hey does anyone know how to have group texting on the gs2? i send texts to multiple contacts but when they reply i get replies in separate threads so it ends up being like a one on one conversation rather than a thread of everyone texting together. i know in the iphone and windows phone, group texting works flawlessly.. anyone know if it works on this?.. thanks

Hey Folks,
I was wondering if with Handcent SMS it is possible to have group conversations. I know that you can select more than one contact to receive a particular message but is their anyway for it to host conversations. With BB(I know a shame to compare) I had an application and if I sent a text to say 5 people, all 5 people seen each others replys as the phone forwarded one persons reply to everyone else and added their name. Is their anyway to get Handcent to do this? To host like a chat, if you will. It was super handy on BB being able to text 5 people, and all 5 of us carry on a conversation.
If this is something Handcent can not do, is their any other good application recommendations?
Thank you very much,
Blaine

They claim to support group sms but like you said when people reply it goes into their own individual thread from my experience. Damn shame they can't get it working properly like on BB and iPhone.
Well as dissapointing as it is thank you for confirming it wasn't just my ignorance. Such a shame though. Have you found any alternative applications that can do it?
Thanks!

Actually I just gave up and said forget it to group sms for now. I emailed handcent but never got a reply.
That's just not cool. It would really be handy for me. Weird Handcent never replied.
OT: What year car do you have? Foxbody?
Handcent has a group sms plugin on the market. Never had a need personally but it may be what you're looking for
I've downloaded tthe plugin & well...I still haven't figured out exactly what it does lol.

after searching "handcent group sms" on the market, multiple packages showed up, so far I count 9 plugins for group SMS. I'm gonna screw with it a bit. You may need to have everybody you're texting in the group running on the same SMS client... I'll see what I can figure out with it
Hello everyone,
I recently wanted to group text with people with iphones and one blackberry and needless to say it was a disaster. I have tried both the stock messaging app and SMS go, and both fail miserably when receiving and sending texts that are in a group thread, I receive them all separately and send them all separately. Is there an app to do this?
I have a LG Nitro HD on ATT.
And yes i have tried Google and searching the forums only to find people not coming up with an answer.
Thank you so much for your help
Does your phone have an SMS mode? I know mine does. Also if it doesnt try Slate Droid forums or Android Central. Hope this helps!
What do you mean SMS mode?
bump, does no one know the answer???
I think textplus offers free group texting
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I would suggest checking out Kik messenger. I haven't researched the group messaging apps in a few months, but I know Kik was always pretty good about speedy receipt of messages, and it looks like it is back on Blackberry too (it had been removed from AppWorld for a bit). Kik will also allow you to send pictures. There may be another solution or two that would also solve your problem, so search around for apps similar to kik.
Hope that helps.
How about this?:

Hey,
I'm having some trouble on my Optimus L9 P769 group texting. I have figured out how to send a text to a group of contacts, but when those contacts reply to the text it comes in separate conversations. Do any of you know how to make the replies all come in the same conversation? Thanks for all the help I can get. By the way, I know I'm a noob so don't hate.

Its not a group texting, but a message who's sended to several people. Use an app like Whatsapp, Kik messenger or other to participate in group conversations.
Sentry is right. The stock LG app receives replies as individual conversations. Apps like Textra (Recommended, I don't like the UI but it's good) will let you use group MMS amazingly.
MMS has evloved into something it was not originally intended to be, and has become fragmented. MMS is implemented differently by different carriers and on different hand sets. The apps recommended by Ilxaot and SentryMescudi will use a seperate text number number (instead of your phone number) or 'user name' to recieve texts, and will use 3G/4G/wifi instead of your carrier's 2G service to recieve the texts. So make sure you tell all your contacts to use a seperate number when they send you a text.
I know about making sure the group MMS box being checked in the settings and it is.
My issue that my two friends that have galaxy s4's whenever they respond to a group message their messages come to me as individual threads, but other peoples goes to the group text.
I have a moto x (but it was doing the same thing on my gnexus).
Other friends all of their messages go to the group (iphone, moto x, htc one).
Any suggestions on what I can try and do?
Thanks,
Edit: Both S4 users came from iphones is that helps.
I'm having the same issue in a group text with my friend's new N5 and my N4. He used to have an iPhone, and our third friend is still using his iPhone, and back then all of my texts would be in the same group thread.
Since my friend upgraded to the N5, only our iPhone friend can see messages in the group thread when sent. When I send messages to the group, I can see my own messages and my iPhone friend's messages, but my N5 friend receives them individually on a different thread (these messages are still marked as being MMS). I have the same problem-- anything my N5 friend sends to the group thread, I receive in the individual thread (also marked as MMS). We are both on T-Mobile and iPhone friend is on Verizon.
Can anyone help us?
That is basically the same thing as mine. Our iPhone friends still receive them all in group messages so they think my phone is broken and i'm just an idiot. It is really hard trying to explain a technical issue to non technical people.
I think it might have something to do with iMessage not being disabled before they got rid of their iphones. I'm still trying to get my buddy to log into his apple account and make sure it is turned off. (Read this might be the issue from lots of google searching) I will report back when we check is apple settings and let you know.
Thanks! We thought this new Hangouts app update that "fixes MMS" would do it, but still having the same issue.
