Kernel Problem - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

tried to unlock bootloader
FAILED EPICALLY
in process, got the Doom something kernel for CM7
now since i failed,
i cant use my phone
for any of the other roms
since the kernel is there
ex.
2.3.3 x10a flashes, but does not work properly cuz of the kernel
help
edit 1
flashed azuzu kernel
works ok now BUT NOW IT SAYS MY SIM CARD IS NOT THERE
this would be believable with all the crap it went through.
but... it works on my old not smart phone phone
a Sony Ericsson Walkman
edit 2
fixed after three days of error and trying
note to everyone
for cm7
follow the damn instructions.
please
you see, i am 14 and i think i dont need instructions.
well follow them closely
if you have to copy and paste it to word
and triple space
bold underline
and KEEP ALL FLASHING CRAP IN THE FIRMWARE FOLDER FOR ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FLASHTOOL that is running
i would make a video, but i am afraid that i wont be able to do it again

I have gone through this problem. just flash a 2.1 fw and unlock ur bootloader via onetouch program. Then via xrecovery flash a pre rooted 2.3 fw. And if you get ur baseband unavailable or no sim found on 2.3 rom just flash the 2.3 baseband via flashtool. then follow CM rom method. ur phone will be good to go.

sim lock = 3 UKi unlocked my bootloader using qsd8250_setool2
all went fine but after a while i noticed that my phone was unable to read my sim card
it was saying no sim card or insert a sim card
repaired to stock SE firmware using pc companion
still no sim card, no network
then again rooted my phone
unlocked my bootloader once again but used qsd8250_semc this time
got my network back
my phone is alive again

Not able to install any Rom

Having a few issues. Yesterday while using the twitter app, my Xperia X10 froze. I waited for like 5 minutes but it was still stuck so i took out the battery and put it back in. I restarted the phone and then my Wifi stopped working. After alot of reboots, wifi started to pick my wifi connection but then it would connect and give me limited connectivity. I did a few more reboots and then i think i went into xrecovery and by mistake recovered my phone to some earlier date which completely messed up my phone. Now i cant access my ROM i can only use xrecovery. If i try to load past the xrecovery, it shows the Sony Ericsson screen and then it goes blank, The notification light shows a white signal and then it restarts.. Then again it shows the SE Screen and again the white notification light and again restart.. this keeps on happening.
Anyway i decided it was time to install a new rom and it would solve my problems.. I put my phone in Xrecovery and tried to mount the SDcard but the memory card just wont show up on my computer for some reason..
Anyway then i took a card reader and put the roms on the root of my card and then put my card back into my phone.. After that i tried to install the custom zip but it gives me the error E: Cant mount /sdcard (device or resource busy)
WTF?
Can someone help me im clueless !!!
Okey i flashed the 2.1 Rom now.. Do i need to root my phone again? Do i need to install xrecovery again? :S
Hi if you flashed the stock 2.1 ROM then yes you will have to root the phone again and install xrecovery. I reckon you should update to 2.3.3 first using either flashtool, PC companion or SEUS which ever you prefer. Then root using flashtool 0.4.2 and install xrecovery using flashtool as well. Good luck hope this helps.
What rom do you use when phone froze? And why you flash first 2,1 rom? You must first flash 2.3, then root, install xrecovery, (unlock bootloaders if you want) and thats all
I was using 2.3.3 Wolfbreak i think ! Not sure.. Updated a 2-3 months back.
I flashed 2.1 because i read somewhere thats what people did when they got the mount sdcard problem in xrecovery.
Sorry if i sound like a noob but whats a bootloader and why would i unlock it?
Anyway im downloading 2.3.3 first and will then install xrecovery. I want to install one of the MIUI ROM's.. Which one should i install? Which one is the most stable and has the most features?
Unlocked bootloaders just allows change boot logo I think) And for miui I'd suggest oddie or a1exander roms, they are stable and everthing work
Sorry for bad english
Thanks !!!
Installing 2.3.3 right now. Will let you guys know if there's any problem.. Thanks again
Before you install xrecovery don't forget to root first I would use flashtool 0.4.2 for this check out the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746 The bootloader as i understand it is basically the very start of the bootup loads the kernel then the ROM loads. The white Sony Ericsson logo when you fist power on the phone is generated by the bootloader. A couple of reasons to unlock the bootloader are to load custom kernels faster an they are more stable this way instead of the bootloader bypass method. Some ROM's e.g Cyanogenmod need an unlocked bootloader I believe. BEWARE I heard of people bricking there phone during the unlock process i would do plenty of research before unlocking. I would have a read of these threads before unlocking your bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254087 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253277&highlight=unlock+bootloader+proper+method . I still have not been game enough to unlock my bootloader yet phone still under warranty thought. Good luck nothing wrong with being a noob we all start some where I am a noob too just with lots of reading and experimentation behind me.
Thanks !
Okey well im going for this:
1. Flash 2.3.3 Rom using flashtool
2. Install xrecovery using flash tool
3. Install Alexander's miui by using custom zip in xrecovery (right?)
That should be it? Do i really need to unlock boot loader? Dont really want to mess anything up
Firts root and then install xrecovery Don't install Alexander miui version 11, wait tomorow. 11v have many bugs:/ Don't afraid nulock bootloaders, just read instructions, not rush and everything be okay
Forry for bad english.
2.3.3 installed.
Trying to root it, But flashtool's root button is greyed out ?
Installl drivers from flashtool folder?
Done but still greyed out.. Also enabled USB debugging and unknown applications in the phone
Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196808 read instructions and be happy You must first install kernel I think:/
How do i install kernel ?
You don't need to install a kernel yet you have the stock kernel installed already from the 2.3.3 install. Have you put the phone in flash mode before you try and root it. If not put it in flash mode then try and root. Note the op posted is using the old version of flashtool so it will look a bit different.
In that post all write just read You know how put phone in flash mode?
Nope.. The root option in flashtool is just greyed out no matter if im in flash mode or not.
My kernel is 2.6.29-00054-g5f01537 [email protected] #1
Android: 2.3.3
Baseband: 2.1.71
Buildnumber: 3.0.1.G.0.75
I hope i flashed the correct 2.3.3 rom? I had a 2.3.3 rom by the name of x10_2.3_aro.ftf I flashed that.
Don't understand. Just follow intructions in my link. No matter that flashtool version old, it makes their job.
Sorry for bad english.
OK I think you need to go back to basics download Sony PC companion and update or repair your firmware from there that way you know you had the right version of firmware for your phone. Firmware can be carrier dependant. Once this is done then try to root using flashtool

[Q] No service after Flash ROM

Hello,
I flashed the most recent MiniCM9-3.0.2 ROM with nAa ICS kernel and followed all steps carefully. Everything works except i get no service. I can find the service network (vodafone) but i cannot connect to it. I've tried to go back to stock kernel and miniCMPro 21 and i get no service as well. Any help?
Thanks
nvm... I figured it was a bootloader-issue, but i guess since you can still find the network your gsm is still working.
In any case, you're on stock rom, try relocking your bootloader and see if you can connect to the network then (Restore-button in S1-Tool)
Hi,
I'll try to restore and see if it works.
Thanks for the help.
Hi,
I restored and reinstalled CM9 and now everything is working! Thanks
i am in exactly the same boat, just flashed same rom and same kernal and now no service, i also was under the impression if i unlocked the bootloader it unlocked phone to all networks but my virgin sim would not work either, the phone was originally on orange and my orange sim worked before i done this, what do i need to do guys just flash back stock rom, if so where can i find this, thanks!
You need to use PC Companion or SEUS from Sony Ericsson to repair your phone, and then relock your bootloader with the Restore-button in S1Tool.
There is a big difference between sim-unlocking your phone, and boot-unlocking your phone.
The first one will allow you to go on other networks, the second one will allow you to flash a custom kernel.
If you want to unlock your bootloader, follow the tutorial and make sure your simlock-certificate is compatible, otherwise, obtain an EMMA/IMEI code from your provider to get your phone on other networks. In that case you can unlock your bootloader too.
There are plenty of warnings in the bootloader-unlock tutorial to prevent you from bricking your phone, if you don't understand the options that are there, don't mess with your phone.
iv tried using the repair function of pc companion but it just says no updates available for this phone, and i cant seem to find SEUS can anyone point me in the right direction please.
think i made a mistake last night though while messing, i locked the bootloader back up, had the capital R where needed, but i had a custom rom but i had flashed back the stock kernel by mistake, now the phone sits with sony ericsson on screen and doesnt do anything else, been that way for hours now, any help really appreciated!
Hi
I had the same problem. The easy way is to put the phone back to stck and start all over again. You can find SEUS here (search on google)
update_service_setup-2.11.4.11.exe
After install it just follow the instructions. When it says no update was found just click next anyway. it will restore the phone. And then start from that point:
unlock bootloader, flash kernel and install new Rom imediatly after flash kernel. DONT LET YOU PHONE START WIHT OTHER ROM OTHERWISE IT WILL GET THE SMA PROBLEM! Put the ROM file in the SD card and after install new kernel go imediatley to CWM and install the ROM.
It should work!
cheers mate iv just downloaded it and run it, this is all that happens once i restart in flashmode, any ideas
Go to the Development section for your phone in this forum and try to find a ROM that is based on the stock rom (I think you should still be able to nstall xRecovery on your phone and enter it), then flash it just like you would other custom roms.
how can i go about installing xrecovery mate as i cant access phone the way it is, i can get it into flashmode, using the power and home button then using back quickly after i restart, iv tried flashing a custom kernel back onto it too from flashtool but it gives an error and doesnt do anything, if only i could get that kernel back on at least just to get it out of the freezing!
Open flashtool and connect your turned-on phone through usb, if it says phone connected with usb-debugging, you can use flashtool to install xrecovery and reboot into that.

Flash only simlock.ta

anybody knows how to flash only simlock.ta?
Mine flash tool is 0.8.6.0 ver and it always ignore the file.
I want to flash only this file. Is there any other way?
any idea!!!! any help!!!
If you have unlocked your bootloader, you need to relock it before you can re-simlock IIRC.
Mine is locked bootloader. Now I want to flash with simlock.ta. Flash tool always skip the file. Why? Is there any other way?
But what is IIRC?
also tried with flashtool ver 0.9
But no luck!!!!
Any help???
Why are you so particular about flashing this file? Do you know what is this file and what it does?
Just don't mess around with that file.
Your question is answered by Blagus on GSM Cure,
Simlock data is checksumed, and even if you manage to edit file and write it to the phone, it probably won't boot because of checksum mismatch. So you'll have to find a way to bypass security (loader) and make the phone to accept new security zone. And if this was possible then every tool would be able to unlock it standalone (without EMMA).
And only tool that has X10 mini unlock solution is SEtool but unlock is not available for public

Sorry to ask but I just wanted to be clear on something - my Xperia (Ray) refuses to read my SIM card. In fact, it doesn't even ask me for my PIN number, it just boots as normal but I have no connection to any network. I've tried using the SIM card in another phone and it works fine, therefore the problem is with the phone itself.
I'd recently had my phone network & bootloader unlocked by wotanserver using the test point method - because of this I thought the DRM keys would be fine (e.g. TrackId & Timescape still worked). However, when I was updating from GB .42 to .62 OTA (to flash a GB ROM) my phone bricked! So, I ended up using s1tool to restore the locked bootloader. Then I used flashtool to flash a stock ICS ftf file. It seemed to work (the phone rebooted) but it was then I noticed that the SIM card wasn't being recognised. Also, in the Flashtool log I noticed that a blue line was there saying 'this file is ignored simlock.ta'.
Hard resets & updating with Sony Update Service isn't working and there's just so much conflicting info out there that I'm really confused at this stage.
Can anyone help me or is my phone screwed for good?

It's rare for any SE phone to be screwed for good... maybe try flashing a stock GB rom, and get back to how your phone was previously? Do any other SIM cards work in the phone? Check service menu (*#*#7378483#*#* from phone keypad) and check SIM or network locks to make sure nothing is wrong there? Check and clean the contacts in the SIM card slot? Unlock the bootloader again, and flash a custom ROM? Just don't try any more over-the-air updates with unlocked bootloader - this bricks many phones! Good luck!

Need to unlocked the phone

Hello guys.
My friend have a xperia x10i and he set a password on his phone (im mean the thing to unlock your phone , not pin or other thing but the thing u draw , i have no idea how its called but i think u know what i mean), now he forgot the thing and his unable to unlock the phone and use it.
He also cant change the password because he doesnt have any e-mail account added to the phone.
Now , is there any option to unlock his phone ? , if yes how ?
If not should we flash the rom using flashtool ? But he has original rom from se , i think its 2.1 or 2.3 im not sure. He also doesnt have any recovery and custom kernel or unlocked bootloader. So Im a able to flash the phone using flashtool if he has locked bootloader or we can fix it by PC Companion ?
If im able to flash the phone can any one give me a basic rom for the x10i ?
Thanks.
Use SEUS(Sony Ericsson Update Service) to flash stock (official) rom 2.3.3. But be aware, that flashing will erase everything from your phone, but SD card will be untouched. You can download SEUS from Sony site. After you finish with flashing stock rom, you can do whatever you want (root, unlock bootloader, flash custom kernel and rom...)

Locked Bootloader on Xperia S 2.3.4 ROM

Hi all,
My phone has been working fine a few weeks ago. However, recently when I decided to give my nephew my Xperia X10a. With Xperia S port ROM, for some reason it does not recognize his SIM Card and my SIM card. We're on T-mobile network.
In any case, I read that if I go back to stock rom then go forward again then it would fix the the problem.
I have tried going back using Sony PC Companion but it keeps on saying that there is no update available for my firmware.
In the mid of hoping to downgrade and the frustration of not able to download those Stock ROMs (Keeps on getting forward to lnx.lu) , I accidentally flashed "BLReLock".
Now, I can't access to Xrecovery nor Flashing any other ROMs using FlashTool.

I tried to unlock the bootloader again but every single document says that I have to be on android 2.2 or 2.3
Here is some info about the phone.
Model number: X10S
Android version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: 2.1.71
Kernel version: 2.6.29-00054-g5f01537 [email protected] #1
Build number Champ-Tof37-Wo88les-X10-s-V9
Any advice on how to unlock the bootloader and get back to Xrecovery so I can flash Stock ROM would be great.
Thank you for any expert advices that can give. I am pulling whatever left of my hairs at the moment.
- Never mind, I was able to installed "X10_2.3_Gingerbrea_aro".
- I guess I am in a better situation than before. However, my phone still doesn't recognized the SIM Card for some reason.
