Hi all, first thing, I'm not a SGA user, my girl is [but she doesn't know a bit of english]. Second I did a search and didn't find this nor something similar.
So the thing is, some times, whenever i call her or she calls me [I mean not only my but anyone she calls or call her], the phone [SGA] freeze and needs to reboot.
Is this a know issue or just happens to her? And how can this be solved? It's not rooted, no flashed, modrom, everything is stock.
Thnx.
I guess its stock froyo, ryt? Flash gingerbread firmware using odin.

I'm not sure they'll want to help you if your running unofficial firmware.
chances are they wont have any idea where to look either lol
do you just need to know your number?
what ROM are you guys running?
Same thing happening here. In phone status in settings the phone number says "unknown."
Running leaked JK6 stock.
Doesn't seem to be causing in problems, but it would be nice to fix it. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm using the JK6 ROM. Yeah it just wont show the phone #. I'm just worried that when the official 2.2 does come out I wont be able to get it OTA since my number doesn't show up.

you'd be better off just going back to stock firmware for an OTA update.
they have a tendency to soft brick non stock phones.
also most custom and leaked roms have OTA's disabled anyways, which gives you only two options:
1. wait for someone to make a custom rom out of the OTA and then just flash it.
2. go back to stock firmware.
either way works.

as far as I can tell, its only that rom that has that problem.
I'm running Froyo myself (Eugene's Macnut R13) and mine shows up just fine.
There was a thread on this very topic last week.
Call t mobile, tell them, they reset something, reboot your phone.
Also, this should have nothing to do with ota updates.
When you create threads, doesn't it show similar threads?
Yeah I saw the same thread. I'm gonna give them a call and I'll post back how I made out.

I gave T-Mobile a call and I talked to a person in the Android division. I told him what my problem was and he pushed a couple of things to my phone. He then told me to take out my SIM card and restart my phone. After I did all of this my phone # is still coming up as Unknown. He told me the only thing else he could think of is to get a new SIM. I asked him if my Phone # coming up Unknown will prevent me from getting any OTA updates and he said he wasn't sure. One thing I'm not sure of though is can I Odin back to JI6 or should I Flash to JDF first then JI6. I want to make sure I don't miss to Official Froyo OTA. Other than that I guess I'm screwed.

New sim card will not affect you from getting the OTA update.i had to switch sims and I got the JI6 update OTA.so dont worry
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Thanks man. I know that a new SIM wont affect OTA'S. What I'm referring to is that if my Phone # is showing Unknown in my Phone Status, will that affect me getting any Updates. Everything else on my phone is fine. I can get and receive text messages and my Caller ID is working also.

couple questions...
1. are you on t-mobile?
2. weather your on t-mobile or with someone else, is your phone unlocked?
If you guys are locked to t-mobile then you can stick your sim card in another tmobile phone (not another android phone) I've heard sony ericson's, and some samsung's work and even an unlocked iphone will do it.
then just go to my number on that phone and it will let you program your number in.
then just put it back in your android phone and it should be back.
if you are unlocked and want to do the above steps, (this is unverified and it might work just fine using another a locked phone), but just follow the steps above with an unlocked sony ericson or samsung (or probably any other non smart phone that lets you edit your own number)
If you are unlocked, and running on a different carrier using the same number you used on tmobile, call tmobile as they sometimes give trouble porting numbers to other carriers.
if all of this fails then you might need a new sim card.
some people also got tmobile to do this OTA for them, but it did not work for everyone.
Thanks. I'm on T-Mobile. The only other phone I have is a Cliq XT. I'll give it a try but its an Android. I'll try it anyway. If it doesn't work
I'll go get a new SIM Card.

I'm pretty certain a new SIM won't fix the problem. I played around with this and T-Mo actually told me to call Samsung to fix it. Anyway, the only thing that unknown number caused a problem for me is my Verizon Fios Remote DVR app. The app wouldn't work because it is registered to my phone number and it couldn't figure out what my number is.
I'm sure it's just the problem with JK6 itself.
I haven't had any problems at all so far. Everything seems to be working fine with this ROM. I checked out everything that I could think of that my phone number would be needed for. My caller I'd is fine, Bluetooth is working, SMS & MMS are fine also. Hopefully it's not affecting anything major. Like I said the only thing I'm concerned about is not being able to get the Official 2.2 OTA when it's finally released. If I cant I'll just Flash back to JDF then to JI6 to be able to receive it if I have to. Thanks

Do you guys even read any information or do you flash blindly?
You cannot get an OTA update with a custom rom, you'll have to flash to an official t mobile rom in order to OTA.
The missing phone number under status happens in every single JK6 rom, it's one of the known "bugs" if you can even call it that. It shouldn't affect anything at all. I've only heard of it affecting some dvr app but even then only 1 person has reported it.

Did you make sure that the settings for mms are correct in the apn? I know some of the roms do not have apn's preloaded so you have to configure it yourself.
Yeah im sure the only wierd problem is that it only happeneds only when i send try to send pictures to her... its wierd...

Are you putting in her area code? I don't know why you would be able to send to other people and not her other than the number being put in wrong or her phone not being able to receive mms.

Now, I don't know much about that protectular rom, but your problem has happened to me on the stock rom believe it or not. It got fixed by me getting a new phone with stock
So I recommend re-flashing MACNUT R14 Final for it probably was/is just a bad flash.

After flashing did you reboot after several minutes cause I know some roms need to rebooted. Also, which launcher are you using?
I know this is going to sound weird and it might be just a coincidence but I had the same exact problem you were having only I couldn't recieve any text messages from my wife and thought it was a problem with a rom. I flashed axura but that didn't fix it so I flashed back to Nero. I decided to use ADW launcher instead of Launcher Pro. The second I did that, all the test text messages I sent myself came flying through at once. Again, it might just be a coincedence but you should give it a try just for the fun of it.
i have the regular launcher that came with the ROM im gonna take ur word ...

My Optimus' mic doesnt work right so I called VM and I just got the replacement phone today so i gotta return the other one.
If im running gingerbread (cm7) on my phone and it has a gingerbread kernel and I flash the stock 2.2 rom will the kernel cause any problems?
I found a clockwork backup on the forums, if I use that will everything in the phone go back to stock?
I have jury duty this week so i haven't had time to do this but I think i can do it today if i get a response
Use the back up so you get stock kernel. The only custom thing will be recovery.

Ok, so I want my phone to stop warning me that my information could be gathered by a third party.
I would like to do this so I can enable my GPS via a text message for the app "Wheres My Droid".
I am currently stock/rooted.
Thanks for any and all help!
Try another ROM. I'm using CM7 and it doesn't ask me ever, then again, I haven't had any of the annoying aspects that most have had.
You can even try another almost stock ROM. I've noticed different kernels react to permissions differently also.

**Edit**
Well now I feel stupid. I just rebooted my phone after doing a nandroid backup... and it asked the same thing but instead of "Ok" and "Cancel" it said "Ok" and "Never Warn Again"...
I wanted to change again the Baseband cause i had some problems. I used the Guide of Dr.Notor. All went well he made the Backup of nv2 fiel and started the phone in Emergency Mode. After that the program tried to write ass but now it is on timeout after 45 minutes. I have no idea what to do. Please help me. The LGMDP is already running and the phone connected. What can i do?

First of all, edit the thread's title to something more descriptive, like "Problem changing baseband"
Did the NV2 Backup complete successfully? It's the main thing, without that say goodbye to your phone signal.
Weird that 45m timeout, I changed my P500's baseband in less than 10m I think... did you follow drnotor's guide entirely? Including the part of disabling LG modem and not touching the phone until it finishes?

Yes.
Sorry for the bad title
If you have your nv2backup you could try flashing it over once again from step 1, maybe that works.
It worked. I stopped the program and run it again. My Phone is running again. The problem with error searching network on CM9 persists. The Baseband rechange doesn't bring the solution.
Now that you already have NV file if you use lgmdp always in emergency mode dont mather if you flash only bb or recovery or the entire rom but flash with phone already in emergency mode and lgmdp will not touch the nv file
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app
Good tip. Next time I make it from emergency mode.
The stupid thing is that I risk a lot for nothing, cause the baseband didn't bring me something.

The new baseband was already on my phone, but I thought that maybe something went wrong the first time and therefore I get the "Error while searching networks" on CM9. After install it again the result remains the same.

I asked few times but nobody answered. I don't see it on Bug-List and so I thought it was the fault of my phone. I like ICS and JB but as I explained on other posts I live on the borderline to other countries and I cannot live with automatic search of networks, cause It can be really expensive for me.

As said above, you will have the bug as long as you are using the junky Froyo RIL stack. This issue exists on CM7 as well since they've "fixed" the stupid 128KB SIMs by reverting the RIL stack. Messing with baseband will not solve anything for you.
http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=5182
Ask your operator to have roaming deactivated, best I can offer if you want CM9+. On CM7, the RIL can be switched back to GB, with CM9 this causes a force-close loop with the phone app -> no go.
Is there a way to check whether I have a Funny SIM Card or not? And in case I have, is it possible to let it change from provider and with which excuse?

Well, flash latest CM7, flash the attached ZIP and if your SIM does not get recognized, it is funny.
Thanks a lot.
I made all the steps and the SIM works. Now I have to hope that CM will revert the RIL to GB too, so that I can use CM9+.
You wrote that this Patch runs only on CM7 and not on CM9+. Is there in fact no chance to make a similar patch for the newer firmwares?

Sure there is, however I am not going to recompile CM9 for this, it requires patching files, overwriting the libs is no longer enough, as said above.
Do you mean mik_os git changes in the above issue link?
Easier would be that CM changes back to GB RIL.
