Flash counter - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am aware that the SGSII has a rom/kernel flash counter, so Samsung technicians can tell whether someone flashed custom roms. Is there any info about that for the tab?

Galaxy tab has it too. It seems to count only if you flash something unofficial with Odin.

So... goodbye to warranty when we root... They will figure it out. Unless we use the same (or almost the same) hack SGSII users do.
Correct?
EDIT: I found another post which answered my question. Sorry for not searching thoroughly and for this (useless) post...
@mod: please delete. Thanks.

[Q] Rooting Bell Samsung Galaxy S II

I was just wondering how I could root a Bell Samsung Galaxy S II.
I've read some threads but I don't have any idea what they're talking about, so I was wondering if anyone could simplify it for me so that I can understand.
Thank you!
I personally use latest Speedmod, depending on the firmware you're running you can also use the specific ChainFire kernel as well.

If I used this method to root, would I still be able to install custom roms?

Yes you will be able to run custom roms. Generally speaking nothing is permanent on these phones. A kernel sits a layer below the ROM but most roms will also install their own kernel.
I'm sorry for bumping this thread, but I thought it'd be better to bump this one, rather then creating a new thread about my question.
I was wondering what the method is of reversing the rooting on the SGS II Bell.

[ Request ] Tut on flashing CyanogenMod 7.2

Hello people I'm new to the Android world. I'm currently using Galaxy Ace 2.3.4 DXKPD, the stock rom. Rooted it. Flashed CWM5 already. I was browsing the forums and saw this Cyanogenmod7.2 unofficial. It looks great! I read the howtos but I don't understand a thing its saying. What's a kernel? I'm sorry if I'm a noob or anything.
Few questions about the rom :
-Is there any minor/major bugs?
-Is this compatible with my KPD rom?
-Will flashing void my warrantey?.
And can anyone simplify the howtos? It's really difficult to underatand and I'm afraid I will brick my ace. Thanks in advance!

GPS can't get a fix on mine, so if you are planning on using maps or navigation, think again. Also, I don't think the camera is as good, doesn't have the same features.
There is a lot to learn when moving to a new ROM even just to get it to look the way you like. On the + side you get a little better performance out of it. But remember, its primary use is as a phone and it will never turn into anything else with custom ROM's. Do it for fun if you're interested or as a learning experience only...

Great ive bricked my phone!!
I've followed this guy's instruction. Got root in a few minutes with just a few clicks:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
easiest way
i rooted by using zedomax's method with zerglings.. you press like two buttons.
i have the i9100m, so not sure if it will work on "g"
he does say it will work on all varients
just search galaxys2root on google and he should be the first link
hope this helped! im a noob to the forum, but have been rooted for a month or so now

First, that's NOT zedomax's method. He regurgitated zergRush, which was the work of DoomLord and some other contributors - of which he was NOT one of. And I don't think he gave credit, either.
Second, I believe it doesn't work with newer releases of 2.3.6, which the OP is on.
Third, the OP already said he tried this method. (well, actually, he said "zerg". Pretty safe bet he meant this)

I figured you did, you asked a question in another thread I answered, where I told you explicitly to use G kernels.
However, I don't see any attempt on your part to "unbrick" your phone. Have you tried at all? Sometimes "bricked" phones are recoverable... How is it "bricked"? Does it boot? Can you get it into download mode if it can power on?

After i flashed kernel it wont boot but odin says PASS.. Idk why and i cant go to download.. Its a hard brick.. I already sent my phone to samsung customer care and i ask them if i can trade my g version for non g version, they gonna give my a new gt i9100 next week..

sorry, i knew that wasn't his method, i just meant he used it to root his phone. I wasnt meaning to give him ANY of the credit for it, although he does advertise it pretty well for noobs.
And i wasn't aware that it didn't work for the newer versions, i rooted not too long ago and it worked fine, but i don't think my carrier updates firmware often..
i was just letting him know my experiences

[Q] in need of 100% working root

Could someone help me out, i have looked everywhere for a 100% working root for Samsung Galaxy s2 i777 4.0.4 ICS, i have tried a few diffrent roots like galaxys2root and the camera wont work or the video wont work or bluetooth, thats why i am looking for a root that is 100% working, If anybody has any information on this topic please let me know because ive been searching for over a week now. I'll be watching the forum to see if anybody replys to my post, Thank in advance.
You need to learn how to search better if after a week you didn't come across exynosabuse

I never said I didn't find any, I said I haven't found any that work 100 percent, there's always something that doesn't work, you don't have to sound like a smartass when I was only asking a simple question, and I know how to search and research perfectly fine thank you..

I have a SGH-i777 and Affected Exynos 4210 devices:
- Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000
- Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100
- AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I777
so no im guessing exynosabuse wont work
Guess again. I used it, and used my phone for nearly a week before I flashed a custom kernel and rom. I never noticed anything not working. Though if you are running 4.0.4 I would suggest doing some more research here. Read, read, and read some more. Then flash a custom kernel and rom. Your phone will thank you for it.

Do you honestly think that we would all be rooted and put up with **** not working?
all the proper methods you find on XDA ARE 100% working.
what is irritating is the number of threads that have come up within the last 2 weeks asking this same damn thing, and the same damn answer has been given each time. it is obvious you didnt read those threads.
