I followed the article written by Paul O;Brien and am stuck at the point after I type:
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
The Flyer boots with the option to Unlock (Yes) or Not Unlock (No) and when I try to choose Yes and hit the Power button, nothing happens. I can only choose NO.
Needless to say, the rest of the steps I can't follow....
Upon reboot, I get the Fastboot menu and it says
*** LOCKED ***

Thanks for any help! My device is well, pretty bricked!
were you s-off before?
I would go through the entire HTCDev boot unlock step by step
Hey I had same problem.
I tried to unlock bootloader with htcdev again and again and again....
And suddenly I could choose 'yes' but I don't know how did I do that.
So... my advice is 'try to unlock again and again' ...
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
P.S. I tried whole unlock step about 20 times...
What was the problem? I didn't anything else, except follow stpes in htcdev and suddenly the problem was solved. It's so mysterious...hmm

Why does this whole process seem soooo much more complicated then when I used to do ROM's on my Windows Mobile phones?
Really? Trying it again and again and again???? Would yo do it with the same bin file or create a new one? I tried creating a couple new ones as well. Man, that's ugly. I had fgured I got impatient when it was creating hecode for the htcdev site and redid it.
So, should I go with the original bin file or the last one I made. Yes, each time, the code was different... :-/
Y'all are aweome in not making me feel insane! +1 to each of you! Lol!
So I have tried it about 15 times and it is still not working.....This is so frustrating! I can't go back...maybe I am jst ired an the throght of making a godcard is wigging me out....Would prefer honeycomb.
a Question
I just have to ask this to be sure, You are using the mark/copy method to get your device id for the HTC dev unlock correct. also are you sure that all the information is there (nothing extra/changed/missing).
Cheers
BR
Yes, I am copying it correct. I compare what is in the command prompt versus what I paste in the form submission.....Is it because I am running the Best Buy WiFi version....? I am so hosed because there is no RUU for this version! Arugh!
Thank you so much for any pointers. I have noticed that a number of people had the same problem but didn't post their solutions.....So, I would be more than ecstatic to find out what was done! Thanks again!
I has bestbuy wifi flyer too.
I guess the problem is with only bestbuy wifi flyer...
But I'm sorry to help you

Usually, flashing a new ROM on an Android device is very simple: just load the ROM to your SD card and flash from bootloader. You have to be S-Off and rooted beforehand. But this is a one-time thing and not any harder (with Revolutionary, actually easier) than Hard-SPL on Windows Mobile phones.
The HC upgrade is a special case. From the Modaco guide thread (linked in the Development forum):
If you're wondering 'why so many steps and why don't we just run the ruu'? There are 2 main reasons - firstly is the fact that you need s-off, which is generally the revolutionary bootloader, which protects itself from being overwritten - a problem as the new bootloader is necessary for HC. The second reason is that flashing RUU or rom.zip updates your misc partition version tag, which can seriously limit your options should something go wrong and / or you need to roll back to Gingerbread.
I actually haven't tried the HC upgrade myself. The complexity of the process is indeed intimidating, and reverting to GB is not that easy, either. And apparently there is no RUU for my version of the Flyer (US WiFi-only), so going back to GB is actually impossible. I will probably wait for the official update.
Yep, agreed, ROMS are easy with Android. Done them a million times on Flyer, Evo and Evo 3D....actually probably easier than on my HTC Touch Pro and Touch Pro 2 that both ran Windows.
But this Honeycomb is the beast! Man, I am half tempted to buy another one at Best Buy and wait til they update to Honeycomb! GRRR!
On the phone with HTC and Tech Support has no news on upgrading the Flyer to Honeycomb... I am wondering if it will be canned because it is too hard? Flyer will be Gingerbread - officially, I am suspecting.
It's not related to the BestBuy version. I have done it several times with that version and never had an issues.
Let's try something just to see what happens. It should not have any effect but I am curious and it won't hurt at this point.
Get into the bootloader either through using Power+Vol Down or 'adb reboot bootloader'.
Now at the CMD command prompt of your computer and type 'fastboot oem lock'.
If your Flyer show a *** RELOCKED *** means the operation is successful. I'm just wondering if its in a kind of unknown state.
Now then redo the unlock process again ans see what happens.

I tried that and it still says locked...no change. I will be sending it to HTC to see if they can fix it. I groan with what they will reply....
one more thing...
did you try redoing steps 9-12 ? If so what happens?
Solved...
Well, I sent it in to HTC and they repaired it for free. Took a total of a week. I assume they just completely re-imaged it.
I also had a problem with the pen button always glowing red prior to any rooting or trying to upgrade to Honeycomb and it seems they fixed that as well.
It's the first time I had defective HTC gear. But, they were very professional and fixed it up fast and well.
Thanks for all your help. I think I will be sticking to Gingerbread until an official Honeycomb is released. I hope it is soon because the apps I really need are on Honeycomb!
I have the bigger brother - the Jetstream and yes, the magic pen on the Jetstream is AWESOME. The form factor of the Flyer is just so convenient for the handbag or whatnot.

Hi guys,
I turned my flyer on today and had a prompt to complete a software update, roughly 4.5 mb so I assume it's to do with HTC's security update that is rolling out.
However when the device restarts to install the update, all I see on screen is the yellow triangle and a blue android...
I've left it like this for 20 minutes and nothing actually happens with the update, nor do any of the hard buttons work ect
I unlocked the bootloader a while ago via one of the methods in the Dev forums but haven't really used the flyer since, so I assume it's down to the bootloader being unlocked?
What I want to know is, how to I restore the Flyer to TOTAL stock, ie bootloader, ROM, EVERYTHING.
I've had a look around and haven't managed to find anything, so I hope someone can help
thanks!
Same problem the last security updade dont work with rooted flyer
please help us
I've seen that if you remove htcloggers.apk from /system/app with root explorer or something, but this doesn't seem to have got me anywhere!
To restore use the ruu for you model and software version. There are a lot of guides on how to do it all and to relock your bootloader. You just boot into fastboot and run adb. And type fastboot oemlock and that will relock the bootloader if that doesn't help the problem. Just run the ruu as I stated before hope everything works put well with you. Repost here and I will check later to see your progress and se if I can help a little more.

Thanks for this - I've downloaded the RUU from the top of the thread in development but when I attempt to run it, it throws up a 170 error (I think, not at home at the moment)
When I check the logs it picks up HTC sync and I can see that it's trying to run adb but doesn't seem to manage it. Any ideas?
I will give the other thing a go this evening!

any idea guys?

i've tried it over and over again for like a hundred times, still got the same token check failed error
P.S.: i managed to unlock my device previously but after i sent my device to repair and i got back my device, it's LOCKED again

I'm in touch with HTC about this. When I gave them the serial number of my EVO 3D they had no record of it on their systems. They're chasing it up for me and I hope to hear back soon. When I do I'll post anything useful here.

Not yet. The main guy couldn't figure it out so its been escalated to someone who's a bit brighter.
I would strongly suggest anyone here with the some problem to submit the issue with the HTCdev lot so they know it is an issue and I'm not being a div.
Well, didn't get a fix for this issue and then the HTC guys just stopped answering my emails.
recently I dropped the phone and it broke so I think I'll just sell it. I've since bought a new one that was pre-rooted so didn't have to go through this.
Sorry this isn't the news you wanted to hear but did what i can. I would suggest contacting htcdev if you are still having issues.

I have the same problem.
Any device that was been replaced or has a changed motherboard will not allow unlocking of the bootloader due to changed IMEI.
There is no solution for this, nor is there any workaround (yet).
There is nothing you can do about it.
On a side note, when this started happening on the Sensation, http://unlimited.io released the No HTC Dev version of controlbear which worked on temp rooted devices. But this method is quite tedious as the wire trick needs to be much more accurate.
Temp root was obtained using sparky root.
Maybe sometime soon a similar release may be possible for other devices too.

So I’m new to the forums and I searched around and hadn’t seen anyone post this yet. I have managed to royally screw up my wifes flyer. I bought it used and didn’t pay attention to notice that it was s-off with revolution. She went to install the HC ota update and of course got stuck on the HTC white screen. Next the battery died and we were stuck with the blinking amber light. Here’s where I panicked and used what little knowledge I had of rooting to make things worse.
1) Managed to get it to charge via usb and realized it was rooted. I used this thread to turn s-on thinking I could then use an RUU to install the update and get the tab running.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346200
2) I started installing the wrong RUU by accident which over wrote the hboot then errored out.
3) Tried to install the correct RUU but it keeps erroring because of an incorrect hboot
4) Figured WTH and successfully unlocked the hboot using htcdev instructions.
5) Now I’m stuck with a tablet that still won’t make it passed the boot loader.
I’ve read a lot of the questions here and you guys have seemed to work miracles. I’m hoping you can help me.
Pertinent information follows.

Flyer does not show up in ADB devices list
Try to relock your bootloader then flash the ruu
Adb wont see your flyer in fastboot.
To relock hboot type in command prompt on pc while flyer is hooked up in fastboot
Fastboot OEM lock
Then try ruu
Then you may have to run ruu again

Find the developer named Globatron on this forum and beg him for help.
I doubt you'll be able to resolve it yourself.
It's a simple enough fix, send me a skype IM and we'll get you fixed up. ( see my profile for contact details )

Mosdtly the same procedure as downgrade from official OTA / Leak, except that it was a GB hboot rather than a HC one.
unock + recovery + misc_version downgrade + RUU.
Had the OP not already unlocked, it would have been HC RUU + no unlock downgrade procedure.
Could really use help with a bricked Flyer!
Hi all,
I'm stuck with what seems to be a truely bricked flyer.
After doing the HTC unlock a few weeks back on my 3G Flyer I tried to Install cutom recovery from here.
Installation seemed to work and then I tried to go into recovery immediately from the bootloader and that's when my Flyer got stuck on the white screen until battery ran out and now it won't charge and only flashes the red LED when I plug it in.
I have done a lot of research around XDA and other websites the past few days and considering now to try and take the flyer apart to disconnect the battery and see if that helps.
Would really appreciate any advice or help!!
Hi, I had the same problem, Could you please, please give me the method to fix it!
I did all but "misc_version downgrade"
Ihave a very slow internet connection, thus cannot use skype!
Thank you very much!
SOLVED! by creating a Goldcard!
I have searched around and have had no luck in finding the correct ruu. I tried a few different posts but have had no luck in finding a way to find your ruu without fastboot. Any ideas would be helpful!
EDIT: UPDATE .... i managed to get the phone rebooted .... held the force reboot buttons for literally over a min in desperation.... not i need to fully unroot and start from scratch but am having trouble with that still.... can anyone help me either (A) get s-off ... or (B) get it so that i am completely unrooted so i can start over from scratch to get s-off????
Ok folks, i am officially stuck.... its been quite awhile since i have really asked for help on here but i am stuck in a really bad way!!!
Here is how i got to where i am
Just bought my brand new EVO LTE today and went to root it using "[ROOT] RegawMOD EVO 4G LTE Rooter | Updated 06.13.12" from this section!
everything seemed to work great and it said everything rooted properly.... I love Clockwork mod recovery so i then flashed that and it worked properly to or so i thought! so i went to create an origional Nand but it would not work, so i decided to flash TWRP back instead and do that way. when going into the bootloader it said "Tampered" as expected, but it still said S-on so obviously not a proper and correct root.
So i ran RegaMOD again as it said in the instructions, but it would never get passed the HTCdev part, it would just say "sucessfully logged out" and sit there forever and do nothing. So after a few tries of that i decided to unroot and start over from scratch. I could not find an unroot method for RegaMOD so i then went to the other root method "How to Root HTC Evo 4G LTE! [Windows/Mac/Linux] - by Zedomax" in this section and saw it had an unroot method which i followed to the letter! did full unroot through SuperSU and then downloaded the stock RUU from that section for my phone with the proper version number.
everything seemed to be running fine went to the black "HTC" screen and everything was going smoothly.... then the update failed and my phone stayed on the black HTC screen. my computer prompted me to recover which i could not really do as you can't pull the battery on this phone. So i then tried to update the RUU again except this time it did not list a current software version, only the one i was updating too.... it failed again 2 more times!!
when plugged into the computer my phone displays the black "HTC" screen
when plugged into the charger it displays the following screen info (bootloader look)

just one thing, s-on or s-ff has nothing to do with root
did you relock your bootloader before running the RUU?
And now we see what happens when we blindly click stuff without an understanding of what we're doing. I hate to be a douche (and I'm not usually) but this is EXACTLY the kind of thing you should NOT do with a brand new phone without intensive study. While the one-click root methods are convenient as hell, their major shortcoming is that they don't allow people to learn what they're DOING when they click that batch file...which leads to problems like yours.
As mentioned above, you need to relock your bootloader before running the RUU.
Also as mentioned s-off and root are completely different...and frankly you don't need s-off with HTC's unlock anymore.
Get your phone back to the bootloader, plugged in via USB to your computer.
Install adb (you should already have it, I hope) and type fastboot oem lock from a dos prompt (command prompt).
That relocks your bootloader. reboot into bootloader and you should see 'relocked'.
THEN run the RUU and start over....and this time please read and understand what you're doing rather than just blindly doing the 'cool root thing'.
no, i did not re-lock the boot loader.... didnt know you needed to, not used to that on the OG EVO... how do you go about redoing that? I always thought S-OFF was an important part of root..... the main reason i looked and noticed it was since i flashed clockworkmod recovery and wanted to go back to TWRP i read on their page that "You must be S-OFF or have taken HTC's unlock to use a recovery on your device!" I guess that since i used HTC unlock i could flash, but either way, should i need to go back to stock for any reason, could you please tell me the proper steps?
Thanks a million!!!

Wasn't being hostile and I'm not offended. It's just there are entirely too many people who haven't been paying attention to what they're doing and get upset about it when it all blows up in their face.
And for the record every phone is different. I've rooted my last 4 Android phones, 3 evo's and the hero, and root was different on each one, with different potential problems. Being excited is great. But you need to take the time to learn what you're doing, first.

read the post above yours he did tell you how to do it..lol
Oh and before I forget: Don't use CWM. Unless they've fixed it in the last couple of days it breaks your /misc partition, which is quite probably what caused your issues in the first place.
Use TWRP. After you have root/unlocked you can download goomanager from the Play Store...it will install it for you.

+1 and wrong section
This is the method I used on my 4lte without a problem. But you should read entire post before attempting cause it flashes TWRP recovery automatically along with SU. Clockwork still is buggy.

again, sry for posting in the wrong forum with this issue, and i am sorry if i came off as a noob! I'm really not, just completely jumped the gun and am very very tired as i have been up for almost 36 hours now
thankyou again for all the help, and as i normally do, i will perform all my research before my next venture.... a lot has changed between this phone and my last one that i rooted and modded, i will be more prepared in the future!
Selders, you're here now?! Good to see ya here

So bit of a newb here... Just got the Droid Incredible 4G LTE (Fireball) as a gift, and I have literally dedicated at least 8 hours of my life sifting through forums trying to figure out the boot loader unlock on this phone..
And I feel like I have tried everything... Unlock through HTCDev Website is no longer a viable option, the One site that has a viable unlock is for HBoot 1.15 and my phone is sitting on 1.02... Which means I can't use their package to my best knowledge... Can I revert my Hboot to the older version without unlocking? I'm pretty sure this isn't this even a viable option because I haven't seen anyone else talk about it so I am guessing not..
http://unlimited.io/fireball.htm
When I go to temproot the phone via Team Fireballas, I just run into an infinite loop on a script that seems to be working for a majority of people and all the sifting I did over last night ran me into no one with a clear answer besides sometimes at best it works and others it doesn't.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1986346
I have Windows 7 64 Bit, I have the Android SDK and PATH set up according to the wiki linked, Factory Restore each time I try to run the script and that's been about 20 times now My device shows up under 'adb devices' but as soon as I hit:
adb shell "while ! ln -s /data/local.prop /data/data/com.android.settings/a/file99; do :; done"
It's all infinite looping down the rabbit hole from there... automated script does not give me any success either..
The next option was trying to flash some of the RUU components like Hboot but I don't feel comfortable trying that or even that it will work.... Not getting a brick out of this piece.... and on the other hand its probably not possible without the unlock...
Any help would be greatly appreciated... I've spent a lot of time on this....
At that line you will get infinite errors. After typing the command accept the restore on your phone. You should be good to go. Just ignore the errors on your computer.

Since you are on hboot 1.02, I suggest running the latest RUU.exe to upgrade your phone to 1.15. After that, follow the DirtyRacun on unlimited.io. The process should go nice and smooth once you have upgraded to 1.15 via the RUU. There is a link somewhere on these forums to the latest RUU...

On the next step it says to check whether you have been granted permissions with "#" or "$" and every time I have received "$"
