Touchpad dead...Due to alpha?? - TouchPad General

Though I don't know if installing alpha 2.1 can do this but a day after I installed cyanogenmod 2.1 the touch pad vibrated then shutoff. Now I can not turn it back on. I've tried recharging it but it still doesn't turn on and I notice that the back of the touchpad was getting warmer the longer I leave it plugged in. If I had to guess it might be a problem with the battery. But has anyone else had this issue?

So holding home+power for ~30 seconds doesn't reboot it?

Try this for sure. Hold it longer if it still doesn't boot just in case.

Hey, Holding the home+power longer actually worked. Can any one tell me what the heck happened to it? sound like the sleep of death thing that people are talking about with the alpha 2.1

It is very intermittent thing with alpha 2.1 and seems to be a device by device thing. I have personally only had it once with alpha 2.1 installed.

Is not the proper way to reboot a touchpad in case of troubleshooting > hold down power button and press home button 10 times? Works for me every time.

Touchpad nonresponsive after flashing CM7

Hi All,
Anyone else having this issue? I installed cm7 and everything was working fine. I was playing with it and installing a few apps for a few hours. Then I plugged it into its charger and forgot about it for a few hours.
Then I went to check something on it and it would not turn on. No combination of Power + Up volume or any other buttons will work. Plugging it into the computer using the same supplied USB cable into a working USB slot doesn't yield any results.
It's almost as if all of the power has drained from it (it was at 50% power when I plugged it in last before all of this happened) and it's not being recharged. Just completely dead and unresponsive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Have you tried the POWER + HOME combo.
Remember to long press.
That is a known fix.

Thanks for the reply.
I've tried every combination of long button presses to no avail. But ill try again when I get home. Maybe within the 5-6 hours it'll "wake-up". Not bloody likely though.

Just got home and tried it. It worked! Thank you SOOO much. I did in fact try the power + home combo. I just didn't hold it down for that long. I counted until 25 alligators before the HP icon came on.
Thanks again!!

Touchpad won't turn on

Hi guys,
I've installed CM7 following the tutorial given on Touchpad Development forum.
Everything was working quite good (gapps, etc.) and I've been able to use CM during hours.
But since this afternoon, I'm not again able to turn my Touchpad on.
I've tried :
- power
- hold power
- hold power + home button
- hold power + home button + volume up
And nothing has worked.
Is there a physical way for resetting the device ?
Have you got any idea ?
I feel so unhappy because of this.
Thanks in advance for your help or ideas !
well... the Touchpad just turned ion !
Thanks God...
But I still don't know why I was unable to turn it on during hours... strange strange strange ! It just booted on with 40% of battery.
Let me guess. It was in a touchstone?

Mine is doing the same thing right now. Been using CM since this morning, set it down for a hour now and it wont turn on. I didnt even turn it off, battery was fine too.
edit...found a thread at rootzwiki and its easy fix. Hold Poer and Home for 15 seconds or so and it will fire right up!!!
http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?7913-SOLVED-Touchpad-shut-off-and-I-can-t-get-it-back-on!
From what I can tell the touchstone does not work with android. If the unit freezes hold home and power 15 sec

But I already said that power+home didn't worked for me.
The same thing happens again right now. My Touchpad can't boot.

Can't put to sleep/reboot?

Ok... So I can't turn my tablet off. I have to let it time out for it to go to sleep. I also can't hold the button down to restart the device. Does anyone know how to fix this without killing the battery? That's going to take a while at 65%.

If it is OP better not let it doesn't or he won't be able to cut it back on. Unless possibly if prime is poered down, plugging in power cord starts it up.
It can't be busted because I can wake it up, just not turn it off. It's like the power button gets disabled when the screen is on.

I still say the physical switch is busted. Don't know what software bug would cause your issue. In any case, you just have to drain the battery to turn it off, no other way. Stream a few flash based movies with the tablet overclocked.
Clockwork mod from the market can reboot from the app if you are rooted. Quckboot is another. If you have adb on your PC you can reboot using that too.

If you have Android SDK installed try adb reboot just to see it isn't hanging on some software problem...
Finally ran out of battery (damn these things last forever and that was only the first power cycle). Rebooted and it works as how it should. Time to see if I can replicate the problem.
Same thing happened to me last night had to drain the battery. wonder whats causing the problem.

Vol Down + Power not doing anything.

Hi!
I am rooted, and was running Android Revolution HD 13.
Tried to install KitKat 4.4 and the status was aborted. I saved a back up in recovery. I entered a boot loop once I restarted the phone. I thought, "No problem! I'll just get into my recovery!" But every time I hold the Vol Down + Power button, nothing happens. It simply shows, "HTC: Quietly Brilliant" and the developer disclaimer at the bottom. Any ideas?

When your at the HTC boot screen hold the power button and both volume buttons.... You'll see your button lights flash like 10-15 times and then it will force shut down your phone. Once it's completely off try booting into recovery again.

try holding it under a bright light ..the proximity sensor can keep the phone from shutting down if the room is not well lite

So are you thinking theirs some other miracle answer to your question ?
it's a fact that holding down the power button plus vol down till you see the blinking lights (around 10 seconds)
then let off the volume it will shut off, just keep trying.

I think it may be the vol down button to be honest. It is odd. I have never experienced an issue like this before.

Had a similar problem once. Let the battery run completely dry, then charged it back up and got into recovery from a power up.

Boot loop issue

So, ever since i updated to a 4.4 rom ive been having some boot loop issues. In the past i just had to plug the phone in and itd boot right up. But today it seems to have gotten into a pickle.
About every 7 or so seconds it reboots itself back to the white HTC splash screen. I can get into fastboot, but after a few seconds it reboots again, and i cant get into recovery at all because its rebooting so fast.
Any ideas on how to fix it, and any ideas on how to prevent it from happening in the future

Is it possible without those few seconds to some how get it to reset.. If not there really isn't anything you can do. You'll half to take your phone for a replacement.
Only other thing your can try is to fastboot a RUU

Thanks, I didn't realize that the bootloader was rebooting as well. Sounds like he's got hardware issues.
Sounds like a hardware issue to me as well. You have a warranty? Otherwise you could try taking it apart and see if the battery has a bad connection or something. I have a feeling it's the soc or something like that though. I feel like the fact that it's happening since you updated to 4.4 is probably a coincidence.

So, i feel that it may be my power button going bad in some way. Because before it goes into the bootloop the 3 hardware buttons flash, as if the power button is being held down, and ive found that to get out of the bootloop i can just 'pump' the power button

Sorry misunderstood
Do you think, maybe, the power button is bad. I've seen a few reports of this.
Sounds to me like it's stuck, pressed. That would cause the repeated reboots, lights flashing, etc.
Edit-- I see you already suspect this is the problem. Never mind...
Well, i flashed back to a 4.3 sense rom yesterday and havent experienced the bootlooping issues since. For reference, before i switched back it got to the point that it was doing it twice an hour
So hopefully it is a software issue and not a hardware issue(knock on wood), id rather not go through the hassle of paying my deductible and getting a new phone
