1. why in all reviews only 8 GB available?
8gb internal + 2.5 for app = 10.50gb overall. wtf? the rest 5.5gb for system needs (e.g. sgs2 has: 11.5 internal, 2gb for apps, 2.5 for system)??? moto eat 5.5gb for what?
-answer: 8gb (internal storage), 3.65gb (for apps), the rest for system needs, motocast and webtop
2. anyone who got xt910 (international version)... so bootloader is locked or no?
-answer: motorola lied... bootloader locked on all models untill ICS
3. Will the UK version not having LTE be a big plus for the battery?
-answer: according to americans, devices with LTE are very greedy... so i think it is plus for battery...
4. Does it go with 16 gig microSD card?
-answer: it will support upto a 32GB microSD. Verizon buyers will have in box also 16gb sdcard, international model doesn't have any sdcard inside.
5. So how does that work when installing an app like Co-Pilot Live Pro? That has a 13Mb app.. and 3+ GBs of Map data.. Would I be able to put the Map data in the 8GB media partition (or a separate microSD card) like I currently do with my HTC Desire?
-answer: App storage is reserved for apps only, not app data. Just like on any other phones, the app data should be installed on SD card or internal storage space, not app storage. If 3.4GB is not enough for your apps (believe me, it is), you can also move the apps to the internal/media storage.
6. Is there a LED notification light ??
-answer: Yes. Multicolor LED.
7. does anyone know where the setting for the home keys illumination are? They don't seem to light upon while i'm using the phone....then inside some apps they light up....not sure what is going wrong? pls help
-answer: Those are triggered by the brightness sensor (left of Motorola logo/earspeaker) and from what I have tested, mine light up when I hold the phone a bit more upright. (Could also be that this way, the light sensors did get less light somehow)
8. Does it have Notification Light?
-answer: Yes it does. It is in top left, in the bezel, right next to the light sensor.
p.s. if there will be much informative questions, i will add them with answers to the first post. pls ask them in a first-post style
9. Where i can get User Manual?
-answer: http://cache.vzw.com/multimedia/mim/mot_droid_razr/droid_razr_manual.pdf
10. Is it Pentile display or?
-answer: yes, it is! motorola cheated us saying there is something zomfg advanced display that better then super amoled plus, but it is just ordinary pentile.
11. RAZR have 2 types: XT910&XT912?? wtf??
-answer: yes! 912 - for yankees (with LTE), 910 is gsm version for the rest of world (without LTE
12. Is there still a warranty if i buy the device outside of my own country?
-answer: yes. if u find any defect u can send ur device via normal mail to the shop and they will fix or replace it and send back to u (but u will have to pay all transfer fees)
13. What key combination make RAZR reset?
-answer: Power button + Volume Down only for 8 Seconds to reset
14. Removable Battery???
-answer: not, not removable.
15. is there FM Radio?
-answer: NOT! use intenet radio
16. Does pinch-to Zoom lag in the Gallery app? Much like it lagged on the Atrix on Froyo.
-answer: I saw an Italian video review and the stock gallery lagged as hell. He used quickpic instead and all was smooth . The device was a pre release btw.
17. Is this phone sux?
-answer: yes, it is. not best specifications, pentile display, bad camera...
17.1 But why then people buy it?
-answer: 'cause this is HELLO MOTO )
18. how much multi-touching does it support?
-answer: 10 touch points with AnTuTu Tester.
Webtop + System
i dun' even know what is that. hope it is something good since it requires about 3gb...
1. I saw mentioned in a few reviews that when Razr gets upgraded to ICS it will have two sets of Android buttons, capacitive and software? That couldn't be right could it?
2. Will the UK version not having LTE be a big plus for the battery?
1. Mine has 8GB media storage and roughly 3.4GB for apps. The rest should be system, Motocast and Webtop.

i think all additional data you must put on internal storage (like maps, game data, etc..) just like on all android devices
Available space=free space, not total space

it will support upto a 32GB microSD.
and in case anyone asks "what about a 64GB?"..
as of late, the 64GB+ cards are in a different format. XD instead of SD and the phones are not compatible with XD. SanDisk has said they have a 64GB microSD now, but "if" the phone will accept that is yet to be seen. possibly a firmware update?...
I have an old SanDisk Sansa player that was 4GB and supported upto an 8GB microSD... but upon doing a firmware update I now have a 32GB microSD in it.
oh and... since its called the RAZR, can I use it to shave? ;P
App storage is reserved for apps only, not app data. e.g. the DEFY had 1,5GB app storage, and the Milestone/Droid 130MB iirc.
Just like on any other phone, the app data is installed on SD card or internal storage space, not app storage.
If 3.4GB is not enough for you apps (believe me, it is), you can also move the apps to the internal/media storage as well. Just like apps2SD, which is not possible on the RAZR.
So no apps2sd BUT apps2internalstorage

I want to buy the Sony Xperia Tablet Z2, but havent decided about which one. Should I go for the 16GB or the 32GB version?
I will use a MicroSD card with it, 64GB, or if possible a 128GB MicroSDXC card. So I will have lots of room for movies, music and pics on the SD card. So, in this scenario, what is the best solution to go for? 16GB or 32GB?
All depends what you plan to use it for. You'll quickly run out of space if you install a few large apps on the 16gb but if you don't use these kind of apps/games, you should be fine with the 16gb

I am already hitting warnings over free space on my 16GB LTE device. I have about 1 dozen games and about 2 dozen small utility apps.
Problem is that the LTE only comes in 16GB variations for now.
Also, be aware that kit-kat doesn't allow free file browser control over the sdcard without root. i.e. without root, you can't manually create and move files on the ext_card (even with the latest File Expert file browser)
Connecting to the PC allows full-access through the PC file browser, though this is not ideal.
Root fixes everything.
Thanks for your valuable thoughts. This probably means I will go for the 32GB Note 10.1 2014.
I dont install very much, but its easier to have a bit more mmory then just the bare essential.
I got the 16gb version and regret that decision already. I was not prepared for the fact that the memory card is heavily locked down with Kitkat

I wouldn't recommend that. I just returned my last Note 10.1 2014.
Altogether, I had EIGHT Note 10.1.2014, WiFi and LTE variants.
ALL of them had a faulty display.
ALL of them were locked down using "Knox".
LTE versions are locked against using prepaid cards.
Rooting gets documented by an "eFuse".
Samsung prohibits downgrading to a lower firmware version.
Flooded with bloatware, of course protected against deinstallation and even stopping.
NO (!) software updates for far more than half a year.
And so on...
The Note 10.1 2014 has nice hardware (except the narrow bezels, making it virtually impossible holding the tablet without accidentally touching the screen or the hardware buttons), and the "leather-like" (which is nothing but an impudent lie) backpanel which in fact is made of extremely hard, slippery plastic), but got perfectly castrated by Samsungs malicious actions for locking down devices even more than Apple.
It's no keeper; sorry... :/
Regarding the 16/32 GB question:
Rooted Z2 (SD card write access enabled): 16 GB ok.
Non-rooted Z2: 32 GB mandatory.

Jupp, that plastic thingy made me cringe away from it the second I picked one up in the store.
I agree with the above, to bad you can't unlock the Sony without doing the bootloader altso, I'm kinda stuck in limbo with a non-rooted 16GB version and a hardly usable 64GB brand card :/

Yeah, you can move files to it true that, but fare as I can tell you cant access SMB shares true it, so you first have to dump it to your internal memory, then move it to the SD card from File Commander. Also, you can only move files and not application, limiting the SD cards immensely

So, you want to advice me to use a tablet you didnt use yourself, based on what?
The Note has its problems, and can be laggy, but after freezing many unnecesary start-up apps, it reacts much better.
And you call 630 grams heavy? Compared to my Surface Pro it weighs almost nothing.
And what is awkward about the Note 2014? Please explain what you mean with that.

About 5 hours and a little more using Sony's weak 1.5 A power adapter - via USB and charging port.
If you utilize a better power adapter (like Samsung's 2 A piece), charging time goes down to a little more than 4 hours if using the charging station (I wouldn't call this a "docking station" because it cannot do more than charging) DK39.

For video can it go direct to SD card bypassing this limited 16 GB storage? Or does it have to go to internal storage first?
Yes, the default camera app can set the preferred location for video and pictures to go directly on the sdcard. It doesn't have to go to internal memory first. Also works with 3rd party camera apps.

I am debating on this or the one plus one as I sold my nexus 5. I like the battery but I also like features of the later software versions. 128gb card would make a huge difference as the one is limited to 64gb. However, wish this mate was 32 GB internal; which should be minimum in 2014.

People have tried 64gb cards and reported them working. No one has reported on the 128gb though so we don't know if that would work (it might require reformatting the fs). There's another thread with much talk about fake ebay 128gb cards which aren't really 128gb but no one has actually said it works or doesn't work one way or the other. We're waiting on a brave soul to test it and report back
The battery is absolutely the best feature on this phone. I barely see it go below 80 in a days' use and I use it all the time. If I were to use it only as a phone from a full charge in the morning I get to 95% by the end of the day...yeah it's that good. The 720p screen is good enough for me and contributes to increased performance, smoother operations without stutters or lag and better battery life. The software updates aren't as important for me but this is the first phone I've owned which has actually received an update at all (even though it was a minor one).
Hello
I am using Nexus 7 2013 for a year now and I was thinking of replacing it. The other tablet I am looking for is Samsung Galaxy S 8.4 WiFi.
I mostly use my tablet for reading my coursebooks in pdf via moon+ Reader , Browsing, Movies and little gaming.
How is the development on this tablet going so far ?
Overall, would you recommend it ?
Secondly what is the available memory of 16Gb to the user ? 11.6GB or Something ?
Cheers

Around 12GB of free memory when you get it. I would recommend at least 32GB SD Card for it and the Lollipop version has a built it app2sd or just use link2sd like I do.
The tablet is very very very thin, compact and light. It will do everything you can throw at it the snapdragon 801 is no slouch. I've been very surprised on how well the shatter proof glass Sony makes too. So durable and scratch resistant!
Development is lacking due to the lack of popularity because Sony makes the devices expensive and hard to get. I bought my Xperia Z3 Tab Compact for $600 off eBay just after Christmas.
I'd say choose the Sony over the Galaxy because I honestly don't like Samsung. That's my personal opinion though.

Cheers mate for summing it up for me !
I also do not like Samsung for many reasons as well, like regionally locked, less development friendly and especially its UI (Touch wiz) which just lags on lower- middle end devices.
I'm divided between getting a new Nexus (the one that'd be released or just get this device )
It's one sale in the UK till may so I think I still have time to grab it for 400$(£269) on John Lewis.
Usually in May- June we see a new nexus tablet but there haven't been any leaks so doesn't seem like one in the making as of yet!
Sony makes it durable and is quite something but I simply hate their SLOW updates and little support in regard to upgrade their devices. Their software department has been really poor!
Another question on my mind is, is the 12 GB memory divided by any means . like internal and Sdcard0 with an option to expand via sdcard which would be sdcard1?

Yes , it is a WiFi version only with 16gb. 32 is 460$ and LTE version a bit more expensive.
So basically Sony has divided the 16 GB into three parts. This is what im guessing ! One for system (OS /ROM) which is around 1-1.5 GB. This is not shown in settings or via an app. You can find out if you are a developer.
Then there's internal memory on which applications are installed . This is usually 2 GB and lastly there's sdcard which is 12gb as you said before.
The memory can be expanded via sdcard1 (micro SD card) or using a USB via OTG support.
So basically there should be two internal memories. One would be called sdcard0(also internal memory in settings) and other internal memory.
Many thanks once again and I'm attaching my pictures to clarify the points I made.
The device I'm currently using has 1.57 internal and 4gb sdcard0 (called internal again in settings but sdcard0 in file explorer) and 32 GB microsd card (called external /sdcard1 )
So can you please tell me the size for internal memory as well. Not sdcard0 which you have already at 16 GB.

Here's the screenshots i was trying to post. Internal is mounted to sdcard0, sdcard is mounted to sdcard1 and usbotg is mounted to usbdisk. I have a hidden 8GB EXT4 partition and swap partition on my sdcard because I prefer it that way. If your not going to root just set up your camera to save to sdcard, and move all your large data to sdcard. Its what I did with Lollipop before it had root.

OK...you offered...I am thinking about purchasing the Huawei Ascend XT. In the specs (phonescoop) I noticed 16Gb internal storage with 8.4 "open" usage. That's 7Gb of factory installed bloatware? #1. It's a FM receiver which requires wired headphones to be connected as the wire functions as an antenna too.

I haven't bought the phone...yet. I'm in need of a new phone and it's just one of 3 o r 4 I'm considering. Doesn't almost 3 Gb's of bloatware seem like and awful lot? It does to me. One other item of question: I noticed and it very much caught my attention, in the specs it states: FM Radio-YES. Is this an FM receiver (local FM radio) or just Internet Stream FM?

Hey Madvane20.
I'm using stock ROM on B170. My phone only has 8.55GB of internal storage available. From the advertised 16GB. I only have 0.44GB left. I really don't have much on my phone. But as a result of low storage I can't have all the apps and games on my phone that I want.
.how can I expand the internal storage to be more like the 16GB as advertised. What's the highest amount you have available on your phone? Do you have more than 8.55GB on your ROM? If you do how much and link to ROM plz.
Because as you know we can't install aps on the SD card. Or do you do that?
Thanks
Uninstall apps you don't need that take up internal storage, use the storage manager to clear apps caches, move data including music, pictures and videos to micro SD, set apps to store their data in micro SD where possible. Can't do anything else that I am aware of. I usually have 1GB free internal storage after doing this and have to do it regularly.

RE: Madvane 20
First, you need to know that no matter what, there was never 16Gb of memory. They (all electronic storage) "say"-advertise 16gb (or 8 or 2 or 64...etc) but in actuality there is only the nearest binary unit number closest to 16Gb. 16 Gb is actually 16.384 Gb or 16384 Mb.. Got you confused? OK, all storage is designated in "bytes" (one unit of storage) and bytes use the binary system when computing their size/storage capacity. Therefore an "advertised" 16Gb is only actually just slightly more than 15.9 Gb. If your not sure what I'm saying, use a conversion chart for Mb to Gb (or vice-versa) and remember that your dealing in the "binary" code. Then , on top of that, manufacturers set aside a certain number of "sectors" to account for bad/defective sectors that may occur when manufactured. Thus, it would not be unusual for 16Gb to actually only be about 14.7 Gb (or so) of actual usable storage space. Example...I have a "16" Gb pendrive that has 14.5 Gb of "actual" storage capacity on it. If the doesn't make sense to you, look up "How electronic storage works" (google-bing...etc..) Next, look up just how much "space" the O.S. on you phone occupies. Then, after deducting that number from the "actual" storage capacity, you'll be able to determine just how much "bloatware" you may have on the phone and you can -CAREFULLY- start eliminating some of those apps. This will open more "storage space" for personal use, (Mb's) on the phone. One last thing...you can put apps on an SD card. Now, that said, SOME SD cards are not "compatible" with certain phones and that may prevent you from being able apply the apps to the SD card. Some PHONES do not recognize the SD card as "internal" storage and thus, you have to re-format and change the SD card designation to "Internal". And a lot of "bottom-line" phones just don't have the hardware or firmware capabilities to handle this. Now, have I got you thoroughly confused? don't despair...you can easily look up all I've said and read and understand it at your pleasure.

No you don't have me confused at all. Thank you for the response Madame. Sorry for the late reply. Well I think today is the day I will finally root and flash a new ROM. As im tired of EMUI and no adoptable storage.
Can you link me to the ROM you reccomend? I want adoptable storage. Not that much bloatware. Full functionality, including camera, wifi, netflix, wireless display etc. Also I want a little more available RAM if possible. I want adoptable storage. Please reccomend a ROM.
One more thing. I've seen that the Samsung Micro SD cards above 32 GB are working for this phone . But I may pick up a 32GB or 64GB Sandisk micro SD card. Will the Sandisk be just as compatible as the Samsung? I plan to simply get an Class 10 of 95mb read speed and 10mb write speed. Like the Sandisk ultra or the Samsung evo cards. Thank you fam.

Sorry i called you Madvane, Rick new here
What's up. I'm new to these parts of the forums. I have downgraded from s8+'s and now I'm on the H1611. I have your b180 room installed on my device and for the life of me cannot get Xposed to install without dealing with the constant boot loop. I know it takes something like 20 min. I've read somewhere but an hour is ridiculous. I have tried flashing through TWRP and I've tried through Magisk and no luck. Any idea to get Xposed installed?
Current:
Your b180 room
Rooted with Magisk
Another thing is it normal to have ram at like 300-400mb free? This phone feels super sluggish and I think MIUI is far too heavy for this phone. I agree with the folks in here that want lineageos. I'll search for a branch or source tree to see if I can get something going at least. If not I'll join the club with trying to build a tree. This phone has "0" snappiness whatsoever. A friend's LG Leon lte feels way faster than this BEHEMOTH of a phone
epikroms,
You might want to post in the H1611 Xposed thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-ascend-xt/help/xposed-huawei-ascend-xt-t3536003/
several of us have Magisk Xposed installed and working.
Well, I actually have it installed now and haven't posted here since this part of the forums are a complete ghost town. I was gonna share my current build for this device but seeing from the lack of anything here I'm not gonna even waste time releasing it to the general public. And thanks for your response but it would've been easier with just providing some information rather than making me go through pages of nonsense. But the response is what matters. I will be returning back to a real device shortly because this phone is not as snappy as everyone says and nor is it as good as everyone says for it's dollar. I bought this phone and a brand new Samsung j3 and kept this phone because I hate Samsung but now I really wish I had kept it. So good day/evening. I am out....

Well what information exactly were you looking for? Installing Xposed is not a one liner and can get a bit complicated with all the different versions.
You could have written up what Xposed version you installed and how you did it to help the next person - that's how forums work.

Exactly so, why was your reply opposite of what you are telling me? And it's quite obvious that there is only the magisk way of installing it. I'm not trying to argue with you man. I asked that question a day or 2 ago and I noticed that no one really was even cruising around in the forums so I said to myself what the heck, might as well keep trying things on my own. Also, noticed developement has come to a complete stop a while ago. I honestly thought this place was deserted. It's all good though, like your thread says, to ask you anything, so I could get pointed in a different direction haha. All good though, case closed bro later.
epikroms,
It's not my thread - madvane20s thread. Yep, slow around here cause the main party is over since the devices are low volume/low-mid range and been out for a while. Enjoy your J3.
So I'm wondering if anyone has tried. I have a 256GB card already that works fine but I'm running out of space (Yes I'm carrying quite a lot of music with me and yes I do see it as a good thing) my music collection is bigger than 256GB and would like to carry more so that's why I asking.
I know the max is 256GB but I don't know if that's down to hardware (and card slot) or what
No one?
From my knowledge it's only up to 256, so if you get a 512, it may not work. Sorry haven't tried it yet, but as per the spec of poco it's only up to 256. I had a different phone before, a galaxy a8 2018 which suppprted up to 256 as well and when i tried my friend's 512gb it didn't recognize it, so most likely same will happen with the poco

you can use a 512gb sd card, but as soon you reach the 256gb full, files will get damaged and sd will fail to be recognized by the phone...

I would also have like to use a 512GB card. Does anyone know why this limitation exists? Is it a hardware constraint with the card reader, or a firmware or O/S constraint? I naively thought that SDXC compatibility would allow anything up to 2TB, but it's clearly not as simple as that.

That was definitely not my experience with other phones. Usually cards with higher than phone rated capacity work just fine.
From my understanding when phone manufacturers say up to 256 gb SD card supported they are saying that cause at that point of time that's the highest SD card available in the market. Most phones that can support 256gb will support higher capacities too.

Interesting video - thanks. So in theory a FAT32-formatted 512Gb SD card should be supported by any phone that supports FAT32 and SDXC? It's a shame there isn't a more recent video which tries 512GB cards in current smartphones.
In older days, when external storage limited size was 32Gb some Motorola's users (including me with Rokr Z6) used to divide 64Gb as two 32Gb mountable partitions.
You can try it too.

lucky you, or maybe i was using cheap cards on cheap phones ?
I have a 512Gb Huawei memory card on my Poco F1 working fine, I haven't reached the 256Gb capacity because I've just received today. But so far so good ?
Lexar 512GB 633x (black / blue) from Aliexpress is working fine. At the moment 217GB is filled on the card.

Sir,
Sir,
I don't know if you have found an answer to your question as of yet but I have. I've purchased several different 512gb cards knowing that I had some use for them somewhere. The fact is that the Poco F1 does see 512 gigabytes... And then down the rabbit hole we go. After about 20 to 30 minutes of you installing the card and moving over all kinds of information, the Poco F1 begins to forget things. That's the only way I know how to put it. all the sudden some of the stuff that you have moved over to the card is not reachable even though you still see some of the shortcuts or some of the things that point to it depending on what program you're using and the next thing you know after about an hour and a half two hours it also can't find those either and then some of the program start to crash. These are not programs that I have you some third-party where to move over to the card at all. I didn't move over any software to the card I'm just talkin about moving over some of the things that it was to the card. and then you'll notice after a few more hours that the card is unreadable. The way that you can fix this is to go ahead and put it into any computer and I used a program called mini it's a freeware program to recover the lost partition. then I put it right back in the phone and at first the phone fights with and everything else but you can get it to look at it and see it again only to repeat the exact same problem over and over and over again. The problem seems to be exacerbated if you were to use a torrent program to save data to the driver's if it was a download folder from multiple sources at once. I tried everything I could. I even tempted fate a little bit by saying if I could use aparted the cell phone version in order to partition the drive into two different types of partitions one of them course being the f2fs partition I was trying to see if I could successfully divide the memory card into two partitions so that the computer or cell phone would see them as two separate entities does relieving the problem of it seeing larger than 256. this was not successful though I cannot promise that I did everything correctly. I would greatly appreciate any information you happen to have about this. I have several of these 512gb cards and some of which I saved a lot of money on some of which I spend a lot of money on but they all seem to operate the exact same with the exact same problem. if you had any suggestions on how to add that to a Asus tablet that I'm now having the exact same problem with and much lower micro SD card total capacity sizes than the Poco F1 s I would greatly appreciate that too. The Asus laptop that I'm dealing with is an Asus e203m and it comes with 32GB of real special fast memory that uses hard drive and so you can see we're picking this up for almost nothing is a great deal provided that you're a little tech-savvy can work with clouds quite a bit and hopefully find the solution to the problem and adding a 500 gigabyte micro SD card. The problem is that you can't partition those the way that you'd like or you think that you could. but for me I really love computers and love to turn branches on the weekend so to speak. I'd also love to learn anyting you might be willing to share about partitioning and the like.I know that windows will only see the first partition of a microSD card. but then who wants to be limited to just Windows anyway.

I have Samsung Evo Select 512 gigs and been using it since 6 months.
I have it full almost 90-95%+ full everytime as i load a lot of movies in it. During the time of writing it was 97% full.
It is formatted to exfat and is working perfectly.
There is no data loss or anything like that after 256 gigs.
I hope this answers all your questions.
