Internal storage help please - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

So, my phone has no mods on it, and its not rooted. I have alot of music on the internal storage (until I get an external card) and its annoying me because not all songs show up... when connected to a pc, it shows I have it but when i turn mass storage mode off, media scanner wont find anything. I used 'rescan media' from the market to see if that worked but no dice.

Where'd you get the music that's not showing up? And what format is it in?

It was right out of my music folder I use on my computer . Some are also right our of the folder iTunes reads out of. (Copy and paste). They are all mp3. I also see that media scanner never says 'media scanning finished' anymore. It worked until today...

Most times media scanning will only show up after a reboot or something is deleted. Not in day to day use. If the music you're having issues with is from iTunes, it may have drm protection on it, specifically for not allowing it to play on another device.

That's what's weird. It did play before. Also, media scanner just pops up whenever it feels like it. Even during music playback

Fixed. Had to do a factory reset

[Q] Media scanning

Is there a way to force the media scanning? I know it runs when you connect your sdcard and when you boot the phone (when it is mounted), but I have an FTP server that I torrent on and download the files to my phone and the music won't get picked up until I run the media scanner.
So I need a way to force the media scanner other than unmounting and mounting the sdcard.

App called rescan media on the market, that's what I use for my media scanning needs.

[Q] Windows Media & Thunderbolt?

Hey all. First time poster, first droid ever (rooted Thunderbolt). Just a question about syncing music and videos with windows media.
I just happened to see my thunderbolt show up in Windows Media Player when I changed my USB connection type to "Disk Drive" so I tried syncing some music to it.
First off it shows up as having only 1GB of space free even though there's an icon in the upper-right corner of WMP that says 29.7 GB. Is there a reason why this is so? In explorer, the SD card comes up as 29-ish GB free.
Also, is this the actual way to go to sync media to my droid or should I be using something else? (I haven't installed that verizon app).
And another thing... shouldn't my Thunderbolt show up when I choose Media Sync as my connection type?
I just plug in my device, put it in disk mount mode, and just drag and drop to a folder I created (Called Music) the phone searches your entire SD card for music and I have no problems, adding, deleting, or playing any of my music.
Thanks. That's what I'll do instead.

Just an update... I've been using Winamp to sync my music with my phone and while the wireless sync doesn't work consistently, it works plugged in to usb and... Well it's Winamp. Chalk one up for nostalgia.

I use DoubleTwist to sync music to my TBolt. You can even get an app to sync it wirelessly.

The WiFi sync works for me, it's just rather slow so I only do it if I've added like... one album...
But yeah dude, winamp for life!
Power Amp seems to work well for me!

Media Scanner Not Functioning Properly....?

Hola. I hate to sound like im asking for tech support, but I was trying to play some music today, and it said I had no songs. All of my music was in fact on the internal sd, playable in Astro, but it didn't show up in any apps. This is the same for pictures in the gallery. Weird. Also, the media scanner always takes a second, jumping from 0% to 100%. So does anyone have a clue what might be up? (Bionix-V 1.3.1).

Make sure you don't have a file named .nomedia where your pictures and music are at. This will stop media scanner from looking for media files in the directory where the ".nomedia" file exists.
Also, check this thread.

Thanks! I never would of thought of that

[Q] Stock Music player not picking the albums

My Music folders is not getting picked in the stock Music player.
Because of which i couldnt search the songs using the search facility.
Though i use poweramp to listen to music, i search the songs using the search facility, but lately i found that the search was not working even though the Music files were one among the searchable files.
When i started checking the same i found that the stock player is not picking up any albums from my memory card.
1. i tried moving the files to internal storage
2. Unmounted and mounted the card back
3. Factory reset ( used appsave application though)
4. Manually removed the sd card and inserted it back.
Nothing is working.
Could anyone please help?
Happened with me....just restart the phone,,all ll be fine,,,and be sure to turn usb debugging off...
Hope that helps..

Try playing some songs directly from from the memory,,,,it is some random bug,, use search function in music app..
According to me ur video app and gallery should have this problem too...
I use iSyncr to sync my playlists. It works great and even solves the "unknown" artist bug.
I did factory reset and formatted my sd card too and then transfered the files..
And now its working fine atlast

[Q] Music on Micro SD not recognized by players

I have lots of music on my micro sd card that the music players won't recognize. It will recognize some of the album's in my music folder but not all of them. The music is in the current playable format, I can even explore to the folders and play each individual song on every player I have and it will play fine, it just won't display all the songs together. I've tried re-scan media apps, deleting all "nomedia" files, clearing all music player caches, all with no success. Can someone please help me? My note 2 is rooted but that's it, no roms or anything, just root privileges so that I can do backups with Titanium Backup.

The media scanner sounds like it's confused for some reason, try clearing data in Settings->Applications->All->Media Storage
I've had people tell me to clear the music player data in the past and it never worked. I've never tried clearing media storage data. I cleared data and now all my music is displayed as it should be! I really appreciate it, I've struggled with this issue as far back as when i had my Galaxy S3 and never figured it out. Many props

Have you tried a different player, to see if the same thing happens?

" I cleared data and now all my music is displayed as it should be!"
Looks like it was fixed.
It did fix that problem but another appeared in its place. Now my music player is saying they're are 2 of every song. Every duplicate song that appears has the same exact file path. In essence, there is really only one song but the player is being two paths to the same song. I tried clearing my media storage again but to no avail.

Install another player. You shouldn't have to jump through these hoops to get it to work.
Or do this for your player:
Clear the data for your player like you did, then uninstall. While probably not necessary, reboot. Then reinstall and you should be good to go. If not then try a different player.
