[Q] Rom Manager Premium - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I purchased Rom Manager Premium so I can install Enyo's latest MIUI rom. The problem is, no ROMs are showing up under the "premium roms" tab. Do I need to add locations to ROM manager somehow? I thought they should just show up after I upgraded....

While donating to the developers is never a bad idea, Enyos Miui rom is free to download? 10.14 is working great for me, but I believe he is getting ready to upload another version that has.a few minor fixes in it. (Although I haven't noticed any problems here.)

Thanks for the response. The link to his rom is not working on his developer page. He said it's available in ROM manager, but I only see 4-5 ROMs in there and none of them are Enyo roms...

My guess is that you don't have your phone setup properly in rom mananger. Your phone is probably being recognized as I9000.
You could fix this, or better yet, just install your roms directly through recovery. Be sure to use the correct recovery for the rom you are installing.

Install this via odin: Odin/Heimdall flashable recovery: hxxp://dl.dropbox.com/u/14764513/cwm...r_cm7-ODIN.tar
Open rom manager, select use current recovery.
Pick Fascinate (MTD). Then pick ClockwordMod 3.x
Edit: added download, since link wont help you unless you google it.

Yes this is almost exactly what I did to get it to work. You have to touch flash clockworkrecovery and set up your phone to use your version of clockwork ...once I set it up.it.immediately shows the Roms

Thanks for the help. I found that all I had to do was open Rom Manager App and flash CWM to choose my phone. From there it was all the same. No need to Odin or anything else.

This was the first time I have ever used Rom Manager to do anything with a ROM. Could not find the last MIUI build anywhere but there. I prefer to boot into recovery and install that way. Maybe cause there is less chance for error. I just used Rom Manager to download the Rom and still installed the old way after I changed out the ringtones and the mms.apk.

Cool ROM?

So uhhh, my boyfriend got me this phone a few days ago and I want to get a custom ROM on it. He's in alaska so he can't help me out for 14 more days, so Im here. Umm, well I just use AIO Vibrant toolbox to flash back to stock, so it's eclair I guess, not sure what that really means but thats what my phone says.
Then I rooted it, and it has superuser.
So what do I do now.. can you guys recommend me a ROM and help me install one? Like.. whats a good ROM, and.. what do I need to do. Do I need to update to froyo, if so how do I do that. Sorry Im such a newbie at all this, I hope someone helps me out!
Yeah and also like, I would like a ROM that looks awesome and is good for battery. Just an overall awesome popular one. Please if possible help me, or give me instuctions on like... installing it, I literally don't know diddaly squat about installing ROMS, I just wanna do it
the easiest way to install a rom would be to download rom manager. If you're gonna stick with froyo (which I recommend since its a lot easier to install and is better with battery), you won't have to get premium. after downloading rom manager, open it and select flash clockworkmod recovery at the top, then select galaxy S vibrant (make sure you select just vibrant NOT vibrant (MTD)). After that select reboot into recovery, if you are in CWM recovery then you can go ahead and reboot, if not, then select reinstall packages. It should then install CWM recovery and bring you back tot he same screen, select reinstall packages again and it should bring you to CWM recovery. After that go ahead and reboot, then go back to rom manager. Now you can go to download rom and select a rom you would like to install. I highly recommend project V or bi winning. Good luck!
I would recommend to flash a rom with rom manager. Its the easiest way to install any custom rom. You may have to vet the premium version for it but is so easy you can mess up.
I would recommend trigger project v or even trigger 3.2. Its fast and awesome.

I would suggest that you learn how to use Odin first before flashing a custom rom to your phone. Learn how to go to download/recovery mode. This way you know what to do in case you soft bricked your phone.
Then just flash in rom manager like what they said.

Oh and one important thing that the guys forgot to mentions above, Rom Manager is in the market, so yeah, and I would suggest you flash Bi-Winning V3 Rom

You are incorrect sir! Simply honey and revolution rom are better and faster than most froyo roms. I know because I've have tried them all. As for a froyo roms they are all decent and should try one of those before you move to gb. Warning flashing roms is addictive once you start its hard to stop. Good luck.

I recommend Bionix 1.3.1. It is known for its stability, and I feel it's a great rom to start off with. Novices and experts at flashing use it from what I have read in the thread. Also, it has decent battery life, but you can flash a new kernel (like Bali UV (undervolt)) which has showed to save battery life. I will put both links below for you to take a look at. Most of the time the instructions to install a kernel or rom are in the original post, however as stated you can flash through rom manager. If you want more in-depth details on how to install them, you can pm me, or I can post them here also.

Agreed, that is the set up I currently am using, I flashed a couple days ago and haven't been getting the battery life that others are claiming to have but the rom is really good. I've tried several of the gb roms and they are way to buggy its not even worth it.

For what u want to use ROM Manager???I don't think, that Rom Manager supports Siyah!!!
When u flashed Siyah, u must have got an app named "cwm".
Use that, it has all functions of Rom Manager.

And CM9 doesn't support Siyah. Not sure it would even boot.
His recovery is from CM9's included kernel, and it's recovery 5.5.

Rom Manager is well known for causing problems with SGS2. Use it @ your peril. Much "safer" to boot into CW Recovery & do all one's flashing/backup/recovery/etc.
Then if someone uploads the downloded one somewhere so everybody takes it and put it in cwm folder in internal sd

Download chainfires cwm manager it gives you similar options depending on your kernel.

Ready to rock / root?

I have spent the fortnight since getting my s2 reading everything I can about roms, rooting etc and I cant say that there wasnt / isnt some confusion, but this is where I am as of now.
I want to start trying some other roms like CM7 or MIUI
To root I have kies installed for the drivers.
I have odin and also super one click
I have downloaded the stock kernel for my phone which is XWKI4 from the xda site. I have the very bottom one which is around 8mb. My phone is from CFW but I didnt download the 200mb plus CFW one ( not sure if I need to? ).
I am going to download any insecure kernel and use with odin and then use superone click. I am then going to put the stock secure kernel back on.
Then I planned to download clockwork rom manager from the app store and start to download and flash firmwares with that.
Am I on the right lines or miles away from where I need to be? Been an iphone user for 3+ years so android in itself is completely new to me.
Any advice or help or confirmation I look good to go would be very much appreciated indeed.
Thanks.
Easiest to flash a cf-root to get the phone rooted. Installs CWM also.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Do not install anything with Rom Manager. If you want to flash things do it with CWM recovery. Go here and get your phone rooted and follow the guide it gives you. Could not be more simple to do it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
You have odin which is great. Just find the kernel that matches your current firmware and just flash away. This way you get cwm recovery and then you get the cwm manager apk which again is a must app to have. More explanation is better on the thread link i gave above

[Q] Help - TW launcher is not responding

Hello
After I rooted my phone, I freezed a couple of programs, and got carried away. Now twlauncher is not working. I've tried factory reset. But that didn't work. Now I am stuck at a screen telling me twlauncher stopped working.
I cannot do anything. I am using the danish version of ICS. There are to many threads on how to flash ICS. I have no idea which one to trust, that works. So I would really appriciate it, if somebody could help me. I am kinda scared/freaking out.
Thanks.
Hey. Do not worry. Have you got CWM Recovery installed in your ROM? Go into recovery mode and clear both Cache Partition and Then go into Advanced and clear Dalvik Cache. If that does not work i recommend you flash the most stable rom which is Litening ROM. I am using it for nearly a year and it is the most trustable rom.. Also installation guide os very well provided on Litening ROM thread.

Come on, do the work yourself. 290 posts and you can't be bothered searching?! Use the FAQs and stickies, that's why they're there.
You've given no info as to how you managed to bork TW launcher either. "Got carried away"... "freeze a couple of programs"... Very helpful.
For future reference - always handy to have another launcher installed for emergencies.

Don't know if there's a specific Danish version - not even sure if there is an official ICS in Scandinavia yet, never use Kies (I'm in Norway). Scandinavian firmwares have NEE as a CSC code.
Try Check Fus to find the most recent dansk firmware, then samfirmware.com for downloads.
Lykke til.

Here you go.
Edit - or did you mean the firmware file to be installed with Odin, not actually Odin itself?
If I were you, I'd worry about ICS later, and get stock GB flashed first - at least you'll have a working phone. Follow the guides jjegan linked you to.

To install cm10 you need root access, go check cfroot by chain fire. Gapps is basically your Google now etc. With a custom recovery, just flash the cm10 and Gapps and you'll be good to go.
Stock kernel is subjective with very little difference. All kernels work for me so it's not so much of an issue deciding which is better.
The best rom is the one you try for yourself. Rom comparisons are not allowed on xda
Latest stock will be depending on whether you want android version 4. 1.1 or 4.0.4
Wrong section btw, should be posted in the q&a

You can safely ignore that error.
CWM in the apps drawer is the UI interface of the CWM recovery (accessed by pressing the Vol Up+Home+Power when booting up). CWM recovery works without a hitch.

All options are there when you boot into recovery, it is just the app that is incompatible, meaning a couple of the options won't work directly from the app....you need to boot into recovery to do those things.....don't worry, it's all there.
I personally prefer the older recovery as it doesn't use the blob method of backing up. And I'm used to the old way!
