I am on roaming right now but connection is only 1xrtt but during the drive i did get evdo, is there a way to force 3g? Would a diff prl make a difference
You cant force 3g while roaming. It depends on the roaming partner. Verizon only provides 1x while roaming, while Alltel and some others do provide 3g roaming. It is based on agreements with sprint.
changing the prl 11115 force 3g with verizon.

Is there a way to use all 3 networks because 4G is now in my area and it would be nice if i could use that network for better speeds. But it seems that most roms are either GSM and 3G or 4G and Wimax is there any solution?

If you have a 4G capable GSM phone in America on a carrier such as T-Mobile or AT&T you can have 3G and 4G
If you have a 4G capable CDMA phone in America on a carrier such as Sprint or Verizon you can have 3G and 4G/LTE
GSM means the phone uses a SIM card.
CDMA phones don't use SIM cards.

In Australia we have Vodafone,Optus, etc that offer 2G (GSM) and 3g (WCDMA).
But Telstra Australia's biggest carrier now has 4G as well. I thought that maybe to access this new network I was restricted by the rom I am using, not the sim card. Because of the two different type of roms ie GSM and CDMA. Or is all controlled via my carrier?

your "4G" isn't really 4G, it's 3.5G.
It's still HSPA (WCDMA), just a faster version and your phone already supports taht. It will say either E(edge), 3G or 4G/H+
IF it is LTE that you are talking about Telstra getting, the 3vo does not support that network, there isn't an LTE radio on the device so no possible way for you to access it.

Thanks very much that was the answer i was looking for cheers.
I am currently using CONROMV5final ICS 4.0.3 SENSE 3.6 GSM and I cannot obtain any higher connection other than EDGE
My provider is FIDO CANADA GSM BAND 1900 only. Anyone able to get HSPA+ or 4g LTE or any high speed data connection please let me know, and which providers I am able to obtain it from here in Canada, I love htc rezound and would definitely switch providers if I can get any higher connection. Does anyone know any legit information that would help me get higher data connection? switching provider ect?
I'm new to the forums, any help is greatly appreciated

It needs to be the 2100 MHz band to work with 3G or HSPA+ with the Rezound. Idk if canada any carriers that use 2100 tho...

Thanks for all the help everyone I will give it a shot and find out what carriers here work with that frequencie, btw they are different threads, this one regards carrier/phone frequencies information and the other one simply just the ugly lockscreen message that seems to not go away no matter what rom I use, appreciate the help though
Canadian Carriers
Could anyone from Canada please confirm if they got either Bell, Telus, Rogers, or Virgin Mobile (any 4G or 4G/LTE) working on their Rezound with data, and if so how and what type of connection, anything higher than EDGE?

Really? what do you think about this
http://www.bell.ca/Mobility/Products/4G_LTE_SIM_card
It says right on that link "Device must be compatible on LTE AWS (1700 MHz) or LTE 700 MHz bands, or UMTS/HSPA compatible on 850 and 1900 MHz bands. See your device user guide for information about network compatibility."
Would that work full on 4G LTE possibly?

LTE, or Long Term Evolution, is considered a “true” 4G network. Theoretical speeds boast downlink speeds of 300Mbps and uploads of 75Mbps. LTE, which is an IP-based system, is a complete redesign and simplication of 3G network architecture resulting in a marked reduction in transfer latency. Because of this, LTE is not compatible with 2G and 3G networks and thus, functions on an entirely different wireless spectrum. Unfortunately, this means that erecting an LTE network requires it to be built from the ground up. This is one of the main factors behind the delayed launch of complete 4G LTE networks.

I'm pretty sure that's for LTE advanced. The LtE on verizon and AT&T and sprint is 73mb/s down for the theoretical max. LTE as we know it now is not a true 4G network. LTE Advanced, on the other hand, is.

I tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914122 and it worked for me. Now I get 3G and H and some places.
I'm going to switch to Tmo monthly 4G plan...
I know I9300 has no 4G but I would like to know whether it will be working?
Is it gonna automatically change to H+ or HSPA+ (something like that) or recieve no signals at all?
Thanks a lot.
It will move to HSPA when you do so if selected in settings. Most operators allow 4g users to switch back to 3g or 2g networks. Internet speed will be according to 3g coverage. But you should confirm that by calling the customer service.
Sent from Hell!!
it's obvious it will explode
sorry but this is a very boring morning... xD
NOOOOO! DON'T DO IT THE WORLD WILL END!!!..
Nah just kidding your speed will drop down to H+ nothing more.

Are you talking T-Mobile USA or in Europe? If you mean T-Mobile USA, you will only get EDGE (2G) data service.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Premium HD app
u just wont get the LTE speeds, but it should work
I recently got a T-MO version the One, and signed up for the $30 prepaid plan. First time on this. I never see a "3G" signal icon on top, it's either 4G or 2G. Does the prepaid plan not offer 3G service??
I was under the impressive that the 1900MHz refarmed areas have 3G. I'm in the Seattle area and saw on the map that there's plenty of coverage around for it, but as I said above, I have never seen "3G" on my phone.
Can anyone clear up my confusion? Thanks!
T-Mobile calls their HSPA+ service 4G. People in other parts of the world see a 3G or H or H+ icon when they have what T-Mobile calls 4G. So that's how it's supposed to work. It's not like you see 3G over PCS and 4G over AWS; they're the same thing and both show up as 4G on the stock T-Mobile ROM.

Think he's just saying that you won't see it called "3G" on the phone, because they market it as 4G.
My next question would be then, is there a difference in what you get with the 1700 and 1900MHz bands. Or are they the same 4G signal on different freqs?

That's a good simple explanation, thanks. It's all about the marketing. I usually refer to t-mo/att 4G HSPA+ as "faux-G" as a joke.
There's no theoretical difference between different frequencies. Practically speaking, there could be differences in congestion or coverage, but those are harder to evaluate obviously. Assuming a strong signal on either band, I'd expect them to perform more or less equivalently.

The refarmed 1900 band is limited to 21 Gb download. The HSPA+ on 1700 / 2100 allows 42 Gb download.

With the prepaid plan, do you get access to both? I'm hoping that because it's a cheap plan, you don't get only the slower signal.
they dont do like AT&T does, you get access to LTE too, trust me i have to test the sites we get on air.
Ok, so I am a little new to this because I am coming from Sprint, where I was able to choose 2g, 3G, and 4g but since I have just switched to AT&T the only options I am finding in the network settings are GSM which gives me what appears to be 2g. When I choose wcdma but that gives me 4g, and then LTE. Is there something I am missing when it comes to the network choice that will give me 3G?

4G = 3G for AT&T. AT&T (as do other carriers) consider their HSPA+ network to be "4G" when in fact really it is still 3G
