Hi,
Has anyone tested whether call recording works? In case you didn't know, there IS an API for recording calls, however it silently fails on most phones. Apparently on some it does work:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2117
According to that bug report the Galaxy S can do call recording, so maybe the S2 can too...?
we had one working on the s1, really hope we can see one here soon

I have installed total recall on my galaxy s2 and it works but I can perfectly record with loud voice the opponent but i don't hear my voice.. very strange, it is the opposite of Galaxy s..
I have tryed also Call recorder widget but it doesn't record anything.
Some other experince?
Just wanting to keep this alive. Total Recall records the remote voice great but not the local (phone mic) voice.
I did see on another thread with the S1 replacing some system files, from a Taiwan ROM? Is this not possible with the S2?
Thanks for anyone attempting to fix this. Otherwise, I'm happily surprised by this phone everytime I look at it
There is another thread on this already.
'callrecorder' from the market (green android icon) records both sides properly.
It doesn't use the speaker phone to record so it s great quality

Callrecorder By Dsoft works great, yes the one with the green android
Thanks guys, will test tomorrow!
Another +1 for Callrecorder By Dsoft. Installed it and works great.
Great news! You just pushed me to buy this phone
Yessss callrecorder works good so it means with galaxy2 you call record perfectly both direction, but it is too simple as software missing of many settings... Is there some more complete call recorder for our galaxy s2?

Hi.
Just today I founded this app: VoiceRecorder and works perfectly for my SGSII.
Different from Calrecorder is that this app don't show any icon when ready for recording
and also is for free
DarkyRom2 XXKI3 Base ( 2.3.5 ) comes with an in-built call recorder which works very smooth , you can hear both sides very clear and it has a button in the call screen so it's very easy to use ..
it works!
one more app that works!

so which is the best? any of them work on bluetooth?
also WHERE is the callrecorder by dsoft I can not find it in the market. anyone have a link or an apk if no longer on the market?
found the dsoft one via google search.
odd he has 3 that all appear the same 2 free 1 $3 but support appears lacking and apparently it has issues with file corruption you won't know about till you find a file it did not record.
consensus on which is the best/most reliable. I don't mind a pay app especially if the quality and transparent (record all calls to sd) automation is good.

As far as I know call recording will not now nor will it ever work over bt. The drivers don't support it
Hmm it must not be accessing the hardware directly like it does on the touch pro2 - since on that unit it records no matter what I use to make the call speaker handset or bluetooth.
Pity
Is this a hardware limitation or a software limitation?

I think both. They tend to remove it as it is illegal in many areas unless you tell them it is being done before they say anything. I used to use it myself till a buddy of mine found the recording while we were looking over my phone files to troubleshoot an issue and as a lawyer he adviced that I stop using it right away or I could be sued lol
I am having a strange problem with incoming calls.
The voice quality is very bad with the other persons voice being "metallic".
However, no such problems in outgoing calls, and other people can hear my voice fine.
I called up my network operator, and they tell me I need to switch off "Clear voice" setting in my phone.
However, I went through all settings, and there is actually nothing with this name.
So is there such a setting?
If not, can I try upgrading to latest firmware. Actually, I have not updated my froyo (I am still on 10b), as I do not want to loose capability of rooting.
I think latest is 2.2.2 (10e). I am not sure if its rootable.
Any ideas?
I don't think there is such option in optimus one, try to switch to 3g network if you use 2g, but compared with other phones my optimus one output sound quality is bad. I don't think that you can do anything but if you find a way to improve sound quality let me know.
do you experience background static noise? because I cand hear a background buzzing noise everytime the sound is on.

Ask to talk to someone technically savvy who knows WTH are they talking about next time. There is no such thing anywhere and frankly I do not recall any mobile phone that would have such thing like "clear voice".
2g and 3g have nothing to do with voice quality... oh, and the background static is a bug of all O1s, unfortunately.
Voice quality is dependent on the price of the device, so a budget phone generally means poorer quality... only Nokia had perfect reception on their low-end models... just my 2 cents.
Maybe that operator got his features mixed-up and he was referring to HD Voice - I know Orange launched it in a few countries, but that's a whole other thing.

Ah, speaking of HD Voice, do you think devices NOT bought from Orange could use it?
Also, have you noticed that, during calls, there seems to be some form of noise reduction going on? If the person you are talking to is in a quiet(er) environment, and they stop talking, the speaker goes completely silent, whereas when they are talking you can hear the normal (IMO) GSM background noises.

Actually, many devices support it at this time, since it's a codec-related thing and not a hardware one (and it's not proprietary to Orange, it's a standard that will be implemented in time)... It's rather tricky to make an assumption about your O1, since I really have no clue if the appropriate codecs are included on our phones, if they are activated etc.; just ask someone from Orange (although I'm sure that most will not know the answer).
Here's a very interesting article detailing HD voice tech, written by Eldar Murtazin: http://www.mobile-review.com/articles/2010/hd-voice-en.shtml.

Yeah, that's normal, I have encountered it on many phones... it's probably related to the passive noise cancellation algorithms our devices use (where they try to make out what part of the sound received in the mic is the voice and which one is the ambient background). It's a really long discussion, since when the mic receives a sound lower than X dB it cuts it out, then as soon as it detects a more powerful sound it applies a kind of gain (hence the static) and so on.
Oh, note that these are all more like educated guesses, but I think they're pretty correct.
Now, with active noise cancellation... well, that's just another world! (I had the pleasure of a few conversations with a phone that supported it)
There is no static.
Its just that, from some networks(not all) when I get incoming call, the voice is "metallic" and keeps breaking, even when signal is full.
So its impossible to have a conversation.
I guess its a problem with my network operator then.
In Hidden Menu (3845#*500#), under
DEVICE TEST->SOUND TEST-> VOCODER are the settings that affect noise reduction and bad call quality but I do not know what parameter disables sound processing on calls.
Also on page no.55 in service manual, there is this text and I hope that it can be useful to someone with greater knowledge to change parameters and turn off noise suppression, and that stupid hiiiisss sound during call.
3.13.2. Audio signal processing & interface
3.13.2.1 MSM7227 audio interface
The MSM7227A audio front end comprises the stereo wideband codec, PCM interface, and additional DSP
audio processing. The stereo wideband codec allows the MSM7227 device to support stereo music/ringer
melody applications in addition to the 8 kHz voice band applications on the forward link.
In the audio transmit path, the device operates as 13-bit linear converter with software, selectable 8 kHz and
16 kHz sampling rate. In the audio receive path, the device operates as a software-selectable 13-bit or 16-bit
linear converter with software selectable 8 kHz,16 kHz, 22.05 kHz, 24 kHz, 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, or 48 kHz
sampling rate. Through software, the Rx path can be configured as either a mono or stereo output. New to
the MSM7227 device is a transmit (Tx) ADC path that now supports stereo wideband sampling. The
integrated codec contains all of the required conversion and amplification stages for the audio front end. Th
codec operates as a 13-bit linear codec with the transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx) filters designed to meet ITU-T
G.712 requirements.
The codec includes a programmable side tone path for summing a portion of the Tx audio into the Rx path.
An on-chip voltage/current reference is provided to generate the precise voltages and currents required by
the codec. This circuit requires a single capacitor of 0.1 μF to be connected between the CCOMP and GND
pins. The on-chip voltage reference also provides a microphone bias voltage required for electret condenser
microphones typically used in handset applications. The MICBIAS output pin is designed to provide 1.8 V DC
while delivering as much as 1 mA of current.

I've had the Note (AT&T) since not too long after it hit the market with AT&T. The Gingerbread release worked quite well, but I had heard "great things" about ICS. The day that ICS became available, I loaded it and was ready to be seriously impressed.
Instead, I'm quite let down. The additional "bloat" put into ICS to provide some changes to TOUCHWIZ are simply not worth it to me. What's worse the Bluetooth stuff has been changed enough, and in certain ways, to make it problematic for me now.
I have a vehicle with an integrated Bluetooth system. My phone is always paired when I'm in it, and I never make use of the audio profile for playing music through the stereo (but it's connected anyway). Under 2.3 / Gingerbread, everything worked fine. With the 4.0.4 / ICS software, audible notifications while paired to the system sound "choppy" (can't think of another way to describe it). The sounds stutters when the phone is attempting to notify me of, say, an incoming email message.
When the phone is not paired to anything, the notifications are fine.
I had an opportunity today to pair the handset to a completely different device and find that the issue follows it. It is absolutely not a hardware problem because it worked fine with GB. The issue is also not my vehicle because, again, it worked fine when the phone was running GB.
What I learned today, with the new BT device, is that the phone is actually attempting to provide the audible alert through BOTH the phone's speaker AND the audio profile / BT. On the device I had paired today, the sound through the speaker is the same sort of choppy notification it has been, but the sound through BT seems smooth.
There are no settings in the BT area to tell the phone to not use Bluetooth for audio. Does anyone know about this issue? More importantly, does anyone have a fix?
I too have that issue. Maybe a développé une ould look into this.

I use both the audio and phone BT profiles on my car stereo. It took me a very long time to enable audio. I have no clue what worked. I do know that you can see what is enabled by tapping the gear icon next to the paired item in the paired item list.

The problem isn't in getting both working... The issue is HOW the phone works when both are enabled. There's almost certainly a bug in the ICS code that needs to be corrected.

My mistake. I shouldn't have mentioned my troubles. They masked the fact that I mentioned how to disable individual profiles by tapping the gear. You can uncheck audio there.

Yep. That works to correct the problematic issue of "it sounds funny when both are enabled", but it emphasizes the fact that there's an issue with the way that Samsung's ICS for the AT&T Note treats the Media audio profile whether it's active or not...
I was wondering if there is a way to adjust the bluetooth sensitivity on the rezound. The problem I am having is that callers claim they hear everything, I am crystal clear but they can hear all my movements and the big problem is that if I am using while a game is on, music, etc, even when I lower than my normal usage volume they say my tv is way too loud. I have looked through all the settings and unless I am blind I have not found a native option, is there maybe an app? I know the issue isn't the phone, it is the bluetooth because I had the same issue using it on my ps3 but the ps3 has sensitivity options in the mic settings so it was an easy fix.
Thanks for any help

Hello,
I didn't find other references about this one.
I noticed a really poor and crappy performance when Bluetooth is connected to my audio car system.
I experience subsequent and short connection drops/re-connections, also during phone calls.
In addition:
- audio volume is very low, also when all pumped up.
- I don't get recent inbound and outbound calls and contacts lists sharing.
It's a pity. Other devices work flawlessly, even some old (non smartphone) GSM devices.
Is anyone experiencing something similar?
Thanks for any info.

That's strange, I have BT constantly on as I have the phone paired with a Sony Smartwatch 3, plus I exclusively use my Jabra BT headset during my long commute for music, videos and calls and never had a single problem with the volume level, connection and sound quality.
I had the same problems you have with a damn expensive HTC M9.....
Yeah, that's strange, I suspect the audio system it's just choosy... It's likely that the phone will work OK if I try some other BT device.
I'll do it when possible.
This was just to check if someone else had the same issue.
Thanks!
Yes, I did notice the relatively low volume when I connected the phone to my Vw stereo in my car.
1. Low volume for both music and voice calls compared to my previous phone (ip5c)
2. Also the phone has a problem with avrcp profile, so it cannot display the song name/metadata on the stereo screen !
Connects to car ok but doesnt load the contacts.
ive just discovered this problem also it connects to my sony car system fine but will not load the contacts unlike my sony z1 compact.

This app seems to fix all issues:

I have the same problems in my Skoda Octavia 2015 (no ID3 tags, not possible to change track by the steering wheel buttons, sometimes stuttering, quite poor audio quality when calling). The Honor 7 works perfect with the Skoda, the iPhone from my girlfriend as well.
But I connected the OPX to a Renault and there it worked faultless.
So I don't know where's the problem... maybe the OPX doesn't support all AVRCP versions?
In my Kia AVRCP works with PowerAmp and Deezer. But I still have the same problem with contacts and calls list.
