Camera APK - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is anyone able to extract the camera.apk from regualar samsung rom? i am using the super osr rom it is using the pure android and it is working extremely fast i love but but the camera app is not good and it doesnt work with video recording.
Can anyone help me out with replacing the camera app? thanks guys

You can get it back by downloading the stock rom from somewhere and extract the camera.apk in system/app directory. Post your base firmware version, someone using the same firmware here can help you. As camera app is not firmware dependent ill upload mine later.
Edit: HAve attached the file, paste it to system\app\

any help on this topic would be appreciated. Thanks!!

[Q] pulling camera app from SH

Hey guys, I just flashed MIUI (1.9.23) for the first time and i'm loving it so far. one of the only problems is that i'm missing the option to take panoramic pics on the camera. Is there any way I can pull the hacked camera from SH 5.1 and have it working MIUI? is there something special I have to do or can I just rip it right out of the SH rom? Thanks for your help guys!

Unless there is some dependency in the framework or another app you should be able to copy it over and install the apk. It can't hurt to try it.

Stock amaze camera apk

Can't find anywhere someone have it
Pull it out of one of the stock roms??

I don't have a computer and not downloading a full rom for one apk
not sure if you keep track of the energy rom thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29296568&postcount=4353
silentbutdeadly posted the apk.
Thanks for linking to that post, but the high quality camera mod posted by dark nightmare here also has the stock camera app, but modified to take higher quality pictures. If you are using stock, or even a rom that is supposed to have the mod, flashing this assures it is installed properly. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1708749
And don't forget to hit his thanks button if it helps ya
For some odd reason I can't post in that thread.

Tried installing it by simply running the APK from the ES explorer. Didn't work . Can anyone please tell me what I should be doing?
Just to be clear, I want the stock APP the comes with the t-mobile ICS. It was beautiful!
On HTC Amaze with Energy ROM.
Place the stock camera apk in /system/app. Delete the camera apk you already have in there, change permission to the match the other files then reboot.

Worked! Turns out I didn't actually need to "install" it, just putting it there does the job.
But I'm back to HQ one again.
Thanks!
ok,really liked the stock camera that the htc amaze came with and cant find it anywhere. Does anyone have it? The one above isn't working.

if you want I can send it to you by email. But if you have a backup of you stock rom, just open system zip and find the app in system/app
One thing you must to know : you must have an HTC based rom for to use this app. If you try with CM or another rom, it can't work.

[Q] Flashing... uh "un flash"??

So yesterday I flashed the photo sphere that actually worked but then I flashed the zip containing 4.2 clock, keyboard and photo sphere that is not functional and replaced the functioning camera... if there a way to "un flash" the camera so I can flash the functioning one cause I tried to flash it again thinking it would simply replace it but no dice ( don't know/ want to mess with build prop) or should I just restore to a couple days ago?

the photo sphere camera is a camera.apk. just go to system/app delete camera.apk . then go back in and flash the photosphere camera you had working. Should have no issues.
The regular camera comes up and not photo sphere...or is that photo sphere?I don't want to mess with the stock camera making sure I don't delete it by mistake

if you have both installed you can use the archive explorer to look inside of it and see the name of the photo sphere app that you want to install. Also the name of the one to un-install.

Can't get camera apk to work?

I was trying to pull one camera apk from 1 Rom and install in another by extracting the camera apk and putting it in the system/app of the other Rom and overwriting the current camera apk and installed and even though it installs it force closes when trying to use it. First time I've done this on the DNA but this is how I did it on the galaxy nexus, is there something else I need to do to get this to work? Any help is always appreciated
