Flyer bricked I think - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

Never came across this before on the forum
My flyer won't turn on
The amber light light flashes on the power button when I connect the charger or USB cable
The last thing I did was flash clock work mod with fastboot
I have flyhoney Rom installed
Any help will be appreciated

Sorry I don't know. You might want to send it back.

Thanks for the reply will do that I guess

So I'm assuming no recovery?
My flyer wouldn't respond when I first flash hc and I had to hold power button and vol down for a really long time before it would go into bootloader.
Also ADB pull sometimes will allow you to boot.
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using xda premium

are you able to boot into recovery?

Unfortunately not
I tried everything
Power button for eternity and nothing
Can't boot to anything, power button just keeps flashing amber
Looks like I'm going to send it in for repair
To me it seems like a battery issue, unfortunately its not accessible

I am not an expert, but I was reading this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18820479&postcount=107
It appears that you have the same issue he is having (you corrupted recovery image) that you have a bad recovery image.
You might want to ask globatron for help. I think you need to do charge your flyer using computer (very slow) and then reinstall recovery.

Can you get adb to recognize device? If so try to root the device again using the revolutionary io method and from there maybe it will repair the bad recovery
From the way it sounds it's like you're stuck in the boot loop but you can't see image
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium

So you said that you had flashed cwm recovery, did you do this from cwm? if so that may be as previously stated a bad recovery (I am not aware of any version of recovery that can be flashed directly from cwm) If you can get your Flyer to charge, then use adb commands to get it to bootloader, then usd adb to flash the revolutionary recovery, you may be ok.
I remember once accidentally flashing the wrong recovery from cwm, I used adb to reflash the correct one before rebooting the Flyer again.
Not sure if this will help with your particular situation but it may be worth a try.
Cheers
BR

So, my light doesn't flash, it just stays on, and I wasn't doing any hacking! last thing I did was turn it off normally. I plugged it into some outlets without surge protectors, could that have done it?

Continuous amber sounds like normal charging to be honest.
Pug it into a PC using the usb cable and check to see what type of device gets discovered.

Nothing gets recognized, device manager doesn't see any change just continues flashing amber
I had cwm v3xxx and saw there was a v4 from another thread and flashed that, wish I hadn't
Everything seem fine after the flash from fastboot/adb but when I returned to check, it was flashing amber ever since

Blinking amber usually means the battery is completely depleted.
You can either send it back for repair, get another battery or cobble together an offline charging method.

Thanks off to the repair shop
I hate that I am unable to charge with honeycomb since it uses more power than what the USB can charge the tablet

I am in the exact situation and can't start HTC Flyer.
Please help.

Try holding the power button for 20 seconds and see if the light goes solid amber. If so, let it charge for 30 minutes. Also make sure you are using the official charger and not a third party one.

I am in exact same situation. The Flyer is just not charging and is not recognized by computer. Tried everything.
Maybe its a problem with leak3 or with the process I followed to upgrade to leak3. I was on leak2 and had applied system image and boot image to upgrade to leak3.
Anyway the end result it that my Flyer is a brick. Do you think HTC will fix this?

So. Did you solve the problem?

I don't believe you are in the same or even a similar situation. I'm pretty sure the problem in your case is that your battery is flat and you can't charge it because your hboot doesn't match your recovery. When you connect the charger you get a flashing amber LED, correct?
EDIT, sorry cnewsgrp; I mistook you for someone else, I remember your issue now. Completely discharged and wouldn't charge from there.

This is a complete guess/longshot but take out the battery, plug in the charger and hold down the power button. While the power button still held, unplug the power cord from the phone and insert the battery. This once worked to get my old Xperia X10 to respond. Different phone, but thought it might be worth a try.

Have you tried adb reboot recovery? If by some miracle adb sees the phone you can just flash a recovery and load up a rom. Might have to try acting like you power it on. It could be actually powered up but not screen or led responsive.

I've had a problem like this with my phone before, I let my battery get to zero while in recovery mode and phone wouldnt do anything. The battery seemed like it was so low the phone didn't recognise it was there. I hooked it up to a variable dc voltage box and jumped it for a bit and it worked. U could either stop at a sprint store and see if they have a charged battery, or get one of those things that charges the battery outside of the phone, its like a universal battery charger or somethin.

Twrp 1.xxx would think the phone was in recovery after the battery died. It made it so you needed to pull the battery for a while to let the capacitor drain and reset twrp

Download ADB from http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Download the zip
unzip somewhere
Open SDK manager
Download sdk platform-tools and tools (other stuff is optional)
open cmd and use "cd <directory>" to navigate to platform-tools in the android sdk folder (e.g. "cd /android-sdk-windows/platform-tools/"
Download htc sync http://dl3.htc.com/application/HTCSyncv3.0.5579.exe
uninstall after installed
connect phone to computer
type "adb devices" in a cmd/terminal
if it recognizes your device, it's not bricked
try "adb reboot bootloader" and see if it gets into bootloader. If it does, flash TWRP 2.0 and flash a ROM. Your device should now be usable.
If that doesn't work, you could probably download the bootloader file and push it to your phone but you'll have to ask someone else about that.

[Q] Stuck in boot loop. Cannot access recovery or bootloader

Howdy,
I'm stuck in a boot loop, searching the forum for a similar problem has yielded no result applicable to my situation.
I'm running CM10 and using TWRP (latest I think) and I'm S-OFF. Ive been running cm10 for about a month and have had no problems. This morning I woke up and checked my emails and texts then put my phone in my pocket. When I took it out about an hour later, the power button wouldn't wake my screen but it would light up the capacitive buttons. To try to fix, I did a hard reset (power button 10+ seconds) and now my phone won't boot or show anything on the screen, it just vibrates over and over.(about 10 seconds between vibrations) I also am unable to do another hard reset (the buttons wont's flash or anything). I've tried to get into bootloader and recovery and I can't get into either.
Also, I plugged it into my computer, and the charging light isn't on. According to om4's thread, I think I might have a corrupt kernel? But i don't know how that would be possible since I haven't flashed anything new for a month or so and I havent had any problems previously.
I'm familiar with adb and fastboot. But since I can't hard reset again, i'm not sure how to get into bootloader. Any ideas?

Wait....
So does the phone turn on to get adb support?
If you have adb you can reboot into the recovery.....adb reboot recovery
If still no see if you can run a ruu.exe for your device....this will restore your device to factory configuration.
If your phone doesnt even boot or anything thats not good really.

It's going through the same steps with the back cover off. Either no vibrating or continuous vibrating and no charge light. Screen is still blank.
EDIT: Does this seem like a problem with the kernel? or is it impossible to say. Is it worth trying to exchange the unit itself at best-buy
I appreciate your speedy replies.
If you don't have anything important on your phone I would definitely take it back to best buy. It's hard to say what it could be but if you were running fine then it all of a sudden happened with no changes I would doubt it would be the kernel

My HOX+ ran of out charge completely yesterday while I was playing a game on the phone. I plugged the phone in for charging via USB, the red light blinked three times and stopped. There is no sign of the phone charging anymore. So I then tried charging it via an AC adapter. The red lights stays there for only about 5 seconds and disappears again.
I have tried already tried to hard reset (power + volume down) the device. No sign of recovery! I also tried removing the SIM card and tried charging. This wasnt of much help either.

Could be,
Visit Lloir's thread or TWRP official site and install the TWRP that is relevant to you (INTL / ATT)
you need to restart in fastboot to flash recovery.

I did that previously. I used the recovery suggested for my phone. Something still went wrong with the recovery.
I cant restart in fastboot. The phone is dead, No charge to even flash a ROM or do anything to recover my phone.
I think its time to give it to HTC. Hopefully since the phone doesn't switch on they probably wouldn't be able to figure out its rooted.
Thanks for your help guys but I think its time to call it.

Okay So I left the phone on charge for 27 hours. No lights and no sign of any activity. So then I had this little whack idea
I plugged my phone into the PC first. As I mentioned earlier- When I plugged my device into the PC the light blinked three times and then no light at all.
So this time when i plugged it into the PC I held the power button and waited for the three blinks after this I quickly took the usb cord and plugged it into an AC adapter while still holding the power button and Voilaaa
The phone is completely functional again.
Glad to have put you on the right track

Hi All.
Not exactly the same problem but very similar. I've opened my HOX+ a little (just enought to measure the pogo pins by inside). Then, when my device got discharged (already closed), I plugged the AC power and turned it on. During the boot screen, It suddenly turned off and now, when I plug the power the only thing I got is a red light blinking forever. No boot screen.... My device was unlocked and flashed with Elegancia for some days before it happened.
Does anyone has any ideas? Now I have a pretty fancy paperweight!

the flashing red lights = it's charging but not enough juice to boot, so leave it on an AC charger for about 30minutes

Razr wont turn on

I have searched all over and tried all of the power + vol, +/- , usb, pc chargers etc...I get the solid white light when plugged in. The PC recognizes the phone I assume because the computer makes connection noises and moto drivers popup to install. It is stock, unrooted running JB and has been rebooting and not turning back on right away for a few weeks now until last night where it was on the charger all night and now is 100% dead. Any options? I cant seem to find a final working answer? Will it come down to needing to get a factory usb cable to enter fastboot, even which, what to do from that point?

OK here is how to make your stock cable into a factory cable http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2075647
Now that will let you flash it without it being charged. I would recommended flashing a stock sbf for your phone model and provider also make sure you use the jb one ics won't work. Also I recommend using rsd for the flashing process
OK thanks I'll soldier one up tonight and try it out. Can someone send me a link to the sbf files? Which version of rsd is recommended?

after many tries of plugging in usb, it finally went into fastboot where RSD was able to recognized it. I SBF'd, it completed then said it needed to reboot. It wouldn't reboot on its on probably because I had the program factory usb cable attached. Still got nothing after that, power button, hold vol down, hold both, wall charger, pc charger etc...I still get a white blinking light then solid then off when in the wall charger. The computer just makes the connect and disconnect noise for like 4 minutes then it does nothing. I'm still having trouble trying to get it back into fastboot with factory cable, its totally random when it decides to accept it. I'm out of ideas?
Do you have a multimeter? And if so, have you ever removed the back of your phone?
If you're willing to, (at your own risk, as this will void a warranty), you can remove the back of the phone, and check the voltage/amps on your battery and charging contacts. Unscrew the contacts (using a very, very small torx driver), and check the voltage on the battery (3.8~ I believe), and voltage/amps on the phone contacts with the charger plugged in (and battery disconnected). If there is current, then the battery is being charged. Watch the behavior of the phone and LED as you're doing this, as it could tell you if and when you current is steady. I may be wrong, but a flashing LED means charging, and steady means charged/not charging (for various reasons). There may be a physical problem with the USB port on your phone, causing intermittent connection problems, leading to the flashing and power-up issues altogether.
In reference to the connect/ disconnect on the computer, in Control Panel>Device Manager>USB Controllers, I uninstalled (not disabled) both my Root Hubs and Host Controllers, and Windows being Windows, it automatically reinstalled the proper drivers. Voila, my phone was once again recognized. (Done with my SGS3, though device type is moot with this idea.)
Good luck!
I've spent too much wasted time messing with it. To the graveyard drawer with the droid 1, HTC rezound and now the RAZR it goes

What model of htc do you have?
Dumb question, have you taken the battery out?
and a light should come on when its charging but doesnt?
it is more than likely possible to recover as long as nothing is damaged, i had a bootloop virus after trying to root, i had a friend fix it for me but all he did was flash the stock ruu using adb which was a pain in the ace because adb couldnt find the phone and the stock ruu was a Beach.
um, if none of those work, try a different cable i guess? trying to see if it is just an easy fix before you have to do anything 'fun'
No I didn't take the battery out it's not removable and no lights come on whatsoever and the pc can not see my phone no matter what cable I use
Let it sit on the charger for a day (24 hours) and then try to turn it on, this has been known to work. If this doesn't work then you may need to send it in. Could be bad battery or motherboard.
Thanks I'll try it man
Have you performed the 3 finger salute for about 10 seconds? It drains all power so you know if your toast. Hold the volumes and power.
