If I'm running bleeding edge on tsm what overclock app works the best. Or is there anything I should flash first then overclock. Thanks in advance.

Two most common are "setcpu" and "overclock widget"
Sent from my pocket rocket!
You first need to make sure you have a kernel installed that will allow overclocking.

The free version or the paid one? Cause I had the free one and didnt c what the difference was

How do I check if I have kernel installed? Sorry im new to this and someone rooted the phone for me
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
If all your phone is is rooted then you don't have an overclocked kernel. If your new id suggest staying away from the overclocking kernels. Its a known issue that not all vibrants can handle overclocking. If yours can't it will cause you problems.

So downloading setcpu won't do anything?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Before you do anything to your phone. Go to the general section and read the guide tips stickier. It will save you a ton of headaches.

does the lastest version of Axura install voodoo automatically?
if so, does dat mean i can overclock?
Yes it does install it automatically. But that has nothing to do with overclocking. You have to have a kernel that's capable of that.

Eugene has a few to choose from.

be aware most oc kernel's destroy battery life. I am currently using ttabals dragon oc kernel. I have also tried the Dow kernel. I have experienced a few hard resets.
Setcpu doesnt seem to work correctly for me and it doesnt like setting profiles.
When overclocking anything take it slow and easy.
So which kernel should I get then?

That depends on what kind of ROM you are running. Are you completely stock? Are you on 2.1 or 2.2? You dont want to flash a 2.2 kernel over a 2.1 or 2.1 over a 2.2?

He's saying that it's impossible that you're OC'd to 1.5ghz if you're using faux's because his is set at 1.1ghz.

Not much use for RM, CWM was ported to Atrix by tenfar.
SetCPU currently has limited functionality.
Here is a list of root apps for the Atrix.

What?
Setcpu works like a charm except we can't overclock yet. But I use it to underclock my phone and save battery.
But thats just my 2 cents

Setcpu works just fine.No overclocking like^ ^^^^^ said but you can still set up some profiles and play with ur current speeds to save some juice.

Voltage control is free I believe. You should also be able to find a free version of SetCPU here on XDA.

if you can get setcpu for free, do it. Its much better than nofrills. You can also under/over volt and set up profiles.

so why many people use siyah kernel or similar ones?
Overclocking. But unless your a ridiculously heavy user... u don't need too on this quad core beast
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Of course custom kernels offer undervolting.. which greatly improves battery. Slows the phone down though.. and that is if its stable.

Undervolting doesn't actually slow down the phone, the CPU still runs at the same speeds just on a lower voltage. I have undervolted my s3 by -75mv per step and it is still very stable and runs the same as before, and now my.battery life is amazing

Well...
Dude, i think i should not answer it as you are asking personally from one person....
But heres my opinion->
I tested about 4 Kernels.
And it was strange to see that none was there with 0 problems. Everyone had some or other problem.
My mission was overclocking.
No kernel worked well except Siyah.
So i will only refer Siyah.
About versions, i would choose the latest as it may have more features and less bugs.
So just go for latest.

Jaskaran probably just answered your question but I use siyah v 1.5 beta 4,.so the latest one pretty much. The stock settings of the kernel are good but if.youre looking to tweak and don'tknow what you're doing there's a good.guide in the 2ND post of the official thread
Sorry, can't link you it.. Still Under 10 posts haha
