Anyone figure out how to move files to and from sdcards without computer?
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using xda premium
I do it all the time using explorer by speed software. Root explorer works too. Both on the market. Just cut and paste. There's a move option too. Did it two minutes ago.

That works thanx. I used explorer by speed software but the other did not work to move zip from internal sdcard to ext sdcard and was very slow while doing so. I had tried many others and they would hang or crash.

Had a similar issue. Previously, using Astro File Manager, it would work if you copy and paste, but for some reason it would not move outright. So I would just copy, then delete the original file.
Newer version of Astro seems to be able to move okay.
Nice thanx. Astro was killing me, its funny a simple move is not so simple but copy then paste and delete old works. Something about the temp file in move func. Recognizes same system, but at least I'm able to work around it.

I have searched through the forums and am not coming up with much. I just followed globatron's guide on installing honeycomb on my flyer and everything appears to be working fine. However when i go into either the music or the gallery app, it is not showing any of the music or photos from my SD card. Ive also tried flashing flyhoney v1.0 and am still getting the same problem.
When i run Astro or ES File Explorer, i am able to find the music and play from there just fine, it just never shows up in the lists inside each app.
Has anyone else come across this issue? If so what was the fix for this?
Don't think its a HC issue. I can't see my music on SD card with GB either, or am I just stupid?

Not sure, everything was working fine. Rooted and ran stock for a bit with no issues. then after updating to honeycomb is where i ran into this issue.
Im currently going through the process of reverting back to complete unrooted stock to see if that clears it up, then i may try again. In the meantime it would be great if there is a good solution to this.
kinda remember there is a folder scan stuff shall be changed in the apk
but i forgot rest of the story
I remember that I had the problem when I first installed HC with Gloatrons guide, Power Amps folder scan would not return any music files... I un-installed Power Amp, re-installed and all was fine.... also weird is on my Desire S running lastest MIUI rom when I upload a foto to Facebook it disappears in the Pic folder under albums... but still is there as a thumbnail using Root Explorer... just a weird thing, I guess!

Try going into settings and unmounting your external then remount . let disk scan. If it is still not showing then use a file explorer app and navigate to a picture and select. Once

Tried that and am able to see all photos in file explorer (both ES and Astro), still nothing in the gallery app. Same thing happens with the music app. I thought it may be something with the stock apps, but the google music app doesnt see the music either.
Been letting the tablet sit at the "searching for music. please wait..." message for quite some time and nothing seems to happen. Does anyone know if maybe there is a music storage database somewhere that may just need to be cleared?
After reverting back to GB it works, so i thought i would try going to HC again today. followed the guides exactly. even did a clean wipe both before and after flashing. Still the same issue.
I know my ext sd has occasionally unmounted itself on honeycomb.

Greetings!
Wondering if anyone knows of any sources for the stock Google apps for Honeycomb 3.2.
I installed HC (per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358758 -- and am also going to try this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1393904 )
I've been looking forward to HC, and am glad I finally bit the bullet, rooted, and installed it. But I'm still left wanting the stock, un-Sense'd experience.
The gmail app from HTC seems largely untouched. Unfortunately, that's not the case for calendar & contacts. Anyone know where I can get those apk's? (And if it's as simple as getting a hold of those and/or flashing them from CWM?)
I looked around on Google, but didn't find a good candidate to use (admittedly, I'm new to this, and am not sure what should work and what to avoid.)
Thanks, folks!
Jeff
Find a device that runs a asop or or close asop version of honeycomb and dl a Rom and pull the apk. Worth a shot

Attached are the Google Calendar (incl. widget), Google Desk Clock (incl. widget) and Gallery apk. I copied them from this ROM, but got them working on a HC Sense ROM now.
push to /system/app and reboot.
Unfortunately I don't have the Google Contacts apk
I can't seem to install it?

If you're talking about those 3 apks, you have to put them in /system/app

Found Contacts in the SDK, works on HC Flyer too
push to /system/app

Did you do a reboot? I used adb push command, you might want to try that...

You can type "adb remount" instead of using a file explorer. I find that more convenient lol

I was able to get everything to work with root explorer except for the calendar app which is the one I want the most. Has anyone else has any luch getting the calendar installed?

Does your system/app contain the CalendarProvider.apk? It should be there in order to let the CalendarGoogle.apk work. Otherwise install aLogcat to find any exceptions...
OK, finally got the calendar working just by using Root Explorer. The trick was to put the calendar apk in the system folder and change the permissions there before moving it to the app folder. Works like a charm.
The Calendar sizing is a bit off, but I can live with it since I mainly wanted it for the widget.
HJ200 - Thanks for the Contacts.apk
Sorry I'm just now getting back to you. I knew I wanted to flash another ROM, and was waiting till I did to try this. Anyway, today I flashed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421074
And then tried the Contacts.apk. I am not familiar with adb, so tried with Root Explorer. With Root Explorer in R/W mode, I put the apk in System, changed the permissions to rw-r-r, moved it to the app folder, and rebooted. The apk is definitely there, but it is not found in the app drawer. Suggestions? (Also, I am not familiar with adb, so was trying to do it without that...)
Thanks!
Jeff
Anybody able to walk me through how to get the Contacts app working w/o using ADB?
My post above lists what I've tried. I've looked around and have not found helpful suggestions.
Thanks!
Jeff
You wont be able to get the contacts apk to work because it relies on the stock HC framework :/

Aw, stink. Ok, thanks, Gumby.
i've googled and i can't find it anywhere
i'm on the stock HC view rom and i really like the original honeycomb
browser.
can someone point me in the right direction.
i'm assuming i could just install the apk and it'll work
This works for me on my flyer

You need to either push to system apps with adb or use file explorer with root capability.
If using root explorer, copy then paste in system/app
Set permissions to match other system apps
xxo
xoo
xoo
Then go to data/data/com.browser/databases
Delete all files with browser2 (see attached picture)
Reboot

i tried the root explorer method but it didn't work
did exactly what you said and it force closed and browser isn't even there anymore
did i do something wrong? i do have root
when i try the adb method, it keeps saying device not found
when i try adb remount rw, it says operation not permitted
kind of a noob at adb, only use it when rooting devices
need to know which commands to use
No that is what worked for me. Do you have a Rom for your device. I would presume your browser apk is the same as mine on the flyer. If you do not have the HTC browser let me know and I will extract and post for you
Try again though. Just tried it myself as I had HTC browser atm and downloaded apk from link I posted, did exact steps listed, and now I have stock hc browser

Here is HTC browser. Follow same steps to get this back. But those steps should work on first browser I posted, just installed using that method less then 5 minutes

yes, right after copy and pasting
used the HTC Browser and followed your instructions and rebooted worked perfectly
then tried again because i really want the other browser, didn't work, keeps force closing
thanks again for all your help, i'll try a few more times in the morning
otherwise i can just use dolphin
THANKYOU!
Not sure why it is not working for you. Last ditch thought is to get into recovery after install and fix permissions there.

I just flashed Westfire ROM 3.0 and the media files on my ext-sd are not being detected.
\sdcard\ext_sd\Music\song.m4a etc.
Or
\sdcard\ext_sd\DCIM\100MEDIA\ etc.
I can see everything in Root Explorer but neither Music, Google Music, or Gallery see the appropriate files.
Any clues for me?

Another option you might try is to use ES File Explorer or a similar program. Go to the folders where your pictures and the music are, and create into this folder a new one. Don't put any files in this folder! Just rename the created folder in .nomedia and reboot with fastbootmode ( in the energy settings) disabled.
I had similar problems once with an Archos 70 Internettablet, and this was the solution that worked for me.....

There's some mysterious bug regarding how the media scanner is triggered in some of the ROMs, I think... if you keep telling media scanner to run again and again, eventually it twigs that there's music.
i've never had this problem...until i read this thread...and then a day later it happened to me too
WHAT ARE THE CHANCES??
Pictures but no music - Evo View
I have an Evo View. I have about 3GB of MP3s on my sdcard. I've been unable to update my music library. I've tried creating a .nomedia folder in the folder where my music files are. I rebooted with fastboot disabled. But my library is still empty. If anyone has any other ideas, please share.

I believe the .nomedia file/folder tells android to exclude the folder from media players. So I'd delete this.
Then I'd unmount the sd card, and mount it again.
Go to file explorer, find your media and click a song to play. It should play fine.
On the mount it should recognize your media in the default music player. I just tried it and worked on my gingerbread rom. You might have to do a restart to get it recognized. But on HC or GB, this worked for me.
There's an app called rescan media on the market that you can run instead of restarting. Just run it after you mount the sd card.
I use poweramp to play my music and it finds my sdcard fine. It has different equalizers setup and sounds great. Plus you can choose where you media files are located. This makes it easy to setup your music files on the external sd card. But that costs a few bucks.

Maybe.
The problem is an incorrect link in the filesystem. Instead of link to a file, it link to another link.
The problematic file is sqlite3 in directory /system/xbin. You must find somewhere this file and replace the link.
I downloaded a couple of third party skins to my phone and they aren't showing up in my skins. I guess they weren't made for my unrooted phone. I tried to find them in a astro file manager. But can't find them. I'm not real good with digging around in my phones brain. Please help

Create a Skins folder in astro and move the skins there once they are there press one and it should ask you if you want to install once installed it should show up in the settings/personalize/skins
Thanks for your help. I actually found the skins in my downloaded folder in astro but in sd card 2 what ever the hell means. I started a new folder labeled "skins" and put the good ones in there and deleted the bad ones.
