[Q] How to S-off the HTC Legend? - Legend Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
So I'm trying to change the font on my HTC Legend and hit a bump because the application (Font Changer) needs write access as it's telling me and I require a S-off Legend, mine is currently S-On and I would like to know how to put it on S-off, thanks for the help.

If your hboot version is 0.43, go to http://alpharev.nl/ and follow the guide. If your hboot version is higher then 1.00, please buy a xtc machine to s-off…

you don't need s-off just to change system fonts. if on s-on, you could do so through recovery or try this

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to S-off my Legend anyways. But when you say do it through recovery do you mean by flashing the Zip file?

You can replace font files with the following steps (I assume you know how adb works.. if not, there's smarter people than me out there who made a guide for it already ):
First, rename your font and the bold version of it to DroidSans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf and put them in same folder as adb.
Go to command line and cd to folder where adb is located.
Enter these commands:
adb pull /system/fonts C:\AndroidSDK\tools\StockFonts\ (not necessary, but backups are nice )
adb shell mount /system
adb push DroidSans.ttf /system/fonts
adb push DroidSans-Bold.ttf /system/fonts
adb reboot
And that's it. No flashing needed hehe .

SO ppl like me which have HBOOT 1.00 are stuck between 0.43 for alpharev and 1.01 for XTA Clip

since you have hboot 1.00 the only way to s-off is to use xclip

Just a not, you can always downgrade HBOOT to 0.43 then use AlpahRevX's method to achieve Eng S-OFF, and avoid futrue HBOOT upgrading.

The benefit is S-Off which will allow you to flash any ROM/Kernel. If you currently have 1.49.0011 or above unlocked using the HTC method you would have had troubles where some ROMs just sit at the white HTC screen forever or error messages when trying to flash kernels ect.

Nice write up. Question, when you get s-off from unlimited.io do you still have an official hboot or is it a modified unlimited.io hboot?
unlimited.io hboot
but this is the first time i write a thread so hope hope no one has any problems
The reason I wondered if it was a modified hboot is because if you use the writesecreflag command to s-on with an "unofficial" hboot, it will brick the device. The safest thing to do in my opinion is to flash an official hboot after getting s-off just incase you don't remember this when you want s-on.
D_ Back to S-ON
1_Go to fastboot
2_Type fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
3_fastboot reboot-bootloader
^DONT
unless you wanna brick ur device..
its like this.. the hboot is still revolutionary, not stock.. if u use SON on it, the device will brick, and since you have soff, theres no way of reviving the device except for jtagging.
SON trick only works on stock bootloader.

Nice post.
Maybe in the B section could be info about using ADB and fastboot+the files.
And also exist another recovery then CWM (4-EXT touch...)
And also in B section should be in step 14 "same methods from 10->14" not from the 1. step
Also what I read, with the unlimited method the bootloader will be locked back after S-OFF

Running the RUU will not downgrade. If it did why would they have had to make all of the complex steps to downgrade from 1.50.
Is there a way to make the RUU see the phone as a lower h-boot version without root access by tweaking the RUU exe. just a thought.

Like a previous poster responded, get s-off using the wire trick. It only takes five minutes once you setup. People who have done it wish they would have done it sooner.
Look the bottom line is if you want to go back to H-boot 1.40 you need to S-off.
Countless people in this thread have said that and you refuse to accept the fact your stuck on H-boot 1.58 until you S-off.

Download the 1.4 hboot, rename the file PG86IMG.zip (case sensitive) and place it on the root of your sd card. Make sure that the ROM you are running will boot with the 1.4 hboot first. If not, boot to recovery and flash one (the reason I suggest this is if you have an hboot 1.58 ROM on there and flash the 1.4 hboot, you'll get bootloops). Then, boot to bootloader and have it "update" to 1.4. Reboot and remove the file from the root of your sd card.

Bricking the phone with S ON will cause it to enter emmc mode in which an Hboot can be flashed.
But he should change the main version to the lower one before attempting to brick it.
After flashing the hboot, device will have been unbricked, but RUU still needs to be flashed.
It is possible, but whether there is a guide for this or not, I don't know; nor do I know if it is practically possible either.

When you mean the right one you mean GB or ICS right? You may find this funny but im getting the phone in about 1hr.
Whenever I get a new android phone I like to research all the procedures and possible issues and download all the needed files prior to getting it.
That way im not stuck with a bricked phone trying to figure stuff out afterwards

You should worry about S-OFF first before you actually worry about supercid. Also, if you do S-OFF and you choose to install the j-bear modified hboot, it installs the .2222 hboot so you really don't need to flash an hboot, because it does that already. But still, do check before you actually attempt supercid

Once you s-off, shp hboot should be your default.

[Q] Completed DirtyRacun S-Off now I can't install recovery...

So my title says it all, I did the s-off for my 1.19 hboot successfully but now I can't flash TWRP (via fastboot) because it says there is no partition there... What should I do? Thanks in advance

What exactly are you typing into the command prompt?
If your twrp is named twrp.zip you should be typing in
fastboot flash recovery twrp.zip

download the app goo manager and install twrp that way it the easest way!
You could also download the PJ75IMG.zip from TWRP's web site and throw that on your SD card and load it from your bootloader.
I've tried all those, thanks guys. My Voice wont work now either, data is fine and the phone is working great but no phone or text... gonna retry running S-off exploit and see what happens :/

If you're S-OFF, you can safely run the 2.13 RUU (which will fix recovery) without losing it. I did it after downgrading to HBOOT 1.12 (to achieve S-OFF) then ran 2.13 RUU and I am now on HBOOT 1.19 S-OFF. After you run the RUU, get the TWRP image at
HTML:
http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/jewel/openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.0-jewel.img
, boot to fastboot, then run
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.0-jewel.img
