Every video I try to send says over 1000k, can't send.
With my iPhone4 I could send anything. No matter how long.
I know there is a "take video for MMS" setting but that's stupid. I never take a video just to send via MMS. I want to be able to send any video via MMS later. And the MMS setting is total crap when it comes to quality. I can't even send 640x480 video.
This is a big deal for me. Might even drive me back to the iPhone if there isn't a way around it.

I see that you have posted that in a number of threads but I think you misunderstand what I am trying to do.
I don't need to add 100 contacts to a MMS and i'm not having issues with text being converted to MMS.
When I try to send a video that I shot, the default limit for video size is 1000k. That's about a 5 second video at full resolution. Even switching to 640x480 only allows about 15 seconds of video.
On the iPhone, you can shoot any length video and send it full resolution. I can't seem to do that on the S2.
I use handcent, and it lets you alter the mms size, mine is limited to 290kb by my carrier Vodafone uk. Very annoying.

When I send a picture message to my friend on the iphone 4, she never receives it. When she sends me a picture message I receive it. I'm on tmobile and I'm using default messaging app. Shes on att. Do I have to resize my images or something?
I think the native app resizes pics automatically, so I'm going to bet it's a crappy iPhone signal/AT&T data.
You could try image shrink lite to reduce pic sizes and try that?
I've never had a problem sending picture MMS's to iPhones. Just tested with my coworker's iPhone 4.
Hi,
I'm on T-Mobile UK and when ever I send a slightly long SMS, the phone auto converts it to an MMS message and sends it through the internet/uses data to send it?
Why is this? It never used to happen on my Desire.
Any help is appreciated!

WTF... Why is it only this phone that does this!!!!
eugh...hate using a secondary messaging app. :/
It's just a pain coz it displays the message as if it were a picture (which looks ugly) and it's hard/takes longer for the person to receive the message!
THanks though for clearing that up!
Hate to dig up old topics, but looks like my SII can't send more than 1 sms (160 characters) before converting the whole text to mms. People were reporting they can send up to 3 sms before phone converts to mms. 3 should be ok for me, but 1 definitely sucks. Is there a way i can make it accept 3 sms ?
Try this
For me it stays as a text message and I send many text overseas and not just from the country I'm in at the time.
Try my settings.
Going Message> Settings> Text Message Limit
I changed the default to 2010 not that I send that amount and select now Set.
Their is a MMS fix around if that help .

That setting is only for how many messages should the phone store before deleting old conversations, doesn't help with sending more characters in a single sms Thanks for the tip JJEgan but i don't wanna root my phone to achive that and only solution i found was handcent sms which looks like crap. Must be a way of sending at least 3 sms, as all the other SII, but played with sms settings and there's no such thing. Wonder if my provider has anything to do with that, but it's highly unlinkely, as i can send multiple sms with other phones in the same network.
Hi all.
I have a problem with sending mms on x10 with 2.3.3. The problem is that it does not compress images well. Pictures taken in the quality 8MP 4:3 larger than 2mb compresses the 413k. Max in MMS I can upload 300kb. Do you have a patent on it so that high-quality images could send mms. I do not want to do every time lower images specifically for sending mms.
Is there any alternative application or program to compress images on android 2.3.3?
The all in lower quality pictures send and receive without a problem.
I have the same problem, so I use Handcent just when I need to send a picture.
I prefer the stock sms app to daily use.

thx for your help
I use Go SMS and I don't have any problems with sending MMS..
x10i 2.3.3 rooted.
Im' having this exact same issue, but now I'm using WB roms and still same problem. Images are compressed to between 350-450kb and I can not find an option anywhere in the default app or the system settings to set a maximum mms size.
I'm not sure which forum to be posting this in, so I'm going to start with the general Android forum... I'm an avid defender of Android vs. iPhone enthusiasts, but I've noticed, since my wife got an iPhone (I know, I know....) that there is an MMS feature that I am completely jealous of... When recording a video in HD, the MMS messaging app AUTOMATICALLY re sizes it for sending via MMS. You can actually leave the video recording quality set to "HD" without having to change it manually to some ridiculously low resolution in order to send it via MMS. My question is, is there a setting that I've just completely missed that tells Android to do this? Or possibly an app or a mod?
so my wife and i use the stock samsung messaging app. when we try to send messages through sms they aren't the best quality. should we change the settings or maybe use a different messaging app? ill include video i made today and sent her. any suggestions would be awesome we are both coming from iphone 6s plus. heres link to video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCf9k_bVetA&feature=youtu.be
From my experience in general with multiple carriers and different phones, sending video via mms will always downgrade and distort the video quality due to limitations by the carrier (this is a common issue with all carriers and a google search will provide an explanation of why that occurs). Sometimes you might get an error that the video size is too large and can't be sent. When texting from iphone to iphone it's being sent over imessage not mms therefore your video quality won't be modified in any way. I personally use Google Allo when it comes to sending video files but any messenger app like fb or whatsapp will also do the trick.
Anything sent over MMS is limited to right around 1mb, carrier dependant. iPhones, as you're used to, uses iMessage, which is more of an internet based chat rather than a true SMS app. iMessage I believe limits you to 100mb.
Now, depending on what carrier you're on, Samsung uses RCS to send media, which kind of works like a combination of MMS and iMessage, and will allow you to send MUCH larger files. I know T-Mobile and Sprint have it active for Galaxy S7/8/9 users on the same carrier, and it should be going into wide spread release in the US in about a year.
If you're outside the US, I couldn't even begin to tell you about your carrier.
