First of all hi to everyone
i searched the forum but i couldn't find an answer
is there a way to view greek subtitles when they are in a .srt file ?
i use the stock player (also tested qqplayer) but when the movie starts and i choose the subtitles they appear like symbols or chinese letters i think its an encoding problem...
phone
LG Gt 540 [ROM]SwiftDroid (v2.0 RC5)| Mur4ik
and
LG P990 [ROM][STOCK LG] 2.2.2
............
Find it using Mobo Player (free) from market and selecting subtitles encode iso-8859-7 subtitles displayed ok ...so one more question is there any other free or payed video player that support iso-8859-7 ;;;

Try mvideoplayer, plenty of subtitle options.

Hi all.
I was wondering if you guys know if it's possible to change any settings in the video recording app in x10 mini (android 2.1) ? The ideal for me would be able to record in anything other than 3gp. I have also searched the market for an app which converts 3gp to another format (on the phone I mean) but didn't find anything.
The reason I want to do this is because I have found a pretty great free app, which I recommend to everyone, which is called TwonkyServer Mobile : it transforms your phone into a DLNA server, so you can directly view photos, music and videos that are on your phone to your TV through any other DLNA device such as XBOX, PS3, Bravia TV, media centers, etc...
It amazes all the people to who I demoed this : you take a pic from your phone, launch twonkyserver, and BOOM it's on your TV
It would be so great of I could do the same with videos, but 3gp formats are not recognised by most media centers...
try lgcamera from the market it can record in mp4 and avc..
thanks dude !! will try it tonight and let you know how it went ;-)
Dude ! The LG app is unusable, it crashes all the time, I cant use this.

X10 with Twonky Media Server
Hi,
I am able to stream Music -mp3 and Pictures - Jpeg in my Bravia(40Ex710), but no videos yet
Could you help me in this
Media Server :Twonky -Xperia X10
Thanks in Advance
I still have the same problem. The issue comes from the fact that the phone only records videos in 3gp format, and the TV does not have the 3gp codec to read it. There are only 3 solutions :
- wait for bravia update to have a 3gp codec (and this might take forever).
- find another video recording app working on the x10 mini which can record in another format such as MP4 (but I haven't found it).
- find another app which can convert 3gp to mp4 on the phone (can't find it either).
If any of you guys have a clue for this, I would be very thankfull.
hey everyone,
i've been searching the web for a while now and couldnt find out if there is a patch or something for htc video player to support .avi files.
its really important to me as i tend to watch movies on my hd2 a lot.
but tcpmp is not a great option, it kinda lowers the quality of the videos and kinda sucks.
IF there is a way to play .avi files, IT WOULD BE SO AWESOME, it has hardware acceleration and all.
thanks in advance.

In a word, no. The HTC video player won't answer your problems.
Setting up TCPMP correctly, however, will solve your problems.
Have a look at the following post and try setting up TCPMP/CorePlayer as suggested. It makes a world of difference!

The HD2 does support AVI. see thread and go to multimedia.
http://www.htc.com/uk/product/hd2/specification.html
But you must be using DivX AVI, or Xvid AVI... for HD2 use AVI MSMPEG4-V3 (*.avi) this works for movies. You can download a video converter via Google

Or he could read the answer above which will solve all his problems without converting a single file
Video Player that works!
If you are running Android on HD2 then take a look at this forum;

Hello Guys,
Just wanted to know if Dell Streak can play 1080p or 720p Videos or not?
I tried playing mp4/ avi files using Rock Player, they worked with lag, is there any work around?
Have you enabled the hardware acceleration in the build.prop?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
I convert them to .mp4's to watch on my Streak.
The Streak is only 800x480 so theres no point trying to play a 1280x720 video.
A converted 720p .mkv file is soooo much better quality than its .avi counterpart.
I use the Touch HD Encoder, a very simple and effective program.
Can I ask what program u guys use to convert the video files?

i use Rock Player from Market to play video files; i try 720p and 1080p mkv movies with subtitles and works perfect 100%, like on computer with hd video card .
there is a great program in the forum called "Encoder" - I have used it to convert videos to mp4 for all my previous phones to play without any lag.
I use arc media player, not come across a file yet that it wont play, everything from avi, to mkv to mp4, in any definition. Great apparently and its free!
Sorry if this is OT:
I am having issues getting my DVDs converted to digital on my desktop. I was trying to use handbrake, but it always came out funny (jagged sound and large rainbow pixels across the screen). I assume this is some kind of copyright protection.
Right no I am desperate to convert my library to digital back ups that I can toss on and off my devices at will. Any insight on how to solve my problem would be great.
I used Handbrake without any probs - did you choose the best settings? I used Presets Normal, Video Codec Mpeg-4 & Picture Size Custom - I resized using Aspect Ratio.
I followed a couple guides online. I m not even talking about it getting to the phone, it won't even play on the desktop.
So far I ve used these settings:
720x480
264
mp4
EDIT: Just for clarity. Should I be using VLC since Handbrake does not decrypt? (I read this after a google search please inform me if I m wrong).
you can play 720p [email protected]

I tried to use the Dice Players directions

I get as far as trying to backup the original codec module and keep getting a Permission denied message
Any help would be much appreciated
Many thanks
Hi, I learnt a lot on this forum about our mini and there is something that I don't understand.. How works youtube ? We don't have flash on our mini (pro) so how does it works ?
video doesn't need flash to be played !
It's not the good question Bigbrother (je suis sur FrAndroid )
The question is :
In France, with our operators (SFR, Bouygues Telecom... Same as T-mobile or Verizon in USA xD) we have an application whos call "SFR TV" or "Bouygues TV" that allow us to see French chanels in instant streaming !
Streaming doesn't need flash ? I think that it need so my question is, how does this application work if the mini doesn't have flash ?
To make it clear;
you need flash to play flash content (which can be video),
but you do not need flash to play a video stream.
If you go to m.youtube.com you get a video stream which is opened with a video player - this is not flash.
YouTube videos are encoded in h.264. Flash is used to play these files.
These files may well be played directly without Flash through standalone app.
In android youtube, it plays video as mp4. Not flv or anything related to flash.
Sent from my U20i using XDA Premium App
Okay and the flash used in the navigation can't be converted because this is not only video content.. that's sad
I made today a little application to display Youtube video's on my SE X10 Mini Pro - android 2.1.
Because there is no official Youtube App available for my device/location.
You can find the free app here:
rsolution.be/youtube-for-android-2.1-or-higher
So, by developing, I investigated the streams.
This works by using the Youtube RTSP/3GP streams and by HTTP/MP4 files.
The mp4 specs: fmt=18 -> mp4: 480x 360 (H264) / AAC 2.0 44KHz
The 3gp specs: RTSP, 3GP
Basically on youtube site it uses flash to play a mp4 file or whatever it is. But on the app it downloads that file and displays it as it would a video recorded on the camera

Looks like the new gingerbread update now supports MKV video files from Gallery but doesn't play subtitles. Is there a settings to enable it to display subtitles? For now, I'm using Moboplayer to do this.
Thanks in advance
Really? I can't play a real 720p more then 15fps

I just play 480p anime shows that are MKV files but the subtitles don't show. I like it now because I can play it on the Entertainment option when I connect to TV. But alas, no subtitles. Does anyone know if that's even possible with default player?
thats not possible on any device with android
that player simply doesn't exist xD
Try using Mobo. It kicks ass and supports subtitles too.
