Download astro file manager. After install open application and click file manager. Then hit ur phones menu button and choose preference. Scroll to bottom till u see enable browser download and check it. U can then exit application. Should work now. That's how I fixed issue on my photon.

You aren't using a computer at all to snag ROM's and such?
Hello everyone, first post since joining. I have a 16GB SD CARD which was partitioned for use in my previous phone (HUAWEI ASCEND running CM7.2 which had DT'S A2SD incorporated into the ROM, partition size of 1GB & 32 swap).
My question is this :
As I am still stock & un-rooted,is their any added benefit to leaving the partitioning in place or should I delete the partition. THX!
BTW, I've had the phone for only a week & still getting acclimated w/it, will probably root sometime later, very pleased w/the overall performance @ this point.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
I don't see a reason to keeping it as CM7 for a different device won't work on the Photon. But that's just me. So it's basically a partition of information that is not usable.
I was not near a comp at the moment but wanted to download something for later use. I usually use my laptop. But that method worked so thanks for the help. Medic

I currently have the 2.1 Sense ROM from the Legend section booted. I'm using beta 3, which I will have uploaded tomorrow for you guys. I am currently missing wifi, and bluetooth(Duh). It does not seem to be too laggy, as it was before. Infact, it's smoother than CM7 I have to honestly believe. Anyone who wishes to assist, pm me and let me know what you've got. This will be my first porting project, so I need all the help I can get. I am using drowningchilds kernel. I am using drownings 8-6 BFQ kernel. http://www.mediafire.com/?m32eheivfpt6v63
Link for all. Only special thing working is the sd card.
Problems:
Accelerometer
Wifi
Bluetooth
Notification LED(not sure)
If you find anything else, let me know and ill try. This is really just a test for ui bugs and so on, as I know most of the driver issues.
Lol I thought you meant android 2.1 with sense. Can't wait for this good luck!
Signatures are fancy.
For sd card replace vold.fstab in system/etc
The wifi doesn't work with the module included in my zip?

Okay. Have sdcard working. Setcpu tested for the hell of it. XD. Now I need to figure wifi out and we can begin a beta release.
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
it could be looking for a different driver(in boot img, kernel is looking for the one included in my zip)...the marvel(wildfire s) uses the same chip/similar driver to ours
best bet would be to get a clean wildfire s rom and try that
Can you post the ROM out so we can test, i waiting for this rom for almost half year!!
I will post it when I get wifi working. Sorry for making you guys wait Crap, I just realized another thing that doesn't work. The accelrometer. Drowning can you offer any advice there? I replaced liberty.sensors but I guess that was the wrong thing.

Beta 4 does not boot.

Don't give up!
Anyway you can just roll out the alpha version so everyone can figured this out
First thanks for port this rom! On my phone I be able to boot the alpha 4 rom with the drowing 8-8 kernel, when I saw you post i can't hold to try it! the issues i could see are these:
hard buttons (home, menu, back, search.) WiFi, sdcard and sensors...
The differences between the alpha 3 and 4 are de frameworks one is from HTC wildfire and the other is HTC salsa.
Dont give up, you can do it! I dont know much about programming, sorry, but if you need to find resources or something else count on me.

Is this a kernel driver issue? What kernel are you using? Is it set to use the liberty board v. the marvel board?
Edit: NM. I saw in your first post that you're using a Liberty kernel.

The MD5 sum is a type of checksum used to verify a file's integrity. It's a very good thing for them to match on a ROM, however, if they don't and you still flash it you won't brick your device. It probably won't work right either. When flashing a radio, you should always check them because a bad radio can brick your device.
Thanks

Is that what Rom stats is for? Under unique ID is that my md5? So since you say they need to match , how can i find a Rom that does match?

md5sum is command line application and has nothing to do with that. It does no good to see what the md5 of something is AFTER it's loaded onto your phone and installed, since by then you already figure out if it worked or not.

That one shouldn't be giving you problems as long as you are NOT using ROM Manager.
I mean this in the nicest way possible but I think you need to do some serious reading up and googling and get yourself well versed in android and HTC devices specifically. It takes some time and dedication but it will save you tons of headaches in the future.

I've never had one completely take a crap on me, but I've had the SDcard become corrupted multiple times. SDcards are based on NAND memory, and NAND isn't even remotely reliable. Cells die in it all the time. It's so unreliable that every NAND device is manufactured with a certain percentage of dead cells, and every NAND device has logic built onto it to manage it's steady rate of failure. Usually the card itself can manage and recover data from a few lost cells, but from time to time it can't. Nothing using NAND memory technology should be considered fail-safe. That would include SDcards, MMC cards, eMMC like that which is built onto the phone, and USB thumb drives.
You can't really prevent an SDcard from going to hell. It happens. Buy ones that carry a warranty is about as good as you can do. Running ultra-low voltages on your device aren't going to help reliability either. No download should cause it to fail though.

So the moto devices put the external SD card under mnt/sdcard-ext as everyone here knows. I'm wondering if there is any method to:
1. Have apps like rhapsody use the external card for downloading music
2. Remap using external for things like Gameloft games data
I am rooted and I've been looking at solutions - alsso know that non stock will allow for changing mount points completely, but not quite there yet.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

OK. I see what to do to swap. Rather then swapping it, is there a "better" mount point for the external so that programs like rhapsody would use it properly? I assume using a bind command from shell would be enough to get the Gameloft games moved.... right? Or do most people simply swap internal with external?
Thanks.

I'm curious too, been wondering this for a while but never thought to ask on here.
Is there a step by step guide for doing this or is it going to be too complicated for someone not familiar with coding.? I would love to accomplish this.

vold.fstab is located in the system/etc folder. You must be rooted to see it. You can change where the mount point is for the external SD card. How to do it is pretty straightforward based on reading the file and Googling. My question is specific to how 'mother's devices deal with the external card and how software like amazon mp3, rhapsody, etc store data to the external SD and how remapping the external SD on the photon would best allow those apps to use the microSD successfully.

Well that would be something the app developers would have to do. The vold.fstab trick is to trick everything in to thinking their switched. Not really a permanent solution. Try contacting the app devs and give as much info as possible including mount points

Lol question is was she actually talking about sdcards lol jk
To get slightly back on topic , I was wondering if someone could spell out exactly how to do aa 'junction' (this would be the windows term for it) where you have an invisible link for the OS to follow from one place to the next. So instead of modifing the root files, instead running an app that manages it or a script at boot that would allow it. Again - on stock firmware if that matters.
Mnt/sdcard/gameloft redirected to mnt/sdcard-ext/gameloft
Make sense?

That is not totally correct.Google stopped the external SD support and Samsung tried a workaround and can be done.
exfat is a supported conversion on our phone but not standard.
U can flash this to be able to move apps to SD. But u need to convert it to fat32
I was actually looking for a solution too. But its sad that I need to use fat32. I prefer ExFAT so that I can store high def movies on my External SD card. Hope theres a solution for those who use the ExFAT file system soon.

I finally upgraded to android, i got the cheapest phone possible(kyocera milano) which seems to be a mistake. The phone has only about 300mb internal storage and can barely handle its own updates(because of the limited storage). so i would like to know if its possible to make the phone "think" that some of the sd card is part of its internal memory? I found an adb driver for it(dont ask me where or which one because i had no idea and started messing with one until it worked) i have not tried rooting but can if i need to.
