MMS not working? Try this... - HTC EVO 3D

If you have checked your mms settings on the evo or any other device and you have a custom ROM try this before anything else [it worked for me just now]: settings.system update.update profile (and what did it for me); settings.system update.update PRL(preferred roaming list).
Not sure why the PRL update would work, but it does. This works when your settings are correct, have signal, and mms doesn't fail but eternally shows the hour glass as if the send is in progress.
This may be old news, not helpful, or not work for your particular situation but I thought I would post, as it would have been helpful for me when mine didn't send today for what appeared like no reason. Give me some feedback, let us know if this worked for you, or tell us what else you did that did work. BUT, PLEASE include the symptoms of your particular problem in the post so others with the same symptoms can fix theirs. I can then update the OP for all cases and scenarios!

I am sorry, I am not sure if bumping a thread is against TOS, if it is let me know and I won't do it again.I just want to give some more people a chance to see this if they are having a problem with their multimedia messaging. If there is no interest I will let the thread die a quick death.

i have done this a couple times. yes, it works.
don't ever update your prl, though. sprint usually sucks at prl updates. do it manually with your msl number

Hey thanks, Cobra, for your feedback and info! I am not familiar with what your MSL number is, how to obtain it or where to update like you described. Can you tell me about that?
Thanks for the heads up either way!

Fix for official Sprint Touch Pro Picture Mail...

**Update**
My Official fix for this issue is here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=57848
You can disregard this thread now...
****
Hey all,
OK, Like most other people using the Sprint Stock ROM on their Touch Prio and the Sprint MMS Official CAB, I was experienceing delayed sending (sometimes hours) and delayed receiving (woul dnot receive unless I physically opened the MMS app)....
However, this CAB seemned to fix it on my Sprint Touch Pro with STOCK ROM...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3281937&postcount=8
It appears to be Arcsoft MMS for another region/platform (sony Ericsson Xoeria X1). When you install it, there is no apparent app, and there are a few reg entired - that's it. Don't sweat it.
So, Install the above CAB then soft reset for good measure - then uninstall it right away. Whatever this installed, altered, and/or left behind caused my TP to send within a minute or two, and receive just fine....
(Backround info:
I installed this just thinking it was another version of arcost to try on my TP - After installation, I couldn't find anything other than a few files that it placed on my phone, and then I deleted it because I knew it wasn't like the other, functional, installs... Then BAM, perfect sprint Pic Mail 100% of the time there after....
Seems to be 100% fixed - finally!
Can you guys try this as well and report back. I want to see if this was just a fluke...
Thanks,
Matt!
Has anyone else tried this? There is an Arcsoft MMS specifically for Sprint here in the forums as well.
Mine takes forever to send too and am thinking about trying this. But the last time I changed my picturemail crap I had to spend an hour on the phone with Sprint to have them reset my PM account.

Yea,
I have tried every Arcsoft release under the sun and, as many others can confirm, none work properly on the Stock Sprint ROM.
Therefore, I am using Sprints official PicMail app. The app is fine, howeve,r it tends to take hours to send and receive picture - making it pretty much useless.
The fix i discussed in the 1st post of this threas uses an arcsoft installation/uninstallation that actually fixes the sprint pic mail app.
I have already confirmed from others that this works.
I don't forsee any issues at all trying this fix - especailly due to the lack of files installed - AND the fact that it is immediately uninstalled.
Let us know,
Matt!
so wait ur going to have to explain this better.....
Do we have the Sprint Picture mail Application on still installed on our phones when we install Acrsoft? ..ur not making much sense in ur instructions

Ok,
a) Make sure you have the newest version of Sprint Mail installed on your Touch Pro
b) Install the cab from my first post to your device (main memory)
c) Right after it is installed, go ahead and soft reset.
d) UNinstall the cab you just added (arcsoft)
e) Soft Reset
f) Enjoy your Sprint Pic Mail better because the lag is gone!
Make sense?
Matt!

I have a question is it just parts of the program left behind after uninstall or registry tweaks because if its registry tweaks wouldnt it be easier just to post the tweaks.
just want to let you know that though i dont know whether installing and uninstalling the arcsoft cab fixes anything but it has been confirmed to me from sprints top tech that they have been experiencing picture mail problems nation wide. and everything seems to be ok for non black berry users now, just want to see if other ppl are having better luck with the picture mail since last night.
i would just like to be able to use it. only one person told me she got my pic( she has a blackberry) but other than that no one else gets my pics!!!
i would love to fix this
didnt work for me and i followed all of killerQ's steps.
well i tried it both ways and i actually got my mms alot quicker.. Thanks

More non-working MMS

Hey all, new to the forum. Great site you guys have here...very helpful. I do have one problem that I hope you guys can help me with. I recently flashed my Alltel Touch Pro to the latest Energy ROM, and everything is great except I can't receive MMS. I have the exact server settings I previously had on the stock ROM, and I'm also using the Arcsoft software that supposed to be specifically for Alltel phones. I've tried the stock radio, Telus Radio, and now I'm on the Sprint radio.
People can get my pictures I send, but it doesn't seem like my phone even makes an attempt to get any back. Anyone have any ideas? I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
if you find an answer to this let me know. I posted this question a week ago and no one wants to help. Its actually making me doubt the validity of this site...
Sure thing man. I've searched and searched all over the web for a solution to this and I have yet to find something that actually works. I was hoping someone could shed some light on this :-/
Hello, im new here as well. I have a verizon touch pro, and just did a hard reset to clean things up, and Im still having trouble with sending MMS. Specifically ones with mutiple pictures, or captions. I can receive a message and forward it and all will work. But if I try to send a pic of my own, the text will not appear on others' phones, and multiple pictures dont work, just the first pic goes through. Is there another program better than arc soft?
Jason

[MOD] VZW 3g hotspot app for froyo leak

How to use the 3g hotspot app for free
I looked and looked and didnt find this anywhere except for eclair and just got done doing mine a little bit ago as the steps are different now.
You used to be able to select dial up mode in wireless settings but now if you have the new froyo leak. Now you dial **usbui and change usb mode to modem. Plug in to pc fire up qpst add port once you see phone select start clients/service programming. next click read from phone, password should be typed in already as 000000. scroll over to m.ip and select the active profile, should be profile 0 and change tethered nai to [email protected] the phone will reboot and your good to go start tethering with apmode. Some may choose to reenter the usb modem settings and change it back to pda(the first step) but i do not see it as neccessary. If this has been posted by someone else already feel free to delete and if in wrong catagory feel free to move.
Just remember these steps are for FROYO leak anly not for eclair users although they may work for that also just dont have an eclair phone to test on.
I have done this for a long time and never encoured any charges although i am not liable for any problems you may come across, ive never had any. As long as your not seeing the verizon webpage when you access web via your phone then your set.
Any questions feel free to ask but i may just tell you to google it.

There is supposedly monitoring built into dl30 that allows verizon to track tethering

Why can't that file just be removed from the ROM? Would it cause the rom to just not work at all?
Forgive me for probably not using the correct terminology but does the mobile hotspot app handle tethering the same as say the wifi tether app? I just wonder if one sets off the flag to verizon where the other wouldn't.

It will break wifi if you remove the module. It ties into dhd.ko, the wifi driver.
Play nice everybody
Just got off the phone with Verizon. Been using the 3g hotspots for several days now tethered more then a gig so and I called and just asked if I was being billed for the hotspots app and they said there is nothing on my account about it that I've never had it and I would never be charged for it unless I actually signed up by changing my plan. So I'm gonna keep using mine. If anything changes I will let everyone know but I personally believe it is safe to use. I think that moniters for when you hit the 5 gig mark on your data then they start to throttle it. But this is just my opinion. But I think its a good one.;-)
Not to mention I've been using it for a pretty long while on eclair before froyo.
In fact I'm tethering right now to my gtab.
I have a couple problems with that.
First, if you admitted it, your account was likely flagged.
Second, VZW reps change their stories each time you call.
The monitor wasn't in place on eclair.

Does the same thing hold true if you wanted to use WiFi Tether for Root Users? Maybe this has already been answered, but I'm just looking for confirmation. TIA...
We don't know.

If it's any consolation, VZW doesn't have a flagging system, at least not one the frontline reps can access, so mentioning it on a call won't flag you. And the reason the stories change each time you call is because you might get a guy that's adept at what he does on the first call, then the next call you might get an outsourced moron from AFNI, and the next time get a person taking their first week of calls....
When you call, they are going to the features list, and looking for the feature called "Mobile Broadband Hotspot 2GB $20". Upon seeing it is not there, that is what they tell you.
What you NEED is a tech rep (like myself) to go into the back-side of the billing system or the switch, and check your records there. The switch will tell me if something is 'off' about your data, like if a rate limit has been added. The billing system will tell me if there are DUN (dial up networking) connections being reported. But, in all likelihood, the groups doing any kind of monitoring are **NOT** the folks taking your calls. They work in the switches or corporate, and their goings-on are a mystery to us that do take your calls. So, they could be minutely tracking each byte and I, as a tenured Tech rep, wouldn't have the foggiest idea what they were doing.
Just to share with you how 'in the loop' we in the call centers are kept, I had an engineer call me last week complaining that his test device couldn't authenticate phone calls. I asked for the number, and it pulls up a device listed as "Test Device 7". I asked for the make/model of the phone, and he tells me, "I can't tell you that, it's unreleased and classified". I then tell him, without even a brand, I can't create a new authentication key and give him steps to program it into the phone. He still wouldn't tell me anything, so I told him to seek help with the person that gave him the top secret phone and hope they can do my job too.
if the op wants to disregard the warnings and tether...then by all means tether...but theres a reason monitoring was put into froyo...and i cant imagine it was for our benefit...so meh

I didnt admit it i told them a family member had my phone and when i got it back the hotspot app was on my homescreen and wasnt for sure what they did with it. Besides even if they do charge me which i doubt they will its only gonna be 30 bucks. I can handle that to let everyone else know what really happens. But its just like people worryjng about sending back rooted phones with changes for warrenty replacements. I just wipe my numbers out and send it rooted boot animation changed everything even a custom rom and theme one time. They dont pay attention to the phones. They get them plug them in and flash them to stock. Just mt two cents. When i recieve my feb bill ill let you know whether or not i get charged anythjng for tethering.

Tether without root

Looks like the same method to get tether/hotspot without rooting that works for S6 also works for S7. Just like the S6 thread in which /u/KennyG123 pointed out a working solution originally for Note 4 by /u/MasterTentacles, here is the solution that also works for S7:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/general/lollipop-hotspot-root-flashing-t3048163
Similar to last time, since there is no root involved, knox isn't tripped and samsung pay still works. Similar to before, you still need MSL and need to re-apply the above settings with any major software update.

If you get your phone activated in a store, and are on an Easy Pay plan, they normally will not give you your MSL because the phone is "not yours" yet.
As soon as you get the phone, the next day, get into a chat with support and ask for a copy of the manual activation steps. This should give you the MSL as well. You might have to coach them into what you want. They tried to point me to the web activation, then to a semi manual activation, then the full manual one.

The reboot method still works after the update...
Reboot phone,
As soon as is possible navigate to and turn hotspot,
it usually works on 1st try,
if you get 'no data connection', quickly turn off and turn on hotspot again.
if you get 'not subscribed to this service', start at reboot again.
This is not my find,
it is from other GS7 hotspot thread.

Latest update greys out the APN settings and won't allow any changes. Any thoughts?

I have yet to find a way around it. There is a new update out. I have not installed it yet, still waiting to see the reports on what it changes.
For now, I can confirm that turning your phone off and then on, and activating hot spot immediately let's you turn it on.
The latest update improved Voice over WiFi, which I need to be better for work, so I'm sadly going to be the guinea pig for this update. I'll report back soon on whether or not it locks out the previously mentioned working option.

Scratch that; it detects you don't have the subscription after a moment even before the update.
Reboot method
I did do the update and reboot method still works for s7 sprint..... just play ps4 rainbow six siege 8 good rounds and didnt glitch....psb gamer tag Y2JVO69
How did you get it to work
Reboot your phone. As soon as you can unlock it open the hot spot settings and turn it on. Then connect something to it right away.

This is correct! Follow this YouTube video and it'll work for you to. Just verified on my unlocked GS7.

It's not perfect or consistent for me, I had to reboot it a couple of times to get it to work more than a few seconds but the second time it stayed on for several minutes! I went to test the internet and it was working as you would expect. This is awesome!
