[Q] How TO Transfer Contacts - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

hi i want to transfer my SGA contacts to Samsung C5212 (Fizz), but when i export my contact to sd it creates single VCF file and c5212 doesnt support single vcf rather its only imports my first contacts so how can i split my contacts to multiple vcf file or ho can i export my contacts to multiple vcf file from sga

Samsung Kies?

i found a better way Moderator kindly close this tread ...
I want to share with you a painless solution for transferring full contacts
1) First, on my SGA I exported my contacts to sd as VCard which save to a single file (x.vcf), then I transfer this file to my computer in a folder (for ex. c:\TEMP\x.vcf).
2) Then I use the attached application (VCF Splitter ) to split x.vcf in single VCF files. Extract vcfsplitter061220.zip to c:\TEMP\ and you'll have 2 files: vcfsplitter.exe and readme.txt.(IMPORTANT: You must drag x.vcf over vcfsplitter.exe in WINDOWS EXPLORER!!! otherwise will not work <in TotalCommander not worked for me>)
VcfSplitter download page: www.dm9.se/?dl_id=1
3) Then install NOKIA PC SUITE and in section "Contacts" select "Import" and you can select all single vcf files created with vcfsplitter.
And that's it. I hope some of you will use this tutorial.
See you soon

How about exporting you contacts and syncing them with your google account, (additionally) you can manage groups and chose which contacts you will get on your new phone

How to: CyanogenMod 6.1 sync with me pc

just export them to the sd card and then copy the file from the sd card and import it into whatever you are using... takes a bit more effort but gets the job done
Thanks guybanda,now im trying this
the export generate a vcf file,im open with ultraedit is the only way?
you could try to import the vcf file to your gmail account: go to contacts and import the file there,
then all your contacts should be there and you can sync them to the phone whenever you like.

1) make a bkp of all ur contacts on ur nokia phone as .vcf file then copy the same to ur pc.
2) transfer that .vcf file to ur s2 phones sdcard ( internal or external)
3) go to contacts setting then try importing the same by selecting 'Import from Sdcard' and see

Thanks for the reply i'll try that and by the way I meant bluetooth transfer...I used to get all the vcf's at once but now it's one by one..
This doesn't work as my nokia is an old nokia N95 and can't save contacts as vcf...
This is how I used to do it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXHtHntihTY
but now I keep getting the contacts one by one...not sure why !!!!
You could also try copying the contacts to your SIM card and then use the same SIM card on ur GS2 and Import from SIM Card
tried that already...got a SIM card full msg...lol
the easiest way for me was to synchronize all my contatcs with my googlemail account. Once you have uploaded them, you can restore them on any android based OS. Noo need for bluethooth, or any vcf files...

In that case use Nokia PC suite :
-Connect your N95 to your computer via USB cable
-Click on the "Contacts" icon
-Click - File - Export
This will export as a text file. Then use google contacts on ur pc and import this file and synch using your phone.
Thanks a lot for the help guys...all sorted out and fine now

.SPB backup files

Hi,
Last week I backed up my contacts from my Galaxy S2 onto my Macbook. It created a .spb file in the backup location. Since then my S2 has taken a tumble and has been sent away for repair but the prognosis doesn't look good! I have a Sony Ericsson as a spare handset, but cannot get the .spb file to open anywhere to convert to a .Csv file to replace my contacts. If anyone could help I would extremely grateful as the last sync with GMail didn't work so the only place I have my contacts is in the SPB backup file. I have tried opening Kies(latest download) on the mac to open the spb file but there is no option to let me do it.
arghhhhhhh
Thanks
Dirk

Try This:
1. WhatsApp stores a backup of all conversations in the SD Card. It can be accessed by doing the following:
1. Install a File Manager such as Astro File Manager, on BlueStacks
2. Navigate to sdcard/WhatsApp/Databases/
3. The message history backups are stored here. Click down on the file msgstore.db.crypt,
select Copy from the options that come up. Navigate to
/sdcard/bstfolder/bstSharedFolder/ and paste the file.
4. This file can now be accessed on the PC by navigating to
C:/ProgramData/BlueStacks/UserData/SharedFolder.
2. Now the messages can be accessed by decrypting the databases (this link tells you how)
I Don't Know That Whether It'll Work Or Not. [Do At Your Own Risk. ]
This worked for me
1. Explore your phone files on your PC, search for whatsapp messages in something like this: phone/whatsapp/databases
2. Upload the last created message database you found to your Dropbox or Drive account
3. Install file manager HD in bluestack (This App allows you to copy/delete files from SD and cloud servers/dropbox)
4. Make sure to uninstall whatsapp from bluestack before you do next step
5. In the file manager HD identify the database you upload in dropbox
6. Install whatsapp, before they ask your phone number do the next step
7. In file manager hd move the message file from dropbox to SDcard/whatsapp/databases
8. Put phone in whatsapp and it will ask you to recover messages, accept, and it should work
while updating the bluestacks whatsapp, i changed my profile name and now no old history is available... how to get my old chat history, Please help.
better idea is install file manager make a zip file of watsapp folder and paste it to /sdcard/bstfolder/bstSharedFolder/
find that zip file on your pc from C:/ProgramData/BlueStacks/UserData/SharedFolder and paste it in your phone and extract it to your internal directory and done

[Q] How to save a file for public manipulation (import/export)

I have an app where I want to be able to export to/import from CSV Files.
In a Use-Case I want to export data into an CSV File, connect the phone to a PC and edit the CSV there and re-import the file afterwards back into the app.
I am currently using a Motorola Razri (latest android version) and no matter where I try to save the file, it does not appear to be public when connecting the phone to a computer (it's not there)
I can see the file on the android File Browser itself, so it is there, but in Windows Explorer the file is not there )or at least, I cannot find it).
How would be a proper way to implement such a feature:
Export to CSV - Edit on Computer - Reimport same file.
I've used getExternalDirectory and also tried getExternalDirectoryPublic - in either cases the file does not appear on the computer.
Any Hints highly appreciated!
