So who is responsible for the updates for the jetstream?
Is it HTC that practically ignores the device or at&t which is the only company selling it?
Rogers just release the Jetstream last week in Canada too.
I got some kind of OTA update on my first day with it last week though.
I don't really know what the update was for.

ok ATT is taking forever to release or even announce the fuze or when its coming. I went to my local best buy here in Greensboro, NC and i saw that they we already selling the "touch pro" even saw a customer purchasing one and activating it. i asked when it was coming for att, and he said he hasn't heard of anything yet, and probably come after February. he said that Verizon wireless was the next one to get it, and that was coming out in February and that att was usually the last one to release anything. so my question is, is the sprint version better to get or would it be the same thing. is unlocking and flashing a cdma just as simple as a gsm based phone. i will only ge the sprint if there is virtually no differences between the two

Hi there, i'm using a UK GSM Htc Hero and i have been patiently waiting for the 2.1 update to arrive! I noticed many people on here said the first update out of the two had arrived, and looking at the official HTC website, the actual 2.1 update is available. Now my problem is i'm using a standard Hero on 3, and i am yet to recieve any OTA updates at all!! my friend has a standard hero on T Mobile and hes already downloaded the first half of the update! what am i doing wrong???!!
thanks in advance, i am in the proccess of rooting right now.
Depends which network you are on...
If your are like me and stuck with T-mobile then I estimate a minimum of a week (they are testing it right now)
Orange: Expected in the "near future" again minimum of 1 week
Three: They confirmed it is going to be released Mid to late July...

Thanks a lot for the reply, its a shame they do this, first US gets the update and finally when it's available in the UK we have to wait even longer. I actually rooted my Hero today and installed the official 2.1 update with root access, its very good
I'm on T-Mobile, but I couldn't be bothered to wait for T-Mobile to release their version of 2.1 as they'll long it out, so I just used a generic HTC rom and ta-dah! 2.1 on my G2 Touch

Wow...
Never knew you could do that...
So where did you get the ROM from?
And
What will happen when T-Mobile release the update?
What CSCs are you generally getting from resellers? Latest European?
Anyone buy from NewEgg? (30 day exchange for issue laden device)
What are the pitfalls if any with using International Versions on ATT. I can see the advantages.
Flashing methods seem to be the same from what I am reading. Even A TiBu restore may work from a saved folder from the Captivate. Have not read of any differences there in apps or TiBu.
VPN settings work?
Been looking to get this handset but not sure about about a few processes. I am guessing MobileTech can unbrick one of these should I have an issue as they did one of my Captivates. I have not read of any US repair support expected.
USA Buyer
I have a SGII here in US, bought from onthegosolutions.com, works well on AT&T sim card. No setup issues, nothing to complain about but the problems with the native email app and activesync exchange server, that is supposed to be fixed in KE7 if I can ever get it.
The phone is the standard EU version XWKE2
I got mine from Amazon and the CSC was from Chile. Flashed the generic European ROM soon after to update the build to KE7. Everything has been working fine before and after flashing and rooting.
THanks for the replies. Being a "noob" to non branded Android Galaxy (always bought Nokia before and had to set up VPN was the only difference.
The two branded Captivates which were complete turds initially have been very nicely polished by developers. (hence my support of donations to them and this site.) I believe in supporting the helpful developers with my wallet for ROMS and paid Apps.
I don't use either Exchange or the stock Email app. I like Gmail and K9. I will root for TiBi and root Explorer. Probably run Cog at first since DG was a force on the SGS I and still is. When I get comfortable with the flashing processes I will try other ROMs
I guess most processes are similar to the S1. I did notice two rooting methods. I even read somewhere SuperOneclick may work.
OF hundreds of flashes I bricked once (recently) but $50 late MobileTech and the JTAG had me like new. Small price to pay to save a few hundred dollar phone. IM guessing Josh cna do the same with the SGS II.
Does anyone know when it will be available for AT&T?
I bought mine from New Egg and received it Thursday and I must say it is a great phone. Mine came with KE2. I just flashed Cognition on it a couple of hours ago and its even smoother and faster.
I read on Android Central the other day that Samsung was having issues with the carriers in the US on getting them to pick up this phone. I don't know why since its an awesome phone and they already have phones on all the major carriers. I'm glad I bought it outright instead of waiting for ATT to officially carry it.

The source of all those stories was a Korean writer with no facts talking out of his ass. A dev just found AT&T LTE code in the 2.3.4 leak along with PNG logos unique to their network.
Here's a link to the story that started it all. You judge if its credible.

Yeah IM over Carrier branded handsets. I was glad ATT never carried the N82/N95/N97 Nokias...... I could not care if ATT never gets the SGS 2. Probably get an SGS 3 instead to compete with ifad 5
Bought one here from the Market place with KE7....Hasn't arrived yet.

Does anyone have an idea when HTC will release an unlocked, unbranded version? How long does it usually take them to sell them on there own site or via Clove etc.
Does anyone knows when?
I'm outside the US and I want to get one.
Pretty sure no one outside of corporate (which ever) has that answer...especially the public. They might never release an un-branded phone. At this point it is just speculation.
yeah might just be a mytouch 3g slide/mytouch 4g/slide type device...tmo us release only
Well that would suck then. Why would HTC come up with a monster phone exclusively for the US only...
Anybody receive the May security update? I had been getting regular updates from Samsung, quite early in the month. Impressive actually. Haven't received the May update yet, so I'm curious if others have.
I have the unlocked version, but using it on the AT&T network.
TIA
Just got the OTA update. I'm surprised it's this late, considering all other OTA updates are usually within the first week of the month.
