Scenario: HTC Flyer US Wifi only. Attempting to get s-off using revolutionary. I've setup ADB on my mac and my device is identified, so I can see the serial number. my HBoot version is 1.10.0000
This is the message I receive when trying to run the binary file downloaded from the revolutionary site.
"

I'm guessing this is a simple fix. Thanks for your help guys.

revolutionary is windows or Linux only, and this thread desn't belong in this forum.
Why doesn't it belong here globatron? It's a tool used for android development, right?

Unfortunately that didn't work. I believe all the permissions are correct. Could it be an error from the android sdk install perhaps?

Most likely you have a file that is corrupted or invalid. Are you sure you downloaded file for right platform?
Sorry, that's what I could think of. I tried Windows version and works great.

Hi folks...
According to reports on this forum, some people seem to have managed rooting their stock 2.3.3 roms.
However, I don't seem to be able to do this
I used the official LG update tool to upgrade to V20C, and it looks like I have a perfectly working Gingerbread installation, but when I try to root (using Gingerbreak, which I thought should work), nothing happens (Gingerbreak keeps running without changing anything).
In the DEV forum FAQ, there is no information about rooting GB roms (yet).
If anyone who successfully did this, would care to comment, I'd be very much obliged
thanks

Either that or do this:
in ADB:
adb devices
adb shell
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf
then open superoneclick and root (using psneuter).
Thanks, that worked fine. First time I tried I had some problems but I must have done something wrong

Doktornotor seems to have disappeared (deleted?) and his signature's gone with him also, it's impossible now to search on his username.
Does anyone have a link to the thread where he describes how to root by flashing? I'm probably too stupid to wrap my head around the search function on this site because I really can't find the thread. (by the way I don't think it was the general thread where he tells you how to flash gingerbead)

Yes, that's the link I'm talking about. You did mention that your device says "htc wildfire" in the build.prop, so you could try the wildfire's revolutionary for it (just a suggestion). It's still best if you ask the question on that website to be sure (so you don't damage your device). If you don't want to, then just hope someone here knows what to do.

Easy tutorial:

go to http://htcdev.com/
click unlock bootloader, follow the instructions.
then use any root program that supports htc wildfire
I suggest unrevoked http://unrevoked.com/
That's what I used for my legend, and it works like a treat
hope this helps

I think it´s the Unrevoked
Unrevoked is the best way but you need revolutionary first to s-off
search the forums for it
it will want to download Unrevoked anyways after it s-off
I found the revolutionary method and S-OFF to be the easiest.
.
Thread moved to Q&A due to it being a question. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.

This is a guide to help people fix fastboot not being recognized with the new windows 8 consumer preview, which happened to me and i found the easy fix. After installing the preview,
1 connect htc evo 3d, let phone connect and install its own drivers, then under device manager, find htc-update drivers- download and install adb drivers http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2tunwdxr3q2q8ec
2. Next go into sdk manager and install all updates that are current, make sure you dont let computer go into idle and if files arent downloading correctly, simply redo the update till everything updates properly, might take a few times because windows 8 isnt optimized yet for file transfer, who knows, etc
3. FASTBOOT IS NO LONGER UNDER TOOLS, BECAUSE ITS UNDER PLATFORM TOOLS. the update puts fastboot from tools to platform tools, so to get adb/fastboot to recognize you have to shift/commandprompt where platform tools are for it to recognize adb/fastboot and let you issue commands
There you have it..... maybe i should go into developing, i just got lucky with this, i hope this helps one person out.... rocking the new htc one s rom, htc evo 3d until the next 3d, keep the developing coming
awesome
I've been looking for something like this, thanks so much luthien!

What the Hell. Dude my guides work. This one however is the one that should be removed. This guide is a joke obviously you have no idea what your doing. When you say in your guide to download all the packages are you aware what's that for ??? Its for full on development. You don't need any of that for fastboot or adb. Unless your planning on developing all that will do is occupy space on your hard drive and a lot of it. Also you could have just pointed the user to newer/latest sdk that will put the tools in platform. No need to download the old sdk just to update to the newer one with a whole lot of installs the average user will never need. Your guide should definitely be removed because its highly incorrect.

You could have done your research before posting a guide and you would have known this. As far as being helpful your choice to post "not searching for a similar guide that may or may not work" how was that helpful??? Are you not reading your post ??? When xda member "ssojyeti" posted a link to my thread asking you to read before you post you chose to reply with a non helpful comment towards my guide. When you could have posted something helpful or useful. If the more knowledge, guides, etc the better then why not post something postive about my guide?? Instead you chose not to henceforth my reply. Also your guide is incorrect and instead of doing your research to know what it is your posting you half do it, throw it up as a guide and say its to help the community. Why not just take your time read a little and post a guide were you know what it is your posting about that way when you posted your guide the community would have had the benefit of the time, effort, and research you put into it to provide the best guide you could. That would help the community more wouldn't you agree?? You post a guide on how to get fastboot working and the way your guide is telling the user has nothing really to do with fastboot at all. So you sir could have been more helpful by taking your time to do the research, posting postive feed back about fellow xda members guides, and reading before you post.

Wow, I rooted my Legend back in 2010! That's so long ago!
I found this in my Legend Root folder I saved to SkyDrive:
http://sdrv.ms/19cyP71
It's a goldcard tool I used, someone made it from the HTC Hero back in the day. It worked for me.
Of course, you don't know who I am, and I don't know who you are, but I give you my word this .exe is safe, blah blah blah, internet expectations blah blah blah.
Good luck!
that one also used that down website
but thanks for your try
Ok peeps, head over to the dhd forums and read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17247562, thanks to "gene pool" there is a solution to gold card issue, read through the whole thread and find out what all you need to know, I think anyway LOL.

thx for your try
if u dont have a rom specified there go to http://www.shipped-roms.com/ get a rom that is hboot upgradeable do that ruu stuff and then update hboot using htcdev ruu
then follow htc dev steps
after that go to

dont forget to thank
Interesting, did you read the whole thread? There is a binary and script to create goldcard images offline at the end of the thread, I also believe the op has updated with new info?

u can do it offline using flashgc or sometin and also by using gcard.exe in the second post of the thread provided by ranger4740
