I was wondering if someone could list off a few BLN supported roms/kernels for me... I'm currently using powerwashed and was wondering if there was a BLN kernel I could use. You dont realize how nice that feature is until you dont have it on a ROM.

Works well on CM7 and MIUI with the Glitch kernel. I would also recommend using the "blinky" app to fine tune:
market.android.com/details?id=com.kin.blinky
TKSGB supports BLN. Flash that kernel and get Blinky and you are GTG....
Yes you can also use BLN Control Pro. Just make sure you set it up to blink with blinky or pro, because if you don't it times out after a few seconds.

I'm not sure about flash support. Never cared about it. Try Mik's ROM with franco's kernel. That's the best combo you'll ever get.
P.S: Whatever ROM you're using, if apps keeping running in the background, the battery is going to get drained. That is the law of science. Manage your apps and their syncing and the battery life will improve automatically.
for me open optimus with franco kernal v1 (16th aug) is the best combo ...
Mike's CM7 has been the best for me till now! As you said, Openoptimus does have some bugs...
Try cm7 from mik
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk
You must give a try to mik's stable 6.5.7 with franco's kernel 19.2
It will take you beyond awesome speed as well as battery life

Use CM7 from mik and franco kernel and dont forget to say them thanks for his hard work
I installed CM7 from Mik..
but, It does not support data
Will Get back to OPENOptimus
i'm doing a rom stable with GB, it's based on CM7.
Now i have only a bug:
The serial number
try void #forever.. maybe that's the one you are looking for
*performance *battery *stability

It does support data just fine for people who read the instructions and use the proper baseband.

thats not a biggie, mines erased anyway
and I would say gingerlol, it comes with app2sd running which works perfectly for me. (couldn't get app2sd working on open optimus) also paulo kernal with axis inversion fix is really good for battery, Havn't tried any CM7 roms because my phone came 2.3.3 preloaded and don't wanna flash different baseband (can brick phone) so am waiting (eagerly) for mik to have a fix for this
What is the best kernal to for best battery performance (not after speed but more battery) that supports BLN? There is so many now its gets a bit confusing.
cheers
what ROM are you using?

Siyah or fluxi
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
Siyah has the best implementation of 'true BLN' (as opposed to an app which makes your screen flash when you have call/txt/whatever). However, there is obviously a battery penalty if you use it (small I'm told; I don't know first hand as I don't have BLN enabled because I find it an utterly useless & low-fi solution) because when BLN is 'on' it holds a wakelock, which would probably be dependent on how often BLN is in use (I.E how many txt's/missed calls you have).
I'm sure there are also Siyah ripoffs which use it as well.
Siyah kernel mate, works perfect for me

Siyah is the best for battery and BLN.
If you want only battery flash cm9 kernel.

Hello all!! I'm using the latest CheckROM with cf-root kernel... I'd like to know some opinions with this rom and siyah kernel 2.4.1... How is the battery life? Is it stable? What is the bln mod in the kitchen pro app?
Thanks in advance!!!

Err...read the thread?
I am using that combination. The Battery life is good and my phone has been stable so far and also incredibly smooth. The only issue is that the kitchen app doesn't install modifications automatically with clockwork recovery 5 so you would have to flash them manually after downloading them.
BLN is a service that can make your white capacitive buttons light up in various ways to notify you about incoming messages, missed calls etc.

I have CheckROM 4.0 + SiyahKernel 2.4.2: works very good!
Thanks for your answers!
I also use that combo. Yes it is very good. Battery life is the best I have had personally.
Oh, and the kitchen installs the updates properly for me...

Guys, why dont discuss CheckROM in CheckROM Thread?
Do you really need new thread for this conversation?
Lol @ me

Dont mean to bump thread, but I'm also on CheckROM V4 and Siyah kernel.
When i download BLN using kitchen pro, it doesn't seem to work for me. Any help? I've tried downloading BLN from the market as well.
Siyah kernel works great with check ROM. Pretty stable and the battery life is great. But frankly speaking the differences if any are negligible. They are more of placebo. I currently use Siyah for MIUI only for the undervolting and bln support.

Could be broken in that kernel, try reflashing it and made sure the developer who makes it the change log doesn't say something like BLN is broken in this release. If these don't help you can try using an app called NoLED (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.led.notify) that allows similar function to BLN for devices without the notification led.

I have great battery life with that ROM, but I'm running Trinity kernel. I'd suggest trying a custom kernel like Trinity or KTmanta.

Here's the thread for Trinity http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2083885

While that ROM gets ok battery life, it isnt the best there is. Smaller ROMs with less features tend to get more battery as they dont try and do so much stuff. But still, I dont see a problem with AOKP PUB, it still is ok enough on battery. The kernel has a lot to do with battery since it controls your CPU speed, scheduler (which some use more or less CPU), and GPU, as well as voltages. So the right kernel combo can give much better or worse battery life.
Alright so i booted into recovery mode and installed the trinity kernel. Now once i cleared cache/dalvik and fixed permissions, i have booted up and in settings it still says the kernel is: 3.4.5-g3e87446-dirty. Its the same as before, did i do something wrong?
Its possible the ROM you are on has Trinity installed by default, or the kernel didnt install right. Also you dont need to fix permissions.
I'd try and reflash the kernel again, and post back if it doesn't work.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda app-developers app
Still not working, any ideas? It did say updating android when i booted up and scanned app my apps, but no change in kernel
That's really strange, do you get any errors when flashing?

CleanROM with stock Kernel has great battery life on mine.
Nope everything working fine, but i cant seem to get this to work. Ill try the KTmanta kernel and post back.
Alright so i got the KTmanta kernel to work, so i guess the trinity one doesnt work with mine? Now how can i see how much of a battery improvement this made? Is there an app or something? Thanks guys
Kernel and app in the first link, premade settings in the second link if you want them. Settings get placed in the tweaking apps' folder and loaded from within the app itself

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40087947&postcount=2741
What does that app do specifically?
Allows you to tweak all kernel related settings
All i really need is better battery life lol
Then use enigma1987 settings as a base for further optimization. Read the forum to get the knowledge about the different options that the Tweaker app offers and adjust them on your own taste. I am getting an average of 8h+ screen on time with good performance
Well when the next KTManta kernel version comes out I will be putting out a new version of the "Butterlicious" settings as there are major changes to the kernel. In addition I will also post a pre-made settings file designed entirely around best battery life. Talha746, can you please list out the things you do most on your tablet? And any games you play regularly?
I basically watch videos and play emulators and surf the web. But as of installing this kernel, i cant even play a single video file! It keeps crashing and turning off my device, any ideas?
