Hi there, i just want to know how to test the wifi calling, or how to se it, hope you can give me step by step instructions.. thanks
Not trying to be a smart ass or anything, but I would just turn on WiFi, enable WiFi calling, make sure it is running and connected to T-Mobile then either make or receive a call.
There is really not much set-up to the app other than connecting to a WiFi network and turning it on. The app should give you status messages letting you know if WiFi calling is working or not. You should also see a WiFi calling icon in the notification bar.

Hi guys I am trying to make a reocurring tasker profile with airplane mode (cell disabled) BUT wifi ON. The situation in my house is wifi strength is amazingg and radio signal is pretty much zero.
The purpose of this is to manually set your phone in the network state of airplane mode BUT keep wifi on and still receive all your phone calls and texts as you would on radio. For those of us who have bad signal and don't have particularly long voice calls, this would also save a good bit of battery
When I have airplane mode off (RADIO, with or without wifi) I want to receive calls as I normally would.
One big problem I've come across on my carrier/AOKP roms is that in order for my phone to enable call forwarding to google voice/grooveip I must have my radio enabled and go into the contacts settings to enable the call forwarding manually. As far as I know there isn't an easy way to do this in tasker.
I wanted to know if someone could help devise a tasker profile for this. It's very useful and a lot of people could use it.
I've tried searching if anyone had this issue, but I can't find anything. When my wifi is on, I have no signal. When I turn it off, my signal bar goes full again. I'm pretty sure this has to do with wifi calling, because when that's turned off and wifi is on, I don't have an issue. I'm just noting this because I'm not sure if it's a bug or it's meant to be that way. When I put "cellular preferred" my signal shows up again. Anyone else experience this?
Yes it's definitely got to do with the WiFi calling. Just disable it and you'll be fine.

that is exactly how wifi calling works, it's been that way since the very first iteration of wifi calling.... since your calls go via wifi, and data is also on wifi, it disables the cellular radio to save power, essentially you look to your wifi signal indicator for signal strength
I've concluded something about this, even tho you see no signal your getting signal ,I can send myself a text or anyone with WiFi calling on and no bars ...so evidently there is signal ,because sms works off data only and wifi calling does not support sms or mms only calls , so if sms can go thru there must be signal even tho it's visually not evident

Interesting was pretty sire WiFi calling also supported text and mms too. Thought I saw it on the site. Where did you read that it dorsnt support it ?

My gf phone on bnh5 and get text messages don't come through when connected to wifi any ideas?
Is WIFI calling enabled? I've missed texts and calls when using WIFI calling.
It's wifi calling's fault. Just turn it off if you really don't need it. It's really pretty bad.
Anyone else face this issue? if you tether the phone internet to your laptop, it works as expected but once you make/receive a call, the internet on the laptop will stop working. I also note that the phone signal will drop from 4G to 3G/H+ on the phone once you make/receive a call.
I have tried to reach out to Huawei for support but not getting any resolution from them.
Issue can be reproduce as below:
1. Tether your phone to your laptop and check that internet is available on your laptop.
2. Have someone call your phone or make an outgoing call, you will notice your mobile signal drop from 4G to 3G/H+. Keep the call ongoing and dont hang up.
3. Check your laptop to confirm that internet has stop working.
Not surprising at all, it's by design and not linked to the fact you're tethering the smartphone's data connection.
Without tethering, use a hands free kit or earphones, make a call or simply call your voicemail and now on the smartphone try browsing or any connected app, they'll fail: data connection is lost during voice call.
In order to keep your (4G) data connection, your mobile provider has to support VoLTE and you must activate related option on your phone. I did it, it's working, didn't try calling while tethering but I'm quite sure it's the same case =)
Still no internet with either VoLTE on and off. And I dont think this is to be expected as my previous phone, Xiaomi Mi Max has no issue and can do both call and tethering at the same time. And my colleague just did a test with his new Samsung Note9 and also didnt face this issue. Not sure if this is a software bug or a hardware design flaw/limitation
I use tethering/hotspot every few days and didn't notice any problem. Signal drops from 4G to 3G because Mate 10 doesn't support VoLTE but internet works fine for me.

Please test tethering while on call, not just tethering alone. Tethering alone works fine for me as well.
Internet will pause during phone call unless your network is VoLTE. My phone network signal will change from 4G to H+ during phone call.

As I said, it works fine while on call. I use tethering in my second apartment, airports and in almost every caffe bar and didn't notice any network problems on my notebook if someone calls me. There is one lost packet when phone starts ringing and that's it.
The first photo is WiFi hotspot + phone call and the second photo is USB tethering + phone call.
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the input on VoLTE, base on this info, i query my telco (Starhub) regarding this, and just a few mins ago i received an SMS that "HD Voice Plus" had been activated for my number. HD voice plus is just what they call VoLTE. Now i have a VoLTE icon on the top left of my phone. I tried the same case again and sure enough it is working now. Cheers.
Hey all, been a long time since I've been down here, but I got a Verizon S9+ last week. Bone stock with latest update. I've had wifi calling issues right from the start. My house has terrible service, so with my old S4 I was almost always on wifi calling at home.
My issues:
It seems totally random. Sometimes it automatically switches to wifi calling no problem, other times it simply won't switch, even though I can't get out a text message or a call. Usually a reboot fixes the problem, but I don't need to be rebooting all day when I'm at home, and I miss calls and texts all the time. In testing, it's switching fine sometimes, and I can run upstairs and into the basement while on a call, and it will automatically switch back and forth. Other times, if it has even one bar of service, it will not switch, even though I can't make calls or send texts.
I have tried network reset, and factory data reset, no joy. Wifi calling is on, and I set "prefer wifi while roaming". If I am in airplane mode, even when connected to wifi, it will not make a call or send a text.
Another odd issue is with a group text. If I send a text to multiple people at once, I get an "invalid address" error.
It seems a lot of people on the internet are asking about issues with wifi calling with the S9's, should I just dump this thing and downgrade to an S8?
