Been checking out dragonzkiller's twitter and it looks like he is making progress on something for us x2 owners. He has been testing something out and seems llike he is making progress and now he posted this:
"to all those #droidx2 rom devs out there, you might want to start learning edify instead of amend for your update scripts."
Im just looking for answers as to what this means because Im not a developer.
Anyone know whats coming???
From what I've gathered its big for dev side mostly
Which will always be good for us eventually ..
Don't get ur hopes up for anything tho...something can always go wrong lol
Dragonzkiller will let us know if and when anything big happens. You can count on that. Until then I wouldn't worry about it.
I'm sure he is working hard on whatever it is.
What is Dragonzkiller'a twitter ?

Haha.. I just said I THINK its geared towards devs more because of what I've seen on twitter ....I didn't say any progress was being made lol.... Just that if something was going down dragonzkiller would tell us
Ur welcome though
Well lets say that if I get this done, it'll make it a lot easy for ROM devs. And it might make it easy for me to work on some... other stuff... But I really don't have a lot of time. This week has just been fluke, but a very progressive one at that.
See ...told ya lol
Thanks to dragonzkiller for taking time to try to make things happen for us
And remember dragonzkiller ...we are always ready and willing to help out anyway we can.

Hey guys :]
So a lot of you probably don't know who I am because I am a Droid and Droid 2 rom developer for the rom Epic or Epic Unleashed. I wanna bring my rom Epic Unleashed to the Fascinate but I dont have the funds to afford one. I am asking if you, the Fascinate community can you please donate so I will be able to but a Fascinate and develop custom roms for all of you. I would refund all the money not used to the people who donated it. If you would like to donate please click here and donate as much as you would like. Mods and/or admins please do not take this thread down because I want to get a Fascinate to make all your phones better :]

Just a little knowledge to the users that are out there. Right now we don't have a real ability of installing custom roms anyways, just hold on until we get a working kernel source so that we have a custom recovery. Then do what you want with your money.
I agree. Far be it from me to tell people how to use their money, but at this point we can't even get the compiled kernel from Samsung's source to boot.
If anyone out there is confident in their ability to release a product, I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest purchasing the device up front (credit card?), and asking for donations after releasing the product. Just my opinion.

Gotta agree 100%.
I'm also a little gun shy after I donated to help buy a Droid for the guy on another forum who then got distracted by other projects.
On the other hand, I'm sure Koush and Cyanogenmod get donations they haven't even asked for.

LOL get Jaked. That's funny as hell. I remember when I first got my DINC that tool had a ton of people following him and was basically full of **** and made a million claims he didn't back up. I wad one of the ones who donated and supported his BS so getting jaked is real.;-)

I would buy it up front but I dont have the money to spend right now, that is why I need the donations to be able to afford the device.

Asking someone to buy you a phone so you can develop on it is pretty shady at best, even when you dont seem that willing to help with the actual code. The work you have done seems good, but from what i can tell, you're more of a chef than a dev. I am more a chef as well, i dont know code very well, but am learning. At the moment, our efforts on getting a recovery are turning up at nothing, so asking for people to make a donation to get you a phone that you wont be able to push roms out for yet is just not the way to go. Advertise again when we have a working recovery, if we do get to that point.

Actually I am not a chef. I build from AOSP and other things. I know a lot of Java and some C++. I was not able to build from AOSP on the D2 because of several things Motorola has left out. I tried over and over. I am asking to donate so I will be able to get AOSP roms and source build things on this device. If you do not wish to donate do not. I am just asking so I can make roms better for the device when the recovery is booted and released. That is all.
Umm... get donations from the d1 and d2 work that you've already done, buy a Fascinate, create ROMs for that, and THEN (if it's a halfway decent job) people will donate without you even needing to ask them. Why ask people to pay for something that you haven't even done yet but then reassure them it'll happen because of your other work? If what you did with the d1/2 is good then shouldn't you be able to get donations from that? I'm not accusing you of trying to scam people I'm just telling you what seems to make the most sense.

Well, once again, I'm not accusing you of trying to scam. But you do have to look at this from everyone else's view and realize people are not going to be too quick to jump on this. If there's not much coming in from work you have actually already done then it really doesn't seem like there's going to be much turnout for something that, at this point, is just based on your word.
So what's the exact problem with the recovery? Some threads say that you guys are able to get into the recovery anyway?

the problem right now with the recovery is that we cannot even get a custom kernel to boot, which is the starting point for a working recovery.

This thread was prompted by a post that I read in another thread. It seems as if some members feel that development hasn't really taken off and another member suggested that it would be cool if some of the devs that are currently working on things (in their own time) would at least check in and let the community know that they still have some love
Please only vote if you're currently working on something and in your post, please let us know what you're currently working on and the status of your project (no ETA's).. for example:

Members, please do not ask for ETA's... Devs despise this... Remember, the devs that are working on projects do so for the love of the hobby and on their spare time. Make sure you're hitting that thanks button. sometimes its the only 'payment' that they really want.
Please keep this civil
Thanks for checking in

still cool that we have some participation .

I am going to get start on making a Rom for this thing and just would like to know if any could help with test of the rom or Kernel development. But mainly Testing.
You must have a good understanding on flashing and use of the device..
Please no "NOOBs" no offense but at this staging i'm not look to tell someone every single thing to do but I dont mind helping you understand what you don't know.
If you would like to help me get this out to everyone send me an email at [email protected] or pm me.

and send an email because ill forget to check here
I still use SyndicateRom Frozen on my Epic 4G. Best ROM I've ever used, can't wait to see what you guys come up with for the Prime!
I would test depending on what exactly the rom is gonna be. If it is just themed/tweaked a bit i'll have to pass. If it is actual development i would JUMP at the chance to help you out! I have owned over 20 android devices so experience is not a problem.
Im in I have beta tested on the original Transformer and several other android phones, would love to help as I dont know how to program and would like to give back to the community!!!!!
I'm in for testing, I have a flashing addiction, and am always looking for the latest and greatest.

Hey
Ive been seening "AOKP" alot instead of "AOSP" and I want to know what is it and what does it mean?
Thanks a lot.
AOKP stands for "Android open kang project". What's kanging? Take a look:
Kanging (or to be kanged) – To have one’s developer code and work taken, manipulated, rebranded, and re-released by someone else with no credit.

I disagree with Rootzwiki's stands: Open source is open source. The joy of it is modifying it. If you dont like for your source to be modified and make it better, dont make it open source/dont be part of AOSP.
I agree with you in some spots but I disagree by dont giving credits. A developer puts effort and time ,without getting payed, in a project - at least honor him by giving credit.
My knowledge is updated.

Agreed, but credit should be given where credit is due...
And usually is so don't stress it too much.
Cyanogenmod
Thanks for the info.
There is nothing wrong with working off of someone elses work, especially if you feel you can improve upon it. The only thing that sucks is most people will not give the other developer any credit. Just putting in your rom post to give someone else credit, you'd be suprised how many people will actually go to the other post for that person and just hit the thanks button.
The thanks button is there to show you appreciate what someone has done, or helped you. More or less it's like a handshake or a thumbs up...
I've done quiet a bit of work for the Samsung Vibrant and didn't recieve alot of credit. the CM7 builds of the vibrant used my GPS files to fix the GPS issue... Did I get any credit? None... Thats right the CM7 team worked off my files. Alot of other roms as well... Why? Because my GPS files worked the best... I was disappointed when I looked into the rom and saw my GPS files were the ones being used there.
As for the phone i'm using now, i've had 70 download on a new MMS.apk that I had help with. I have only recieved 3 thanks and just a multitude of people complaining about things. Hey I understand there are things wrong thats why it's still a beta and i'm working on it with the dev that made the other one for the Nexus but still... you think i'd get some thanks...
Nope..
It happens... its just life...
Now i'm gonna go get an Iphone and join the herd of sheep. lol jk
Thanks Ah Million!!!!

I don't own a Vibrant, but I wanna say Thanks!!! I don't know why people are ignorant but some just are!!! and the sad thing is the majority of people who download roms/fixes are! sad indeed. But there are alot of people who value your work and devs like you. I'm trying to find "square one" so to speak, because I wanna learn to build roms. And to be honest it's developer's like you that make me wanna step up to the plate and help with more than just a thanks
I realize we have the CM 10 thread going with decent progress. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard devs working on AOSP for our devices or rather, how close they are to getting working RIL and such.

I understand how your asking your question, and not to be rude a lot of people don't appreciate asking on estimation dates of releases. You just gotta be patient, and it will come when it comes. As far as timewise you can always check the progress of the UNOFFICIAL release here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2056517. I check it daily because I cant wait for cm10 either. As with all the AOSPs the big issue is the RIL or Radio Interface Layer its very tricky and you really need someone who knows what they are doing. Now thats not to say that the DEVs working on it don't know what they are doing its just not easy. I'm pretty sure they will get it working eventually its just a matter of time. The other thing too is that life gets in the way we all have other things to do.
It looks like chad0989 is about to jump on and help Drewx2 out with some of the developing for cm10. Which i think will speed things up. Drewx2 (and im sure a few other devs) has done a fantastic job at getting it to where it is now. It is looking like they are getting very close to having it work with the RIL (i might be wrong though)... I bet we will have a very functional ROM by the end of this month (or sometime in March)..... but again i may be way off
