Need to Boot into Recovery - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I messed up on something and I need to boot into the HBoot Menu which I can do, the only problem is, I have a PG05IMG Radio on there, so I can't do anything with it. Is getting an adapter for my MicroSD to put in my PC and delete from there the only option?

Why not adb reboot recovery then mount the sdcard and delete it?

Another option. Use someone else phone to delete the file off the sdcard.

Or a card reader and delete it with your computer. That's the easiest way. I've been there myself. Lol

yeah i got that. now did you try to repartition it?
edit: and get recovery.log after you tried to mount it, so we can see the error.
what to repartition?

You've just been given some advice to try, I would suggest you try it, regardless of how many cards you've tried. Maybe it'll help, maybe it wont, at least you will be able to report back if it has or hasn't and move on from there.
Florida.
That happened to me, I ended up putting the card in my laptop and formatting it that way. Works now.
so i did it and it did not work...
:S
seriously, if you want help you need play along. you did what, and how and why didn't it work. and attach your recovery.log, there is more detail about errors than you get on your display.
i have the modaco 3.1 rom and the RA-hero-v1.5.3 recovery. i dont know which radio i had before i flashed the 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26. because modaco didnt boot, i flashed the 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29 radio and modaco boots normally but now when i enter the sdcard it doesnt show it. where can i find the recovery.log?
no idea what you mean by "enter the sdcard"...
the log is in /tmp/recovery.log, there is a menu entry to copy it to the sdcard, since yours doesn't work you need to pull it via adb
Code:
adb pull /tmp/recovery.log .
sry i mean when i put in the sd

i dont know what that means...
and my pc dont recognize my hero therefor i cant pull it via adb
can i write the adb command via a downloadable terminal from market?
ok, last try:
1. do not take out the sdcard while the phone is powered on IF you are using apps2sd. it doesn't work. if you need to take it out power down the phone.
2. put in the card while phone is off, boot into recovery (home+power)
3. partition the card as you like. if it fails you need to set up adb, there is no way to find out why it fails without adb.
4. if it works reboot. if there is any problem go back to recovery, go through the first 3 wipe options (this will wipe all your data), then reboot.
you can also try to partition the card on a pc.

Ph98img?

I can not load into hboot, when I do, it reads the sd card and then asks me if I want to update. ph98img is on my sd card and if I am not mistaking that is whats causing the update? What do I do to be able to boot into hboot? Can I just change the name of that file, or do I even need that file? I am not running ics, have cwm recovery, and ziggys kernel running at 1.86.
Any info is greatly appreciated (I am not tech savvy at all)
Thanks

I ran into this as well a week or so ago. I pulled my sd card out and put it into my Incredible and deleted the ph98img file. I then put the sd back into my Rezound and then you can once again boot into hboot.

This.
Also, if you don't have another device to put the device in, you can just take the sdcard, put what you were gonna flash on internal storage, then flash that way. Once your phone is functional you can then put the sdcard in and delete the file.
Or... You could just "adb reboot recovery" and turn on mount SD Card.

Thanks for the answers. I just deleted it off my sd card, will it change how things are running or hurt something, I saved it to my desktop in case I fouled something up. It will now let me into hboot though.

You don't need it on the sdcard at all after it updates. It's fine to keep it off. It won't mess anything up.
EDIT: Make sure you hit the thanks button on the posts above you for helping!! I don't need the thanks for this little post, but it's good to show those guys that you appreciate the help!

Cannot delete PH98IMG

Ok, I got my refurb phone, unlocked and now I am trying to unstall amon ra. I put it on the root of my sd card, get into Hboot, the green writing scrolls up, and thats it. There is no option to update it.
I thought maybe I should try again, I can't delete the PH file from my sd card....there is no option. odd.
Do I out the .zip after PH98IMG? or leave it without .zip? Maybe thats my problem. But right now, I can't even get the file off the sd card to try again.
Any help would be great!
Thanks
EDIT.....Im an idiot! I was using a card adapter and the lock was on!
EDIT 2.....PH98IMG worked fine

[Q] Bootloop after Wipe ALL Data System Restore - HELP!

I was in the process of upgrading my Rezound from Scott's GB CleanRom to the ICS version, and accidentally downloaded the files to my internal card instead of the external sdcard. I didn't realize this before I rebooted into recovery selected "Wipe ALL data/factory reset." Because I'm dumb, I didn't do a Nandroid backup before doing this. Now when I try to reboot to get the files in the right place, I'm stuck in a boot loop.
I tried pushing the files from my computer to sd card via adb, but despite it appearing to work, the files never show up.
Is there anything I can do to get it to boot up once without doing a manual reinstall of everything through adb? Any other ideas? Would really appreciate the help, and sorry if this is answered elsewhere, I really did look around.
Use a card reader to put the files on from your PC. They should be in the right place then.

Oh well I was thinking maybe you could move the files around to the correct place through your computer.

This. Just use the computer as an intermediary to drag from internal sd to computer to regular sd or just mount your sd card and re download. No need for adb commands; drag and drop should work sufficiently

USB Bricked

So today I went into the bootloader (By accident, meant to tap reboot into recovery) I pressed the down button one too many times and I deleted storage. Afterwards I went into recovery (4ext 1.0.0.5 RC7) and after an attempt to flash CM10. I receive the error message "Can't mount Internal SD card." The external SD card works just fine. I'm hoping I can get this fixed and after I do you can probably expect another thread for some other problem

use 4ext to format the internals storage, then leave recovery, go back into it and attempt to reflash.

Where exactly would one go to do this. In the format/ wipe menu there is no such option

Keep trying. I had the sane thing happen, and was eventually able to get it to see up in windows and format it. I wish I knew the steps I took, but I don't.

As an added note, everytime i make the phone a usb mass storage it unmounts the sd card
I think something similar happened to me where it didn't mount the internal SD no matter what.
I trie dformating it, partition it, nothing worked.
I fklashed stock RUU (that did it) and started from the beginning.
So try putting stock ruu in ext SD rename it PH85img and let bootloader update it.

yes flashing back to stock may help fix the corrupt file system.. then again there's a super wipe script posted somewhere... (not the one from android hd.. krook6023* posted it) if you look in the q&a about 2-4 pages back you might be able to download that and flash it... it also re-partitions the phone and fixes any errors in the file system..

That seems like a nice tool to have I'll look for it and store it in my PC
I found out that the solution was to simply format it on windows. Thanks to everyone that contributed
