same as topic, i tried to unlock my GSM EVO 3D with HTCDev's method
i get passed the "paste token" page and i got the unlock_code.bin file
but when i try to execute the command fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin
i get "remote: token check failed" error
any idea guys?
i have HBOOT 1.49.0012
no one?
i've tried it over and over again for like a hundred times, still got the same token check failed error
P.S.: i managed to unlock my device previously but after i sent my device to repair and i got back my device, it's LOCKED again
Having the same issue. I have emailed HTC. Let's see what they say.

Hi, I feel TERRIBLE... I tried unlocking the freakin whole day and I stil get this "unlock token check failed" :/ Is there any ANY fix ?
I'm in touch with HTC about this. When I gave them the serial number of my EVO 3D they had no record of it on their systems. They're chasing it up for me and I hope to hear back soon. When I do I'll post anything useful here.

any update on that?
Not yet. The main guy couldn't figure it out so its been escalated to someone who's a bit brighter.
I would strongly suggest anyone here with the some problem to submit the issue with the HTCdev lot so they know it is an issue and I'm not being a div.
Well, didn't get a fix for this issue and then the HTC guys just stopped answering my emails.
recently I dropped the phone and it broke so I think I'll just sell it. I've since bought a new one that was pre-rooted so didn't have to go through this.
Sorry this isn't the news you wanted to hear but did what i can. I would suggest contacting htcdev if you are still having issues.

I have the same problem.
Any device that was been replaced or has a changed motherboard will not allow unlocking of the bootloader due to changed IMEI.
There is no solution for this, nor is there any workaround (yet).
There is nothing you can do about it.
On a side note, when this started happening on the Sensation, http://unlimited.io released the No HTC Dev version of controlbear which worked on temp rooted devices. But this method is quite tedious as the wire trick needs to be much more accurate.
Temp root was obtained using sparky root.
Maybe sometime soon a similar release may be possible for other devices too.

Thanks for any help! My device is well, pretty bricked!
were you s-off before?

Hey I had same problem.
I tried to unlock bootloader with htcdev again and again and again....
And suddenly I could choose 'yes' but I don't know how did I do that.
So... my advice is 'try to unlock again and again' ...

What was the problem? I didn't anything else, except follow stpes in htcdev and suddenly the problem was solved. It's so mysterious...hmm

Why does this whole process seem soooo much more complicated then when I used to do ROM's on my Windows Mobile phones?
Really? Trying it again and again and again???? Would yo do it with the same bin file or create a new one? I tried creating a couple new ones as well. Man, that's ugly. I had fgured I got impatient when it was creating hecode for the htcdev site and redid it.
So, should I go with the original bin file or the last one I made. Yes, each time, the code was different... :-/
Y'all are aweome in not making me feel insane! +1 to each of you! Lol!
So I have tried it about 15 times and it is still not working.....This is so frustrating! I can't go back...maybe I am jst ired an the throght of making a godcard is wigging me out....Would prefer honeycomb.
a Question
I just have to ask this to be sure, You are using the mark/copy method to get your device id for the HTC dev unlock correct. also are you sure that all the information is there (nothing extra/changed/missing).
Cheers
BR
Yes, I am copying it correct. I compare what is in the command prompt versus what I paste in the form submission.....Is it because I am running the Best Buy WiFi version....? I am so hosed because there is no RUU for this version! Arugh!
Thank you so much for any pointers. I have noticed that a number of people had the same problem but didn't post their solutions.....So, I would be more than ecstatic to find out what was done! Thanks again!
I has bestbuy wifi flyer too.
I guess the problem is with only bestbuy wifi flyer...
But I'm sorry to help you

Usually, flashing a new ROM on an Android device is very simple: just load the ROM to your SD card and flash from bootloader. You have to be S-Off and rooted beforehand. But this is a one-time thing and not any harder (with Revolutionary, actually easier) than Hard-SPL on Windows Mobile phones.
The HC upgrade is a special case. From the Modaco guide thread (linked in the Development forum):
If you're wondering 'why so many steps and why don't we just run the ruu'? There are 2 main reasons - firstly is the fact that you need s-off, which is generally the revolutionary bootloader, which protects itself from being overwritten - a problem as the new bootloader is necessary for HC. The second reason is that flashing RUU or rom.zip updates your misc partition version tag, which can seriously limit your options should something go wrong and / or you need to roll back to Gingerbread.
I actually haven't tried the HC upgrade myself. The complexity of the process is indeed intimidating, and reverting to GB is not that easy, either. And apparently there is no RUU for my version of the Flyer (US WiFi-only), so going back to GB is actually impossible. I will probably wait for the official update.
Yep, agreed, ROMS are easy with Android. Done them a million times on Flyer, Evo and Evo 3D....actually probably easier than on my HTC Touch Pro and Touch Pro 2 that both ran Windows.
But this Honeycomb is the beast! Man, I am half tempted to buy another one at Best Buy and wait til they update to Honeycomb! GRRR!
On the phone with HTC and Tech Support has no news on upgrading the Flyer to Honeycomb... I am wondering if it will be canned because it is too hard? Flyer will be Gingerbread - officially, I am suspecting.
It's not related to the BestBuy version. I have done it several times with that version and never had an issues.
Let's try something just to see what happens. It should not have any effect but I am curious and it won't hurt at this point.
Get into the bootloader either through using Power+Vol Down or 'adb reboot bootloader'.
Now at the CMD command prompt of your computer and type 'fastboot oem lock'.
If your Flyer show a *** RELOCKED *** means the operation is successful. I'm just wondering if its in a kind of unknown state.
Now then redo the unlock process again ans see what happens.

I tried that and it still says locked...no change. I will be sending it to HTC to see if they can fix it. I groan with what they will reply....
one more thing...
did you try redoing steps 9-12 ? If so what happens?
Solved...
Well, I sent it in to HTC and they repaired it for free. Took a total of a week. I assume they just completely re-imaged it.
I also had a problem with the pen button always glowing red prior to any rooting or trying to upgrade to Honeycomb and it seems they fixed that as well.
It's the first time I had defective HTC gear. But, they were very professional and fixed it up fast and well.
Thanks for all your help. I think I will be sticking to Gingerbread until an official Honeycomb is released. I hope it is soon because the apps I really need are on Honeycomb!
I have the bigger brother - the Jetstream and yes, the magic pen on the Jetstream is AWESOME. The form factor of the Flyer is just so convenient for the handbag or whatnot.

Anyone? Anything? Anyone get past the unlock token check fail?
Noticed your unlock_code.bin says 0kb (mine is about 4kb on disk). You may need to get a new unlock code or redownload it from your email. If you still have problems & you're stuck at HTC's step 13, you'll have to rerun the RUU and try the unlock again. With S-On, there isn't a way to run the 2.08 RUU if you've already done the 2.17 update.
I have a guide/flashing notes in my signature that may clear some things up if you want to have a look.
thanks for the reply..i tried those and nothing...i emailed htc they "say" they are working on an update to fix the unlock problem..idk how long that it will take..hopefully a dev will come up with a better way then the htc way
I'm also having the same problem with my friends phone. I get like three different outputs when I try doing the last command to unlock. It goes from saying it's successful and writing to unlock failed to something else then loops over again (trying the same command over and over). Tried running the 2.08 RUU but it won't accept it. Does anyone have a link to the 2.17 RUU? Or is there any way to downgrade to 2.08? This is really bugging me, I hate how much HTC has complicated things compared to the one click root days
See the link in my signature to get the 2.17 Ruu

Idk about the OP, but I did. I did everything exactly the same as when I rooted my phone except my friends has the 2.17 software and mine had 2.08. Does the HTC unlock not support 2.17 or what?
you need to downgrade the ruu software number to 2.08.651.2 otherwise you wont be able to do it

You used the same token as before? If you have then there you got the reason why it is not working.
You have an new motherboard so you should have an new unlock token to.
Sometimes the unlock process won't work. Just install the RUU if you are having issues, and then try to unlock it and you will be successful.
Here is the link for the RUU: http://www.multiupload.com/09NOXKCUN0
EDIT: Mult-upload is down. I fogot. lol. The name of the RUU is 2.08.651.2 Install that and then try unlocking again.

You are having issues because the motherboard changed by htc was preloaded with 2.17.651.5 and some of the phones preloaded with this SW number have issues.

Then i went to fastboot and just gave command

before my cid was 038, now in CID Getter it shows 001, So hopefully that worked
and after that again i tried to run the RUU but still the same error!

I used this guide to crack the bootloader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471246
In this guide it says first we have have to bootloader but, just skip that part.
Temp Root your phone with automated scripts (HTC Super Tool V3)
And then you do as the guide says. It is working
My bootloader was locked too. After downgrading your phone, just unlock the bootloader with Revolutionary Method.
Then install 4EXT Recovery. And then you can install custom Roms.
Solution for your problem?

I am very sorry that this happened. Unfortunately, like the good fellows have already stated. If your motherboard was replaced then there is no known solution to remedy this. However if you do have insurance on your phone you could "accidently drop it a few times" and make a claim on it. Hopefully they will send you a new phone with the possibility of unlocking your bootloader.
