Maybe after some time(year or two) but i don't think so.MiniCM7 is full of bugs and ice cream sandwich is much more difficult than miniCM7 or CM7. After year everybody will have HTC. A very few people will use x10 mini/pro/x8 so there won't be any reason to spend much time and make android 4.0 for x10 mini.

ICS would run so slowly it would be awful. I'm sure someone will get a build running but, for now, enjoy the GB releases!

for x10 mini pro is custom rom with android 4.0 theme... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1333234&page=2

no. it cant be discussed yet. source isn't available yet. but ya sure. there will be a port. but we dunno how stable nd quick it will be. even theres a port of honeycomb too. but its all buggy!

Announced at Google IO, will we see the next Android version Ice Cream Sandwich on our SGS2?
They also said samsung have signed up to providing updates for 18months on new phones, does that include the SGS2?

I'm guessing (and hoping) that will mean yes!
As far as ive read, the android carrier alliance has promised updates for atleast 18 months on all phones in their current lineup. Since the sgs2 is so new we should be ok.
All phones released after the signing of the deal are covered.
I suppose the next question to ask is how dry is that ink?
Considering the hardware specs on the SGS2, ICS will be eaten easily. Since Samsung has been more than adequate in updating their phones, especially the flagships, I'm very confident that we will be eating Ice Cream Sandwich this fall.

[Q] Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Hi,
When Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is released (or if you get a leaked version/early SDK dump), could devs please have a go at making ROMs with it for the X10 mini Pro please? Thanks
Kind regards

Maybe NOVEMBER but is not because it is small screen
X10Mini /Pro wont get Ice Cream... no support
I can imagine the highest version of android for mini/mini pro will be 2.3 as 3.0 and 4.0 are more higher end devices and tablets
Didn't Google say that Ice Cream will have a lower specification requirement than Gingerbread? What couldn't we port the vanilla to the Mini?

What I think is a little strange is that SE signed up to Goggle's plan to give new phones 18 months of update support, then SE dumps it's 2010 phones? Really? On the other hand, they're a smaller player in the global market and can't spend on less-than-essential items now...

[Q] Ice cream for X10

Hi all,
Short question: Will it ever be possible to get ice cream for the X10? Or will it just be too much to run it without lag etc.
grtz,
A_U
EDIT:
No need for an answer anymore, I already know doomlord started a development thread
i am also looking for answer..!!!!!!!
probably. It was said that devices that could run gingerbread can theoretically run ice cream sandwich.

I know we won't get the update from SE itself, but I doubted whether we would be able to get it from FreeXperia team (cm) or just another custom rom.

Yes, they are the only ray of hope. I can't stop cursing SE for they just dumped x10. They launched ray, arc, neo, play.... No issues, but they still talk of mini, mini pro..... Yet x10 remains in darkness!

We even have 2.3.7 (Cm7) so..
ICS is really optimized for HD Displays (Something we don't have).
I doubt a FULL, 100% complete Port will come.

I believe the idea behind ICS was a new single open source OS that will run on everything from small phones to large tablets and everything in between.
Yes, that was the idea, but I don't see support for 2010 phones.
I won't even receive the X10i that I bought until Friday but considering they started with 1.6 and have 2.3.7 now, I am eminently certain I will soon be running 4.0.1 on mine.

well who knows we want some FXP magic!
The devs are currently in trouble solving issues about the porting. Hope they get around it soon.

Does it support x10 mini pro ice cream sandwich?

I have understood that if the device supports Gingerbread, also Ice Cream Sandwich can endure, this is right? They may support the new operating system?
What do you mean? Gingerbread is not officially supported on the x10. The guys here made it work. Icecream will work too, but not until google releases the source code/ AOSP. Google didn't release the source of honeycomb yet... anyone knows if they'll release ice cream in open source?

ICS source will be released soon after the Galaxy Nexus
I meant that if the phone is powerful enough to handle it, or instead, go very slow.
Oh, it should go faster than light. Each version of android proved to be faster and lighter than the previous one. I suppose it will be the same with icecrem. =] I want to believe that, anyway.
Sent from my X10mini using XDA Premium App
Read this page and the next one. We'll have to wait and see if it is possible or not.
Each android version doesnt work faster with same hardware, thats a common mistake. Each new version has better performance, that is not the same thing.

Unless ICS has some code the specifically will not run on Arm V6. I would be surprised if it did.
in my opinion is a better idea looking for improve the quality of gingerbread rom at 100% before think about ICS (that probably don't work properly on x10 mini hardware)
i think the same as long as there is no code preventing it to run on armv6 or our gpu (which might be our real problem) ICS should be able to run on our devices and according to an interview I read its supposed to have about the same specs as gingerbread so it might be possible. we'll see once source is released.

For those in the know, SE will no longer be updating our phones at all, what with the 2011 range being out and our product lifetime with SE ended.
ICS may be incompatible with our phones at the moment, but it may be possible to be engineered to work with our hardware. I reckon that when we start seeing nightlys of Cyanogenmod 9, that's when i reckon developers will take more intrest in getting ICS on our devices.
I'm just greatful to have Gingerbread on our devices
expect our minis devices are compatible with ICE CREAM, since not even received the official update froyo, we hope that developers can adapt this update for our devices.
sorry, but i not speak, and write english, i use the google traslator
anybody are not working on the ICS for x10 mini pro. Someone must work for us. We are waiting with excitement

Jelly Bean will be a tablet OS like Honeycomb :/
Like, for honeycomb they shifted to Motorola [XOOM], for this too, i dont think Samsung's gonna be ''the one'', still no updte on that.
It will basically run on tablets AND PC's. Dual Boot being the main feature; AndroidOS and Chrome OS. So expect it to be running on really powerful tabs/PC's/maybe even quadcore phones.

Nothing for our small & cool X10 Mini?
We dint even get froyo officially, lol. If Google releases jelly beans code, maybe the devs wwill make a rom for us. But Google did not release source codes for honeycomb (not until ics's code was released) so they might not release it for jelly bean, too.

before something like that happens, stickie a notice. (mods, admin).
well, jb seems far from our phones, kinda like honeycomb.
Wow, so fast!
But i think right now i am more than happy to be waiting out for a final ICS rom. The current paul-xxx rom on cm9 running ICS is really smooth, i think the final version of that rom is gonna be legendary.
Really exciting times on android as well as for the mini pro users too !!
too fast, problably as said here is for tablet and not for smartphone, that why in 2Q
It was the same with 2.3 an 3.0 there were just 3 monzh between them
And ICS was supposed to merge tablets and smartphones...

Google release ICS, the problem are manufactured OEM that are not able to personalize ICS for all the hardware, in your case Sony.
We have only 2 possibility:
Wait OEM update and need some time, and is not secure your phone is updated
Use a custom rom via XDA
I really dont like thif fu***** ics and will hate jelly bean
Sent from my U20i using XDA
If it can be modded to minis and bring benefits, why not try?
However I think that's too little time between the android's OS. And that restriction from OEMs, Sony in my case, almost made me regret having bought my mini, thank God XDA exists!
The host for jellybean is HTC and google..i think
