[Q] How to prioritize texting only to mobile phones - Motorola Photon 4G

When I go to send a text message, aka starting to enter a number to text, too often it tries to make me text a home phone and I have to go out of my way to select the mobile phone.
How can this be resolved, whether by telling the message app to ignore home phones or at least prioritize mobile phones as #1?

I believe you can set the default number for each contact in the stock contacts app.
Just go to the details of a contact and long press the number you want as the default. It should be an option in the popup menu.

Message (SMS) was send from which Nr.?

How do I see from which number a Text Message (SMS) was send?
Here is the problem: A friend of mine wend abroad and is using a different mobile phone number. I saved the new number in the contact file under "Home2 phone". Now, if I recieve a text message I actually dont see were it came from, do I?
(Even after clicking on the Message it opens the contact but shows the mobile phone number, not the one it was send from.)
Thanks for anwser
When receiving the message, all you can see is the name of the sender.
When you click on the contact, it shows you only the mobile phone number because, theoretically you can receive sms messages only from mobile phone numbers. A stationary phone number cannot be used to send sms
Torque77: Wrong. You CAN either send and receive SMS from fixed lines in most EU countries. And Rose can handle it without any problems.
Gipo: Just hit Enter when the received message is selected. Contact card will open with proper sender's phone number highlighted. BTW in threaded messages is enough if you just simply hit "Reply" - it will be sent automatically to correct number. (In fact, every number - even different number of the same contact - creates a new thread).
EDIT: OOPS, you're right. It just shows the card without highlighting the number (having a look I saw a last call, not the message). Then only way is direct reply in the thread then. Nevertheless, it's simple and reliable.

Sorry then. Guess Moldova is waaaay behind and this chapter.
No problem... Just an reminder. Nevertheless, you can't be sure, if it is a phone able to receive it (again - some operators forwards SMS as a voice message then).
At least at the moment you already know, that Rose can send SMS on ANY phone number stored with contact - if you have somebody e.g. with more mobile phones.
Yes, if you just choose a contact in the list and select "SMS" by right-left arrows, the mobile number is used. But if you hit Enter in Addresse field in empty SMS form, select an user, Rose will show you all available phone numbers for the contact and is able to send the message at any of them.
thanks guys

[Q] voicemail (voice mail) question on # of messages left

I came over from EVO 4g and whenever someone left me a voice mail, I'd see the number of messages overlaid on the voicemail icon on my home page. If I had 4 message the number 4 would be overlaid. When I pressed the icon, it played my messages from some storage location on the phone, not by calling into voice mail.
Now when I get a voice mail message, I get an obscure looking text from a 9016 number. When I click on the voicemail icon (widget) from my home screen, it says I have no messages. If I call into voice mail then I can get my message.
What's up, why don't I have the counter anymore and why aren't my messages not stored on my phone anymore? I'd sure like it the way it was... is there an app for that??
OK, I found the answer in an obscure place, but it worked for me and I have exactly what I want! This was taken from the Sprint site.
Having VVM issues (getting a text from 9016, and you use Handcent)?
We are in contact with Handcent, still trying to connect with Go SMS. Use these instructions if you are having the issues.
If you have Go SMS you will need to disable the "disable other text notifications"
If you have Handcent, you will need to go into Handcent, press menu, settings, application settings, default messaging applications and then check "disable".
•1. Go to dial pad and hit *38 Talk to cancel any call forwarding.
•2. Power off the device and remove and replace the battery and power back on.
•3. Update profile by hitting Menu – Settings – System Updates – Update profile (try to leave yourself a VM)
•4. Go into the visual voicemail application and compose a visual voicemail message (Hit Menu ••à Compose) of 5+ seconds and send to [email protected].
•5. Test to see if visual voicemail is working again, and if the top 4 items above do not solve the issue, I recommend you call *2 and talk to a Sprint Customer Care Representative. Typically if Visual Voicemail is not working, it’s related to the initial provisioning not getting setup properly.

Google now call contact with several numbers

How can I call a contact that has several phone numbers? I want to do it without having to touch my phone, only through voice but I can't find a way to do it. I tried using the structure call + Contact name + work / main but doesn't work and if I just say the name it opens a window to select the phone I want to call, but I have to select it manually. Any ideas?
PS: the same thing happens sending sms through google now.

[Q] FREE texting over wifi; but keep number

I have used a variety of wifi texting services like Heywire, Textfree, etc. The problem is that I am assigned a new number. I don't have data, so even though I might explain to people to text me on my mobile carrier's number (I get free incoming) so that I can receive it wherever I am, they always end up getting confused and texting my wifi texting number and then wonder why I don't receive it right away (because I might not be connected to wifi when they send it).
I need an app that can text over wifi (so I can avoid charges) but uses MY phone number. Even if it doesn't actually use my phone number, I don't care. But as long as it forces the person getting the message to reply back to my mobile carrier number.
I tried mysms, as well as ChompSms, etc; but they all charge to send over wifi to users that don't have the app. And What'sApp and others like it forces the end user to also have the app.
The fact that there are apps like mysms and ChompSms that send sms messages over wifi with your own phone number to anyone that can receive sms shows that it's possible.
Does anyone know of a COMPLETELY FREE one?
Oh, and about mysms. It syncs everything together and just fine, for free. I am talking about purely wifi texting (NOT through my carrier... my carrier charges me 10 cents per outgoing text; incoming is free). Here is what I did to try and set it up.
Settings > Websms connectors
Chose: Mysms out
brought to Google Play Store, downloaded Mysms out connector.
Opened Mysms again
Went back to Settings > Websms connectors
Chose: Mysms out
Checked off "Enable mysms out"
Then I went to create a new message to someone, and tried to choose the "Mysms out" option, but it's always greyed out.
Do I need to add credits? Is that why it's grayed out? If I click on "current text rates" in the mysms out settings, it says "The current global text rate is $0.12 (international only).
I took that to mean that the US and Canada is free and that if I was to send texts internationally it would cost 12 cents.
I just want something that is free for basic texting in the US and Canada.
I tried using Beetalk too, but a) I don't understand how to send an sms in the app AT ALL, and b) I downloaded the Beetalk connector for for mysms's websms to send an sms through it (supposedly it will use my mobile number but through wifi only?) but I can't figure out how to sign in. Nothing will work.
For example, when I "sign up" in the Beetalk app, I enter my phone number and my name (which then is my username?) and it sends a confirmation number via text to my phone. I enter the confirmation number and then it logs me in. But in Mysms, I check it off to enable it, and then attempt to enter my username (at least what I think is my username?) and then I've tried the confirmation number as the password, my "BeeTalk ID" as my password... I have no idea. How do I know my username and password? BeeTalk doesn't even require a password. I tried logging out and then clicking "Log on", but then it gets me to do the process over again; phone number, name, confirmation number; then logs me in.
I am SO confused! Any ideas? I tried contacting the developers, but no response to my problems yet.
Can't do it
Found my answer for mysms. No texting to Canadian and American numbers: mysms.com/en/mysmsout
Any ideas on what else I can do?

[Q] Is it possible to redirect a call to one number to a different number?

I have a very minor issue, but one that I'd like to solve, if possible. Here's the scenario:
My wife calls me from her work line, and the caller number shows her company's general line - (212) 555-1000. If I go into the dialer and dial it back, I get an operator.
However, she does have a direct extension, (212) 555-1010 - both numbers are under her contact (so I can quickly see that it's her calling). If I miss a call from her, I simply remember to go into the contact and choose the direct number instead of the main number.
What I'd like to know is if there is a way to tell Android when I try to dial "main number" under contact "wife," I really mean "direct number."
I doubt there is a way to do this as it's probably a security issue, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
Any ideas?

You can use Tasker to create a profile for this situation
Install Tasker
set Tasker as a device admin:
Settings --> Security --> Device administrators --> Tasker
then in tasker create a new profile:
(+) --> Event --> Phone --> Missed Call
when prompted to enter a caller # hit the magnifying glass --> A Single Contact --> Choose the contact number for your wife's "main number"
then click on the back key and ---> New task (add a name to the task - optional)
now add an action to the task:
(+) ---> Phone ---> Call
When prompted to enter a Number to call, hit the magnifying glass and choose your wife's "direct number"
don't select the Auto Dial option. Then hit the back key twice till you are in the main menu of tasker.
Now every time your phone get a missed call from that "main number", you'll be prompted to call back the "direct number" when unlocking phone.
Just delete the main number form your contact. Then the only option to dial is the direct number..
