Most tablets 10.1 are on Honeycomb 3.2 When does samsung expect to get 3.2?
Another thread whining about 3.2. Please stop. Nobody knows when/if there will be an upgrade.
Kind of a harsh response although I understand the frustration over the frequent 3.2 questions.
At least it's my opinion that a rooted 3.1 rom is more than adequate for anyone's needs until ICS gets released either by an AOSP build or official release. I think I saw Task post about trying to port a 3.2 build again so maybe you'll get your wish by years end. Think of it as a Christmas present if we get 3.2 or ICS.
It's coming...

Put In Paris rom on your device and enjoy using it. Stop worrying about *needing* the latest incremental update
Who cares about 3.2, I want ICS.
Is it really mandatory? I think I will be more happy if Samsung skips 3.2 and focuses all the energy on 4.0.
Yes most tablet now on the 3.2 and Samsung update really can't be matched..
ICS won't be available until after December or January at the earliest for galaxy tabs, wouldn't mind playing around with 3.2 for a month or two until ICS.

i think samsung and we ppl shud go thru the 3.2 update before we go to 4.0.1 or something like that.....
i read somewhere that we ll be getting touchwiz 5.0 along with 4.0 ICS
someone familiar with this???

Didn't Google announce at Google I/O, where they gave out free Tabs to everyone, that they expected all mufacturers to support the current release of Android plus two subsequent releases of Android on all devices manufactured?
Between their new iterations of TouchWiz and quicker updates, I actually have gained some confidence in Samsung. I'm pretty confident they'll update at least a few more versions

Then where the hell is 3.2?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Just my $.02 but I'd rather Samsung work on update process for 4.0 rather than 3.2. There is alot more gold in the pot with 4.0 vs 3.2. Most of 3.2 is focused on smaller screen devices from what I have read time and again. So the bang for the wait time is ice cream sandwich. Maybe 3.2 is low hanging fruit, but if it means adding 2 months to ICS, I'd say bring on ICS.
Just my two cents. But I have read we will see ICS on the 2nd generation SGT lines.

Officially, maybe. But with access to this forum we will FOR SURE see ICS on our tabs. No doubt about it. It will also work better than anything Samsung will release.

There are a fair few good deals on the S2 now that the Nexus is out with Android ICS, but how good is the ICS port over to the S2? Any bugs or flaws?
I am contemplating getting this phone for my girlfriend who isn't very tech savvy hence ICS would need to work flawlessly on the device .
Ics is not ready yet for this device there only at the alpha stage try again in 4months for a stable one or use the ics theme from the market

Samsung has said "official" ICS firmware for SGS2 will be released "some time in Q1 2012". So far as other roms go, you should start seeing ICS ports over the next few weeks.
So far as functionality goes, I'd be surprised if these don't go thru the normal "teething problems" roms & kernels tend to go thru, and given your girlfriend isn't "tech savvy" and the device would need to work "flawlessly", I'd recommend you wait until Samsung releases official firmware rather than use a custom ICS port.
Unless you want to spend a lot of time playing tech support ?

If it's a phone for your non-tech girl I would not worry about Gingerbread or ICS, I would worry about Touchwiz, Sense or whatever skin is out there and select your phone accordingly.
Getting into buggy beta ICS or non compatible apps or widgets that act weird is the killer, it just has to work and look nice. Gingerbread is good for that.

No one will be able to answer this with any certainty, as it depends on what lot the phone was manufactured in and gotten ready for sale. If it came to the retailer with GB preinstalled, it will get sold with GB installed. If it came with ICS preinstalled, it will get sold with ICS installed.
It's not like retailers open up boxes they already have and upgrade the handset to ICS.
Are there any phones being sold at the moment with anything less than ics?

I was on the phone with Samsung Tech Support, and they were upset to realize I was the crazy irate mad customer who spent the day finding EVERY single ICS update article and new Tab 2 articles and commenting that Samsung could Go to hell! I purchased the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 (wifi) p7510 with a Samsung salesperson on the phone saying ICS was a week a way... Then marketing and advertising and launch of Tab 2, and ICS on hold for customers like me made me wanna find that saleperson and hit him in the head with a giant slab of meat! JERKIES!
ANYHOW! I rooted mine. NOW - I want nothing more than to install ICS (ROM) preview (KANG)? RIGHT THIS VERY MOMENT to be justified!
QUESTION: can someone please direct me to the most RECENT - stable ICS preview link (cynmod9) install??? and final question: Is the Camera working yet???
PRETTY FRIGGIN PLEASE?!!!!
or recommend what to do for the best ROM or ICS install??
~~##RAPTORZE##~~
there are nightly builds in the Development area of this forum that are pretty good.
NONE have the camera working and that wont come anytime soon as drivers need to be leaked/released to make it work.
i used the KANG roms for a while but flashed back to stock recently because the battery performance was not good.
that being said its really easy to back up and flash between stock root and CM9 KANG builds
Questions go in the Q&A section

No wonder even Google refuses to open source honeycomb and asked oems and customers to move onto ICS.

Agree. There's already a thousand threads about what's new with ICS (and OPs that didn't do their own research).
So here's my addition:
ICS will not get you laid.
ICS will not cool you off on a hot day.
I'm waiting ICS beacause it will bring native support to VPN connections with Group Authentication, that now is impossible to use with Honeycomb..

Well, to be honest, I haven't found any major, or noticeable, bugs on stock. Could you tell me some you have run into?
And no major fc issues either. Some of the apps indeed force close, but that is an app issue and is usually rectified with an update from play. No hc blame there.
Of course every new android version is (supposedly) better than the previous. Gingerbread was way better from froyo, it had more features, but the lack of those features in froyo doesn't make it buggy. Hope you understand what I mean.

don't get me wrong. I brought a galaxy tab 10.1 on the day it was released in nyc, and am presently a happy owner of a tab 8.9
Just HC had a lot of bugs and fcs in its initial release, though the most current Touchwiz based on HC 3.2 is definately more stable. But of course, by now, I've blissfully moved on to aokp ICS custom rom, and naturally feel no urge to return to HC. I m sure when you upgrade to ICS after sammy releases the official version this month, you'll not want to return either.

Only cuz its a way better OS.. Best Google's work so far and it's really awesome.. Now if you want to stay with hc no1 is forcing you to do so..
It's just a dumb question IMHO.. If you have a 4 cylinders engine Chevy and out of nowhere Chevy calls you and tells to you that they want to replace your old engine for a brand new 8 cylinders engine FOR FREE, will you stay with the old 4 cylinders (that works ok but some times need oil) or will you be HAPPY and go get your new engine??
Again it's up to you to stay with your old engine or go get the new 1.. But consider yourself a dork If you don't change because you are okay with the old.

Any thoughts about the new Android 4.2 release from Google?
Supposedly rumours are saying that it is faster/quicker than 4.1, and of course it has the different new functions like the notification bar changes and multiple users. For me the most interesting part is if it is (or feels) faster than 4.1. No mistaken though, 4.1 feels fast on my TFP, but faster is always welcome!
Hopefully Asus will throw themselves over this one and get to work quickly, considering that this time the changes are not so huge, hopefully it won't take as much time as with 4.1.. even though 4.1 from Asus was probably some of the fastest updates in the Android-industry, which I am eternally thankful for, since JB seems to have fixed all my problems with the device (still have the browser lock-ups, but only seen it 2 times since the update.. which is nothing compared to 30 times a day before).
I was just thinking, that since there still was no thread about 4.2 here in the TFP forum, I figured that it would be a nice welcome to our discussions, and I am certain that Asus will give it to us as soon as they are able to get hands on with the code from Google! Considering the device is not even a year old.

your right it will take them ages to update seeing as we have only just got 4.1.
hopefully the drivers and code will be very similar to 4.1 so we might see a CM build soon.. didnt take long for CM build of JB after release as a lot of the code was similar to ICS. it was the jump from GB to ICS that was the bad one!
time iwll tell

I got my Prime back in May, and there was already an ICS update for it. We just got our Jelly Bean update not too long ago. We might even see the 4.2 update by 2013. I am excited for the multi-user capability. That would give us something the iPad users don't have.

Yes, you are correct I am just hoping for a nice discussion about the new things that was announced in the update from Google I am by no means trying to bug Asus about the update, as I believe it will come when they are ready for it, be it a month or 4 months.
I am mostly looking forward to even more speed and snappiness (even though JB did miracles for me), and I am also looking forward to the changes to Google Now + the ones done to the notification bar. For me the pad is only used by me, so multiple users is not of any interest to me.. as I look at the tablet as I do my phone.. but I still find it a useful addition, as I believe many others.. for example families that share a pad, will find it very useful!
I'm not asking either I'm just hoping for an update and expressing that hope in this thread. Let's hope we get it! I like my tablet as it is but software support in this fast moving android world is important, if Asus continues to update their tablet to the latest and greatest android for as long as the hardware can decently run it, I'm probably buying Asus again just for this. I don't mind their little **** up with the wifi and the memory (for me it's all sufficiently working).
Give that Google is callign it an update to JB, I am hopeful that those devices already running JB can get it pushed out to them fairly quickly.
In the long run google would like to see less fragmentation and a more cohesive Android echosphere. So if we do a holding pattern around JB, with upgrades and added features, for another year or two, I can imagine that those on 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 and of course 4.0 will upgrade to new devices running 4.1, 4.2 or 4.3... all JB.
I think 4.2 is terrible. I don't want a blown up phone UI on a tablet! Tablets should have specifically tuned ui's like they do now.

You can't if you already are on Jelly Bean (> 4.1) and hadn't rooted your device on ICS. At least if you have a locked device. If you unlock you will lose the ability to update your device OTA.
