I have tablet with android 3.1. When I have the table all in english everything is fine. But when I switch it into my language (czech), some of the description or names of the app in market got translated into my language (and the translation is very very bad)
I would like to switch this automatic feature off, so I will always see the text in original language (eg English).
It happens within different version of market
I tried to find it, but the only thing I found

from this I can see that developer can allow this automatic translation for his app.
But I want to disable it from user perspective.

As far as I understand the transcriber's recognition capabilities for different languages are defined by the "TranscriberENG" or "TranscriberGER" files within the Windows directory.
I have a german ROM, so I have the "TranscriberGER" file installed, but about 25% of the text I write is in englisch.
Writing englisch text with german language support this is what I'd call a bad user experience.
Is somebody willing to send me a set of the "TranscriberENG" files (There must be two of them, one is approx 50, the other one 145k) so I could try to use them as a replacement when I need english text recognition?
Has any of you already tried to replace these files? Does an easy method for switching languages in transcriber exist, in case muliple language files are installed?
If not, I think it would be great to pack this in a new rom, if possible at all.

I,m working on it along with keyboard and dictionary langauge options to be user switchable. Progress is slow but hopefully I'll get there in the end.

I have an EVO 3D with Viper RC2 Test4
I have attempted to use Internation IME. More specifically I have enabled traditional Chinese keyboard and used it as my 2nd language. While there is no problem with the Zhu-Ying keyboard when entering characters by hand, for some reason the voice recognition input still seems to be attempting to map my Chinese voice as English.
It seems to be a bug, but I am really unable to really post in the developer forum as I don't have enough posts that XDA forum gates me from doing so.
Can anybody help me with the following?
1. Does anybody have similar issue with other languages?
2. Can anybody help me post this into the Viper forum?
3. Success of this operation in other custom ROMs?
4. Please reply if my description is not clear.

Defect report and method to reproduce the issue above.
Method to reproduce:
1. Go to settings, select "Language & keyboard".
2. Under "Keyboard settings", select "Touch Input".
3. Select International keyboard, then select "注音". For me, it is the fourth selection from the bottom.
4. Open anything that allows input, so I did browser with google loaded.
5. On the keyboard, click EN. Now you will see "注" under the microphone.
6. Hold the microphone button to start speech to text.
7. Say "zong wen" [The word "Chinese" in Chinese].
Expected:
In theory, it should be recognized as Chinese and you should see "中文" or some Chinese characters.
Observed:
For me, the phone returned "Song 1".
Reproducibility:
Always. Attempted to un-assign and re-assign 2nd language and rebooted phone, these action does not resolve issue.
Impact and work around:
Manual entering through keyboard. Not sure if this issue affects other languages.
Solved my own problem!
Under "Voice input & output settings", select "Voice recognizer settings"
Change the language to the desired language. For an example: Chinese, Mandarin (Taiwan, Traditional).
This resolved my problem.

i have a general problem with android: how can i set up a locale that's different from the UI language?
in other systems (windows on PC, or symbian on phones), you can set up a locale (which determines how time, date, currency, etc. is displayed) and a language. in android it seems that the two settings are connected, so language also determines the locale. i live in slovakia, so obviously i want a slovak locale, but i also want an english ui. if i set the english language, i have weeks starting with sunday in calendar, and dates separated by slash instead of a dot.
i find this really annoying. is there any way to overcome this limitation? i was using the stock Sony Ericcson firmware as well as Cyanogenmod, so i assume the issue is not rom connected.

Not my normal wont to buy such a new machine, but circumstances led to my purchase of a first-day-in-the-store Toshiba AT 700 Regza tablet running Android 3.2. After a couple of days of use, I have encountered one particularly annoying problem:
Voice input works quite well, though still on the basis of a few sentences at a time. However, when I do voice input in Gmail, it switches from English (the current language setting) to Japanese (Toshiba's initial market for the new box).
I'm almost sure this is really a problem with the implementation of FSKAREN, the Japanese conversion system. It's possible that it involves the keyboard selector, however. (Sorry, Dorothy, but the Toshiba website is clearly not ready yet, though I may telephone them later...) This behavior is different from my prior experience with voice input in Android (both versions 2 and 3). However, for whatever it is worth, the Japanese recognition is surprisingly good since my Japanese pronunciation is certainly not native-like.
Any ideas or diagnostic suggestions? I was tweaking around in the keyboard settings and actually got it to accept one sentence in English from within Gmail, but that is obviously not a solution. I'm loathe to disable FSKAREN or even to poke at it too hard, but I'm thinking that one solution might be to use an alternative keyboard and enable the input system selector...
Not sure if the background will help, but most of the applications are running in Japanese, though the main applications (as in those from the Google) and including Gmail do run in English mode with English menus. I can usually get along well enough in Japanese, but most of my correspondents read English, not Japanese...
I posted the same question in the Google forums, but I'm almost certain the increasingly evil Google will evade involvement and my prior experience with those help forums has been distinctly unhelpful. So I decided to be optimistic and try over here, too.
These days I'm running Android 4.1.2 of omega-based stock Samsung rom.
I use Hebrew as my language in the device and all apps appear indeed in Hebrew.
For some reason, inside the Google Maps app, the menu is in Hebrew but the map itself is displayed in English and the navigation is in English as well.
In the past in other roms I used to have hebrew street names and navigation.
Does anyone have an idea why the app is half English-half Hebrew?
Guess would be that you don't have a Hebrew stuck rom but a custom rom .
