Is there a functioning version of CWM which handles both Amend & Edify scripting and is capable of making and restoring nandroid backups?

yes cwm 2.5.1.x red recovery supports both. Its one of the best recoveries for TW imo. You can find it in my guide or the op of pwgb.

Kernel backup

In clockwork recovery if I make a nandroid backup does that backup the stock kernel too. Also I have hardware lock fix installed will that be gone after I flash a custom rom like bionix thanks for the help

I don't think it backs up the kernel, if you flash a rom with a different kernel and you want to go back to stock you either need to use odin or flash the stock kernel. Search the'sticky' thread, it has all that stuff. Not sure about the hardware lock though

Rom manager

Hope someone can enlighten me,
when I boot into recovery via rom manager it seems to be an older version of clock work mod with blue writing in which I get signature errors, however, when I boot into recovery manually, I get the newer version with orange writing
Can someone tell me if I can get rom manager to boot into the newer version?
Thanx

Isn't it available on Market?
Are you using a CWM and root that works with Rom manager ?????
As in post one Chainfires CWM and Root thread.
CF-Root/CWM4 is NOT compatible with ROM Manager! Manage/perform your backup/restores from CWM directly or using the CWM Manager application included with CF-Root
jje
Yeah that's the way I had to use it in the end, but was hoping to be able to use it through rom manager
To install cm7 nightlies easily

Cwm offical support

CWM added photon as supported device. I flashed cwm via app and now my recovery is all blurry. I don't know what's going on with it. Any one else please post ur finds. Can still navigate using volume buttons. If yours is like that just remember the top option is reboot device. It should reboot just fine.

Do you have a Photon or Electrify (not that that should make a difference)? Were you able to reflash the working version you had before?
Sorry I don't have any answers, but this does interest me. Might want to make/move thread to General Q&A or Devolopment as I wouldn't think this is a themeing question (plus you might not get many views in Themeing).

I posted here cause this is themeing and app section. I just posted as fyi.

I can confirm that flashing cwm via rom manager makes cwm blurry and skewed, but otherwise operational.

Fix. Reflash cwm zip via rom manager.

Well I'm getting a "Failed to boot 2" error now when I try to boot into recovery.
Reflash 5.0.2.7 in moto-fastboot mode.

Hey has anyone had problems flashing Rom with the CWM clockworkmod. I tried to install one of joker new CM9 rom and it wont boot. So I tries to wipe everything but that didn't work either. So I flash the old ,zip file for cwm and it flash the rom for me then.

AROMA File manager in recovery

XDA user amarullz brings up AROMA file manager which can be used in recovery mode. Now you have control over your files in recovery mode.

it works with amonra but, you gotta mount system and and data in recovery before using to get full root access in the app, but the app is amazing
This is really great when you are stuck on boot and you have no PC around..but anyone tested on p500?

It works, but there is an touchscreenbug for me.
Filemanager:
This doesn't create any shortcut in recovery. You need to flash the .ZIP to start the Filemanager.
But it's good, and I hope the toucscreenbug is gone in the ext version.

What happens to the nandroids made using CWM? Are they usable by the TWRP?
Having used both, I strongly prefer TWRP.
Not sure Ranger, I only have that very first backup from CWM, haven't had a need to flash back to GB.

No, CVM and TWRP nandroids are not the same....CVM will not work on TWRP and vice versa
