[Q] How to flash the original ROM?(HK official ROM) - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Now, I am using the CM7.1 ROM but the camera isn't work!!! I don't want to use the CM7.1 anymore and I want to flash the the original ROM(HK official ROM).How can I get the ROM and how to do that?
I want to know 'Is the way to flash original ROM same as flash CM7.1(put the CM7.1 into sdcard and setup)?'

Can anyone help me?

Yes. The process of flashing Stock ROM is same.
Here you can find the your Stock Rom/Official Firmware...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278

I have read this post before. He did that by used Odin.He didn't put the ROM into sdcard. This is the point that I don't understand.

odin do it from ur pc/laptop
cwm do it from sdcard
different file types
just dont know will he update the telecom nz firmware or not ==
have been looking for a long long time...

You means I can follow him to flash the rom?

If I need the ZSKG2,do I need to download XXKG1 too?
(I can't find XXKG1 to download in his post...)

Just download ZSKI3 from the link above:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
This is quoted from the link above, to ease you off:
ZSKI3
Firmware info
PDA:ZSKI3
PHONE: XXKI3
Date: 23/09/2011
Android 2.3.5
TGY (Hong Kong): http://www.multiupload.com/LAWZ135UF3
ZSKI3 Stock Kernel: http://www.multiupload.com/RH5K6JPH44
Password: [email protected]
After that, follow the steps on "Flashing Firmware with Odin" from the post.

Now I just need to down the ROM of ZSKI3 and the kernel of ZSKI3?I don't need to comprehend the XXKI3?

No. You download the official kernel if you do not have a USB jig available to you and you want to remove the yellow triangle at boot.
If you have a USB jig, skip the kernel.
Just download the big ROM file then flash it in the PDA section of Odin. It will automatically flash ZSKI3's firmware, modem and CSC into your phone.

Trying to flash stock HK firmware since encountering a boot loop
Sorry for posting in this old thread but I didn't feel comfortable starting a new thread. Hope everyone doesn't mind!
I am trying to deal with a boot loop error and wanted to get the official stock HK firmware. I didn't prep for this unexpected error properly but I don't have any info I can check under settings since I cannot get back into the main menu.
I got my phone in HK but I took it home to be on a Canada provider. I got it around Nov 2011. I am sure I had Gingerbread and I think it might have been Android 2.3.5. I DID NOT have any custom rom on my device to begin with.
I'm trying to find the difference between official firmware ZSKG2 and ZSKI3 and which one I should get. Does anyone have any insights?
Does anyone also know where I can get it?
The files became non-existent on this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278

www.samfirmware.com. register for free. Then enter your phone details, and you can get all stock roms.

Thanks Spiralzz! I was on the samfirmware site before without registering and I cannot find anything that matches Gingerbread. The matches I found are all Android ver 4.
I will try that and if I have any questions, I will come back on this thread.

Hey Spiralzz - I am on samfirmware and I cannot find lower than ver 4 for Android
I keyed in
Model: GT-9100 Samsung Galaxy S2
Country: Hong Kong - TGY
But it only had
Country/Carrier Date Android PDA CSC
Hong Kong 2012 August 4.0.4 I9100ZSLPP I9100OZSLPP
Hong Kong 2012 April 4.0.3 I9100ZSLPG I9100OZSLPG
Hong Kong 2012 March 4.0.3 I9100ZSLPE I9100OZSLPE
Hong Kong 2012 March 4.0.3 I9100ZSLPE I9100OZSLPE
I'm looking for the stock version I originally had, which should be Gingerbread. Would it still be okay if I used any of the above?
I was following the instructions under this thread:

Thank you all!!
I figured it all out! I got out of boot loop! No need for response. Sorry for spamming everyone...
Just wanted to say:

[Q] Help for a Newb?

Hey everyone, just recieved delivery of my SG2 today, scared that i do not want to brick it or something. Its a Vodaphone Australia I9100T version.
Looking to root it, all seems straight forward except for the kernal to download and flash..., from the CF-Root posts.
My
Kernel version is 2.6.35,7-I9100TDUKF2-CL264900
does that mean I just pick the KF2 one from CF's posts and it should be right?
Am I missing anything, ODIN - flash it and its done?
How do i take a backup of my original kernel?
Cheers
It's pretty hard to brick your phone if you follow instructions. Easier than jailbreaking an iPhone, in most respects. Here, follow this link, I rooted mine last week at work and it took like 15 minutes. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Hey,
i too have a galaxy S II from vodafone in australia.
under *#1234# it says pda is I9100TDUKF2, phone is I9100TDUKF2, and the csc is I9100TVAUKF2.
To root my device do i choose the XXKF2 generic or stock kernel from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 ?
Or do i use the frankenstein ones? (Im not even sure on the major difference =X) I only ask because the CSC doesnt quite match up with any, and as this is my first and recently new android phone i dont want to brick it ><
In my opinion you should use CF-Root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Just read post 1,2,3,4 and just follow the instructions and nothing can go wrong. And yes you should pick the KF2 kernel.
Lennyz1988,
Does the difference in CSC matter? aka VAU for mine, compared to the OXA on the KF2 kernel in the link you gave? another nooby question.. should i use the kernel provided in the CF-Root link you gave, or one of the ones from the other guide?
cheers
You should pick the kernel from the thread I provided. In post 4 is the kernel you need. But read the other posts first of course CSC is not relevant at the moment.
Another noob here. I have the Vodafone (UK) version and I've upgraded it as far as I can with Kies. I now have:
Baseband: i9100BUKE1
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9100BUKE5-CL227058 [email protected] #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.BUKE5
I would like to root it and ideally (if I can find a way to back up an restore reliably) flash a non-vodafone-riddled-with-crap ROM on it.
I read the instructions on how to flash the kernel rom to root it with CF_root, however they don't seeem to have the any version for KE5 (or am I wrong?). What are my alternatives for rooting?
Thanks
thanks for the quick reply Lenny1988,
hopefully i dont stuff things up, but i did get the KF2 kernel from the 4th post as you suggested. Does it change much that my phone is the I9100T and not the I9100?
cheers!
UPDATE : so i went ahead and did it, tis currently sitting at a screen that appears to be a battery charging. Hopefully all is well =\
UPDATE 2 : so all went well, got the triangle, followed CF-Root and removed it. now i have a rooted stock galaxy S 2, cheers Lennyz1988 for the direction

[Q] Firmware update problem - only Kernel changes

Hi all,
I followed the Guide posted by Intratech about updating and have a very strange issue with the update shown in the guide. (I can't post in Dev section since I'm new)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Sorry if my use of terminology isn't perfect, this is my first Android device.
I have a factory unlocked and non-branded Samsung Galaxy S2. It came with old firmware so I followed this guide to update to ZSKG2 Stock Kernel (the latest non-Frankenstein firmware shown in the guide).
The single tar *should* update my pda+phone+csc as mentioned in the instructions – however only my Kernel Version changed, everything else is the same. Detailed specs after update below:
Kies says:
Current Firmware: PDA:KE2 / PHONE: KE1 / CSC: KE1
"About Phone" menu says:
Android version 2.3.3
Baseband I9100XWKE1
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100ZSKG2-CL361136 [email protected] #6
Build Gingerbread.XWKE2
Label on phone (under battery) says:
Model GT-I9100
SSN: -I9100GSMH
Question:
Why did only my Kernel version change, when that single tar file is meant to contain pda+phone+csc. My baseband and build version and all others are same as before I updated.
Any idea what is happening here ? This isn't normal right ?
That would most likely be due to flashing the kernel and not the firmware package. The firmware package would be the one above the stock kernel and file size should be 269.23 MB in size.

Wow, yes indeed that was the issue. I read the thread like a dozen times, but I guess I didn't understand the distinction between firmware and kernel. Thought they're the same thing -_-
Got a related general question on updating, given my phone is non-branded shouldn't I get a non-branded firmware ?
Most of the firmware I see in the list is from a specific country, I just successfully updated to one firmware called ZSKF1.
Is there any chance to have a non-branded version of ZSKG2 or shall I just wait for Android 2.3.4 ?
Thanks
The firmware in that thread are not branded, they are unbranded firmware for different regions.
Ok I see. One more thing, I was asking some things on an IRC channel and I got the idea that it's dangerous to put a firmware of one region different than the region or CSC of the phone.
Is this true ? could it brick the phone ? If not i'll just go ahead and install the OZS (Hong Kong) version of ZSKG2 in the guide.

My phone screwed up yesterday and I starting having these same problems. eventually I found the way to fix it- full factory reset.
I know it seems drastic but it sorts everything. Use the code *2767*3855#
I updated my non-branded S2 to ZSKG2 firmware - OZS (Hong Kong) version found in the guide.
Then I did a factory reset after for good measure by putting the code Silently posted (*2767*3855#)
Everything works perfectly. Thanks for the help

[Q] What Firmware to Flash?

Hi,
I have a Telstra (Australia) Galaxy SII with the version information :
PDA: DVKF4
Phone: DVKF2
CSC: TELKF3
I found the thread which contains the links to a number of different firmwares
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
There are so many version there, I don't know which is appropriate for my phone.
Telstra has not released an update and there seems to be no plans to do so. The phone is still at V2.3.3. Great network, crap customer service......
I would like flash the phone with a genric rom so I can receive updates.
Can anyone advise me on what ROM I should use for Australia?
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
John

Charlie,
Thanks for your reply.
I found the Telstra section and I am still confused.
This is what I found:
Australia
DVKF4: http://www.multiupload.com/UAZPBM0XAS
Firmware info: PDA DVKF4| PHONE DVKF2| CSC:TELKF3
DVKF4 Stock Kernel:http://www.multiupload.com/91ID4RZEMO
Password: [email protected]
What is the difference between the downloads?
I assume the first link is the ROM I currently have in my phone. What is the Stock Kernel?
Regards
John
PS: I need an idiot's guide.

The first link includes the rom (stock im guessing) along with the second link, which is just the kernel.
Are you trying to flash a custom rom, or just official, because the download link rom is probably no different than the one you currently have on your phone. (if you havent flashed any rom yet)
If you are trying to flash a custom rom, I dont think any custom rom allows you to get the official update. (might be wrong)
I see.....
What I am looking for is an official generic ROM that is suitable in Australia.
I used to have an SE X10 before it died and I had a generic ROM flashed from the DaVinci site.
This thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 has a truck load of official ROMs and many Frankenstein ROMs which I assume are the custom ROMs.
My understanding is that if you flash with a generic ROM, you will get official ROMs when they are released by Samsung and you don't have to wait for your doppy carrier to provide a their cutomised version.
Is this correct?
Yes. If you flash one of those official firmwares from either of Intra's threads, you should be able to receive OTA updates via Kies. You can also use a PC app called Checkfus (search for it on here) to get official updates normally available via Kies (if you can't get updates via Kies for some reason).
P.S - For future reference, questions go in Q&A

Dont flash the Frankenstein firmware then:
+++++++[Frankenstein Firmwares]+++++++
These packages below are not official firmware packages, they are Frankenstein package created due to demand for Firmware with different CSC and modems and also leaked firmware packages. KIES will not recognise the firmware so you won't be able to update to new firmware using KIES unless you flash back to a firmware meant for your device first. Otherwise there will always be Odin to use for updates

S2 I9100XXLP6 downgrading problems

Hi,
my sister is having a problem trying to downgrade to stock rom after she put a cusom rom (I9100XXPL6) on her phone and is having some issies with it. she didnt take note of some vital information before she flashed it and i think she didnt follow steps properly and she did not backup her phone.
currently her phone says the following when doing *#1234#
Phone bought in UK
PDA: I9100XXLP6
Phone: I9100XXLP6
CSC: Unknown
Build: January 17 2012
she has tried going to stock but it soft bricked her phone so she reflashed her phone with I9100XXLP6 and got it working again, i asked her where she got the rom from and she does not know, the phone was flashed when not rooted etc, as the guide she used said that it didnt have to be done, also she cannot remember what guide she followed.
all i know is that she had 2.3.6 and that her phone was from phones4u in the UK (guessing unbranded) and flashed it though odin (she cannot remember what she done, i guess she had Kies running maybe, i read alot of other posts). i have checked the thread for stock roms but all the links are multiupload which is not longer valid as we know.
i have never flashed a galaxy S2 I9100 and i have never used the phone at all. if anyone knows what stock rom to use and if they can mirror the relevant files it would be appreciated
have looked at [GUIDE] Fix an unflashable or soft bricked GSII but the kernal and bootloader links are multiupload and can only get the recovery package
i have experiance flashing phones and tablets just not the galaxy S2, any help would be apreciated
this is the correct thread for unbranded firmwares
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
find your UK unbranded FW and flash through ODIN
Search Sammobile to find stock firmware to flash via Odin.
sammobile firmwares all have the correspondent new firmwares bootloaders. so if you flash a FW from sammobile you won't be able to reset the custom binary counter via a Jig. download from Intratech's thread.
oh, and you do not have to follow the soft bricked thread if your phone is working.
just download a FW, put phone in download mode and flash using Odin.
Do what the others have said but make sure you read all the instructions! There are a few howto videos here http://galaxys2root.com/category/galaxy-s2-root/. Just remember your UK phone is the International i9100 model. Good luck.
Thanks for the help, I git the phone back to stock rom
