Odin. Maybe you should try this and start over.

[Q][JB] Callers not being able to hear my voice.

Hey guys, I've got this weird issue, which I can't seem to get resolved myself, so I'm here to ask U guys for some help.
Basically I've got the EU version of the S3.
AP: I9300XXDLIH
CP:I9300CEDLI1
CSC: I9300PHNDLI1
Phone has not been rooted, has no custom ROM or anything of that kind. I'm running stock JB.
So now to the actual problem:
After updating to JB, my friends told me they couldn't hear me AT ALL anymore when calling. When both receiving and making calls.
The funny part is that when I call with Viber, Skype or send messages through HeyTell, it all works fine.
Long story short, normal calling -> no-one hears me. Calling over the "internet" -> no problem at all.
So my guess is this is a software-related problem rather than a hardware one?
Anyways I hope someone will be able to help me out, or atleast provide me with some advice!
Thanks in advance,
Raain
Ofcourse it is a software problem. Did you try factory reset?
Or try different mobile operator?

changing csc to your country will apparently do the trick although csc does wipe your phone but.

Odin is not the problem. I flashed my phone with Odin while my father flashed it with Samsung kies. Before the JB update we had no problems calling people and after the update we have randomly problems, while we are making calls we don't hear any sounds. Last time i called a person (didn't hear any sounds too) and after a min or 2 i hang up. I called him back and he said he picked up the phone and didn't hear anything.
Jellybean 4.1.1 is the issue, i hope samsung fixed it on 4.1.2
We shouldn't have to change csc after an update from OTA but hey its Samsung were talking about

[Q] Second-hand Bell i9100m to stock

A friend of a friend was giving us a lift today, and she asked if we could turn on navigation on her phone since she was in the middle of driving. Her phone is a Galaxy S II, definitely i9100 and not the other variants (4.3" not 4.5", physical home button). She was running it on Telus but she bought it second-hand a few weeks ago so I assume it was a Bell or Virgin model.
Anyway I could see from afar that it was most definitely still running Gingerbread, and I wondered why it hadn't gotten the ICS update. I asked if I could see the phone and I went to the About screen - it's running 2.3.6, and the build number says Super ROM. Then I looked in her app drawer and saw Superuser. She is not the type who knows how to root a phone or would even want to, so the likely explanation is that the seller had installed a custom ROM and neglected to revert it before sale.
I've never owned an i9100... If she were to ask for help returning it to stock, would the simplest way just be to flash the Bell ICS ROM using Odin? Are there any precautions I'd need to take in case something the last owner had installed would be incompatible with the flash?

To be clear, she is a non power user. The ideal ROM for her is whatever would've been on there by now if it had never been hacked. So I believe that'd be ICS.

Just flash the ics of bell version since shes not a power user i did the same for wife shes has no intentions of using any custom roms for her just basic use
and i assume you know where too get that and yes flash in odin the stock version either from here you can get it or samfilmware ics version for 19100m
cheers
Thanks!
Actually I should add... The SuperROM she had on there said the device was i9100G. Is it possible that's just because it's what it says in the ROM, and it's still really an i9100m? Cause now I see they have different processors...

Hey. You better first make sure that the Galaxy S unlock tool isn't there, otherwise that's how the seller sim-unlocked the phone. Putting it on ics may lock it back up but you can unlock it again. If you move it to jellybean though, the unlock tool doesn't work yet. Ics is good enough for her.

Hey I'm also looking to update my phone and I'm sort of in the same situation as this girl. I bought my phone second hand and found out later that it was rooted and has CyanogenMod 7.1 on it. My model is the I9100 and my provider is Telus. I was looking to update it to CM10, but one of my concerns is that it might get locked again and I won't be able to use my phone on Telus. Should I just settle for CM9? Will it for sure get locked again? I'm a noob.

Presumably if it's genuinely an i9100G and not m (I'm not sure, as I only saw the phone once), it wasn't from a Canadian carrier. In which case who knows how it was unlocked.

Umniah network - amman jordan

Hello, i have just moved to amman, jordan and i bought an umniah network simcard but i have a strange problem. It keeps drops the signal all the time. The same sim on other phones works perfectly and other samsung phones like the note 2 or grant work as they should. I was thinking that the problem might be the modem. Im on rootbox 4.1. I haven't tried a sammy rom yet cause i dont have a good internet connection yet. Anyone knows a good modem version to try? Thanks in advance..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
No one will be able to pinpoint a 'good' modem for you. Each person will need a different modem depending on their carrier and region. For example, I'm using XXMS2, while my brother, with the same phone but different carrier, is on DVLS3. I have a horrible signal with his modem, as he does with mine.
What you'll have to do is flash a few and test which works for you. They're not big files so you'll be fine to download a few without a good connection. Don't flash ril+modem, you want modem only.

Yes i know but there are so many of them and i asked here just in case any jordanian was here in this forum and advice me anw thanks a lot for the reply i will try and see whats happens. Cheers

Try the modems bundled with stock roms released by the carrier in question then the stock roms released by other carriers in that country first. That should help you narrow it down/save you some time.

Your current baseband should work fine since it is unlocked.
You can't put an I9100 modem on an I777. They are incompatible. However, you can put any number of I777 modems on there. They are all available in a sticky thread in the development forum. As azeem40 said, the one you have on there now should work okay. If the person who is receiving the phone is tech savvy, then perhaps you could show them where to get the modems and how to change it, so that they can pick the one that works the best for them.

Thank you very much, i thought that i9100 might not be compatible but since it is unlocked i felt it should work fine but was not quite sure and since i am giving it to one who does not know a bit about this stuff i thought if i could get some answers here i could make those changes back there to solve any issues, thank you once again.
You can refer the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361393 for i777 compatible modems.
