i can't seem to record any video. camera app is working fine but whenever i switch to camcorder, it acts like it's recording but when i go to gallery, it's saying file cannot be displayed or played. when i try to play those files on a pc, it says it's not a video file/file corrupted.
has anyone experienced this?
I haven't. And I just used mine a couple days ago. Now this may also be silly but have you tried using the camcorder app? Rather than switching to video mode in the camera app. (I really don't think that will make a difference but worth a shot)
Are you recording to Internal storage? If so then you shouldn't have a problem, but if your recording to ext-sd then maybe your SD card is malfunctioning. I'd try a factory data reset if your recording to Internal Storage, and a new SD card otherwise.
If it is an SD card issue, there is a couple things he could do before replacing it, such as unmount/remount, and if that doesn't work, back up his data and wipe it. Then if neither of those work, get a new SD card.
A buddy had a similar issue with music, had to unmount then remount the card to get the phone to access the music on it. That worked. So.
I had a similiar issue, factory reset did not fix it, nor did a reflash of the latest sbf. Here is what finally did:
1) Reflash or hard reset stock rom
2) Only set up initial email
3) open the camera/camcorder (should prompt you for storage location)
4) open gallery
5) finish set up of everything else
I had the exact same problem where they would not show up or show up corrupted. I also had an issue trying to put pics into an album though the stock app (would force close).
Good luck and post back with your results.

I am having force close issues and problems saving pictures when I was saving to my SD card. I switched to internal storage and everything is now fixed.

Could it be the sd Card? What card do you have?
TS
Sorry to bring up an old thread but I am having this issue. Has anyone found a fix?
I have tried, moving pics over to internal storage, formatting sd card and moving back, and even taking a new picture. So far no luck
I never found a fix, and MR5 did not appear to fix the problem either.. This happens if my photos are stored on internal memory, or on a card..
guess I will hit the motor phoroms in the morning. Thanks for the update.
Just wanted to update this. I also ran into the issue of not being able to record videos as well, or them being deleted if it did record.
A few hard resets later and i found a work around. Hard reset and clear cache, and only add your google account. then open the camera and set up the sd card etc. then go into gallery and add a pic and make an album. After that is should work. I am not sure if it the camera not searching the sd card or adding facebook that causes it, but this is what has worked for me on 3 occasions now.
Hey all.
Right, so I have a problem.
I have a Kingston 16 GB Mixro SD Card I purchased from amazon. I recently transferred some .mkv anime fils over to it, using the USB cable and MTP mode. Worked fine, the files played flawlessly in MX Player.
Then I wanted to play them on my Note 10.1, cause of the bigger screen and front facing speakers, I thought it'd be a better experience. I setup MX Player on my Note 10.1, unmounted my SD Card from my S3 and mounted it into the Note 10.1.
The files weren't playing properly, so I unmounted it from the Note and mounted it into my S3 again. All was well. So I thought.
I went to the gallery, only to find that, instead of giving me the folder overviews like it usually did, it gave me black boxes without and folder names either! So I closed it, stopped it using the app manager within settings and I tried to open it again. No luck.
So I cleared the data of both the Gallery and Camera apps and it worked for a brief moment. And froze again. So I decided to search about and found a thread on a forum. The person had similar issues to what I had, but his device was set to unofficial, despite the fact he said he hadn't rooted it or anything. So I looked at my device status.
Lo and behold, it said unofficial, despite the fact I hadn't even installed the damned xda forum app on it, let alone use ChainFire's rooting mastery on it! The forum said that booting without an SD Card fixes this. So I did, and it worked. But I tried to put my SD Card back in, as it contains all my data, but Gallery kept freezing on me.
What the hell is going on?!?!
CONDENSED VERSION:
Wanted to.play some files from my SD on my Note 10.1, didn't play properly. Put the SD Card back in and Gallery freezes and device status is modified. Help?

does the sdcard work properly on the pc? try formatting it and put it on fat32 file system.
if i were on your place i would just do a factory reset and flash the same stock rom from odin(on both devices). that way you can isolate the problem, the sdcard.
Fixed the issues, backed up my photos, music & text messages and formatted the crap out of the card. Copied data back on, rebooted & voila, Gallery is working again and its back of 'official' status
Thanks for the advice any way Pita

Hi,
Lately I've been having problems with my SGSIII.
Problem started while I was on CM10.2 stable.
At one point (after a few days), every time I tried to download a photo using any browser, the download would be unsuccessful (gets to 100% downloading, then error's out saying "Download unsuccessful.").
I tried multiple browsers but didn't help. Some of them said the SD card is inaccessible, but I have no external SD card (had it before, but removed it).
Also, I noticed that the photos I took wouldn't show up in the gallery (would not load thumbnails or show photos), and every new photo I would take would not appear listed.
So I thought that was a CM10.2 bug, and exchanged it with a stock based ROM (NeatROM 6.1), but the problems persisted, except now it shows old photos in the gallery, but every time I would take a new photo the Camera app would freeze.
Transferring files from a PC has no problems, and the Internal Storage shows 3.5 GB of free space.
I tried clearing the data of Gallery app, Browser, tried wiping cache/data/dalvik, fixing permissions over CWM, but nothing helped.
Any suggestion what could cause this problem and how could I fix it?
I checked the forums and googled the problem, but haven't found a solution.
Thanks!

Tried a couple of other things and it didn't work, so I had to resort to reflashing stock firmware. Reflash managed to fix the problem, but too bad I didn't manage to find the culprit of the problem

Every so often when I take a picture, it corrupts. I can't figure out what causes it, or if it corrupts immediately or later when the phone goes to sleep. Images showing the corrupt files attached.

Are the pictures being saved directly to the phone or a sd card? If its through an sd card, you can try to format the card within the phone and see how it goes. However, if the pictures are being saved directly in to the phone, no bueno. The first V10 I had had some issues and all were resolved by doing a factory reset. You can try that, but if you are still within your return period, I would exchange for a new V10.
Directly to SD card, which is actually the 200gb from the promo. I tried deleting the camera folder and will see how that goes, but a format is next. I didn't have any issues saving directly to the phone when I tested it.
Also, something very weird, I took a picture of a keychain to test and it showed up fine in the gallery app. However, if I opened it larger it would show properly then corrupt as I was looking at it very quickly--it basically turned the picture grey. Very strange.
This is still driving me crazy. Going to try formatting the SD card tomorrow, but not sure what is the best format type (fat? NTFS?).
What bugs me most is I can see the image fine in the gallery app, but when I open the picture it shows fine at first then slowly becomes black or grey in square chunks all over the image. No idea what the cause is.
I submitted a replacement e-mail to LG. It seems the card is faulty, as I can't get any programs to format it properly, and trying to transfer files to it cause it to give errors pretty consistently. I'll go back to my 64gig for now I suppose, and see if it works any better in my tablet. 64gigs should be more than enough, but annoying either way.
Wonder if the picture is originally being saved in one format. But when you open it, the phone than closes and trys saving as a different format?
I'd format the SD and than let the phone save pictures how it wants to. Dont try forcing the phone nor camera to save them as a certain format type.
So, I updated to MIUI 10.1.3 (Official Pie update) a couple of days ago and I've noticed that whenever I open the Camera app and try to switch to video, I get a huge delay, before I can go on about capturing anything.
There is a 5 or so second delay, before the video window shows up and another 5 seconds until the video capture button becomes responsive.
I fiddled around with the Camera settings and it turns out that the "Save to SD Card" setting is responsible for the lag. Considering I've always been saving my shots on the SD Card and I've never had this issue before the Pie update, I'm inclined to believe that the problem doesn't come from my SD Card.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar, before or after the MIUI 10.1.3 Update and is there a way to fix this without having to turn the setting off?
I am having the same issue after change save to sd card, mine is even worst, the camera only start running after 20 seconds change to video mode. i am using micro sd SAMSUNG EVO PLUS 64GB.
If you want this resolved, you should report the bugs you have found (with video to show it) to MIUI devs directly
I am having the same problem
Same issue! Pushing record button and dont know is it started, then realised that phone is lagging. Im using save to an SD card option. Im still new with this phone.
I have problem with portrait mode in rear camera, take the photo but no apply boke effect
Hi,
I had the same problem and realized too that it came from saving photos on my SD card (a Samsung Evo 128 Go).
I solved (= bypassed) the problem using the Magisk module "Fbind" (I put the instruction "from_to DCIM DCIM" [without quotes] in the config.txt file to put in the folder "storage/emulated/0/fbind").
Now, I still save my photos on my SD card but "cheat" the phone by making it believe it saves photos on the internal storage ("Save to SD Card" is now disabled in the configuration of the app).
Everything works fine now for me...
Ok, so i was about to start a new topic about this problem when i found this.
Now, the last reply is 5 days ago suggesting to "cheat" the camera by faking save to internal storage by magisk.
Is there no official, normal fix for this yet?
Is this problem reported to the devs already?
I'm facing the same problem. I sent the thread link via feedback app. I hope they solve...

I'm facing the same lagging time for video recording
Did you find any solution rather to 'cheating one"
Thanks
