I have a Galaxy Tab. When looking for roms what do I have to make sure is compatible? What is the difference in 10.1 development and 10.1v?
How do I know if I am 10.1 or 10.1v?
When looking for a ROM do I have to make sure it is WIFI only or what? I wasnt aware that there were different versions of the 10.1 Tab.
I would suggest for you to not do anything to your tablet. Again, just suggesting here, but I would do just a wee bit more research on the internets about your device before doing anything.

I am confused.
I bought myself a brand new Galaxy S2 in white color.
On the box it says GT-i9100. Color: Ceramic White. Made in Vietnam.
When I turn it on it says I9100, not i9100g.
So I want to flash ICS but I am a bit afraid as I am not sure whether it's i9100 or i9100G.
Does the i9100 exist in white? It's from Vodafone Germany, and comes with lots of bloatware.
Go to settings and then about, will tell you the model number.

Given everything else you've mentioned, if it says "I9100" on the sticker under the battery on the phone chassis, I think you can safely assume it's an I9100. Colour has nothing to do with it. For example, in Australia, carriers here sell the I9100 & I9100T and both are available in white.
Edit to add - Rizur is correct, if it has I9100 in settings then you've definitely got an I9100.

Thanks a lot. Well, it is a GT-i9100. So I think it's safe and I will flash through Odin to get rid of all the crapware it has.
Is there any ICS custom rom you recommend? (For battery and performance purposes) Or should I just go stock?
Thanks a lot!

Thanks! Well, I knew it all along, it's a I9100. But I just was confused.
There are many custom ROM's to choose from. But make sure you back up everything and read lots and lots.
You get Samsung based ROM's and Android Open Source Project ROM's, read up on differences and what can be expected from each ROM, including pros and cons.
Good luck!
Edit: if you already know all that^, then I suggest HyDrOG3N -ICS, I'm really enjoying it

Thanks I will try it out. First I'm going to install the stock version and if it's laggy, I will try the one you pointed out!
As I am on a Galaxy Nexus with AOKP, I wanna see how ICS stock performs on the Galaxy S2. It's not for me but for my brother, so I still want it to perform well

Hello All,
I'm new to this thread as I just came over from the N7000 series of the Note because i just had to have LTE speeds and I must say I miss having the AOSP based ROMs that the N7000 had and was wondering if we'll ever see this for our i717 Notes?

Build it.
pretty sure cyanogenmod is working on CM9 for the note...
Most likely as soon as Samsung releases ICS source code which likely wont be released probably until ICS becomes official.
Its possible the CM team is building based off code from the N7k for the i717 but the phones are different from each other.
There are tons of threads with this very same question that have been started in this thread, I have explained in great detail (as have others) that explain what the problem(s) are, Id suggest starting there.

I have the Tab 10.1 and its rooted. But instead of flashing one of the roms available for the tab 10.1, I would like to flash a HTC Sense rom. Is that possible? If so, How can i do that?
(this might be a noob sorta question, but then I am a noob at this)
You can't. HTC roms are for HTC devices, Samsung roms are for Samsung devices and so on... Each device has different hardware. Only roms for galaxy tab 10.1 work.

Well, you're on xda! What better place to search? I bet Google has some answers too. But I am no expert. I can't be of any more help

Wasn't there a tutorial posted not too long ago on porting in the main page?
I'd like to know if the camera will work in this port. Also, will it become an HTC camera?
No, because the camera uses Samsung drivers.

OK, but you didn't answer my other question: will the camera become an HTC camera?
Tried to root galaxy tablet 10.1; followed all steps and was able to root my first tablet. Problem was I had no 4g only wifi. Does anyone know where I can get the correct rom? Also I notice that some of the newer 10.1 tablets have 4.0 firmware.

What is the difference between the models? I have SGH-T859. Then there is the P7500 which seems to be where most of the roms are aiming towards. And it seems that the P7510(?) Is strictly wifi. I took a quick glance at a rom thread for the P7500 and a question was whether or not it would work on the t859. The response was no. I am currently stock 3.2 with root. Are any of the available roms other than cm (took a look at their site and my device is supported) suited to work with the T-Mobile version?
CyanogenMod 9

According to OMGUbuntu!, Canonical will release images and code for the Galaxy Nexus in late February. Seeing as it's the most obtainable, the images will, more than likely, be for the unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus.
I've currently got a Galaxy S3, and seeing as some effort is needed to port them to the CDMA Galaxy Nexus, should I keep the S3, hoping some kind soul will grant me mercy and port it to the S3? I'm more than willing to trade it for the Galaxy Nexus if it means it's easier to get the Ubuntu Phone OS installed on there.
White or black I will trade a vzw nexus for vzw S3

I'm not sure why this needs a poll, given that the answer won't be determined by popular vote.
My understanding is that Ubuntu for Phones for a given device will use the existing Android kernel and drivers for that device. I'm no developer, so does mean Ubuntu could automatically (or with minimal effort) take advantage of the CDMA support already built into the kernel and drivers of CDMA devices? Or would there still be a significant amount of work required?
I won't be surprised if they focus solely on GSM, but if it's easy enough to implement maybe it could eventually happen or be added unofficially. We'll know soon enough.

Looks like it's only out for maguru. Maybe toro will follow in a couple of weeks?
I hope so, really wanted to give Ubuntu a spin.

I wouldn't bother with it yet, it needs more time.. just read the thread

I have a GSM Gnex, so I have no idea how well that particular port works. Be safe and make sure you make a NANDROID backup.
