Hey everyone,
I got a Redfly and it is pretty cool on most applications, even over bluetooth stuff runs good. The problem comes when I try to run Garmin XT or Tom Tom I get errors saying the program will not support the resolution, but Yahoo Maps works great. I guess I was surprised that the individual programs handle video res and not the OS. Anyone know how I can fix it ????
Cool, never heard of it until now.
The applications do detect the resolution so they can use the proper skin... The apps adjust and use the appropriate skin images for portrait and landscape.. also there are the square screen smart phones. On my dell Axim x50v I have trouble with some applications because they do not support VGA. So this is expected.
Did you search the knowledgebase on their site?
I would assume that the redfly would be capable of running in a magnified version of the native res for compatibility.. if not, you will have many applications that will have problems.
I got a chuckle out of this message on their site.
"Please read all the safety information in this guide before using the REDFLY to avoid injury."
There is no video capability. Program compatibility is hit or miss. No drivers for the Diamond yet.
Anyone know where in Garmin Mobile XT the video driver is ?
Maybe if I knew which file controlled that I could make it work ??
Hi, I picked one of these up the other day, really impressed (£100 in Hmv).
First, just incase people don't know this machine, out of the box (on Froyo) has a brilliant iplayer function, where if you use the Dolphin HD browser (desktop mode) on the iplayer website you can download shows directly (through wifi) to the machine so can watch on the go.
Not many portable devices allow this, but it's something I always look for (old Nokia phones, and the Galaxy tab (original) had it, I don't think that it's that we'll known a function, may help some folk.
Q... Okay now here's my question... Any uk users know whether I would lose this function if I updated to Gingerbread ?... I know the 2.3.6 is kind of official in Europe, but maybe if I use Odin to install it I may lose the iplayer function ? Maybe it might reject the license acquisition if I use a Eurpean update ?
I have never been into roms, rooting etc, but would like to try if I don't lose the iplayer.
Thanks
Probably not, I don't think there's any difference in the video player. Backup the stock video player using Titanium (once you have rooted) and then install whatever you want.

droidmote
I managed to root the device. But running droidmote is still an issue. I got the server up and running, but when using the client it just doent give a response. When starting the server using the huge button it sometimes doesnt run. Just when using the button several times it goes to status started.
Im using server 3.0.7 and client 3.4.4.
I read something about uinput. My device has the sys/modules/uinput folder. But it just has one file called version. So i think i probably miss you right uinput files. Can somebody help me to compile such a file?

you have uinput. you must only use the last version of the server and the last version of the client otherwise not work.
last server version at this date and time is 3.1.3
last version client at this date and time is 3.4.4
the protocol between the server and the client is changed for that reason you need the last versions.
If you buyed the server why not update ? only if you not buyed you can't update
Hi Zulu99,
Yes it works now, i updated to the latest version.
Which "mediacenter" application do you recommend with this device? I installed XBMC but its terrible slow. I also tried a combination of XBMC nightly build with MXplayer. Playing the videos works fine now. But i think the interface of the Nightly build isnt that great. I prefer the interface of the official XBMC.
I also buyed the full version of Archos player. This player plays everything fine, but the problem with Archos is that it keeps scanning my whole HDD for new media, and i just want to select an folder which should be scanned. Any idea how to fix this?
Or do you know a better solution?
Thx
The best solution would be using the android standard video player in combination with XBMC. Till now the only player which displayed Avatar SBS 3d flawless was the standard android player. All other players like, MOBO, BS player, MX player lagged alot.
Does anybody know how to disable the bottom banner of mx player during full screen. I read something about Gesture applications, but this is more for touch devices and this isnt the case for me.
I use XBMC with MX Player.
I love MX Player for another reason. In combination with DreamDroid, i receive the tv streaming from my satellite decoder DreamBox.
I see all tv channels in any room on my Tablet or on Minix Neo G4 attached via hdmi to any tv. and control it with DroidMote.
I like the zoom-in functions for the video in MX Player and is full compatible and controllable with DroidMote.
look this video, especially the last part:

Could you please write some short notes how you could achieve this.
I didn't get it working. Which driver did you use?

You can try flashing Finless ROM , it works great for me . It`s a rooted version , stock Android Icons and a lot of useful apps preinstaled .
You can find it on ArmTvTech, com
Hi!
Long time since I came here but for the last couple of days I have been playing around with my (old) ToucanHD stick from IconBit.
The thing runs android 4.0.4 and I have been trying to use it with a usb keyboard which kind of works but when I press the "E" key for an example it pops up the e-mail app, when I press "M" it open music and there are several other keys that have a mind of its own.
Also I've noticed the enter button isn't registered as enter.
I've tried using external keyboard helper (pro which I bought) and hoped it would solve my issues (like on my other android box) but the problems are still there.
Anybody have any idea where to look for a solution of this issue?
Okay little update,
the problem turned out to be the keyboard.
I took a wired general usb keyboard and reinstalled and configured the external keyboard helper app........all problems solved.
This Toucan HD stick is really usefull right now despite the fact that it's running an outdated android version.
so far I've managed to get youtube working quite nice and been watching some movies over WiFi on it today....things I couldn't do with the stock config.
I've switched launcher for Top TV Launcher 2 and installed an older version of ES File Explorer and MX Player and now I can use this thing.
Now all it needs is a nice radio streaming app with dutch radio stations and some nice emulators which work with USB gamepad, then this stick would have a second life
All stuff is done unrooted btw since I can't seem to find a working root method for this thing
