hi guys
I used titanium backup to backup the original email app on my gt 8.9. I later uninstalled it and as a result my social hub its not working any more. I try to restore it with titanium but it sucks. I was hoping there is a way to get my email app back.
thanks in advance.

Hi shahinfarhadi,
I extracted the original TW e-mail app from my GT-P7500 (ROM P7500XXKI) before I put the stock HC 3.1 e-mail app on it.
The requested files are odexed, according to my knowledge it might require a deodexing process before they work for your rom version. As far as I know you need the framework from the corresponding Rom for deodexing.
Could someone confirm my "deodexing assumption" and maybe she/he has a guide for deodexing on
hand

Thanks a lot Thanks Meter
i see if i can make it work

Does anyone have the NON touchwiz email app and widget? I HATE the touchwiz look for this particular app and widget. I have searched but have been unable to find anywhere it has been posted. Thanks!
I completely agree. I did the TouchWiz update this morning and I can not stand the gigantic look of everything.
Am on the same page with u guys ... its blindwiz

Only changing the apk doesn't work.... Someone got an idea? Maybe a dev?

Think I might check this out, looks clean. However, are you required to install K9, or will the paid widget work with the stock email and gmail clients?
Has anyone found a way to revert back to the stock email app (Non- TW)
Thanks...
I completely agree! Do we know of anyone working on this? It hurts to use the Samsung version.. Will try k9
Working Solution
Hi Guys (and Ladies of course),
I extracted the stock HC 3.1 e-mail app out of the Acer Iconia Taboonay 1.1 custom rom.
And the best thing is that it is working on my GT-P7500.
Your tab needs to be rooted and the system partition must be mounted as R/W
I used ES File Explorer for the file operations. Any file manager which can get root access and mount the system partition as RW should do either.
Go to the directory /System/App and make a backup of following files (for your own safety):
email.apk
email.odex
exchange.apk
exchange.odex
After backing up you can delete them from /System/App or move them wherever you like
Now copy the files attached in this post to the /System/App directory, reboot your tab and enjoy the stock HC 3.1. email app (including the widget).
brgds

I had to clear data and cache for both Exchange Services and Email - but all worked nicely. Many thanks.
I'm on a Tab 8.9 WiFi, incidentally.
Would someone mind posting screenshots of the Samsung email app? I've read in a number of threads about how it sucks, but haven't seen and am curious. Thanks!

My camera is still working (10.1). I didn't touch the phone.apk (until now...), just the e-mail.apk and the exchange.apk

I found apk files, but I can't find odex files (I have rooted SGT 10.1 7500)?
Thanx
If you don`t find you might have a deodexed Rom -> you won`t find the odex files.
Imho you could try to proceed without the odex files - but at your own risk!

Hi to everybody,
I just bought a P500 and started to work on my own modification.
I already rooted the phone and installed a custom ROM (GB).
Before this one I got a Huawei Ideos 8150 (froyo); the contacts application of this phone provide native management of the contacts groups allowing to set ringtones, send group messages and so on.
As you know this functionality is missing in P500, so I would like to know if it's possibile to use the apks from my previous phone.
I already tried to simply install the ContactsProvider (I deleted the apks from the rom before installing it) using adb but I get this error:
INSTALL_FAILED_SHARED_USER_INCOMPATIBLE
I tried to follow these instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111476
but after that when I launch phone or contact it says that the application is not installed....
Is there any way that I can make that contacts manager working on P500?
I know there are many other contacts manager on the market but this is not the question...
If I'm in the wrong section please move the thread in the right section.
Sorry for my bad english...
Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion but K9 Mail Does not work with MS Exchange account, also there is no option to disable the Pin code request.
So K9 Mail is useless for me

for MS exchange, try Touchdown. it is good with the usual slew of bells and whistle for a typical push mail app. I disabled my push as i prefer manual syncs.
Thanks for the proosal, but I tried the different applications, and the one that work for me is Stock mail.
Does anyone have the standard Email.apk and Email.odex that came with the phone? Titanium Backup messed up mine.

done and done.
Thanks happily for your help.
I replaced both files, with the appropriate permission, on my phone and rebooted but still I can't recover my mail
Any idea on how to recover my stock mail?

Hey guys! I'm looking for a download of the AOSP ICS Email application to install as a replacement for HTC's mail app on my unrooted HTC Sensation. I tried searching XDA, but all I could find were flashable zips to fix the system app. I'm specifically looking for a regular APK that I can install without root. Anyone who can help me out?
Reason (optional reading): the ICS update that HTC pushed out contains an Exchange ActiveSync related bug that causes the phone to "forget" the sync shedule, and only plain text is supported. These things were working properly on Gingerbread, so how this got past QA is beyond me.
Here you go.
Make sure you delete the original email.apk and exchange.apk from system/app.
Place these two files in there with root explorer or similar.
Reboot. You may get some force closes (I do). Go to system menu and applications and delete data from email and exchange.
Open email and input your info.
Edit: You will need root to replace the files.
Oh well, I guess it was about time I rooted.
Thanks for the files, I'll let you know how it goes!
Hi
is there an 'official' website where we can download the latest version of the ICS AOSP email & exchange apk? and maybe also the other AOSP apk?
I'm looking for the version that will work with AWLPG
Thanks a lot
BenG
got it now
Enhanced email from the market is what you want if you do not want to root.

Does Enhanced Email solve the connection errors which came in with the ICS AOSP version?
I have a rooted Verizon SIII and it worked for me.
thank you.
Thanks !! I was looking for this since the Email.apk bundled in Galaxy S3 is atrocious ....

Greetings,
This is my first thread and post here at this community.
I have a Samsung Galaxy SIII with the beta firmware I9300XXELK4_I9300OJKELK5_ILO. I've read at this forum about an APK that can be used to add more programs to the native MutiWindow View that this FW has. At the same topic it is written that you have to use some odexe or deodexe.
Actually i dont know what is odexe or deodexe and i dont know how to install it on my device.
Can someone please help me and guide about how to install it properly.
Thank you very much!

If you did flash the original leak it will be most likely odexed (as mine is), deodext are usually all the custom roms (stock and others) as it is easier for modifications. You can also Google and will find a lot of explanations.

download the odex file from the MW threat and flash it in CWM. Do NOT extract the files (e.g. meta-inf etc.)
