Are you guys satisfied with the sound quality of X10 through earphones. To me,it lacks bass. What is the best earphone for this phone.I am currently on ep630 from creative.
I agree, the sound quality is slightly tinny.
I use Klipsch S4.
I am using Skullcandys (the big, golden one) and they are awesome :3
Our speakers (both) are a shame for x10 ... no bass, low volume and so on...

Well for me X10 has great sound quality, and bass. I can even say there's too much bass (and I like bass ). Just get good music player like PowerAMP, set the right equalizer, and You can get very decent results
I'm using Phillips SHE-9550.
Im using cm 6.1.2 xtremes. It came with a DSPmanager. It boosts volume, you can add eq effects, compression, bass boost. The rom has a great music player too. With lock screen buttons ( play ,forward, back). Kinda off topic but i use my phone as a music player more then a phone.
Im a producer and its the closest i can get to my studio sound.
My headphones are sennheiser cx 200.(got them for free..long story)
Oh and next time you want new headphones, check out your local music equipment store. Look in the studio section. Better headphones then your big box store has. Better prices too. If you feel the need to buy beats by dre. Slap yourself and go buy studio monitors from the music store. Sealed monitoring headphones if you want bass that makes your eyes vibrate. Word.

Hey all, just wondering if the beats audio make any difference. I currently use PowerAmp...usually with no EQ. My music files are mostly .flac with some .ogg and a few mp3's. I'm using Bowers & Wilkins C5 headphones on the go and Shure SRH 840 at home. Is it worth it to look for a ROM with Beats or is Beats all hype?
I tried a pair of Beats. They sound similar to my $50 earbuds. To me its just a marketing gimmick. The bass for me seems too overpowered as well, and I love boosting my bass so don't get me wrong. If you're looking for sound quality, you could get earbuds/headphones with equal or better for cheaper. Sony earbuds/headphones have excellent sound quality with a cheap price tag. Best bang per buck IMO.

I wasn't able to notice a difference but just try it yourself

the beats EQ on the sensation makes even my ipod headphones sound beast, id like it on here.
with the headphones i havent tried the in ear beats, ive tried the over the ear ones at staples and they sounded great
I got a pair of the solo hd headphones, they are over ear headphones, and music sounds amazing, id recommend them, though they are pricey.
For ROMs I noticed that bass boosting doesn't kill the other sounds and sounds cleaner.

Yes you are right. I even said in my OP which headphones I'm using. One thing I've found is that the stock HTC player with beats audio does not play .flac files.
I was really wondering about beats audio vs something like powerAmp. I have powerAmp now but I find none of the preset eq settings are satisfying. I know you can set custom eq but that's really a pain in the ass and time consuming.
Someone in another thread suggested PlayerPro, but it doesnt seem to recognize .flac files either (at leas the free version).
So I guess the question now is, should I convert my songs to mp3 to take advantage of beats audio, or PlayerPro.

i used to love poweramp, i just think its ugly as crap. beats eq sounds perfect for alot of music i listen to. metal, rock, techno, etc. its also annoying having 3rd partys apps, just makes your phone run slower
Hi!
Which audio chip is built in Moto RAZR? I can't find any information. Only I know about audio codec TWL6040 by Texas Instruments.
I think that RAZR playback on headphones is a loooot better than on e.g. iPhone 4. I have installed TTPod, and I hear much more details... Better sound quality.
Playback on Creative Aurvana Live! surprised me. It finally judges that RAZR have better sound quality.
But i still don't know which chip produces sound...
I'd like to compare it to chip in SGS with Voodo Sound. But I never heard, how it plays. People says, that SGS with Voodo Sound is the best Android player.
So I'm just curious, how it compares with our RAZR's
I'd be really grateful for satisfying answer
I come from Galaxy s2 and now audio is much more better. But i feel that my ex iphone 4 was superior to both.
We need a supercurio's review
Sound quality is subjective really. We all have different ears, different headphones, some people use different players and depends on the quality of the audio you're listening to (bitrates, source etc). If it sounds good to you - who cares!
There is a list of the chips inside the razr here: wwwifixit.com/Teardown/Motorola-Droid-RAZR-Teardown/7048/3 (add a . after the www). you can maybe work out which the audio chip is?
ST-Ericsson CPCAP 3.2 will be the one you're after, I believe.

Yes, audio perception is subjective, but, based on my ears, RAZR has better audio. I am using same IEMs, the Westone UM3Xs universal IEMs and Unique Melody Mage Custome IEMs for listening. RAZR has an audio signature or quality as good as my Sony Walkman NWZ-X1000; which is the best Walkman ever. Also better than N1 and SGS.
The audio amp power seem to be higher than any phones' I ever had, and it is really a good thing for me. Guess what, during phone calls, I set to MINIMUM, if I am using IEMs, and I find it still loud.
BTW, I am listening to RAZR without any audio effect or EQ.

+1 on audio power of Razr...
it's only took half volume from my defy to drive my iem
n you could try to install DSP Manager from CM to get more improvement on music quality
but, i feel my old defy with miui rom n miui player produce more detail n natural sound than this Razr, also the speaker sound crappy... i hope it will improve after burn in IMO
Check the audio quality review in this link:

According to GSMArena, the audio quality is better that the SGS II, but worse than the iPhone 4

do not forget, in Razr, in the Settings -- Sound -- Audio Effects, you can adjust the loudness of the razr,
for me, I use Extreme Bass without 3D effect and bass are beautiful
By defaut, it adjusted on Great Bass
Bass is neat, high notes are discreet but not painful, best balanced sound reproduction I have heard since the W980(walkman maestro).....
I am using with an Audiotechnica IEMs and it is the best out there...
Dey u have to try an iphone4
On SoundMAGIC E10 IEM's RAZR owns :]
amazing mobile player, best I ever had (Nokia N73, N95, N82, iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS, 4)
Other (better?) results can be achieved with a tweaking of the audio drivers (talking of the headphones), probably.

That good to here as I have some on order.
Should be here in a couple of days, can't wait.
First off I take ZERO credit for this but after stumbling upon this on XDA today in another thread I searched high and dry and couldn't find a post about it specifically so I figured I'd post it here.
I know everyone is going bananas over the Beats thing recently and while it seems to be more an EQ than anything else I can tell you supercurio (who deserves the credit) made a nice gem for us.
For those in the know, Samsung screwed us S2 guys dropping the Wolfson chip for the Yamaha chip and it seems now Voodoo is available for the S2
I'm big into home audio (esp. headphones). I've tested so far on my ear buds (Denon AH-C560R) but most importantly my higher caliber headphones (Sennheiser HD600 and Denon AH-D7000) and this upgrade to the entire driver not only gives the headphones a higher volume output but also adds some "oomph"
It certainly has limitations as a phone compared to my other sources but it's a substantial improvement in not only sound quality but also volume.
There's NO distortion or clipping that I've noticed yet. I'm playing notorious culprit type tracks for that (hard trance/rap). Everything is a joy with this.
Once again kudos to supercurio for this and everyone else enjoy. Lastly, you NEED TO BE ROOT for this to work.
I'm running it on a custom ROM no problem (UnNamed)

EDIT: Author states $1.35 but you'd see it right in the app when you go to use it.
Sounds great, but only works with wired headsets. I do most of my music via BT. Also, would be nice if he listed what the app will cost after install. Didn't see any mention of price.

No it wont. Its only wired headsets.
I use louder, but all it is is a dB booster. I don't feel like its really makes any noticeable difference in the sound quality.

It's better than Volume+ in that you don't get distortion or clipping at high volume levels. That's the beauty of this program. I've been playing with a lot of higher-end headphone as I've mentioned above and there is a difference when switching to this audio driver.
It's certainly no high-end source (the S2) but it makes it more tolerable of a device than without it.
Just bought it, and it sounds great!

Cool but the description of this app is clear... no sound improvements just more db's.
Equalizer makes my music way way louder already and sound better too for free. I can't imagine it even louder.
As far as sound quality at high volumes, I have sennheiser ie7's and it sounds perfect, no distortion or clipping. Maybe equalizer app helps idk

Ah bummer. Although the sound through the dock isn't that bad
Purchased and tested- doesn't improve quality of sound, just overall decibels. Great for headphones, not necessary if you're using an amplifier.
Great find, could even help the hard of hearing...
just downloaded it, I like the added volume but I wasn't able to use the +6db (due to a bit of bass distortion) with my powerbeats listening to Drake. The +4db sounds amazing though, will definitely like the added volume while in the gym. Good recommendation!
-Joshua
I use it along with Player Pro and it sounds great.
yep, it did make a legitimate increase in volume. makes me love me S4 Reference's even more
Sounds fantastickness! Thank you very much for this find. Purchased and exploited.

I keep trying different audio players, Poweramp gives me the best sound. Am I nuts?
A quick question for the Poweramp people, is there anyway to stream a url in poweramp like http://pub3.di.fm:80/di_lounge?
Thanks!
No matter how many I try I always go back to Poweramp
Neutron is a solid competitor to Poweramp. Some say it is much better. Personally I think they are both equally good but with a different sound. I prefer Poweramp for the road but I prefer Neutron alone in my room.

I thought it was just me, but apparently I'm not the only one that can hear the difference. I guess they all do sound the same until you hear poweramp.
I wish I had that EQ across all apps.
I bought both PowerAmp (first) and Neutron (after) so I always have the latest version. Neutron is a huge step forward audio-quality wise IF you activate 64 bit rendering and IF you have decent headphones ( I use Sennheiser's ie8i). Also: both of these are supposed to be used for lossless (FLAC, APE and such) audio playback. If you have only mp3 don't bother, Meridian will do just fine.
P.S> Neutron loses the battle against Power Amp because of the non-intuitive interface.

I also have Sennheiser's ie80. I mostly use mp3 (320 kb) because of the size. 3000 song Flac format would be to big. This is why I use neutron at home.
Btw: Flac or mp3 makes no difference if the recording is not very high quality. At 320kb you won't hear a difference in most rock or popular music.

for me poweramp are Lord of android audio..when i'm on gingerbread i combine with dsp manager. But when i'm use S3 dsp manage not support for ICS n JB.So i'm use siyah kernel audio eq for get more more power for my poweramp.
The first time I heard Power amp, I couldn't believe the difference and what was coming out of my little phone. That just happened because I read about the Wolfsen Dac.
I don't have anything high end at all and could tell the difference in power amp and Winamp. I have some m-audio monitors as my desktop speakers and PA really woke those up, I have crappy Bose in my car and had more mid bass than I have ever heard in my car. Even the cheap Samsung ear buds ran chills down my spine.
I sent Power amp an email the other day and Alex sent me a link about future upgrades.

Hi Kremata,
I dont agree, FLAC its not so big considering how cheap storage is nowadays. But you are right about one thing, if the genuine audio was over compressed, there is hardly any difference between 320 mp3s and FLACs. On the other hand, those who buy audiophile grade headphones or players are prone to be educated listeners and have superior taste in music. I don't want to offend anyone...

Yes storage is cheap, but just an example 1 album Flac =1G(aprox) compare to 120Mb Mp3(320Kb). I have a library of 500 albums so my 64G Sdcard is way over it's head. I use some FLAC (for selected songs) but I really like classic rock so most of my music doesn't need FLAC.

I agree with both sides of the debate..
320 is fine on the phone with let's admit it weak dac compared to pc grade quality..
Just load up a Trance track in both flac and 320. I've done it loads of times.. Flac always wins.. On phone and pc.
If I'm looking to store my flacs on my phone I just convert it to 320.. I use player pro with dsp pack on headphone eq with Siyah and a little fiio e6 if needed with some ath m50's

Strange, most of my FLAC albums have half the ”weight” you say. But, anyway, I dont see the reason to have all my musiv on my microsd, I dont even have the 64Gb type but a 32Gb class 10 Samsung. I keep my music mainly on my laptop and a 2Tb mediaplayer then I refresh the every day playlist on my phone as and when I need it. Much bigger inconvenience for me is the strange incompatibility Samsung has with headphones made for iphone, oppose to HTC phones. Yes, everyone knows the the volume buttons wont work, but Samsung will go further and have erratic problems with my Sennheisers (the second pair and type I have by now) and cant properly answer a phone call, sometimes routes music trough the phone speaker even if headphones are plugged in and so on. Really frustrating, but this is not the topic for that.
