A Little Help with Screen Protectors for evo 3d - HTC EVO 3D

Hello. I just got myself a evo 3d and I noticed there aren't much screen protectors for this phone here, especially in Canada. I know Future Shop has a Zagg, but 2 ppl said it was too long... Then I see XO on Youtube and that's it.
I got one from a small shop and the guy put it on for me there, but now I have no clue what brand it is. It's 2 screen protector covers for the front screen and the back where the camera lens are. The guy says when put on a black surface, it's darker than the other protectors which means it's clearer or something.
Any idea how many screen protectors are actually out there, and which one I might have gotten? (or i could have gotten a no-name brand from China... hope not :/)
Thanks.

I think if you do a search there are a few threads about it... but, I hope someone replies with a few links.
I really need a new one myself and ALL the ones I buy from Sprint/Radio shack don't cover the entire front piece of glass (only one I found that does is the one that comes with the Otterbox) and i HATE the Zagg, it kills resolution and makes your phone look like an orange peel.
Anyway, I'm sure someone here can help you out a little more, I know there are several sites to order some.

Amazon will ship to canada right? I have that one, i love it and it fits the whole screen. They make two other kinds as well.

thanks, the review says it's matte, which means it's anti-glare and highly oil resistant? More than non-matte ones I assume?
I have a matte screen protector for my iPad2 and it's very oil resistant. The one I have for the EVO 3D is also supposed to be oil resistant, but it's nothing compared to the matte... Are all non-matte protectors like this?
I think I'm gonna get that once this one wears out. Thanks.

The one you have might be phantom skinz, It's what I use and I'm a big fan of it

I'm having a hard time finding a screen protector for my EVO 3D in Canada as well. I was going to get the Invisible Shield but read the same reviews as you did, that they're longer than the screen. Amazon.com doesn't ship to Canada.
I was reading up on Ghost Armor and might consider it. Or just go to the Asian mall and get one from them.

Best screen protector hands down. I had to put it on twice because I had an exchange for phones and it still works relatively well.

Hmmmmm.... I've used them for my o.g. evo 4g, but not for my 3d. I'm actually looking for the type that just cover the actual screen, (like the ones they sell at sprint). The only problem with the ones from sprint is that they scratch really easy, & if you're not careful when applying them you'll end up with a bunch of scratches I've tried so many from e-bay/amazon but they're never cut right, or don't line up

The zagg doesn't kill the screen I'm not sure which one you have. The matte zagg does decrease the brightness of the screen because of the matte finish. And it doesn't decrease the resolution because resolution isn't the brightness of the screen...

I got a zagg invisishield for $12 shipped on ebay. Reduces smudges and glare which is nice. Also the lifetime warranty is nice to have. You usually get a replacement a week after you request one.

Get this one. It's one of the best clear screen protectors I've used on a phone, and I've used steinheil and the like. The fit is better than most, others are rather conservative and cut their protectors shorter to make install easier. This one fits close to the edge and still installs very easily. Just get it.

Ebay screen protectors, any suggestions?

Hi all:
Does anyone have any suggestions for good screen protectors for the Tilt2 off of Ebay?
I know there are a number of name brand ones which are good, but I have an Ebay gift certificate, so I'd like to buy from there if possible. I can't seem to find any of the good name brand ones on ebay, so I was hoping someone may have tried one of the ones that are available on there.
Suggestions would really be appreciated.
Thanks!
PS: I am currently using the one that came with the phone, and I was happy with its quality, but it has gotten quite scratched up, quickly, so I need to replace it.

Extremely easy to apply, barely any bubbles/air pockets to be seen. My screen looks like it doesn't even have one on.
Or you could try this link. I ordered mine, but I didn't received them yet so I don't have pictures to upload, but they look sharp

I've always ordered screen protectors from Clarivue. The one I put on my Palm TX 4 years ago is still on it. They're durable.
As to ebay, the seller I've always used for clarivues is JHongs. They currently don't have protectors for the Tilt 2 listed, but the last time I asked them to list one they didn't have up, they happily did so.
Just message them, give them the link to the Tilt 2 clarivue (linked above), tell them you're ready to buy, you heard they would list it for you, and I'll betcha in 48 hrs your new screen protector will be on the way.
I bought ebay item #250541670275. It only cost $2.98, it shipped from California, and I had it within a week. They fit the tilt 2 VERY nicely, and I can't tell there's anything on the screen. Buy it!
Thanks so much to everyone who replied!
I will definitely be ordering one of the ones suggested in this thread.
Thanks again!!

I wouldn't call it bad, but in terms of durability it's lacking compared to clarivue or boxwave or some other name brands.
im To late
but your best bet would have been zagg. most of those cheap plasic one's only hold up for about 3 month or so. zagg hold up until u decide to take it off.
www.zaggs.com that the main site and there should be some on ebay also. i kno that you have a gift card.

Don't get this if you have a Tilt2. Just thought i'd give you a heads-up (it'sthe T-Mobile version).
If you still haven't purchased any scrren protector, you must have a look at this, although it's not on ebay it's very cheap and offers full body protection.

If it's not cheap enough use 20% discount cupone PPCSG20
I have excellent experience ordering from Amazon and HIGHLY recommending this seller - Eforcity. (I've ordered 3 protectors for my CDMA and got 8 in the package - someone was pissed to my bennefit )

They say "scratch proof", but 3 of mine scratched.
Also, those "invisible shield" ones leave weird residue that does go away after a while, but it gets annoying.
After trying 3 types of screen protectors, I would HIGHLY suggest the regular scratch proof ones. They really work and the bubbles went away after a night of having it on.

Generally an anti-glare protector has a matte finish and generally the crystal clear ones are glossy. That's the distinction that matters in regards to fingerprints -- any glossy surface is going to be print-astic and hold on to finger oils with the jaws of life.
I have a clarivue anti-glare, and it is definitely more resistant to prints than the stock HTC protector was. But it's not magic, or even oleophobic, it's just an ordinary matte surface.
I also recommend a decent brand like boxwave or clarivue above some no-name protector if you want to be sure it's going to be durable. I used the same clarivue for 4 years on my palm TX and it was in a 100x better shape than the stock HTC protector was after a couple of weeks.

Is there a point for a screen protector?

Topic. Don't want to blow another 20 dollars if I dont need to. I heard gorilla glass is tough, so that's simply what i'm wondering. TIA
You don't need a $20 screen protector. Even the very cheapest clear screen protectors will work just fine. But you should definitely buy one unless you enjoy risking the screen being scratched.
Never had one on my EVO and I will never have one on my E3D. My EVO screen is in perfect condition. It really depends on how well you take care of your stuff. For me its a no.
I already have the Zagg on my EVO 3D screen and platinum case on it since yesterday. I have a 4 year old who loves to play with my phone. It's a must for me and it has saved me a couple of times. I replaced mine 2x from him messing with it. When i sold it yesterday, the screen was flawless.. It's just like big Zone said, it's how well you take care of it.
I never had one on my Evo. By the end, I had dropped it a couple of times, carried it in my pocket, etc, and it came out with only minor surface scratches that could only be seen in direct sunlight. So I won't be putting on on my 3D.
ive never had a screen protector on any of my recent phones.evo 4g, arrive, nexus s and now not evo 3d. But an employee at my store somehow managed to get a decent scratch dead in the middle of his. not sure how he thinks he had it in his pocket with a lighter. and he takes care of his stuff. so it is possible
i build scaffolding in a paper mill so a screen protector is a must for me as well as a defender case. i cant tell you how many times a screen protector has saved me from scratches.
You can get great deals on ebay...like 2 dollars for 6 of them.
Of course you need them. It never hurts to have it on there, have had them on all my phones. The one i have now has a couple scratches on it....i know the protectors are weaker than the screen glass but for two dollars why not slap one on there?
I posted an email from HTC in another post about Gorilla Glass.
It's not listed on Corning's site, and HTC says that it doesn't have Gorilla Glass.
Some people say that the email is wrong, but without anyone actually saying there is GG in the phone, I'm assuming that it doesn't have it.
Dear [name],
I appreciate your interest in some of new Android devices like the HTC Sensation 4G and the HTC EVO 3D. You were wondering about the availability of Gorilla glass in either of these new Android devices. Some of our devices come with screens made out of a proprietary formula of glass and some have Gorilla glass. Unfortunately, these devices are not in the list for Gorilla glass.
If you need any further assistance, you are welcome to send another inquiry through the HTC website by going through the Support page (http://www.htc.com/us/support) then tapping ‘send us an email’. You should input all the necessary information requested on the page.

I know some people will argue it, but without anyone actually saying that it does (other than some review or another forum), I don't believe it.
So yes, a screen protector is a good idea. Even if you never need it, it's cheap and it's always nice to have just in-case something does happen.
Thunderbolt had gorilla glass and it scratched super easy. I would imagine just like anything, there are different qualities to gorilla glass. For instance HTC could have cut a deal for a lesser product for cheaper money.
I normally take care of my devices, never really had an issue, except 1 time I was careless and a tape gun thing went flying out of my hand(no idea how) and the blade smacked dead on the screen of my evo. It made a little bubble on my zagg shield, but I still think it would have put a nice big scratch on the screen itself. Just for the occasional f'up, i'm going to be getting a screen protector.
I have screen protectors. The first week I had my Evo 4G I was using the Sprint screen protector. The screen got several little scratches where the screen protector doesn't cover. I bought a full cover shortly after that.
I would carry my phone in my front pocket.
IMO, No 10char

You don't know that. Most anything strong enough to scratch a full glass screen can peel off a screen cover while doing so.
I rarely use Screen protectors - but.. since i'm always an earlier adopter for the latest and greatest phones (yes, i did own and iphone4 at one point) friends and family always take it away from me and mess around. I'll keep a cheap protector on it for a couple months then remove it - and go naked.

$20? I really must start selling screen protectors to you if you are willing to pay that! They only cost about 20 cents in bulk, so some of these sellers have quite a markup! That said, I do think some of the places like Steinheil have a premium product.
Let me ask you this, have you ever seen an iPhone with a scratched screen? Those have gorilla glass too. It does scratch.
I have a clarvue screen protector on right now. Even though I take good care of my phone, a screen protector is cheap insurance. You can't even tell it is on.

This is what I have also, 2 for ~$11.00 from their site, iirc. I like it better than any of the others I've tried.
What is so special about Clarivue protectors compared to the cheap ones?

no screen protector needed. You can literally take a razor to the screen and it will be fine. It takes a ton of force and something very very tough to scratch the screen. I do run a protector but not to protect but to give a matte finish which works wonders in sunlight and also makes your finger just glide across the screen. The Otter Box Defender has the perfect material screen built in for this.

What's Best Screen Protector (No Spray, No Orange Peel)

I usually use PPC Techs WriteShields but they don't have them yet.
I hate the Zagg ones, there a bad joke.
I don't care for ones that use liquid to put them on, I never had trouble putting ones on perfectly without liquid.
Is the EVO 3D have the exact screen size of some other phones already out.
I may just wait for PPCTechs but the ones that used to be included with Sprint Phones were very similar and quite good.
Does Sprint sell them for this phone?
Looks like Sprint does sell them. $14.99 2 Clear, 1 Anti-Glare plus $6.50 ship !!
I Found theexact part on EBay for $10.00, $2.00 to ship
I searched for ZCH5009V on Ebay.

i alsways use seidio for my screen protectors
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/spm1hev3d.htm
there not rubbery like zag
pretty easy to put on
no water needed
cheaper the most
and there slick once u start using them so ur finger doesn't stick when swiping sliding playing games etc
if in doubt buy the 2 pack its only like 15$ for two worse case u mess up first one and have an extra one left
also if ur really bad with em take it in to sprint or bestbuy with just the screen protector and ask em to put it on and they'll do it saying "its a gift for mom" or something im sure they wont care
Boxwave are simply the best screen protectors, bar none, in my opinion. I've used them all, and nothing comes close.

I have used Steinheil for all of my phones. Ordered these and got them yesterday:
http://www.amazon.com/SGP-Screen-Pr...QNJQ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1310872807&sr=8-5
Installed it today, super easy. Very clear protector, you can't tell it is on. Adds a nice feel to the screen, and the oleophobic coating on the protector makes fingerprints and other gunk wipe off easily without need for a cleaning cloth or something of the like.

agreed!
unfortunately, Boxwave doesn't have one available for the 3d yet, so I went with Clarivue, which are just as nice...
it should be mentioned that the Boxwave/Clarivue screen protectors are hard plastic type, giving a very smooth screen feel
I've been using the "Cellett" brand from Fry's.
Whopping $4.99
You cannot tell it's there, perfectly clear, not sticky when dragging finger across, and (from previous phones) I know they last years if installed correctly.
Yea, the Zagg ones from worst buy or wherever blow.
FYI, I bought the Sprint ones.
They stink.
They scratch VERY easy even though they are the hard smooth clear plastic type.
And they do not cover the whole screen.

[Q] Screen Protectors

I just ordered me the photon today, I like to put screen protectors on my phones as soon as I can.
What are our options for high end screen protectors for the photon?
After some searching, the only one I found was skinomi. Currently $6.95 on amazon.
I ordered a 5 pack off eBay for $3 and change. It's shipping from Hong Kong
The 3 pack of screen protectors for the HTC EVO 3D sold in the Sprint retail stores for $14.99 plus applicable sales tax are a perfect fit for the Motorola Photon 4G. IMHO, the Otterbox Defender Series Case is your best protection for it.
Just bought a case on eBay that comes with a screen protector. We'll see how it works out.

I'm currently using the EVO 3D screen protector from the Sprint retail store. It is working well but getting a few scratches. The protectors are definately a bit more than I would like but I wasn't willing to risk scratches to the screen. With my prior EVO i used ghost armor... the sprint sales person said the EVO 3D screens are specifically designed to not interfere with the touch technology.... not sure if I buy it but I was still suckered into spending ...

they dont cover the bottom portion of the screen, sorry fail, scatches have a way to find places that are not covered.
Also the oil/dirt from your finger rubbing will eventually start to lift the edge of the film.

I actually received mine yesterday (2 days after I ordered it, I'm impressed).
But I have some fitment issues with the skin.
Not sure if it's a bad cut or if they're all like this but it seems it was cut just a hair too wide.
Three out of four corners line up really well, however one goes past the screen by about 1mm.
I've uploaded pictures but I'm not allowed to post outside links at the moment
I've contacted skinomi, waiting to see what they say.
Just got my Skinomi and applied it, everything seemed fine but an hour later i noticed i let some lint, very small string get stuck underneath, DOH! otherwise mine fit snug. regardless of the lint ill keep mine on for now until the BodyGaurdz Kiosk or Invisible Shield kiosk gets in the Photon and ill have them apply a new skin.
Damn after another hour i realized my skinomi fit perfectly, i had no problems with fit, no curling, everything is great except for that damn piece of lint in the middle of the screen, damnit. I guess i will try to block it out of my head that it exists.

From my experience, the area of screen I see most prone and most likely to end up with scratches on it sjjones is the LCD area which the HTC EVO 3D screen protectors completely cover. As I stated as well, the best defense and protection for the Motorola Photon 4G is the Otterbox Defender Series case. Yes, it is the most expensive carrying solution on the market, but it is also the most protective.

Try contacing zagg to see if they'll replace it. I know some of the brands of those kinds of screens have some kind of lifetime warranty.
Although generally they don't cover bad installation, it's still worth a shot.
Well other than the lint and occasional finger nail mark the Skinomi ended up pretty well, its almost exactly like the invisible shield but much cheaper. No bubbles, no peeling. The lint bothers me though; Instead of returning this one which costs you like 4-5 bucks (on their so called warranty). I decided to purchase the carbon fiber skin + screen protector combo they sell and just put a new screen protector on in a cleaner environment.
http://www.skinomi.com/sk5877-motorola-photon-skin-carbon-fiber-skin-protector.html
(it supposedly looks different than in the picture but i cant find anywhere on the web a picture of the real cut)
I have a 25% off coupon for skinomi, "skinomi25"
when i get this i'll try to take pictures this time, i keep forgetting to charge my dust-covered Nikon D80
Steinheil?
Anyone ever try Steinheil Ultra Crystal protectors? I can't find one yet for the Photon but heard they are the best available. Easily found for other phones on ebay.

[Q] Favorite Screen Protector?

Just got my first screen scratch on my new Rezound yesterday and have been kicking myself ever since. I've used screen protectors in the past on my tablets, but I personally didn't like the way they felt. They felt plasticky and cheap, whereas the glass screens were so smooth and premium-feeling.
My question to you, the Internet, is about screen protectors. Which one do you like most? Which one feels most like glass/is least noticeable/etc.?
(I searched, but most of the recommended ones in other threads are not produced for the Rezound yet.)
I havent found any legit ones on ebay yet. I like the rubbery film protectors not the hard plastic ones. My favorite for the Inc1 and 2 was the NakedShield. Those were awesome. Couldnt even tell there was anything on it.
I bought one from ebay by "xtreme guard" and it was awful. Pretty good materials but terrible shipping. I got several replacements from him because he ships them alone in an envelope and they come stuck to the side and rip when taken out. I told him several times and attempted to send him pictures of me opening the envelope and seeing the destroyed product but he didnt care
I have one from verizon that I got when I purchased the phone and it's ok, but I have used the seidio ultimate screen guard on every phone I've had since the Evo 4g on Sprint and I really like the feel of them. It's really clear, goes on easy and doesn't feel sticky. I would recommend them.

I like the rubbery kind cause they don't scratch or mar.
I use the Ghost Armor brand.
It's crystal clear.
Smooth but not plastic feel.
Some people talk about orange peel effect, for me I only see it if I hold the phone at extreme angle. I never see it or feel it in actual use.
The Ghost Armor seems to be more finger oil resistant than nakedd or the plastic static screen protectors.
And with Ghost's you get life time replacements for your device.
They also have kiosk in malls, where they do installs and replacements.
Yeah $5 replacements and $20 for initial product and install. Ebay protector costs $2 and does the same thing plus I don't have to stick it in an oven or coat it in water.
anybody find one that covers the whole screen including the camer, LED and light sensor?
I've been using (and loving) Skinomi. Yeah, with that name it sounds like it should be sold in a sex shop, but it's a fantastic screen protector. It feels like the bare glass, is crystal clear, and can be put on easily.
You know, now that I think about it, maybe it SHOULD be sold in a sex shop...

Well that's one way to look at it. My previous phone I put the full body Ghost armor on myself, went like 9 months, no case, then it started to peel around the edges got it re-skinned for 5 and it lasted another 18 months until I got this phone.
I tried those static protectors and I just don't like the feel, and they get smudges galore.
E-bay may have something just as good or better but I don't know what it is, and don't have the time to waste buying from a bunch of different places. There's probably a thousand choices on eBay, but I have no clue which is good or if they are even consistent with what they sell. They may be getting screen protectors from several manufacturers.
I'm not certain, but I thought the 5 buck replacement is only if you have it re-installed at a kiosk?
I picked up the clear Halo ones off of Amazon, and am really happy. Don't like the rubbery Zagg ones, and don't like the anti-glare ones as they seem to mess with the clearness of the screen.
I bought the clear Verizon ones when I picked up the phone, and while they are clear, they scratch very easily.
I've had the Halo ones for about a week. They are just as clear, and haven't scratched yet. They fit better than the Verizon, a bit wider so they cover edge to edge, but not quite tall enough. (When you install them, start at the top)

so far the Seido ultimate screen guards have satisfied me, as clear as the glass, no distortions at any angle... I do recommend!
Just got a second one from "Clear Freak" on ebay. He sent me one for the wrong phone. So I'm having no luck with eBay protectors. I trimmed it to fit but wouldnt advise it. I do tint all day so it came pretty easy to me
Pretty happy with the one that came with my otterbox. tried the Zagg but didnt get along with that one.
I have the REALOOK Crystal Clear one. works very well and no distortions. fits the front plate perfectly from edge to edge. It covers the capacitive buttons, camera hole, and proximity sensor.
Applied in a steamed bathroom and result had no air bubbles.

Not a good idea. Had several people call in with water damage on their phones and I had to tell em tough luck. Doesn't matter if it actually has water damage just if the external or internal sticker turns pink

I just got in my Boxwave Crystal Clear today and it fits over the entire glass top to bottom with a cutout for the front facing camera. I had one on my Dinc for 2 years and it was great--got very view scratches--and I like the feel on the screen. They are expensive but can be removed, cleaned, and replaced.

I've had these for about a month, and they're the best. It still feels like you just have the glass on it still, and it really does cover every part of the glass area. You honestly forget there's anything on it.

I love my ZAGG protector. They're difficult to put on, but it's worth it. Had one for the DInc and it lasted the entire two years until my upgrade, and is still currently on there! I don't get the rubbery feel that others mentioned, mine is smooth as a baby's bottom.

Press your fingernail into the black area above or below the screen. You will see it is not hard like the bare glass. That small bit of give is what is being described. The static screen protectors don't have that.

I agree, REALOOK Screen Protectors are good quality. It covers the entire face, with anti-glare and anti-fingerprint qualities...
