In the main settings menu, under LOCATION, I find the possibility to locate my Flyer. The user manual, however, does not tell how that works - any hints on that matter?
You need to add an "HTC sense" account in the "accounts and sync" settings menu (if you haven't already done so in the past). Then visit www.htcsense.com from a computer and log in with those details.
For some reason, the location has never worked on my flyer (it tells me that I haven't enabled the location settings - even though I have) but the other functionality, such as remotely wiping the device seems to work.

Ah - thanks! I haven't bothered registering with them, yet. Maybe it's worth a try...

Most of you may already realize this but I just experienced a little oddity related to the HTC Taskmanager's "X to close app" feature. I was trying to change my Activesync settings to download older emails and all msgs instead of partial but everytime I closed out of the settings page it lost my changes. I then realized that I had set the plugin to close apps not just hide/minimize when I hit the X's. Of course, the box within the activesync settings is actually an "OK" but it still results in the plugin closing the activesync settings without saving. I turned off that feature temporarily and it allowed me to tap "OK" without losing my settings. This may be too basic a tip but maybe it will save someone some trouble out there.
So here's my problem....
With my old EVO 4G, this worked fine.
I get the EVO 3D, and set up my Google Apps account as an Exchange Mail Account and go about my day. I eventually start to realize that inline images (like a screenshot pasted into the sender's message body) will not show. I get a grey box outlining where the image should be. Clicking the option to "Download Images" goes through the process like it's downloading something, but when that completes, I don't see any images. Leaving the message / mail app and coming back also changes nothing.
I call up HTC and ask. Turns out the first guy I talked to could not find that topic in his help topics lists, and had to go ask people. He came back with the suggestion for me to use a 3rd party mail app like K-9 or TouchDown in order to get my mail. ...HTC saying to use another program because theirs doesn't work... weird.
That is not acceptable to me. (plus the fact that I couldn't get K-9 to connect to a Google Apps Exchange account.)
Other apps like TouchDown just seem silly and impractical, and I don't like the idea of adding some 3rd party app to do something that my phone is supposed to be able to do to begin with. (excessive)
I talk to HTC again after I figured out that it's just with using Google Apps accounts as an Exchange account on the phone, because if I set up the same email address as a POP account in the stock HTC Mail app, I see those images. If I have it set to prompt me to download images, then I'll see a blue ? in place where the image is recognized to be, and it shows when the images are downloaded. (No blue ? was shown when set up as Exchange, and no image was shown after 'download' finished.)
This guy seemed to actually understand what I was talking about, even tested it himself with his own setup, but ended with feeding me the phrase that he was going to be escalate my 'ticket.' (No, I haven't heard back on the topic)
Long story short. I recently had an issue where a client sent an email with a screenshot and a description in the body that referred to the image. I received this on my phone, and since this client hasn't had the best reputation of providing details when explaining things, I replied asking for details that were already in the image.... ...the image that I had no idea was there.
SO. Does anyone know how to get inline images to work with the HTC EVO 3D using Google Apps as an Exchange account?
I've resorted to using the Gmail app but that is also undesireable, because that is now mixed with my personal account and I have to manually switch accounts within the app each time I check mail. Also, you can't create an Android shortcut to a Gmail account inbox like you can with the HTC Mail accounts.
Also, with the latest update to the EVO 3D (I'm using the de-odexed stock ROM update of 2.08.651.2), I've noticed has removed a few things from some key settings menus:
1. Camera options no longer has Shutter Sound = off option
2. HTC Mail app settings for POP account no longer has option to choose HTML vs. Plain Text even though 'format' is listed in the decription for the "Send & Receive" menu)
Again, my EVO 4G didn't have this issue. I understand the versions of the Mail apps are different, but shouldn't things get better with time?
Thanks for your time, hopefully someone can help figure out the images problem, By not being able to see/know about content, it's starting to affect work, and that is a problem.
Hi,
I just installed official Gingerbread 2.3.6 on my Atrix and I realized an option inside security menu.
I have an "Admin Notification" to select inside Device administrators menu.
If I check the box, device ask me if I'm sure about that and show me that this app can wipe my device, change password, define rules, monitor unlock attempts and lock screen. What exactly is the use of it? How that can help in my device security??
I searched internet, but I didn't find any results about this administrator embedded in motoblur.
Tks,
When I use the stock email app, instead of enhanced e-mail, for my work exchange it installs 1. Used by help desk to keep data safe during security breaches....or to GPS down my phone 4 me, or wipe it if report it stolen. Not the only thing they can do but.........my experience

Correct that's a Microsoft Exchange (Outlook Web Access) feature.
Cheers

I have an HTC one phone that is set to use my Google mail, contacts, and calendar. The issue I am having is with Google contacts.
If I change a Google contact from my Google account online, that change gets reflected in my phone.
Conversely, if I change a pre-existing Google contact from my phone, that change gets reflected online.
The problem only comes in when I "add" a new contact but is fine if the contact is added online.
However, if I "add" a new contact via my phone, it does not go into Google contacts unless it is later copied there with a separate procedure. Instead, my HTC One (Android v4.1.1) puts the new contacts into the phone's internal contacts, thereby creating a separate list of contacts.
How do I keep this from happening and gain the ability to add the new Contact directly into my Google account?
This is the HTC One forum not the One x forum

First things first.. (this is a screen shot of the 'add new contact' screen.) Under where it says 'CONTACT TYPE' make sure you have 'Google' selected.
Yeah.. That's pretty much all I got.

Unbelievable! This has been driving me insane for months. Even a forum post on Experts-Exchange and an earlier one here didn't turn it up. That's fantastic, thank you!
Do you know how to make it the default?

Glad it worked.. As far as default, that I'm not sure. Even though mine is set to Google as the default now. I'll dig in the settings a little more. It may just stay after you set it once until you change it again, but not sure.

Whenever I tap on a location (e.g., address in contacts) AT&T navigation takes over. I don't even get a choice to select a default. I disabled AT&T navigation, but this didn't help - selecting the address doesn't do anything anymore. This is all on a HTC One with stock rom.
Next I rooted the device and flashed the latest CleanROM 4.0 from 7/31. This rom doesn't have the AT&T navigator. Unfortunately, it still behaves the same (selecting an address in contacts doesn't do anything). On all of my previous Android phones I was able to select Google Maps as default. This doesn't seem to be possible with the HTC One (at least with the roms I have tried). I also tried using a default app manager without any success.
Any suggestion on how to enable google maps as default navigation up is appreciated.
Open Google Maps, select the arrow icon at the top and start typing a contact name in the destination box. It's a round about way of accomplishing the same thing you seem to be after. There's no way to set Maps as the default any longer.
Thanks jdk2. It's not a perfect but reasonable workaround.
I am wondering about your statement that there is no way to set the default anymore, though. After all, AT&T Navigator is used as default if you don't disable it. If AT&T can bind their stuff, it should be technically possible to bind other apps to it.
Come to think of it, this might be an issue just with contacts. Any other app that deals with addresses allows me to pick Google Maps.
